Former governor Adebayo Alao Akala has been picked as the governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) for the 2019 general elections, insideOYO.com has reliably gathered. Alao-Akala Campaign Organisation in a statement released in Ibadan on Sunday, enjoined all faithful and loyal supporters of Alao-Akala to collapse all Structures and Groups within the ALAO-AKALA political family into the Action Democratic Party (A.D.P) with immediate effect. Akala had earlier pulled out of the APC gubernatorial primaries has been given certificate of return to be the party’s flag-bearer in Oyo state. He had accused Ajimobi of imposing Joseph Tegbe on the delegates. But Ajimobi’s Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy, Mr Bolaji Tunji, described Akala as a respected politicians who has played a good role in fostering unity in the party, reminded him that Ajimobi once met the aspirants and advised them to pick a few among them that will go into the primary. Tunji explained that the governor has emphasized severally at the meeting that he has not anointed any of them. He added that the aspirants, who were originally up to 26, did not get back to the governor on those they have chosen to participate in the primary. The governor’s spokesman said it is not uncommon for aspirants to come up with excuses and unsubstantiated allegations when it becomes clear to them that they may not win an election.

I have always told whoever cares to listen that Omisore's style of politics is not progressive. He is more of a business man who sees politics as a jungle to success. In any case, i discouraged people who were celebrating him and i made it clear that with or without Omisore, i would win this election for Gboyega Oyetola. Whatever agreement anybody has with Omisore is without the knowledge of Asiwaju Bola Hammed Tinubu, Gboyega Oyetola nor myself. The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Oyo State,
has lost one of its two remaining senators, OYO
INSIGHT can authoritatively confirm.
Sen. Adesoji Akanbi, who represents Oyo South in
the Nigerian Senate this afternoon registered himself
as a member of the African Democratic Congress,
ADC, at his Ibadan North West local government
area.
The APC had in 2015 won all the three senatorial
seats in Oyo State. The party lost one of the
senators, former speaker Monsurat Sunmonu, who
represents Oyo Central to ADC.
As it stands, APC has only Dr. AbdulFatai Buhari
as senator from the state.
Akanbi, this newspaper had hinted, decided to leave
the APC following the insistence of outgoing governor
Abiola Ajimobi to return to the Senate where he left
in 2007.
Confirming the development to OYO INSIGHT,
Akanbi, who is a former House of Representatives’
member said he registered at the party’s Ekotedo
secretariat, adding that he would address his
constituents through a press conference soon.
OYO INSIGHT learnt that Akanbi had established
talks with the leadership of the party weeks back.
Recently, he was said to have met the party’s
leaders in the state, which included Chief Rashidi
Ladoja, Chief Michael Koleoso, Dr Busari Adebisi
and Chief Olayiwola Olakojo.

An online news medium had reported that Ladoja collapsed and was rushed to the hospital . Obasanjo ends Ladoja, ADC group rift

Former president Olusegun Obasanjo has mediated in the rift threatening the unity of the African Democratic Congress in Oyo State with the Unity Forum , which threatened to pull out of the coalition , expressing its readiness to work with the Rashidi Ladoja group in the party .
The Unity Forum , which seceded from the All Progressives Congress after a disagreement with the Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi over the party congresses, issued 72 -hour ultimatum to the national executive of the ADC because of a disagreement with the Ladoja group over the congress allegedly conducted by the former governor in the state .
Secretary of the forum , Wasiu Olatunbosun , told our correspondent that ahead of the expiration of the ultimatum , a meeting was scheduled between the forum leaders and Obasanjo, where all areas of disagreements were ironed out . He said the meeting with Obasanjo birthed another meeting between the forum and Ladoja on Sunday.
He said , “Obasanjo directed the national chairman of the ADC , its legal adviser and the national publicity secretary to discuss with us and end the misunderstanding with Ladoja and his group . It was unanimously agreed that we harmonise the composition of the executive in Oyo State .
“The Unity Forum was given the state chairman, who will come from the Oke -Ogun area of the state , and nine other executive members out of 29 positions. We were also directed to meet Ladoja for another peace meeting which we had on Sunday. We have been able to resolve all our differences . It was a good deal for all the groups that came together to fortify the ADC . At the meeting, Ladoja expressed his displeasure over the disagreement , stressing that it was important for us to work together to end APC reign of terror and impunity in the state . ”
Olatunbosun said that after the meeting with Obasanjo and Ladoja , the forum in Oke -Ogun, Ibarapa , Ogbomoso and nine out of 11 councils in Ibadan reached an agreement to remain in the ADC . He , however , pointed out that a few members who felt that their continuous stay in the coalition would be affected opted to seek the nomination in other parties .

The Department of State Services says the agency is not investigating any case of certificate scandal against Senator Ademola Adeleke. Adeleke is one of the leading governorship aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State , whose primary election is slated to hold on Saturday (today ). The Internet was awash with a story alleging that the senator did not have a genuine ordinary level certificate when he contested the Osun West Senatorial District by - election in July 2017 and that he was arrested for using a proxy to write the West African Senior School Certificate Examination for him at a village. A group known as the Renewal Youth Movement had in the report asked the senator to produce his certificate or be ready to be dragged to court if he failed to do so . But when contacted by our correspondent on the telephone on Friday, the Director of the DSS in Osun State, Mr . Brown Ekwoaba, said the agency was not investigating any case involving the senator . Ekwoaba said, “ I have heard that rumour or speculation or whatever it is called , but as far as I am concerned , we are not carrying out any investigation of such. We don’ t have such case here. ” Meanwhile, Adeleke has described the allegations against him as lies fabricated to discredit him ahead of the party’s primary holding today . Adeleke, who said this through his younger brother , Dele Adeleke, in an interview with our correspondent, described the story as falsehood . Dele said , “ How can anybody believe such a story ? You know the kind of opposition that rose up against him last year. Do you think the APC would not have raised the issues if he did not have the authentic certificates ? “ Also, you are free to go to the school he attended and verify .
