Business / Re: What’s The Biggest Lesson Being Broke Has Taught You by sheDD(m): 3:52pm On Apr 23
Godsonkemz:
That was when I completed nysc and could not boast of 30k in the account. I was reduced lower than a church rat. Even church rat could afford to eat left over food in the church.

After exhausting the little I raised during NYSC, searching for jobs, I was left with nothing.

But God changed my story.

Funny enough then I was broke, I had more good female friends who wished I had money than now.
i wish u can throw more light in ur "after nysc life"

Those telling you to go for SQL before Power BI are not wrong, cos you can't effectively work with Power BI if you have zero knowledge of SQL. Reason being that Power BI is all about getting data for analyzation and visualization. And most of the sources of your data would be from SQL (adventure works data base...)

For me, I'd say run both concurrently.

Pls any material you have at ur disposal for these sql and Bi

I think those that applied and got the letters did so in March.
I applied in march
Amd nothing yet from my own ends.

But i met the requirements
What could be the issue then
Programming / Re: Chronicle Of A Data Scientist/analyst by sheDD(m): 8:20pm On Apr 15
Nazgul:

Excel is elementary. Download power BI and learn how to visualize clean and your data with it.

Then download SQL and it's database (adventure works and adventure works data management) this will help you work with sample data.

Finally, learn python. Data analysts with knowledge in Python are priced higher world wide in terms of payment than an ordinary data analyst with knowledge in just Excel and Power BI.

Good luck on your journey.
Thanks for your feedback

So u are saying
I shuld check powerbi wen I'm done with excel then Sql
But then some said z sql b4 powerbi
Which one do you think i shuld go into after excel??
Sql abi Powerbi

The lot of Nairalanders will not understand or value this post. There are too many kids in their twenties on this forum. They come here to talk sh1t about women as though they don't have mothers, sister or aunties. They say only a fool gets married and everywoman is olosho. They call good men simps etc.

I laugh when I see people come to Nairaland to seek marital advise. These kids will call your wife olosho and tell you to send her packing just because there is a little misunderstanding between you two.

Many of them are actually the real simps offline. They only come here to talk rubbish and go behind to do hurrible things for and with women

Seun needs to do something about it fast.

@OP, thanks for this post. As a married man, I find it helpful.

but these kids live in the society
They see the despicable things most women do on daily basis. No too blame them wen dey call women names
They see things too

Have u worked or sleep in an hotel 4 days before??

DataAlchemist:
there are lots you need to know in Excel ( from importing a file to formulas to functions and dashboards)..but follow Alex the Analyst and Mike girvin on youtube to make learning more easier..

And data visualization is the last stage of data analysis (before reporting tho) so make (tableau and powerbi) the last thing to learn, after excel, go straight to sql, become proficient using sql and excel, then you can move on to power bi
where does python come in

1. Python (Data Analysis) - 3hrs
2. Python (Development) - 3hrs | Ardit Sulce's MegaPython course on Udemy (Strongly recommend for aspiring python programmers)
3. Excel - 2hrs

Ps: SQL - Did a course on it already. Still need to do some revision though.

So, what did I do this night:hey!!
You still continued in the anlaysis jprney
How far so far!!!??
Can we have talk time pls....??

Currently on page 138 for Python for Data Analysis - Mckinney. Learnt about transposing a dataframe using the .T method. Also the .index.name and .columns.name method for dataframe and series. And finally the .reindex method which allows you to reassign the index of the rows and columns of series and dataframe objects. See examples below:

In short you don't need to leave your initial background before breaking into tech, and when you choose data analysis do not be tempted to move higher by learning artificial intelligence or deep learning without having solid experience as a junior data analyst..The data you learn with online, is entirely different to the volume of data you will have to deal with out there in the real-world.. as an R user I will say why learn caret when you can't even work with tidyverse package??
can i have a talk time with you.
Can you allow it??

I am also a class of 2015.
You shouldn't have stayed in the village after NYSC. No opportunities in the village. You were so comfortable in the village.

I worked as a classroom teacher in Lagos after my NYSC . I was earning N13k monthly. They later increased it to 20k in 2017. I was learning Programming while working as a teacher. I later resigned to work as house boy where I was earning N60k monthly. I resigned after 3 months due to maltreatment from my boss's son. I was employed as an intern in a tech company, I wasn't able to implement the tasks assigned to me, so I dumped the company.

I kept learning, I don't give up. To cut the long story short, I now earn between N250,000 to 300,000 monthly as a software developer.

Just learn a skill. Leave your comfort zone if you are not making meaningful progress.
