Kindly help. How is the new renewal thing being done? I learnt the renewal dates are not available on the interview Schedule page. please advise

This is not the first time a thing like this happened. A promising young man died in same manner sometimes in 2009. The calamity happens when the phone rings while you are using the torchlight to operate your generator. Those of you that are waiting for empirical proofs, have you ever asked of the empirical proofs when you are told not to operate your phone while in a filling station? Why do you think the warning is there? Don't you always see the emission when you open your petrol tank?

You will begin to ask yourself, what do I do after knowing how the points are calculated. The first step is to know whether your skill/occupation is among the skills/occupation required or needed for migration. There are two (2) types of list which I will explain below.

1. Skilled Occupation List (SOL)... Find the link below

Where your occupation is in any of the two lists will determine what subclass you can apply for. If you see your occupation in SOL list, you can apply for subclass 189, if it is on CSOL list, you can apply for either 190 or 489 which are states/regional areas sponsored visa. However, you can find your occupation in both list, it means you can apply for any of the three if you don't meet up to 60 points on your own, you will need either 5 or 10 points from State or Regional area as the case may be.


On the list, in front of each occupation is ANZSCO code and Assessing authority. The code is the occupation code for easy reference and the assessing authority is the body responsible for assessing your claimed skill/occupation and qualification.

Once you find your occupation on any of the list, go to the assessing authority website to know requirements needed for your assessment. Each assessing authority has different requirements, so it is not a one size fits all. All the assessing authority can be reached by clicking them on any of the list (it will direct you to their website).

Some assessing authorities require that you meet a minimum level in English language by writing IELTS/TOEFL/OET/PTE while some do not require English language score. Detailed information can be found on your assessing authority's website.

Because you need points from English language test, there is no rule as which is to do first, either write English or assess our skill. However, for those that their assessing authority requires English language test, you must write one first before submitting application for assessment. If your body doesn't need the test before assessment, you can write later or same time as assessment. Endeavour to score at least a proficient score as outlined above to get minimum of 10 points depending on your circumstances.


Once you get a positive response/assessment from your assessing authority, you are 80% done with the application. Next step is to fill in the Expression of Interest which can be found in the link here https://skillselect.gov.au/SKILLSELECT/ExpressionOfInterest/PreReg/Start

After filling the EOI, wait to be invited, once invited, apply for your visa... do medical test and police report, then wait for your visa approval which unlike before is no longer slow to be approved.


If you are diligent and follow the process through, it should take you maximum of 9 months from scratch to visa approval going by the current trend...

Good day, please I want to ask if these assessing authorities do interview applicants to actually confirm that he/she actually is skilled in the skill he/she nominated. How do they confirm that the person actually has/gains the skills?

They said shortlisting would be done week commencing 27th April but I have not received any mail (successful or not) from them. My application status still reads 'Application under Consideration'. Please nairalanders, what is the duration of the Intercontinental Bank Training?
Some people say the duration is six (6) weeks while some says it runs through ten(10) weeks. Which one should I believe because I'm going for the training in Kano next week.
  I'll also like to know the amount they pay as allowances during the training period.
Anybody with useful information, especially those people that just completed the training or those at the training currently should let us know.

They will ask u question also on your course of study, especially your final year project. You'll be asked how the project is related to the job u are applying for. Does anybody in the house know when the next intercontinental Training for those of us that did our interview in Kano in February take place.We've been waiting for any info but we've heard none. Any useful info please!!!!!

I did my medicals on that same Wednesday after d interview. Please when are we going for training? Anybody with useful info should let us know

My friend who worked with the Bank in Kebbi checked it for me; he said that the results were taken to all the branches in the N/E. He was the one that even submitted my CV for consideration last year.
I believed that it ought to have been pasted at the regional office by now.
If u submit ur CV in LAGOS, i believe u'll sit for ur exams in Lagos
The test format is strictly IEC Gmat, word for word. The one we did in Kano was from 2006 Gmat

The Results of the test conducted on 1st December at Rumfa College is out. If u were one of us that sat for the test, check ur results at the Regional office at 146, Murtala Muhammed Way, Kano. I've sent somebody to help me check and my name is in the list of those that passed the test.
Those of u who don't know how to apply, just drop ur CV at one of the Regional offices or at the Bank's Hqtrs @ Danmole Street, Victoria Island, Lagos. Whenever its time for them to conduct another test, ur name will be included.
