The PDP Rofo-Rofo Chronicles: A Symphony of Destruction

“Democracy becomes a farce when its leaders trade wisdom for spectacle and service for showmanship.” – Doherty Gbanson

In the dimly lit theater of Nigerian politics, a peculiar performance is unfolding—an epic battle between two of the most colorful characters the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has ever produced. This is no ordinary political scuffle; no, this is what we at PEREscope fondly call the “Rofo-Rofo Fight” of the century. And the stars of this tragicomedy? None other than Plateau State’s “Gospel Crooner” Celeb Mut and Osun State’s “King of Pop” Ade Jackson Ade.

Images may be subject to copyrights.
Picture this: from the left side of the stage, Uncle Mut enters, not with a rousing sermon, but with hollow religious refrains that sound like they’ve been plucked straight from the mouth of a man who’s forgotten what the Bible actually says. His governance? A curious exercise in what not to do if you claim to follow the good book. His divine mission appears to be turning Christian virtues into political vices. Let us not forget his ongoing “miracle” of taking Plateau State’s issues and turning them into divine mysteries—unexplainable and unsolved.

From the right side, in moonwalks the star of Osun’s political circus, Ade Jackson Ade. Known for his Michael Jackson impersonations, Ade approaches governance as though it were a reality TV dance-off. Why bother with the complexities of leadership when you can dazzle with a few well-timed shuffles and moonwalks? After all, why solve Osun’s problems when you can “Billie Jean” them away?

And while the ordinary Nigerian sits at home, palms on cheeks, wondering what the PDP will make of its haunted past, these two “flag-bearing clowns” provide comic relief in the form of a Symphony of Destruction. Directed by none other than Waziri Yaounde, with Noisome Wicked serving as the chief choreographer, the PDP’s once-vaunted machinery has now become a political circus, and Nigerians are invited to laugh along—lest they cry.

Ladies and gentlemen, step right up and witness this farce of democracy. What does the future hold for the PDP? We don’t know. But we do know that in the battle of Singer vs. Dancer, Nigeria’s hopes of serious governance are, for now, left waiting in the wings.

In a blistering press conference held on October 12, 2024, the Plateau State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) launched a fierce critique against Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s leadership. The APC State Chairman, Hon. Rufus Bature, accused the governor of overseeing what he described as a deeply flawed and manipulated local government election process, asserting that the conduct of the polls betrayed the governor’s earlier promises of transparency and fairness. According to Hon. Bature, the election was marred by widespread irregularities, rigging, and violence, culminating in a significant erosion of public trust in Governor Mutfwang’s administration. Below is the full text of the press statement as released by the APC.

PRESS STATEMENT

ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS,

PLATEAU STATE CHAPTER,

KALWA HOUSE, YAKUBU GOWON WAY,

JOS.

GOV. MUTFWANG, A LEADER NEVER TO BE TRUSTED

The Plateau State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, has described Governor Caleb Mutfwang as a leader that should not to be trusted.

Addressing a World Press in Jos today, the State Chairman of the Party Hon Rufus Bature, stated that the Governor based on his assurances that he was going to conduct a transparent, free and fair elections during the government elections were just a hoax after all.

He pointed out that with the manipulations, rigging, banditry and blood shed that characterized the conduct of the elections, they portrayed Governor Mutfwang as a failed and incompetent leader.

According to him Governor Mutfwang before the failed elections he had often boosted at any given opportunity, that his government would conduct credible elections but only turned out to serve the people with the worst local government elections in the political trajectory of Plateau State.

Hon.Bature flanked by the APC Chairmanship Candidates, remarked that the party was not surprised, but shocked by the manner in which the Governor gave cover to evil machinations perpetrated by Plasiec during the elections.

The Party Chairman maintained that a situation where elections did not take place in some areas and results not collated, yet the Governor went on to swear in some imposters as elected local government Chairmen speaks volumes about his integrity.

He noted that PLasiec Chairman Plangji Cishak, and Governor Mutfwang who claim to come from a christain background disappointed the people of the State by their ungodly conduct.

According to him, even though lack of respect for the rule of law and due diligence are the hallmarks of the PDP led administration, Governor Mutfwang and PLasiec have woefully failed integrity test as far as the local government elections were concerned.

The APC Chairman remarked that it is a disservice and insensitive for members of the PDP to be celebrating, when people were killed and wounded in the cause of defending their rights by some unpopular persons who wanted to win elections at all costs.

Hon.Bature believed that why PLasiec and it’s officials ran away midway during the elections, was probably because of the direction the electorate took and the voting pattern which clearly showed outright rejection of the PDP candidates.

He maintained that the PDP led administration should not have expected anything less, because of non performance, trust deficit and witch hunt that are the hallmarks of the Mutfwang government.

Hon.Bature commended the people of the State for expressing their views despite the fact that PLasiec thought otherwise, but that their voices have been heard, loud and clear.

1st October 2024: 16 months of Mutfwang’s betrayal and disappointment.
Posted on October 1, 2024 by PEREscope writer.

The Caleb Mutfwang-led People’s Democratic Party (PDP) administration, which rose to power by exploiting religious sentiments, has consistently demonstrated an alarming disregard for the well-being of Plateau State’s citizens and residents. Now, 16 months into its disappointing tenure, the government’s glaring failure is underscored by its inability to translate the enormous funds it has received into meaningful development.

Between May and December 2023, the Mutfwang administration received an astonishing sum of ₦121.71 billion, yet there is little to show for it. The absence of visible development has left citizens questioning where these vast resources have gone. This morning, the civil servants, who have borne the brunt of the state’s hardships, were once again dealt a blow when Mutfwang made no mention of their sacrifices. He failed to announce any improvement in their welfare packages, despite the substantial revenue at his disposal.

What is even more disheartening is that the man, now infamously labeled a “Pharaoh,” has shown no regard for the voices of the people he governs. His leadership has not only been characterized by negligence but also by an apparent disdain for the collective efforts that built the Plateau he inherited.

Despite the disillusionment and pain inflicted by his administration, it is crucial for all lovers of Plateau State to remain hopeful and prayerful. More than just prayers, however, action is required to ensure that the mismanagement and insensitivity of this leadership never repeat themselves in the future.

When we, as a people, collectively send Caleb Mutfwang back to where he came from, we will not only be reclaiming our state but also safeguarding democracy. We will have ensured that leadership is never again entrusted to an insensitive and reckless individual. Our local government autonomy, legislative independence, and the sacred principle of power rotation among the senatorial zones will be restored. Moreover, we will protect the freedom of citizens like Gamka and Samuel, who have been persecuted for daring to question authority, from unjust arrests and long detentions.

The season of change started since 30th of May 2023, the work for change must continue until the time for changr is now and we sack him with our votes at the next general election. The future of Plateau State depends on our collective action to ensure that such a leadership disaster is never repeated again.

After the Plateau LG Polls: PLASIEC’s Credibility in Tatters Amid Allegations of Sabotage and Manipulation
Posted on October 10, 2024 by PEREscope writer.

PLASIEC logo.
The Plateau State local government elections held yesterday, October 9, 2024, were expected to set a new standard for free and fair elections in the state. However, instead of reinforcing democratic ideals, the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC), led by Chairman Plangji Cishak, has found itself at the center of a storm. The elections were marred by allegations of sabotage, voter disenfranchisement, and widespread manipulation, leaving many Plateau citizens questioning whether the outcome will reflect the will of the people or the preferences of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Pre-Election Fears on PLASIEC’s Credibility

From the outset, many citizens and political analysts expressed deep concerns about the impartiality of PLASIEC, casting doubts on the integrity of key figures within the commission. Plangji Cishak, the current chairman, and Waziri Yahaya Kwande, a prominent member of the commission, were both seen as politically compromised.

Mutfwang and Plangji. Image may be subject to copyright.
Cishak’s appointment, in particular, raised alarm bells across the political spectrum. Citizens and civil society groups pointed to his previous tenure with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), during which he was accused of playing a key role in sabotaging the 2023 general elections to favor the PDP. His swift transition from INEC to PLASIEC was seen by many as a political reward for services rendered to the ruling party, casting serious doubts on whether he could deliver a neutral and credible election.

Likewise, Waziri Yahaya Kwande’s involvement in the commission was viewed with suspicion. As a card-carrying member of the PDP who previously contested for the House of Representatives seat of Shendam, Mikang, and Qua’anpan, Kwande’s appointment to PLASIEC appeared more like a political strategy than an effort to ensure free and fair elections. These appointments, widely regarded as favors to party loyalists, undermined public confidence in PLASIEC’s ability to act independently and raised fears of electoral manipulation.

A Chaotic Election Day in Jos South

These pre-election fears were confirmed on election day, as chaos and mismanagement plagued the process. In Jos South Local Government, for instance, election materials did not arrive at polling units in places like Gyel A Ward until after 10 a.m., hours after the scheduled start time. While voting eventually commenced, in Hwolshe, voting did not start until after 2 p.m. If such delays and logistical failures were experienced in Jos South, the capital of Plateau State, one can only imagine the level of disorganization in more remote areas.

Additionally, reports of inadequate ballot papers led to widespread voter disenfranchisement. These issues have deepened suspicions that the election process was deliberately sabotaged to give the PDP an unfair advantage. The electoral irregularities in Jos South, a major local government area, suggest that this was not an isolated incident but rather part of a larger strategy to manipulate the outcome.

Manipulation of Results and Rising Tensions

As of this morning, no official results had been announced, fueling further speculation that the government is deliberately delaying the process to manipulate the outcome in favor of the PDP. In Kanam Local Government, for example, Ward Returning Officers failed to report to the Local Government Collation Centre, a clear violation of procedure. This delay has created a tense atmosphere in Kanam, with residents pointing fingers at Ephraim Usman, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, whom they accuse of orchestrating the manipulation.

The delay in announcing the election results has further stoked fears of rigging. Voters across Plateau State are growing increasingly frustrated, and there is growing concern that if these issues are not addressed promptly, the state could descend into chaos.

A Call for Accountability and Transparency

The public outcry following the election has been swift and fierce. Civil society organizations, opposition parties, and everyday citizens are demanding accountability from PLASIEC and the Plateau State government. Despite calls for transparency before the election, the blatant manipulation of the process has shattered public trust in the electoral system.

The fear now is that if PLASIEC and government officials do not take immediate steps to address these concerns, the state may be on the brink of unrest. Plateau State is no stranger to violence, and the potential for widespread conflict is real if the electorate feels their will is being subverted.

Conclusion: PLASIEC’s Integrity in Ruins

The 2024 local government elections in Plateau State were supposed to be a showcase of democracy in action. Instead, they have left a trail of broken promises and shattered faith in the electoral process. The pre-election fears about PLASIEC’s leadership, particularly the appointments of Plangji Cishak and Waziri Yahaya Kwande, have been borne out by the chaos that unfolded on election day. The delay in announcing results only adds to the suspicion that these elections are being manipulated to favor the PDP.

As Plateau citizens anxiously await the official results, it remains to be seen whether PLASIEC will salvage its credibility. The state government cannot afford to sit idly by while compromised officials and a flawed commission subvert the will of the people. If the election results do not reflect the true will of the people, Plateau risks plunging into unprecedented violence and unrest.

The people of Plateau deserve a free and fair electoral process. It is now up to PLASIEC to prove that it can rise above the allegations of bias and manipulation, or forever be remembered as the commission that failed Plateau’s democracy.

Plateau Muslim Community Opposes Conversion Of Mosque In Mangu To Market

The Mangu Concerned Muslim Consultative Forum (MCMCF) in the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State has expressed deep concern over the conversion of their demolished Juma’at Mosque in the Bungha Dawo area into a market.

It is a known fact that ethno-religious crisis had led to the destruction of mosques and churches in Mangu in January 2024.

The Muslim group, in a statement by its chairman, Mahmuda Jafaru, strongly condemned the act of the conversion of the mosque into a market and stated that they had informed the chairman of the LGA, Markus Artu, about the situation but have not seen any action taken yet.

Jafaru described the conversion of their mosque into a market as a severe violation of religious freedom.

He emphasised that such actions not only disrespect the sanctity of religious spaces but also disrupt the peaceful coexistence of the Muslim communities in the area.

The group contrasted this situation with the protection afforded to churches in Muslim-dominated areas, citing an incident where vandals at the Gangaran Kwata church were apprehended and handed over to security personnel.

Despite attempts to reach out to Markus Artu, the Chairman of the Mangu LGA, for comment on the complaint lodged with him, there has been no response.

PoliticsPlateau PDP In A Quagmire by shayiD(op): 10:09pm On Apr 11, 2024
PRESS STATEMENT 11/4/24

PDP IN A QUAGMIRE

From all indications and circumstantial convictions, the ruling People Democratic Party in Plateau State is in a dire stress and fast running out of steam.

Barely ten months in office, the government is running on fumes, looking seriously exhausted and overwhelmingly frustrated with the demands and challenges of governance.

It is therefore not surprising, that within such a short span of time, the people on whom the PDP rode on their backs to power, are beginning to ask questions and accountability on the mandate so entrusted to the ruling Party in the State.

Unfortunately, this is what the PDP and the government would hate to hear or tolerate, especially any promptings from the opposition parties which has often resulted in the ground- swelling resentment in the State.

In the past few days, the PDP has been in a state of melancholy and obscurity, for no fault of anyone, but self inflicted unpopularity, caused by ill thought out policies and actions of the government.

Undoubtedly, the political space has been agog, charged and full of histrionics put up by the PDP, just because the APC and it's Council of Elders statesmanly alerted the government on the looming danger over the closure of the Plateau State University Bokkos, by the National University Commission (NUC).

The APC as a responsible opposition party did not just speak without facts, but acted on a verifiable document to advise on the way out of the quagmire.

But typical of the PDP and it's Social media Skunks, without any decorum and sense of superior reasonings over the government's action or inaction, resorted to making avalanche of belittlements as well as mean-spiritedness in condemning any patriotic voice.

What is baffling and incomprehensible is that, whenever the PDP's government inadequacies are pointed out, the party always shifts the blame on former governor Simon Lalong, who as far as the Bokkos University is concerned, is one of the architects apart from Governor Joshua Dariye, that initiated and executed the establishment of the Institution.

Going memory lane, when the idea of the State University was muted out by the Dariye government, it was Senator Lalong then, as the Speaker, who ensured the speedy passage of the law establishing the Institution and the allocation of funds for its immediate take-off within a record time.

Furthermore, immediately Senator Lalong became the Governor of the State, he opened the University, earlier closed down by the Jang administration, in addition to the appointment of an academic of international repute, in the person of Professor Attahiru Jega as its Pro-Chancellor, leading to the accreditation of numerous courses in the Institution by the NUC.

Added to this, is the immeasurable contributions of Senator Lalong to the development of the Institution,as was seen in the first joint matriculations of the University which attracted national attention and public assistance by some spirited individuals as well as entities.

It is therefore uncharitable and foolhardy, for the PDP and it's media play boys to always blindly and without any intellectual flavour, put up an escapist defence on the inadequacies and inefficiencies of the government.

For the APC, it believes that the ruling Party should be accountable to the people, with the Opposition providing alternative policies and perspectives in the art of government.

And that is what APC is doing, and will continue to do without any fear of intimidation, harassment and character assassination by a group of dumb bunnies.

*PRESS RELEASE* *8/4/24* .

* APC ELDERS COUNCIL,CAUTIONS PLATEAU STATE GOVERNMENT.*

The APC Elders council wishes to openly express it's worries and concerns over certain developments which need to be addressed immediately by the Plateau State government in the interest of the State .

As responsible Elders, we cannot afford to remain complacent or passive in the face of some abnormalities in policy directions and executions by the State government.

What is of utmost concerned to us, is the reported threat, to close down the Plateau State University Bokkos, by the National University Commission (NUC) as a result of certain decisions by the State government.

Having undertaken a careful investigation and consultation with relevant authorities, it has become imperative and expedient for us as stakeholders, to draw the attention of the Plateau State government to quickly address the concerns raised by the National University Commission as they affect the running of the Institution to avoid any unpleasant consequences.

Without any prejudices or political affiliation, the issues at hand are avoidable, if the Governor retraces his steps and allows the Institution to be run according to its laws as well as the guidelines of the NUC.

The APC Elders Council foresees a lot of danger and serious repercussions, if the University is closed down, and leaving in denial by the State government, is not a solution to the looming crisis.

We also want to use this opportunity to advise Governor Mutfwang, to as quickly as possible direct the Speaker, Hon. Gabriel Dewan to swear-in the rest of the members-elect of the Plateau State House of Assembly.

There is no reason or justification whatsoever, in the swearing in of the members-elect in batches.

The continued delay in swearing- in of the rest of the seven legislators is an affront, non- respect to the rule of law and an undeserved punishment on the people of the affected Constituencies.

We therefore appealed to Governor Mutfwang and the Speaker Hon. Dewan, to do the needful in order to avoid any unnecessary crisis in the State.

Signed.
Ambassador Danladi Wuyep
Chairman APC Elders Council.

*PRESS STATEMENT 6/4/24.*

*ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS, PLATEAU STATE CHAPTER KALWA HOUSE, YAKUBU GOWON WAY, JOS.*

*PLATEAU STATE UNIVERSITY BOKKOS RISKS BEING CLOSED DOWN.*

The All Progressives Congress is seriously worried over the impending closure of the Plateau State University Bokkos by the National University Commission as a result of the violations of the commission's guild lines by the State Government.

Information reaching the Party indicated that the NUC is about to withdraw the certificate of recognition and accreditation to the Institution due to the recalcitrant attitude of the Plateau State government in disrupting academic activities and the meddlesomeness in the management of the University.

The APC as a critical stake holder, views the recent autocratic action of Governor Caleb Mutfwang in removing the Vice-Chancellor and the retrenchment of qualified lecturers of the University as the major reasons of the looming closure of the Institution by the NUC.

APC is really disturbed and concerned that despite the protests by the academic and non -academic Staff of the Institution as well as the warning by the NUC against the flagrant violation of the University's laws in the appointment and removal of the Vice -Chancellor, the governor feels that he can do and undo so long as he is the Visitor of the Institution.

The APC though not suprised by the action of Governor Mutfwang, as similar decision was meted out to the Institution by his mentor Jonah Jang, the total closure of the University will have a devastating effect on the State, Parents and Students.

The flimsy excuse by the state government that the terminations of some of lecturers and support staff appointments were on the grounds that proper procedures were not followed, is counter productive since it could give reasons for the cancellation of the accreditation of some courses earlier issued by the NUC.

The APC is therefore calling on the governor to do the needful immediately by reinstating the Vice -Chancellor Professor Matur and the retrenched lecturers as well as support staff to avoid the NUC dangling axe

Plateau APC frown at selective inauguration of 9 out of 16 State House of Assembly members elect.
by Mr. Integrity April 5, 2024

The Plateau State Chapter of the All Progressive Congress APC has frown at the selective inauguration of 9 out of 16 the members elect.

The Plateau State Chairman of the All Progressive Congress APC, Hon. Rufus Bature, made this known in a press conference which held today 5th April, 2024 at the State Party Secretariat Kalwa House Jos the Plateau State capital, stated that the party frown in totality the kind of selective inauguration of 9 out of 16 members that won their case at the appeal court today by the Speaker Rt. Hon. Gabriel Dewan.

Furthermore, Hon. Bature stated that they as a party take exception to what the eight members (elect) now members under the platform of APC have done.

He said the party will seat and look at the issues very critical and sanction whoever is found wanting over this issue.

Hon Bature also stated that they as a party frown at turning democracy into an authoritarian under the Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang’s PDP, because any democracy without legislatures is an anarchy.

He said, with what has just happened today, the PDP Government under the same Governor Caleb Manasseh whom is also the product of democracy is trying so hard to render democracy into useless.

He said if the Plateau must move forward, the right thing need to be seen done.

Hon. Bature urged Governor Mutfwang to look at Plateau as his first constituency and not as PDP constituency, by requesting the Speaker to immediately swear-in the remaining 7 members.

The State APC Chairman also condemned the rumoured extension of tenure for the Caretaker Committee Chairmen.

He said the issues of Transition Committee is not something to be debated for because the Supreme Court which is the highest Court in the land has already made its pronouncement that the Governors has no right or power to remove any elected official at the third tier of the Government.

2nd April 2024

By

Transporters and other trade unions in Plateau State under the auspices of Plateau State Joint Transport, Traders and Marketers Association, on Tuesday, announced that there would be a sit-at-home across the state on Wednesday, April 4, 2024.

The spokesperson for the group, Abubakar Garba, who disclosed this at a press conference in Jos, the state capital, on Tuesday said their action was intended to voice out their rejection of the executive order signed by the state governor, Caleb Mutfwang.

The PUNCH reports that Mutfwang had last month signed Executive Order No. 003, 2024, to control the illegal erection of buildings and traffic jams in the state.

The General Manager of Jos Metropolitan Development Board, Hart Bankat, said the executive order became imperative considering the indiscriminate manner in which buildings were being erected and traffic control abysmally degenerated within the Greater Jos Master plan as well as the prevalence of building collapse in the state.

The executive order restricted trucks and other heavy-duty vehicles from coming into the Central Business Area (Jos-Bukuru Metropolis) from 6 am to 9 pm, while vehicles of defaulters shall be impounded and the drivers of same shall be liable to pay a fine of N500,000.

However, on Tuesday, the spokesman for the Plateau State Joint Transport, Traders and Marketers Association, Abubakar Garba, who led other members of the association to a press conference in Jos, rejected the executive order, describing it as an infringement on their fundamental human rights and inimical to business survival in the state.

He noted that at the moment, no truck owners are willing to convey goods from other states to Plateau State as a result of the executive order.

Garba, who lamented the seizure of their trucks by task force officials, called for their immediate release.

He said, “The last time we checked, we found out that the roads which the government is barricading for us not to follow belong to the Federal Government in which the Federal Government constructed it to ease movement from one state to another and for vehicles within the country.

“Based on this development, restricting any vehicular movement on those roads is an infringement on our fundamental rights of movement as guaranteed by the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“We therefore call on the government of Plateau State to retract its steps on this executive order by releasing our impounded trucks immediately, providing designated routes for trucks, allowing trucks moving goods to their states like Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa, Taraba, Borno and Jigawa states to use the bye pass roads to their destinations.

“We further urge the government to construct test terminals for the efficient working of the executive order and also to reduce the restriction time from 9 pm to 6am to 5pm-7 am to reduce the hardship faced by truck owners and the high cost of goods and services by the citizens.

“We will continue to use all available legal means for the enforcement of our fundamental rights even as we have resolved to declare tomorrow Wednesday, April 3, 2024, as a warning strike to sit at home to show our dissatisfaction with the sad executive order 003,2024 and we shall continue until a lasting solution is found”

When contacted, the state Commissioner for Information, Musa Ashoms, said government officials were in a meeting with leaders of the trade union to resolve grey areas concerning the executive order, which he said has come to stay.

In a decisive move against the Plateau State Government’s recently enforced Executive Order 003, which restricts trucks from entering the Jos-Bukuru metropolis, the State Joint Transport and Traders and Marketers Association have announced a one-day warning strike. The association contends that the order severely undermines their business operations and economic viability.

Executive Order 003, issued in 2024, aimed at controlling buildings and vehicular traffic in Plateau State, has led to the widespread impoundment of articulated vehicles by the government’s taskforce. This crackdown has sparked outrage among transporters and traders, prompting them to take a stand against what they perceive as detrimental policies.

Speaking to the press in Jos, Plateau State, Samaila Garba, the Chairman of the Association, alongside other executive members, expressed deep concern over the ramifications of the executive order. Garba highlighted that over 25 trucks were impounded on the first day of implementation, allegedly for violating the order by offloading goods at various stores and shops. Moreover, the government has imposed hefty fines of N500,000 on each truck, refusing to release them until payment is made.

The association emphasized its commitment to fostering peace, economic stability, and responsible conduct within society. However, they vehemently oppose the government’s decision to restrict truck movements, citing security concerns associated with parking vehicles in open spaces.

Garba underscored the association’s prior engagements with government officials, which failed to yield positive outcomes. Frustrated by what they perceive as a disregard for democratic principles and constitutional rights, the association deemed it necessary to escalate their protest through a warning strike.

In a bid to assert their grievances, the joint association demanded the immediate release of impounded trucks, the designation of specific routes for truck movements, and facilitation of goods transportation to Northeast and Northwestern states. They affirmed their readiness to utilize all legal means to safeguard their fundamental rights.

Consequently, the association declared a one-day warning strike, scheduled for April 3rd, 2024, wherein members will abstain from work to voice their dissent against Executive Order 003. They vowed to persist with their protest until a satisfactory resolution is reached with the government.

PoliticsPress Statement By Conveners Of Occupy Plateau Campaign (OPC) by shayiD(op):
Press Statement by the Conveners of the Occupy Plateau Campaigns (OPC)

Date: March 25, 2024

Time: 11:00 AM
Location: Jos

To: The Press, Ladies and Gentlemen

You are aware of the looming anarchy and direct confrontations with the Nigerian State, the constitution, and our democracy by some persons with suspected support of the Plateau State government.

The conveners of the Occupy Plateau Campaigns (OPC), comprised of the All Progressives Congress (APC) youths, the People's Democratic (PDP) Youths, and the Labour Party (LP), stand together against tyranny and lawlessness prioritized by eight members of the Plateau State House of Assembly and the Plateau State Government.

It is our duty and the duty of every patriotic citizen of Plateau State and Nigeria to condemn any act of lawlessness and attempts to undermine democracy and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Following the general elections held on March 18, 2023, there were pre-election lawsuits. The Court of Appeal, the highest court for legislative electoral matters, issued a decision in November 2023. This decision removed and replaced sixteen members of the Plateau State House of Assembly.

The Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives have since complied and sworn in National Assembly members, while the same has not yet been done in Plateau State.

However, in a drama akin to a movie, the 16 lawmakers have not yet been sworn in, and the public has been inundated with claims and counter-claims of a fresh, instigated lawsuit in an attempt to ridicule our democracy and the judiciary.

Youth groups like ours and other civil society organizations on the Plateau have grown impatient waiting for the appropriate bodies to act. We will no longer tolerate any form of lawlessness or legislative rascality that undermines democracy and reduces the state to personal property without a constitutional foundation. We will continue mobilizing our members and partners for the Occupy Plateau protest and will not stop until all necessary actions are taken.

The outright and deliberate refusal to swear in the 16 members is a ridiculous and direct attempt toward anarchy and portrays the judiciary as uncoordinated and lacking the capacity to abide by its decisions.

These shameful attempts have denied the affected constituents their rights to equal representation and the dividends of democracy. They are denied projects like boreholes, electricity, hospitals, schools, and a host of other interventions empowered by House of Assembly laws. Even distributions from both the federal and state governments ought to reach these constituencies as well.

The ridiculous lies being peddled by the purported Speaker and some government officials about a non-existent court injunction by the Federal High Court in Jos stopping the swearing in of the 16 members-elect show how far these people and their agents are willing to go to undermine democracy and the rule of law. For the record, there is no court injunction anywhere stopping the swearing in. It is on record that the Federal High Court in Jos rejected all grounds for the order seeking to stop the swearing in. Therefore, there is no single legal encumbrance that prevents the swearing in of the 16 members-elect.

In the spirit of patriotism and duty, we call upon the Inspector General of Police, the Minister of Justice and Attorney General, the National Security Adviser, and all other relevant law and security formations across the country to rise up against the anarchy and direct disobedience to the highest court of the land.

Finally, we bring to the attention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu the direct negative involvement of the Plateau State Government in refusing to swear in the 16 members.

By today's press briefing, we are bringing to the attention of all concerned authorities our readiness and activities towards hosting the Occupy Plateau peaceful protest currently under preparation.

Our teams comprising technical, media, logistics, and coordination units are fully inaugurated to commence actions in earnest.

God bless the good and peace-loving people of Plateau State. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Thank you and God bless.

OPEN LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT
His Excellency
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCON)

Your Excellency Sir

I wish to start by congratulating you on the numerous developmental strides which are begining to yield positive results on the economy and the polity.
Your Excellency, I wish to bring to your notice undemocratic activities going on in my dear home state of Plateau, where the speaker of the state house of assembly has vehemently refused to swear in fifteen All Progressives Congress Party(APC)and one Labour party members-Elect as ordered by the courts since December 2023 when they were issued with certificates of return by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Your Excellency sir, as it stands now the Plateau state house of assembly which comprises of Twenty Four(24) members representing Twenty Four (24) constituencies in the seventeen (17) local government areas of the state, now has only Eight members representing a mere 33%of the total number, with 67% of these seats in the state house of assembly vacant.
This has left a larger percentage of the Plateau people 67% unrepresented in the state house of assembly with the speaker acting as Deputy Speaker, Majority leader, Minority leader and Chief whip. This is totally unacceptable and has hundred the trikkling down of development to the grass root.
Your Excellency sir, the APC in Plateau state despite the odds delivered over 300,000 votes to you during the last election, it is our hope that you would use your good and exalted office to intervene in the political imbroglio currently bedeviling the Plateau state house of assembly as a proof and testament to the fact that we have not been abandoned.
Thank you sir and may God continue to guide you as you steer the ship of this great nation.

dalongjnr:
Very unfortunate for plateau state.
The two former governors(Jonah Jang and Simon Lalong) that left really dealt with the state, most especially Simon Lalong.
Just borrow money to loot same.
Left unpaid salaries, over inflated uncompleted projects, vandalised and left with operational vehicles and assets of state......... No,no,no..... Solomon Lar,Joseph Gomwalk....... Wept for plateau state.

It seems the current governor is trying to outdo along and hang in the area of incompetence
He allowed bandits and Fulani herdsmen to roamed and killed at will, without any for of stringent efforts by the state government and national forces. It was pathetically unacceptable for someone to fall from such a graceful and noble duty of care and services.

This 16 billion was borrowed to offset salaries of civil servants and gratuities owed by the out going n government. Mind you, the state civil servants were on strike before inauguration of the new government hence the need to borrow.
How much did he received as subvention, etc from the federal government in that period??

PoliticsPlateau State Borrowed 16.32 Billion In 6months by shayiD(op): 10:11am On Mar 31, 2024
*In six month Plateau state has borrowed N16.32 Billion -DMO*

In the first six months after taking office, 13 new state governors collectively borrowed N226.8bn from domestic and external financiers.

This emerged as findings by Sunday PUNCH showed that 16 state governors also increased the debt profile of their states by N509.3bn with domestic and external debt of N243.95bn and $298.5m (N265.37bn), respectively.

The external debt was calculated based on the exchange rate of N889/$ used by the Debt Management Office in its report.

This is according to an analysis of the latest sub-national debt reports released by the DMO.

The sub-national debts are classified into domestic borrowings from local creditors and external borrowings from international creditors like the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.

The domestic and external debts published on the DMO’s website were as of December 30 and June 30, 2023, respectively.

The states, which include Benue, Cross Rivers, Katsina, Niger, Plateau, Rivers, Zamfara, and the Federal Capital Territory, got N115.57bn from domestic creditors, while governors of Ebonyi, Kaduna, Kano, Niger, Plateau, Sokoto, Taraba and Zamfara states borrowed $125.1m (N111.24bn) from external sources.

For the sub-nationals, a further breakdown of the data showed that Cross Rivers Governor, Bassey Otu, took the highest loan, with N16.2bn from domestic and $57.95m from foreign creditors between June and December 2023.

Katsina State followed with the debt surging by N36.93bn from N62.37bn to N99.3bn by December 2023
.

Third on the list is Niger State, with a domestic debt of N17.85bn, surging from N121.95bn in June 2023 to N139.8bn by December of the same year.

Plateau got N16.32bn; Rivers borrowed N7.07bn; Zamfara, N14.26bn; and the FCT under the leadership of Nyesom Wike borrowed N6.75bn from domestic creditors.

For foreign debt, Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State accumulated external debt of $37.54m, while Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State borrowed $17.69m from external financiers.

Similarly, the governors of Kano borrowed $6.6m; Niger, $1.27m; Plateau, $831,008; Sokoto, $499,472; Taraba, $1.51m; and Zamfara, $655,563, from external sources.

Despite declarations by the administration of President Bola Tinubu that it would not continue with the massive borrowings of the previous government to fund its expenditures, the latest developments show that the new government is sticking to the controversial policy amidst increased revenue.

In 2023, state governors got the most Federal Account Allocation Committee allocations in at least seven years. The rise in FAAC allocations to the three tiers of government, especially the states, followed the removal of subsidy on petrol and currency reforms by the Tinubu administration. The reforms have reportedly led to a 40 per cent boost in income.

An analysis of the 2023 FAAC monthly allocations revealed that the sub-national and local government councils got the highest allocation of N627.73bn in September, followed by N610.5bn in December, N555.75bn in August, N533bn in November, N514bn in July and N497.97bn in October.

ENIGMATIC2023:
I Didn’t Kill Usifo Ataga- Chidinma Denies Killing Super TV CEO

The suspected killer of Usifo Ataga, Chidinma Ojukwu has denied killing the late CEO. Recall that when Chidinma was arrested by Policemen initially, she confessed to killing the CEO. However, in a new interview with Crime Fighters, Chidinma explained that she didn’t kill Ataga. This new interview has come as a shock to many Nigerians, owing to the fact that the suspect actually confessed to stabbing the deceased multiple times in her first confession.

Read what she said in her new interview below,

“I went to withdraw money from the ATM and when I was leaving, he locked the door after me. When I came back, I noticed that the door wasn’t locked and the duvet was on the floor. The couch was facing the door and the bed was stained with blood already. The floor was bloody and the TV was on. The room was disarranged like someone broke into it. I was afraid that if I raised an alarm, I would be arrested for the crime. I packed my things and left the room. I took the bag that contained his ID card and bank statements. I took his phone and later I withdrew more money from his atm. He already told me that he was going to give me the money. There was no 5 million naira in my account. I don’t have anything to do with his death.  I know someone did it, but I don’t know who the person is. I don’t know what happened when I went to buy the food. I did not kill him. I believe someone knew where we were and waited for me to leave to do what they did. I decided to take the blame initially because I was scared. No one is influencing my statement.”

My Friends, These are some of the Bandits, Boko Haram Terrorist and other criminals we arrested. None of them have been released. If those keyboard warriors and Sympathizers of Criminals spreading False News that Bandits are not being arrested have any Evidence that one of the hundreds of arrested Bandits Shown above is released or Given Amnesty they should show the world pls.

We are arresting Criminals and killers from all parts of the Country, in-fact as you can see above the Overwhelming Majority of Killers and criminals we arrested in Nigeria today are the Bandits and Boko Haram.

Our teams are all across the country fighting criminals and killers and we all know with Nigerian population today and Ratio of 1 policeman to 700 Nigerians we can’t stop all crimes at once.

Also all good Nigerians know with the Pictorial Evidence above and very limited Resources at our disposal, We are doing our best with our small Unit IRT which is a Very small fraction of the Nigeria Police.

I have received more than 100 threats from Boko Haram, Bandits, Kidnappers,Armed Robbers and other Criminals. We have Sworn to depend our Country against all evils hence We will never relent.

Boko Haram, Bandits, IPOB/ESN, Keyboard Warriors and their Sympathizers can continue wasting their time with threats and blackmails, it can’t work. All the Securiy agencies will never relent and all the Criminals and killers across the country will be defeated Soonest by GOD’s Grace.

GOD Bless Nigeria.
