i intend shipping from galveston port with hoegh autoliner,dont know much about this autoliner whether they port at tincan or apapa.
also any update on the 70% tariff increase by customs.

Accura and Lexus will cost you 750 and 800 respectively to clear.

The update, that is sustainable now is that the customs says the 70% does not affect used veicle but new ones (2013, 2014 models). But agents see that as a trap as some claim they still give old vehicles the new rate. I will update you on the latest as soon as we have a concrete information.

Hoegh uses Apapa terminal.

I was in Ibadan office of Nigerian Customs Service on Monday (15/09/2014) to process document for a vehicle, but there was deadlock as I was told to wait for them to confirm first because of the new order that came from Aabuja with 'immediate effect' clause. I left in horror because there was no way through.

Getting to Tin Can yesterday (Tuesday), I met the unusual lull. To confirm the rumour, I went straight to Custom Processing Centre, CPC (Long room, 1st gate), the valuation section and I was categorically told that 70% has been implemented as that time (around 2:30 pm) but that they are already reversing it to 35%. But, till the close of work hour yesterday, no one I know of has collected value to confirm that.

The PTML terminal that usually spearhead this kind of stuff was locked down yesterday. Today, we'll have a clear picture of where we are going.

And please, do not rush to give any agent 70% duty money, because for now, apart from it authenticity, on what value the levy is imposed ( CIF, or current value) giving rise to unknow of what value will come out is still a subject of debate. Be warned.

PS: this is a red flag, a sign that the new policy will come into effect before next year janurary. All should be aware, and make your shipping on due time.
