Politics › Court Sacks Ogun Monarch 13 Years After Installation, Declares Appointment Illeg by SheikhMuniru(op): 1:08pm On May 13 |
The Ogun State High Court sitting in Ota, on Tuesday, nullified the installation of the Oniro of Iro, Oba Najeem Aromaye, ordering him to vacate the throne 13 years after his emergence. The presiding judge, Justice O.O. Osunfisan, in a judgment delivered in Suit No: AB/292/2013, held that Aromaye’s nomination, appointment and installation were unlawful, illegal and contrary to the approved chieftaincy declaration guiding the stool. The court subsequently set aside his appointment and awarded N1m as cost against the defendants. PLATFORM TIMES reports that the suit was instituted by late Prince Adeleke Joseph Oniyide Adebari and Prince Kamoru Akindele Adebari on behalf of members of the Oleyo Ruling House of Iro Township. The claimants through their counsel, Bar. Saliu Bakare, had challenged Aromaye’s emergence, insisting that he neither belonged to the Oleyo Ruling House nor to any of the recognised ruling houses entitled to produce a candidate for the stool. PLATFORM TIMES further reports that Iro Township has three recognised ruling houses Oleyo, Apetu-Mata and Eribi—which are to produce candidates for the Oniro stool on a rotational basis. Following the death of the last monarch from the Eribi Ruling House, Oba Gafar Ayinla Sanusi Ogunrinde-Oyero IV, in May 2012, it became the turn of the Oleyo Ruling House to nominate a successor. However, evidence before the court showed that the Oleyo family, after deliberation, declined to present a candidate, citing the absence of a qualified nominee that met criteria set by the Iro Council of Chiefs, particularly in terms of education and influence. The family thereafter formally ceded its turn to the Apetu-Mata Ruling House in the interest of peace and development of the community. Despite this resolution, the Iro Council of Chiefs allegedly disregarded the decision and instead put forward Aromaye as a candidate, claiming he emerged from the Oleyo Ruling House. The claimants told the court that the decision was vehemently opposed by members of Oleyo, who maintained that Aromaye was not a member of their lineage and had no connection to any of the recognised ruling houses. https://platformtimes.com.ng/court-sacks-ogun-monarch-13-years-after-installation-declares-appointment-illegal/#google_vignette

Politics › Re: What Yayi And His Supporters Don't Know About Ogun State Politics by SheikhMuniru(m): 7:48am On Apr 14 |
helinues: I have been reading from mostly outsiders supporters, who believe that Senator Yayi can use the influence of president Tinubu to win the Ogun state governorship election.
I will give some hints how the politics of the state is being played.
Ogun central is mostly the decider of most of the elections in the state which comprises of Egba and Owu. Both are only separated by ancient stories, they do everything together. Food , language, culture and most especially politics.
Awori region, they are more closer to the Owu's geographically but they are more aligned to the Egba's politically and in other stuffs.
Yewa axis which Yayi is from, the first established people from Ogun central, Egba and took the advantage of the Benin border to relocate or just have a house with wives and kids there. They started the politics of the region and their generations have been in charge.
Remo and Ijebu are normally seen as one but when it comes to politics, they don't share same ideology. Only the Reno's have been producing the governors from that axis, Ijebu are yet to. If Ijebu is aligning with Ogun Central, the Remo mostly look to Yewa axis and some crumbles left in Ogun central , same as if Remo is aligning with the Ogun Central.
The mutual decider of the election will still be Ogun central with the influence in Awori and Yewa plus either Ijebu or Remo will fall along.
If you can't appeal, convince the Ogun central people why you should be the governor of the state most especially when the Sango Ota road have been in dilapidated situation for decades.
You are currently representing that constituency, but if you want to come to Abeokuta from Sango, you take a long route of Lagos Ibadan expressway linking back to NNPC.
Even if it's not the duty of the senators to build roads, but your major assignment is to oversight the FG. If those roads have been awarded severally and nothing have been done about them, what precisely have you been over sighting? Will you finish what you started here with this great news below 👇 https://www.nairaland.com/8653191/senator-solomon-adeola-yayi-adoptedI told you YAYI is the only choice in Ogun State but you resulted to argue blindly! |

PACIONS: Thank you my brother. I understand your point. But democracy is about giving people choices. Sometimes people also want new ideas and new leadership.
What matters most is good plans and good service to the people. If the people believe in the vision, they can support it.
Let us continue the discussion. And please tell someone to tell another person. Together we can make Abeokuta North better. For been a nairalander, I will vote for you on the day of election but I am not voting for your governorship aspirant! |
