Episode 36 Dear Diary, 31st July, 2019. Ah! I swear! Some people just dey wish death upon themselves like bonus data from MTN. It is like some people have been marked and cursed, inclusive their entire family members and relatives, plus their generations unborn. Check am out, diary. You no say beyond all reasonable doubt, dem don wash your head for river before. You know this quite all right. And to compound issues, you still use your own hand to place your own head inside a fiery furnace! Until it starts to burn and smell like grilled dog meat suya! Diary, no be triple wahala be that? Today, I arrived at my husband's place around eight or so, with my small bag which I used to pack a few things that I took to my mum's place. I didn't see Praise's car in the compound and I was a bit relieved that he wasn't home tonight. I was looking forward to seeing the surprise on his face when he comes home and finds me. And just as I was about letting myself into the house, I sighted Diana! She came in a cab and the driver helped her to carry her fat luggage into my compound. She didn't see me, probably because I was standing by one of the pillars close to the front door. She paid the driver and called the security guard. She instructed him to carry her luggage into the house, then she cat walked to the front door like she owned the place. When she saw me standing a few feet away, she froze in shock. I believe she didn't expect to see me. I don't know if by chance she found out that I moved out some days ago. If she did, maybe she thought I wasn't coming back. Maybe she thought it would take a long time before I settle things with my husband. Maybe she even prayed that things wouldn't work between Praise and I. I believe she was hoping that my absence will endear Praise to her and she would be able to manipulate him with her rotten body and convince him to forget me and probably replace me with her by legalizing their illicit affair. She must have thought that I would be too hurt and unwilling to return to my matrimonial home. This mad witch actually came to claim my husband and move into my home. What if I didn't listen to my mum? What if I had been clouded by vengeance and hoping to make my husband suffer? Praise would have come home toady and met Diana in his house. I doubt if he would have been strong enough to resist her charms and chase her away. I don't even want to think along that line. I am just glad that I came home when I did. Long story short, the white witch looked like she was going to pee on herself. I didn't waste time at all. I bombarded her with series of questions. "What are you doing here? Is this your house? Do you live here? Who told you that you can come and go as you please? Don't you know that a married man lives here? Who is he to you? Don't you know that he is someone's husband?" I went on and on and on. From the corner of my eye, I saw the security guard standing by. He didn't touch Diana's luggage. The bags were where she left them. The white witch regained her composure. She eyed me from hair to shoes and told me that at the stage she had gotten to with my husband, she could have him all to herself with the snap of her fingers. And there was nothing anyone on planet earth could do about it. My brain began to ring like those church bells hanging from the the roofs of certain buildings. I cursed her. I told her that she wouldn't end well. And her daughter would partake of all the calamities that would befall her speedily. She got angry and started shouting that I shouldn't mention her daughter's name. She said I should remove her daughter from the equation. The girl had nothing to do with our fight. I told her that she had just roped herself with generational tribulations because she intentionally lured my husband into her lustful net and also because she was unwilling to leave him or stay away. And her daughter won't be spared when things come crashing down around her. Diana began to boast that nothing can happen to her or her daughter. She said that, all I was doing was talk-talk. That my words had no effect on her. That my words lack weight and it carried no power. Diary, my brain started to burst. She dey my house and she still get mouth to talk? Abi? I kukuma enter house, drop bag, jam kitchen, kon arrange some mixture of dirty smelly oily water... from left over plates and pots. I guess my husband turned the kitchen into a bachelor zone when I left. I carried the smelly liquid outside. Diana was still boasting, walking to and fro, so she didn't see it coming. One, two... fiiii-amm! From wig to shoes, she was drenched. My God! She smelt worse than a sewage pit. And I didn't pity her one bit. She coughed and coughed and held her throat... I think she got some of the smelly water in her mouth. Yuck! She started to scream and almost started to cry too. I stepped away and ordered the guard to throw her out. I also threatened to sack him the day Diana step a foot into my compound, whether I was in or out. The security guard didn't waste time. He pushed her out and throw her luggage after her. I don't know how she got home tonight and I didn't care. I went back in, took a long bath and changed into a nightwear. I was dozing in the sitting room when Praise returned home. He called out my name thrice or so, in order to make sure that he was actually seeing me. He must have thought that he was hallucinating. When I told him that I had return to stay and work things out, Praise became teary. The pain in his eyes made my insides to turn upside down. My husband was also hurting, just like the way I was. He was remorseful and repentant. And this was a good thing. It means that there was still hope for us after all. Praise sat on a chair close to mine and he promised that he had already stopped seeing Diana and he was no longer picking her calls or responding to her messages. He had also blocked all her lines and there was no way she would be able to reach him except she came to his office or our home. He informed me that he had told his staff at work not to allow her past the bakery gate and he also instructed the guard not to allow her into our home. I bluntly told Praise that Diana showed up that night and he lost it. He was genuinely pissed. He promised to reach her and warn her to stay away. He was willing to go as far as getting a restraining order. Praise made a lot of promises tonight and it is only God that can help him to keep them all... with my support, I guess. One thing though, I was no longer comfortable in my own home. When I walked into the house this evening, everything looked strange and I felt out of place. Praise must have sensed it too. I noticed that he was watching me as I look around the sitting room. The image of how Praise was banging the white witch hasn't left my head and sitting there with him that moment, it wasn't helping at all. My husband told me that we will be moving out of our house and relocating elsewhere before Christmas this year. He said that he has already made plans to sell the house. This house used to hold happy memories for us, but now, its filled with ghost from our past and if we truly want to move forward and work on our relationship, we can't do it in this house. It's just not possible. Praise agrees with me. So, come December, we will be moving to a new place. I can't wait o, diary! Need to sleep now, I am dozing again. Praise is already in the bedroom. I think he must have fallen asleep by now. Thank God will have about a dozen pillows. I will be able to build a wall in between Praise and I. I don't think I can handle been touched by him just yet. No skin to skin for the next couple of weeks. God help me. This is the situation I have found myself, diary. Please keep us in your prayers. |
