Politics › Southern Cameroun Joins IPOB In Biafra Struggle by sharpden(op): 6:15am On Apr 18, 2017
A new pro-Biafra group, the Biafra Nations Youth League (BNYL), has joined the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), in its struggle for a sovereign state.

BNYL, according to its leader, Prince Robinson C. Obuka is a community-based organization of youths with headquarters in Bakassi Peninsula.

It was reportedly established on August 3, 2013 in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State, following agreements by members and founders to uphold the unity of the various ethnic nations in the Bight of Biafra.

The group said it supported all the actions taken so far by IPOB on the continued detention of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

IPOB is involved in a struggle for the actualisation of a sovereign state from the Nigerian state.

Already, IPOB has declared May 30 as a sit-at-home day to drive home its point and to further push for the unconditional release of its detained leaders, who are facing treason charges in a Federal High Court, Abuja.

According to an electronic message, “the BNYL believes in due process to freedom and especially due consultations and have assured the aggrieved people of Biafra that we will remain steadfast in the greater dream of achieving Biafra and would make sure the various ethnic nations stay focused’.’

Before throwing its weight behind IPOB, BNYL said it had begun grassroots mobilization in many towns of the coastal area and had expanded to the inland areas including the Igbo speaking territory who are majority tribe of Biafra.

In the past, the group said it had organised a congress with the Governing Council of former British Southern Cameroons in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State during which a declaratory speech in support of Biafra independence and Biafra-Southern Cameroons Coalition was made by the Council Deputy Leader, Applaud Prince.

“Following the development, President of Southern Cameroons Youth League and Secretary General of the Organization of Emerging African States, Dr Ebenezer Dereck Mbongo Akwanga, a one time prisoner spoke with IBTIMES UK that Biafra-Southern Cameroon Coalition is a possibility as the people share similar culture and history.

“Another activist from Manyu division, Comrade Ashu Shamy, a former SUG President in Cameroon and co-founder of BNYL confirmed that his people and Cross Riverians are one and would never kick against Biafra,” the statement read .

It said the group has also held a congress in Ekukunela, Ikom Local Government Area of Cross River State in honour of internally displaced natives of the Bakassi Peninsula last April.

The Federal Government has told the Biafran agitators to forget the idea, noting that after a 30-month civil war to keep the nation together, its unity remained non-negotiable.

On the 12 april 2016 following arrest of the Deputy Leader Comrade Ebuta Takon who was detained in Ikom for three days. The congress saw the announcement of the Biafra Youth resolution known as Akwa-Cross Declaration same day in Ekukunela with the presence of Ikom, Etung, Obubra, Boki and Bakassi youths which followed a demonstration by mostly Ejagham natives in the host town.

The Resolution gave more recognition to the Communal Congress stating that the League will be Congress minded and nation conscious. The League have organised series of combined Akwa-Cross elders and youths Congress in Eket, Akwa Ibom State where the BNYL was adopted as a household Organization. This followed Nembe Kingdom meeting in Bayelsa State to ascertain the grievances of the Niger Delta Avengers, a militant group that focus on blowing pipelines after hearing from the people of Nembe declared support for Avengers action due to neglect of the Niger Delta, a region that lies at the mouth of the ancient African Region, Bight of Biafra.

On November 05 2016 BNYL moved headquarters from Ikom to Bakassi following clashes between the militia group, Bakassi Strike Force and Nigeria Troops of Operation code named “Delta Safe” accusing the Nigerian Military of targeting natives, after blasting the government for ceding the Bakassi Peninsula to Cameroon without referendum urging the people to build faith in Biafra. The League currently have a Chief of Staff named Linus Essien who is also the leader of displaced Bakassi Youths. On Novenber 09 2016 the National Leader, Comrade Prince Obuka and some members of a Christian Charity that came with relief materials for IDPs were apprehended in Ikang-Cameroon boarder by troops and handed over to the Department of State Service DSS, Cross River State Command where they were detained for three days and was granted bail, troops revealed it was an order that came from Abuja. On 8 February 2017 the National Deputy Leader, Comrade Ebuta Tako, himself Ejagham native of Cross River was arrested in Ekok, a small Ejagham town in Mamfe area of Cameroon following his visit to the town. He was released on bail after two days in security net. The Biafra Nations Youth League have equally supported the actions by the indegenous people of Biafra IPOB who have engaged in streets protests against the detained Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu as some members have been participating but organised by the IPOB.

The BNYL believes in due process to freedom and especially due consultations and have assured the aggrieved people of Biafra that ‘We will remain steadfast in the greater dream of achieving Biafra and would make sure the various ethnic nations stays focused.

Politics › Sanusi: Why I Supported My Daughter For Slapping A Man, She's A Strange Being by sharpden(op): 9:04pm On Apr 17, 2017
MUHAMMED Sanusi II, the Emir of Kano, has recalled how he supported Shahida, his daughter, when she slapped a man during her school days.

Saunsi said his daughter, who represented him at the Bring Back Our Girls movement’s third anniversary lecture for missing Chibok girls in Abuja on April 14, is a strange being.

The monarch, in a video message that introduced the young lady before she presented the paper on his behalf, said it was wrong for any man to disrespect a lady.

He said: “Although I won’t be there in person, I decided to send not my son but my daughter, Shahida to represent me.

“Let me tell you something about the young lady who is going to read my speech. Shahida is a graduate of African Leadership Academy in South Africa and a graduate from New York University as Biology major.

“But long before she went to African Leadership Academy, when she was in Form 3, I remember an incident that is probably relevant for today. Her mother came to me and said: ‘You need to talk to your daughter’ and I asked her: ‘Why?’ She said: ‘Your daughter slapped a boy in school’. It is a bit strange so, I called Shahida and said: ‘Shahida, I heard that you slapped a boy in school. Why did you do it?’

“Then she said: ‘Dad, that boy has no respect for women’. So, I asked her exactly what she meant by that. It turned out that one day, during prep in the afternoon, in full class, the boy had come to her, and put his finger to her forehead and pushed it backwards, and he was in the habit of doing it to all the girls in the class.

“She had said nothing apparently and waited until the next day. She walked into the prep class late, the whole class was full, and she walked up to him, slapped him, and said: ‘That was for yesterday.”

According to the royal father, his daughter is the type that would not watch any man subject her to any form of maltreatment in the name of marriage.

Sanusi said: “So, long before we started talking about marriage and talking about whether when your husband slaps you, you should slap him back, Shahida had decided for herself that she would not take abuse, she would not take insult and she would not be disrespected by any man.

“As you will see when she presents this paper and maybe if she has the time to speak her own mind, those who are opposed to my views and those who think that I am a problem have a much bigger problem to deal with in the next generation of Sanusis.”

Sanusi, a former boss of the Central Bank of Nigeria, said those who have been attacking him for speaking the truth should buckle up as his children who are coming up seem to be far more radical, outspoken and fearless than him.

He said: “They are far more radical, they are more progressive, they are far more committed, they are far more fearless. So, maybe it is time for us to address these issues before those group of tigers come to the scene.”

Politics › Dogara: Why 2018 Census Should Not Hold by sharpden(op): 7:56pm On Apr 17, 2017
YAKUBU Dogara, Speaker of the House of Representatives, has called on the people clamouring for the conduct of population census in 2018 to exercise patience till after 2019 elections when there will be no political pressure to manipulate its outcome.

Dogara said conducting population census in an election year may generate unrealistic results, and therefore advised that the next administration should conduct the census at the beginning of its tenure when there isn’t so much at stake.

Dogara stated this in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Turaki Hassan, in Abuja.

The Speaker explained said: “I won’t advice anyone to conduct national census in 2018. I said it before that if we are not going to achieve it in 2017, then we should just forget it until after 2019.

“If you conduct census at the niche of elections, there will be so much pressure, crisis and the lure for people to manipulate the figures for political reasons, such that the agency cannot even cope with. So it is better for a fresh administration to conduct this exercise from the beginning of that administration when we do not have any pressure of elections in sight. Then we may have something that resembles reality, but I can bet you if the census is conducted in 2018, the outcome will be doubtable.

“Seriously speaking, because I know who we are and I know the kind of litigation, backlashes, the pressure and we don’t need that now to be candid. We have so many challenges, let’s empower the agencies to keep building on the blocks that they will leverage on in the future in order to do the exercise but doing it in 2018, honestly it is nothing I would advocate.”

AYODELE Fayose, Ekiti State Governor, has described as absurd the claim by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, that looters have resorted to burying stolen funds in their backyards, deep forests and burial grounds.

Fayose said: “Looters in the Muhammadu Buhari’s Presidency, especially those being compensated for funding the election of the President in 2015 bury their own loots in the Villa with presidential protection.”

The governor asked: “Should it be wrong for other supposed looters that do not have presidential protection like their All Progressives Congress counterparts to bury their loots in burial grounds probably for spiritual protection?”

In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Fayose said “Nigerians can no longer be fooled with stage-managed loots recoveries, with no traceable owners (looters), especially when the loots are traceable to close associates of the president and his cabinet members.

“Obviously, this so-called anti-corruption war has become a laughing stock with N49 million found in Kaduna Airport, N448 million discovered in a shop at Victoria Island, Lagos and N13 billion found in Ikoyi, Lagos neither having owners nor the identities of owners of the properties where the money was found known.

“It is either the money belongs to members of Buhari’s government or it is being planted by the government to sustain its fake anti-corruption fight in the minds of the people.”

“Enough of stage-managed and fake anti-corruption war aimed solely at opposition figures, especially presidential hopefuls in the 2019 election.”

Fayose noted that two different laws were now being operated in the country, with one law for the APC and those who decamp to the party and the other for the opposition, especially those perceived as having presidential ambition.

He said: “The narrative they push daily is that only those in their government are saint while other Nigerians, including those in the National Assembly, Judiciary, opposition politicians and the civil servants are rogues while only Buhari’s appointees are saints.

“To worsen matters, the cluelessness of the APC government in the last two years has plunged the country into debt without anything to show.

“The cabals in the Presidency are also taking advantage of the President’s state of health, which is as a result of his age to oppress Nigerians.

“Nigerians must therefore keep their eyes on the ball and not be carried away by the orchestrated distractions aimed at preventing them from seeing how the APC led government has failed woefully.”

Fayose called on the international community to hold Nigeria accountable on the recovered N13 billion cash found in a Ikoyi, Lagos State apartment, saying: “This must not be swept under the carpet.”

MUHAMMED Sa’ad Abubakar, sultan of Sokoto, says the laziness of people is responsible for hunger in the land.

According to Daily Trust , the sultan said this at the 22nd annual Ummah convention in Sokoto.

He was responding to a comment by Ahmad Bello, chairman of the Shura committee of the National Islamic Centre, who told the federal government to address the “extreme hunger” in the land.

“The chairman, Shura committee talks about hunger in the land but let me make it clear that we are hungry because we are lazy,” the sultan was quoted to have said.

Bello had earlier said: “Let us be very frank and blunt about this. There is hunger, extreme hunger in the land. There is no better evidence of this than the millions of our hapless children, all victims of cruel parental neglect, who go about begging for food from households, on streets, or just eating out of dustbins.

“Our political and spiritual leaders must do something about this, and urgently too, as it would be a crime, a sin and a folly not to do so.”

Politics › IGP Orders Immediate Dismantling Of Illegal Road Blocks Nationwide by sharpden(op): 11:18pm On Apr 16, 2017
IBRAHIM Idris, inspector-general of police (IGP), has ordered the immediate dismantling of illegal road blocks across the country.

According to Jimoh Moshood, spokesman of the Nigeria police, the IGP has deployed special X-squad teams across the country to commence “the removal of all forms of illegal blockage of highways and roads, and other obstructions on public highways and roads created by unlawful revenue/tax collectors, road transport unions, labour and trade related unions inhibiting vehicular movement and smooth passage of passengers and goods, and other road users”.

He said the special X-squad teams were under strict instructions to also arrest, investigate and prosecute any person or group of persons found committing this illegal act.

“It is unlawful and contrary to the laws for any individual, or group under any name to take laws into their hands and block any road or highway in full or any part of it under the guise of collection of revenue/tax or enforcement of the interests of such organisations,” Moshood said in a statement he issued on Sunday.

“For avoidance of doubt, the Taxes and Levies act, Laws of Federation of Nigeria 2004 section 2 (2) disallowed any person, including a tax authority from mounting a road block in any part of the federation for the purposes of collecting any tax or levy.

“Consequently, the Nigeria Police Force hereby advised the relevant state governments, local government councils, boards of internal revenue service across the country, various transport unions, labour and traders associations that it is against the law for any organisation to create a blockage and restrict or restrain members of the public the free usage of roads and highways anywhere in the country.”

Moshood said the police had received complaints that “illegal blockage points were most times taken over and used by armed robbers and kidnappers to rob, kidnap and maim innocent travellers and other road users”.

“The Nigeria Police Force implored the affected stakeholders mentioned in paragraph ‘four’ above to prevails on their proxies, agents and representatives to desist forthwith the blockage of highways and roads across the country, as the full weight of the law will be applied on anyone arrested in the act, and they will be prosecuted along with their sponsors,” he added.

Health › New Names Emerge For HIV/AIDS, Prostitutes by sharpden(op): 5:29pm On Apr 15, 2017
A team of Nigerian linguists and medical experts have adopted new names for HIV, AIDS and prostitutes in Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba in order to reduce the scourge of stigmatisation.

A statement on Saturday by Prof. Herbert Igboanusi of the University of Ibadan, said the adoption was to eliminate stigmatisation and discrimination of persons living with HIV and AIDS.

Igboanusi said the study adopted the following names as more appropriate for the HIV/AIDS:

HIV in Igbo is Ori Nchekwa Ahụ, meaning something that fights or weakens the body immunity, while AIDS is Mmịnwụ, a condition that causes emaciation.

According to the statement, the Yorùbá appropriate term for HIV is Kòkòrò Apa Sójà Ara (KASA), meaning sickness which kills the body immunity, while AIDS is ààrùn ìsọdọ̀lẹ àjẹsára, a sickness that completely weakens body immune system.

In Hausa, HIV is now Karya garkuwa, meaning that which weakens the body immune system, while Kanjamau, a sickness capable of emaciating one’s body, has been chosen for AIDS.

Igboanusi said the study was a two-year research titled: “A metalanguage for HIV, AIDS and Ebola discourses in Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba.”

It was sponsored by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund.

Igboanusi called on speakers of the three languages to adhere to the use of these chosen terms in order to avoid confusing HIV with AIDS and consequently reduce their spread through behavioural change.

He said: “It is the researchers’ belief that behavioural change is only possible when the people are familiar with the appropriate terminology for HIV and AIDS in their own languages.”

Similarly, the experts also adopted a new name for commercial sex workers in line with international practice.

“Since it is now more acceptable to refer to certain persons as ‘commercial sex workers’ rather than ‘prostitutes’, we agreed that Ndị mkwụ̣gharị, people who hang around, should be used for them in Igbo.

Gbélé pawó, women who stay at home making money, in Yoruba and Mata masu zaman kansu, that is women who are living independently, in Hausa.

THE Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has called on Nigerians to ignore the security vote earnings released by Governor Nasir El-Rufai

Sani, in a statement released on Thursday, insisted there was no way El-Rufai would be earning less than half a million Naira a month.

He said: “The general public should not be deceived by Kaduna Governor’s stunts and public presentation of his work of fiction he calls security vote.

“Whoever can believe that a state governor lives on less than half a million monthly is either hypnotised, dazzed or high on an inebriant.

“If you are convinced that Kaduna Governor transparently spent his security votes on CCTV camera visit Kaduna if you will ever see one security camera.

“If you are convinced that the Kaduna Governor transparently spent his security votes on the police, please ask him from which of the votes does he pay the Herdsmen?”

Sani added that: “the Nigerian public cannot know who is a saint or a sinner in power, it always has to take men out of power for the public to know what exist beneath the throne.”

He also said corruption was hidden in the files of public documents.

“Nigeria’s lost wealth is not just in Swiss banks and dubai real estate; it’s not just hidden in cesspit holes and in dusty ceilings; it’s in the files of conduct bureau well protected by the law of secrecy.

“Apart from PMB and VP Osinbajo, no other vendor of change is willing to publicly declare his asset. Everyman on the throne of power stands in the dock of history and posterity,” he said.

A former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has replied the Minister of Aviation, Rotimi Amaechi, over a statement credited to his media aide, David Iyofor.

Fani-Kayode, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Jude Ndukwe, described Amaechi as a greedy peasant who begged his way to fame and stole as governor of Rivers State.

Fani-Kayode had on Saturday accused Amaechi of being the owner of the N15 billion found in different currencies in a Lagos flat on Wednesday.

Writing on his Twitter handle, the spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organization in 2015, tweeted: “The $43 million is Rotimi Amaechi’s. He owns the flat it was found in too. NIA (National Intelligence Agency) story is fake news! NIA does not keep cash in Minister’s flats!”

Responding to him, Amaechi, through Iyofor, described the statement as fake that of someone who was off his medication.

Responding also, Fani-Kayode, through Ndukwe, wrote: “We read with amusement the insulting words of one of Rotimi Ameachi’s aides about Chief Femi Fani-Kayode.

“In the first place one must ask, is Rotimi Ameachi a human being? Everyone knows he is an animal.

“A man who had to appoint his own psychiatrist as his Commissioner of Health when he was governor because he kept breaking down during cabinet meetings?

“A man that shits in his pants every time that he hears FFK’s name? Do u expect the great FFK to respond to a creature like Rotimi who he once described as ‘a pot-bellied creek Haramite who comes from the gutter’.

“A dirty stinking swamp rat like Rotimi Ameachi has the nerve to send his boy to insult FFK?

“We will not respond to the little errand boy that days he is Amaechi’s spokesman. The rat is too small.

“We have bigger and better things to do. We are waiting for Amaechi himself to open his stinking mouth. Let us hear from him and not from his errand boy.

“The man is a cultist and a killer. He is also a serial traitor who spends more time smoking Indian hemp and drinking kai kai than on servicing his wife.

“He was a houseboy to Gov. Peter Odili and his very ugly wife was also a housegirl to Odili’s wife.

“The Odilis made them human beings after they washed their toilets and sucked their arses for many years yet in the end both Rotimi and his wife betrayed them.

“Rotimi is nothing but a greedy peasant, gutter snipe and shit heel. His stomach is so fat that he farts in his dreams and when he does so he puts the lights out.

“He should go and cough up all the money that he stole from Rivers state when he was governor rather than trying to fool anyone.

“He should also stop the rubbish he is doing at Transport. He owns the US $43m and everyone knows it.

“Attempts to cover up for him will fail.”

DAVID Iyofor, aide to Transport Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, has described former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode as a “mad man” in need of help for linking the Minister to the $43m the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, uncovered in a property in Ikoyi, Lagos State.

Following the discovery of the huge sum, Fani-Kayode, a Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had claimed that the property housing the money was owned by Amaechi.

Fani-Kayode, in a tweet had said, “The $43 million is Rotimi Amaechi’s. He owns the flat it was found in too. NIA story is fake news! NIA does not keep cash in Minister’s flats!”

But responding to Fani-Kayode’s tweet, Iyofor, in a series of tweets on his twitter handle @davidiyofor, wrote, “FAKE NEWS. Show us the title documents with Amaechi’s name as the owner or shut up. When normal peeps talk, this one also wants to talk. SMH.”

“Someone will just sniff something then comes on Twitter to rant incomprehensible nonsense. Some fellows really need help, serious help.

THE Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) has called for the removal of Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris.

Founder of the Yoruba socio-cultural group, Dr. Frederick Fasehun, made the call, saying the police boss was tribalistic in the discharge of his duties.

The OPC President said the IGP’s recent response to allegations that only Yoruba people were arrested following the crisis between Hausa and Yoruba in Ife town, Osun State, showed clearly that the police boss was following an ethnic script.

“The IG just confirmed that only Yoruba were arrested in a conflict between Yoruba and Hausa-Fulani people; that is prejudicial and that is unacceptable,” Fasehun declared in a statement circulated in Lagos yesterday.

Fasehun said: “Idris is a man with an agenda. He has shown himself a bigot. And he is unfit to be the IG of Police in a cosmopolitan and pluralistic country like Nigeria. Before he smears President Muhammadu Buhari, the President should offload him.”

In the backlash of criticism from Yoruba leaders following the parade of 20 suspects, including a Yoruba monarch, Idris last week said after a meeting with the President at Aso Rock, Abuja, that crime had no tribe.

According to Fasehun, for the Police IG to have made such a statement was “an admission of tribalism, unbefitting of the exalted position of the Inspector-General of the Nigerian police. It is a confirmation that the police under Mr. Ibrahim Idris took the prejudicial step to arrest only Yoruba people although the crisis pitched two tribes against each other."

The OPC leader said that by Idris’s statement, it was clear that the IG had taken sides; and that contrary to his training and oath of office had foreclosed an open case between two conflicting groups.

“The IG has admitted that only Yoruba suspects were arrested and that it was deliberate. It is a clear case of prejudice,” he emphasised.

He called for the immediate freeing of the Ife-20, saying, their arrest neither followed due process nor the facts on the ground.

According to the OPC leader, it was clear that such a prejudicial stance by security agents like the IG had given Fulani herdsmen the effrontery to inflict violence and death on communities throughout Nigeria.

Fasehun said: “Is there any wonder why under Idris’s watch, the police has been unable to apprehend, prosecute and check the mayhem inflicted by Fulani herdsmen at Agatu in Benue State, where they have sacked communities and continue to graze their cattle with impunity, in Delta State, in Ekiti State, Ogun State, Nasarawa State, Benue State, in Plateau State and in Southern Kaduna?

“Despite the havoc being unleashed and continued against citizens in Southern Kaduna, the police under Idris has been unable to apprehend and prosecute a single culprit.

“He is a promoter of ethnic cleansing. He is a man on an evil mission.”

The OPC leader pointed out that only in cases where victims put up resistance that the police would swing into action, and arrest people defending their homes and farms against Fulani herdsmen.

“Everywhere communities rise up to resist his Hausa-Fulani agents of death, Idris would quickly rise up to arrest citizens for daring to protect themselves,” Fasehun reiterated.

Reeling out a catalogue of prejudicial police intervention, the OPC President recalled that: “It happened in the Mile 2 Lagos crisis in 2016, when police from a part of the country provided backup for Hausa-Fulani arsonists and killers and apprehended citizens protecting their children, businesses and properties from damage and death.

“It happened March 2016 when 76 residents of Ugwuneshi autonomous community in the Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, were arrested in their quest to rescue their captured women from Fulani herdsmen.”

He accused the Police IG of looking the other way and allowing Fulani herdsmen to roam the country bearing sophisticated firearms like the AK47.

Fasehun pointed out that such prejudicial posturing would mislead the Presidency.

“One must be worried that people like Alhaji Idris influence the quality of counsel that dictates President Buhari’s security policies,” the OPC President said. “Nothing good can come from them; which is why Nigeria finds it difficult to loosen this grip of general insecurity.”

He condemned as unhealthy a situation where security apparatuses were concentrated in the hands of a section of the country, saying, it was contrary to Section 14(3) of the Constitution which dictates Federal Character in appointments: “The composition of the Government of the Federation or any of its agencies and the conduct of its affairs shall be carried out in such a manner as to reflect the federal character of Nigeria and the need to promote national unity, and also to command national loyalty, thereby ensuring that there shall be no predominance of persons from a few State or from a few ethnic or other sectional groups in that Government or in any of its agencies.”

Politics › Senate Begins Probe Of Saraki Over N298M Jeep by sharpden(op): 4:42pm On Mar 27, 2017
THE Senate has commenced the probe of its President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, over the purchase of a Jeep worth N298 million.

The Senate had last week directed its committee on Ethic and Privileges to probe Saraki on the development.

The issue became public knowledge following what was described as the refusal of Saraki to pay the Customs duties on the vehicle.

Some media reports had insinuated that the decision of the Senate to probe the Controller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, retired Colonel Hameed Ali, was due to his refusal to cave in on the payment of the duties on the Jeep.

Saraki however said the Jeep belongs to the Senate.

He had just arrived to defend himself before the probe committee as at press time on Monday.
