When you pay, you should know what you are paying for. You have the right to know. Thus, you should detects and smells foul when it is ridiculously low or ambiguously high.

can custom be disturbing after a car has been cleared, delivered and sold, over signing of sss, ciu and ndlea. I sold a car tokuboh to somebody since may, he was calling me now that custom waylaid him on the road that they did not sign sss, ciu and ndlea on examination sheet. Pls your advice. BC iam going to custom office at Ibadan tomorrow to drag it with them. Cheers

Simple answer Capital YES. In fact it takes about 10years after clearing before you can be free of 'harassment'. Perhaps more reasons you need to bank on reliable agent.

Caution: please, before you go to 'drag' with them, try and press your agent to know if he even paid full duty so you will know how to handle it when you get there and get your vehicle back without provoking them to be unduly checking the vehicle status on their system. Because the complain shows a lack of improper examination on the said vehicle. Even he did pay in full, once those agencies were boycoted, you have no case. Plain fact, na settlement things o. And after, do detach that examination sheet to avoid another story that could 'touch'.

Terminal & Shipping agency charges vary slightly by terminals & are not negotiable. Other agent may charge more or lower for their running expenses and service charge, but to use our service, simply add 72k for cars, 85k for mini G.P (General Purpose vehicles), buses, and space bus, then 100k for G.P (Jeeps) to the total duty.

I will start posting FOB value soon so you can calculate your own duty and be rightly guided.

Import Duty is based on CIF (Cost Insurance & Freight). CIF is derived by multiplying the custom exchange rate with the 'assumed' dollar value of the vehicle (FOB).

The FOB (Free on Board) value is the the value in usd. You multiply the cost by 155 (current customs ex. rate), what you get is CIF. To get the surface duty (amount payable on the vehicle before other charges) multiply the CIF by 35%. Thereafter, multiply the surface by 1.281 (7% Surcharge, 0.5% ETLS & 5% VAT). What you have is the total duty.

The new tariff @ 35 % peg value of majority of same vehicles @ same FOB values, with subtle differnces. For cars, Jeep, Mini jeep, Bus and space buses of same year, their rates are virtually d same. Except some few exceptions to vehicles treated as big engine like BMW, Merzedez, and Jaguar. Usually above 2001.
