Ebonyi's problem is generational poverty and the youths aren't trying to do better eg by at least doing what the other Eastern states indigenes are doing. Cost of living in Ebonyi is affordable.

It's important to correct some funny analogy about this group;
First the membership of the group was exclusive to the present day Enuani region

Secondly their leader and grand patron was Obi Egbune of Issele-uku as described in GT Basdens book

Thirdly;they never had a name! (Ekumeku was a descriptive term used by non-members to describe them)

Four;they never had an open war confrontation with the royal Niger company until the one fought in Ogwashi/ubulu axis that completely shattered the Ekumeku structure.

Obi Egbune only pulled his support from the group based on the sufficient advice of the supremacy of the white mans weapon.

It was a guerrilla war;never large scale but persistent.

Ekemeku war timeline is very important to note, having established that the war was more of a resistance than an open face to face battle which obviously would have been impossible,considering the sophisticated might of the white Mans weaponry.

To understand the longivitty of this war, you must first examine the reason for the war.

Ekumeku was largely a resistance to the royal niger company.

Thus Ekumeku could not have been in existence prior to the RNC timeline.

The royal Niger company on the other hand became active from 1886-1899

Obi Egbune who was their leader pulled out from the group in 1896 after he signed the treaty.

The groups activity was largely ended in the same 1896, but let's asssume it lingered small till the RNC sold it's holdings for around (£865,000) in 1899.

So here is the maths
RNC active year =1886
RNC Ends opps =1899
(subtracting both)=
I.e= 13 years

RNC active year =1886
P I egbune ended his affiliation to the group=1896
(subtracting both)=
I.e= 10 years

RNC active year =1886
Ekumeku ends=1896-1900
(subtracting both)
I.e 14 years.

However you calculate it, the average year of Ekumeku operations does not exceed 10-15 years at max, because they came in to fight the RNC and so could not have been in existence before then;because who would they have been resisting, and RNC outlived them because we see that the RNC operations continued up to the punitive expedition era in 1897.

The Original copy of the treaty signed between the Royal Niger Company and the issele “country” on the 20th February 1896.

This particular treaty came just 12 years after Ekumeku silent guerrilla wars was started by the then Obi Egbune of issele-Uku in 1884,who was also the grand patron and leader of the Ekumeku group.

An eye witness report from the explorer;GT Basden,describes Obi Egbune as “the most powerful man in the whole world”.(sometimes I sit back and wonder;what did he see?).

The treaty paved way for the end of all hostilities from the Ekumeku side and also a halt of the bombardments from the English weapons.

Most people do not know this,but this treaty saved the lives and property of the issele people who were the most powerful in that region stretching on both sides.

It’s interesting to know that as far it pertains to Ekumeku war,no other community holds a treaty to that effect,only issele-uku.

So I think it’s very important for me to do this right now,going by the deluge of historians we now have online,those who are telling their own history and those who are fixated on other people’s history.

If and when they write some of these things,it’s easy to identify the holes in them,and deduce who is lying from whose telling the truth.

I’ll give you a practical example;

When I say Issele uku was created in 1230ad,by oba eweka of Benin,you then take the date 1230 and cross check if oba eweka was really the oba at that time.

If I say that the communities that make up isseleuku are named after communities that make up Benin Kingdom;eg ogbe eribo,ehenkpe,ogbe oliha and utekor,you go and verify with Benin people if these areas truly exist.

When I say that our royal greeting of “iyade” in Issele uku is synonymous with “iyare” of Benin,you’ll ckearly see the resemblance in it.

If I tell you that Ekumeku war was headed by the obi Egbune of Issele uku,you should ask me how and I’ll show you the treaty he signed with the royal Niger company that ended most (not all) of the resistance.

If I then tell you,that the ezechime children ended their tussle to the throne of their father at the palace of the oba of Benin during the reign of oba esigie in the 15th century,you should be able to verify if oba esigie was king then in Benin during that time.

And so and so forth.

History like I’ve always said,is not tales by moonlight,but facts verifiable beyond reasonable doubt.

So when next someone says, that there was a certain aya idu na oba (war between oba and idu)in Enuani region or even in Benin,ask then these questions ;

What year was the war fought
What caused the war
Who won the war
What songs do they sing today in remembrance of that war
Who and who and who fought in that war?
Is there a commemoration of that war today,like we have the mock battle of the benin people during igue and the igbu agbor rituals of isseleuku during ine?

If they cannot answer 2 out of all these questions,just know it’s another tales by moonlight.

Sometimes when we managed to escape things due to God's mercies, we venture into it again, taking things for granted.

He had 6( in case of premature birth)-9 months to plan financially or STOP at 2 kids and use protection, giving the other 2 kids better quality of life.

He also had time to 'shop' around for hospitals in case of anything but many people don't plan, ie having plan B. They want their wives to always give birth like the Hebrew women. So, the women labor and both mother and baby are TIRED. Just like looking for school for one's toddler, it is better months or even years prior to enrollment to see the affordable, good ones around. Affordable, good enough government hospitals too.

If we say government should compulsorily provide NHIS insurance cover, how will these ones pay their own part?
