SASSY AND SLAYING: DIARY OF A SINGLE NAIJA BABE EPISODE 6 Dear Diary, 21st, January, 2016. I… I have not written anything since Saturday. Today is Wednesday. I… I didn’t go to work today. I am on a 3 day leave. Yes, a leave. A very necessary leave. Why? It’s a long story. I don’t even know how I am going to write this. I have been dreading putting all my thoughts down on paper. I have not been able to wrap my mind around everything that happened to me. I think I am in some kind of mental-limbo… My right hand is actually shaking as I pen this down. And… and… and I am crying again. Oh God! Give me a minute, diary. I will be right back. I am back. Phew! Taking a much needed deep breath, now… I have been crying since Saturday night. I am not sure I can stop the tears from spilling all over my face. Just the thought of what happened bring tears to my red and achy and puffy eyes. I am not sure I can write this. I am a mess right now. Maybe I will write tomorrow… I don’t know. Just… just hold on. Okay, let me try. My world came crashing down on Saturday night. I am not exaggerating. My entire world exploded before my very eyes on Saturday. It all started when Benson came to my place and picked me up. I was dressed to kill and poor Benson could hardly keep his eyes off me. As he drove to Korede’s place, he kept telling me how beautiful I looked, how the dress I wore fitted me perfectly, how the way I styled my braided hair made me look like a beauty queen, my God! The guy went on and on and on. And of course, I basked in his multiple compliments. Benson told me that we wouldn’t stay long at the party because he wanted to take me to a place, a private place, somewhere we could be alone, where we could talk. He said there was something important he wanted to share with me. And he also has a question to ask. I knew that he wanted to confess his undying love for me and ask me out. Finally! I could hardly wait to leave the party when we got there. I wanted to be alone with Benson. I wanted to hear all he had to say. And yes, I was ready to say ‘yes’. The guy wasn’t bad and I was sure that a relationship with him would work. We saw both junior and senior staff at Korede’s party and the duplex was packed full with people. Where did they all come from? I heard that he paid three caterers to take care of the food and the drinks. None of my business… he can waste all his money on frivolities for all I care. Benson and I found a good seat. We ate, drank, danced and we agreed to leave the party before ten. Steve, our colleague, came around and borrowed Benson for a while. He promised to bring him back in a few minutes. While I waited, I kept checking the time. It was past nine and I couldn’t wait to leave. I saw someone that looked like Clara and when I stared at her long enough, I realized that she was the one. She was standing at a corner with some girls dancing. They were scantily dressed, drinking from a bottle of Champagne, dancing and twerking with abandon. They caught the attention of some of the guys around, but I found their actions too desperate for my liking. Out of nowhere, the birthday boy came to sit by my side. He was so happy to see me and he said I looked like a sexy bowl of honey. I got irritated when he started to lick his lips and stare at me as if I was a piece of suya meat. He asked me to dance with him, but I declined. I didn’t want him touching me unnecessarily, in the name of dancing. I looked around for Steve and Benson, but I couldn’t find them. I assumed that they were hanging around somewhere. I wished and hoped that Benson would return to my side, so that Korede could get up and leave me the hell alone. He signaled to one of the boys serving drinks and he ordered for another glass of banana milkshake for me and Vodka for himself. While he talked about nothing in particular, I sipped at the sweet creamy and chilled drink. Suddenly, my head wobbled and I began to feel dizzy. I stifled a yawn and the feeling passed, then, it started again. I didn’t understand what was happening to me. I got up immediately and I started to look for Benson. I didn’t like the way my body was feeling and I wanted to go home. Korede came up behind me and asked who I was looking for. I told him that Benson brought me to the party and I needed to find him, so he could take me home. The last time I saw him, he was with Steve. The birthday boy claimed that he saw them chatting close to the balcony with some of the staff. The dizziness made my head to sway again and my legs began to feel like melting butter. Korede grabbed me by the waist and led me up the stairs. He said he would take me to Benson and I believed him. Oh diary… the next thing I knew, I found myself in a large room. This wasn’t the balcony. It was a bedroom. A well-furnished room. Where was Steve and Benson? When I turned around, I saw Korede grinning at me as if he had won a million bucks. My legs gave way and I crumbled to the rugged floor. Then it dawned on me that I had been drugged! I was sure that it was Korede that drugged my drink. How and when? I couldn’t even fathom. Oh diary… I am blinded by tears right now. I can’t see what I am writing. Give me a moment… I am back. I… I remember feeling weak… my hands, my legs, my whole body went limp! I felt Korede’s hands around me, he lifted me up and carried me to the King sized bed. I began to cry. I begged him to take me to Benson. I wanted to go home. But the bastard told me to relax. He said he was going to be gentle with me. The thought of what he was going to do to me sliced through my brain like a hot iron rod. I tried to get up. But my whole body had turned to a lump of jelly. I could move a muscle. I knew that I wouldn’t be able to fight him off. I began to pray to God, asking him to let the drug wear off. I begged God to help me find Benson and lead him to the room. If Benson showed up, he would be able to set me free from this predator. I started to beg Korede again. I cried. I pleaded. I made promises I knew I would never keep. I threatened him. I even cursed him. I told him all members of his family and relatives, including his generations unborn will know misery and disappointment for the rest of their lives and they will all die painful and drastic deaths. But nothing worked. His mind was made up. I could see his dark sexy eyes burning with lust and desire. I closed my eyes and prayed to God to save me. But, God didn’t answer me. No thunder, no lightning. No nothing! The hopeless dog yanked off my shoes and unzipped my dress. He literally dragged the dress off my body and tossed my lingerie aside. I was totally naked! Like a cow on heat, he pulled off his own clothes and joined me on the bed. I wanted to scream and shout and yell. Maybe someone out there would hear me, despite the loud music. I tried and opened my mouth, but I couldn’t shout. My vocal chords wouldn’t respond. I felt his breath as he pecked me on the forehead, then on my cheeks, then he kissed me. His wretched balloon lips slid down to my neckline, then my chest, till he swallowed one of my boobs and squeezed the other with his cursed hands. One after the other, he sucked and chewed and licked and squashed my boobs! His manhandling hurt! The son of the devil didn’t stop there. His lips drew a line towards my navel, and down to my well-shaven ‘PP’. Oh diary… that animal, the useless fowl ate my moist flesh until I came again and again! I was like a broken tap. I couldn’t stop it and I hated it! I cried and cried, because it wasn’t what I wanted. This wasn’t consensual. I was held against my will. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he crushed my body with his weight and drove his over-erected, rotten steel-like third leg into me! I gnashed my teeth and I tried to push him away, but my body was still weak. I began to pray again. I prayed that the drug in my blood stream would lose its effect, so that I could get my strength back and fight the monster on top of me. The God-forsaken excuse of a man was on top of me for over fifteen minutes, pounding me as if he was making pounded yam. The more he rammed into me, the more the walls of my moist ‘PP’ began to tear. I knew that I was going to get multiple bruises in there, if he continued at that rate and with that speed. I closed my eyes and prayed that it would end soon. I gritted my teeth and waited and waited. The pain I felt inside got worse. His rock hard cucumber was tearing my inside into bits! Suddenly, the door opened and someone walked in. I turned and I saw Benson. Our eyes met and he staggered back. I opened my mouth, I tried to scream and call out to him to help me. But, my vocal cords had gone dry and hoarse. My lips moved, but nothing came out. No words! Not even a tiny squeak! I tried again, but I could only whisper his name… “Benson…” I doubted if he even heard me. He just looked at me sadly. He looked at Korede with disgust, turned around and marched out of the room, slamming the door behind him. Oh lord! Right there and then, I almost died. Benson was supposed to rescue me. He was supposed to deliver me. He was supposed to push Korede away and carry me out of the room, like a knight with shining armour. I was a damsel in distress! Right then and there, I had a feeling that Benson must have thought differently. He came into the room and saw Korede pounding into me like a locomotive engine and I didn’t say a word. I didn’t scream in protest! He must have thought it was consensual. He must have thought… oh God! Oh Jesus! The guy must have thought it was consensual. But, couldn’t he discern? Couldn’t he see that I wasn’t enjoying what Korede was doing? Couldn’t he see that I was in pains? Couldn’t he…? The bastard didn’t even notice that someone came into the room and left. Maybe he did and didn’t care. He didn’t even stop! He just went on and on and on until he came and yelled in ecstasy. He slumped and lay on top of me for the longest time, breathing as if he was being chased by a thousand werewolves. I lay there, still unable to move and I wept and wept and wept. He rolled away and doze off. The bastard slept off! I wished he would die in his sleep. But I could hear him breathing, still. When my strength returned, I ran. I grabbed my clothes and my shoes and I ran. The house was empty by the time I got to the living room. When I checked my mobile phone, I discovered that it was past midnight. I got into my clothes and ran to the gate. The security guard let me out and I stood outside the house, on the dark and empty street, not knowing how to get home. I scrolled through the numbers on my phone and called the taxi driver that often took me home from work, whenever Benson was unavailable. Luckily for me, he was still in town. He was actually heading home after dropping off his last customer. I begged him and promised to double the fare. The guy came in less than forty-five minutes. I thanked God, even though I was still upset with God, because he didn’t save me from Korede. I can’t even remember the time I got home… Oh diary… my Saturday was a nightmare… it was the worst four, five, six hours of my life. I curse the day Korede Nelson was born! I curse him! I curse him! Oh diary… |

Some of us have 9-5 jobs... Some of us are full time writers... Some of us run other businesses... Joggling all these with writing on nairaland and our personal lives can be hectic... Then there are so many cons... e.g... predators in form of bloggers, impostors, etc would take your story and post it on their websites and blogs without asking for your permission. Some even go as far as saying they wrote these stories. Then some wicked ones are now selling our stories on dubious websites.... Just imagine seeing another person earning a profit with your own sweat... Speaking for myself... |

SASSY AND SLAYING: DIARY OF A SINGLE NAIJA BABE EPISODE 5 Dear Diary, 17th January, 2016, It’s Saturday. Weekend came at last. I have been expecting it since Monday. Now that it is hear, hallelujah! My week has been busy. Got home late every single day. Once I step into my apartment, I yank off my work clothes, eat, shower, and straight to bed. This has been my routine day in, day out all through this week. I have been too tired to write. So sorry diary. But, I am here now. Missed yah terribly. I know you missed me too. I promise, I will not abandon you again. Mrs. Nkiruka and I were at loggerheads this week because of the workload she placed on my schedule. She ended up giving me a bonus after the close of work yesterday. I was happy and surprised at the same time. Margaret Thatcher has a heart after all. The woman appreciated all the leg-work and extra burden of work I did during the week. You need to hear her talk. I was indeed flattered. She can be nice if she wants to be, I guess. But, she is always shielded with this macho-woman exterior, with an invincible wall between her and us. Most times, she acts like it is her against the world. Rolling my eyes now… some people sha. That’s her own cup of tea. I am thousands of naira richer. Compensation for the work I did for her. Happy I am. Clara and Steve were green with envy. Those two are not well. I asked them for help many a times, but they keep telling me that they had their own to-do list. Bad belle people. Benson was the only one that was happy for me. He knew how hard I worked and he knew I deserved the bonus. But, Clara and Steve wished that they could get bonuses too, without the work. I laugh in French. Na so eh easy? Make dem park wella abeg. I ran into Korede again. That guy is so, so full of himself. The mere sight of him irritates me. He reminded me about his birthday bash. Not surprised. I am sure he wants all the staff in the office building to come see his house. Is he the only living in a duplex? Who is he deceiving? Am hissing now… I am not going. Period. I would rather party with the cleaners in the office than go to his over-exaggerated party. Am hissing again. I told him that I will try and clear my weekend. I told him I might come, but I am not sure. He was happy regardless. Dumb-ass! It is konji that will kill him, last, last. Enough about Korede. Benson gave me a ride home every day this week. That saved me a lot of money. Money I would have used to transport myself back home every day. I think we are getting kind of closer. He is more relaxed around me and I kind of find him more appealing. The guy is not bad. He has a good heart and that’s important. Compared to the likes of Korede and other flirts in the office. Yesterday, before he dropped me off, he told me that he wasn’t sure if he would attend Korede’s party. He said he would call if he was going to the party. And he would pick me up if I wanted to come along. Thinking about it, Benson might be the only reason why I might attend Korede’s party. At least, I get to spend time with him, even if we would be in the midst of more than a dozen people. Now, I wonder how many people Korede invited for his party. What’s my business anyway? It is his money. It is his party. It’s already 3pm. Benson hasn’t called yet. Maybe he isn’t going. Suit me fine. I might as well rest and prepare for the new week. I slept most part of this morning. I did some laundry when I woke up around eleven, I think. But, by the time I got to the back of the building, there was little or no space on the clothing lines. I met Timi, Itoro, Cassandra, Sam and the childless couple, Thomas and Ivie, arguing over the clothing lines. Apparently, they also washed their clothes. We argued, exchanged words and the whole scenario almost turned into a violent conflict. Nevertheless, I was able to spread some of my clothes on the lines. I took the rest of my clothes back to my apartment and spread them over the bathroom door, the kitchen door and my front door. I hope they would dry before dusk tomorrow. My siblings called earlier, while I ate lunch. They wanted to visit momsie today and they asked if I wanted to come along. Tufiakwo! Those two better leave me alone. After they abandoned me at her place the other day, they want me to tag along again. I told them that I was busy. I aren’t visiting my mama anytime soon. They should go alone and leave me. It is not by force. I am not even in the mood for that woman’s wahala. Kia… is she the only mother on planet earth whose children are not married? Abeg, mama Adanne, free us o. That woman can disturb for Africa. Thinking about it, I don’t blame her sha. If dad was alive, she might be too distracted to bother us. I miss my daddy. I know she misses her husband too. If I ever get married, I hope my husband and I will grow old together. I see too many widows and the kind of struggles they go through no be here. I don’t ever want to be in their shoes. We are all mum’s got. I know she is eager to see her own grandchildren. God willing, before she ends up six feet beneath, she will see every one of them. I can’t wait to be married either. I can’t wait to start having kids of my own. And I solemnly swear, when it is time for them to get married, I will not disturb them the way my mother disturbs myself and my siblings. My phone is ringing! It is Benson! Give me a moment diary. I dey come… Am back! Phew… Benson is going to Korede’s party and he wants me to come along. Yes, I am going. Can’t be locked up in here while others party and have fun. I told him I will be ready in the next hour. I have got to get ready diary. I have the perfect dress. Shoes and jewelry to match. I am going to look breathtaking. Benson will not be able to drive by the time he sees me in this outfit. Maybe I might be able to convince Benson to leave the party early, so we could tour Lagos and catch our own fun. I definitely do not want to spend all night at Korede’s party. I am so excited right now. Got to go diary. I will gist you after the party. Bye diary. Mwah! |

SASSY AND SLAYING: DIARY OF A SINGLE NAIJA BABE EPISODE 4 Dear Diary, January 12th, 2016, I am sitting on one of the two-settees in my apartment, my diary on my lap, a biro in my hand, whilst my eyes are fixated on the television. Momentarily, it flickers to these pink pages too. So, I am watching a soap opera and also writing at the same time. It’s a repeated episode. This makes it possible for me to divert my attention as need be. I can write as much as I want before the new episode starts. Today is a Monday and I came back from work some hours ago. Benson actually dropped me off at the junction, after buying me dinner at Mama Cass eatery. Hmm… I am smiling sheepishly tight now. The guy planned it. The moment I left my desk and headed homewards, he shut down his system and followed me out. He gave an excuse that he was tired and needed rest. I laugh in French. Tired indeed. I know the guy is just looking for every opportunity to spend time with me outside the confines of the office building. Who would blame him? I am equally enjoying all the attention and freebies attached to it. When Benson drove off, I saw Sam, that SU brother living in my compound, and his choir sister friend. They were walking towards the junction, chatting and laughing to a private joke. These two looked very suspicious. No wonder Itoro and Cassandra concluded that they were dating. Who cares? Anyone can date whomever they desire. It’s a free world after all. They walked past me without saying a word. I assumed that they didn’t see me. And even if they did, I don’t need their greeting. It is not by force to see someone you know and greet them. Why people feel entitled to these things, I will never understand. You are not feeding me, neither are you paying my bills. Yet, you want me to greet and salute you morning, noon and night. Amaka why? Are you Gadafi? Or Idi Amin? Or Adolf Hitler? Abeg, shift. Park well. When I got to my door, Itoro and Cassandra were standing outside Itoro’s front door, gossiping about everyone living in the compound. Sometimes, I wonder how Timi copes with his girlfriend’s incessant gossip section with Cassandra. This has gone past normal. Anyways, today, I heard them talking about the landlord and the tenants that were still owing the man. I can’t believe they know all the names of everyone that were yet to pay their rent fully. If I was owing, I would have been added to their discussion. Oh Lord… I said hi, they responded and I went into my flat. I had a good dinner. Semovita and melon soup with catfish. God bless Benson wherever he is oooo. At work today, Mrs. Nkiruka turned me into an errand girl. I was sent to deliver files and documents to her superiors and colleagues. Whatever happened to fax, emails and Microsoft outlook? She could have sent the soft copies of these files to these people, instead of turning me into a post master. My legs are still aching from walking around in high heels. There were times when I couldn’t wait for the elevator to descend and I had to use the stairs. Those torturous agonizing moments were the worst in my whole life. God punish you Mrs. Nkiruka! On my way back to the office, I think I had just left the Accounting Department. I ran into the office flirt, Korede Nelson. He worked in the Legal department. He is a good lawyer, from what I have heard about him and he is very, very handsome. He is dark skinned, almost as dark as charcoal, with very dark sexy eyes, broad shouldered, curly hair and with a baritone voice. You can say that he is every woman’s dream man, but he disgusts me. Why? He knows he is cute and he uses what he is got to get what he wants. Both old and young ladies in the office are drooling all over him, including the married ones. I know for a fact that he has slept with almost every woman in our company, Skylight Properties. Including married women. The fact that he thinks that no one can resist him or say no to him repulses me. He is too arrogant for my liking. The fact that he thinks that because he drives a Prado jeep and lives in a three bedroom duplex in Ikoyi, makes him an irresistible catch, makes me wanna puke. My first week in Skylight Properties, this dude came hard on me. He came with gifts and flowers. Gave me a ride in his jeep and drove me past his duplex once, thinking that I would be swept off my feet. But, I stood like an unshakable rock. No amount of money can buy my love and attention. This is what makes me different from several other slay queens out there. I turned him down the first time he asked me out and the second time and the third time and the fourth time and he has not given up yet. He is still asking. Every single opportunity he gets, including today, he still asks me out. I am not willing to join the long list of women he had used and thrown away like thrash. I heard his relationships do not go beyond three weeks. I heard he spoil his women silly, sleep with them from dusk to dawn, then break up with them when they least expect it and go after another catch. Who does that? Why should I put myself through such an ordeal? I am looking for love and a lasting relationship that can lead to the altar. I am not looking forward to be used by a dog, a useless fowl who hops from one bum to the other. Tufiakwa. He asked me out again today. And of course, I told him not in this lifetime. I would rather hug a transformer than date the likes of him. I would rather tie myself to a huge rock and jump into the lagoon than go out with him. Even if he is the only man on planet earth, I would rather live and die single than be with him. He talked about his birthday bash which was coming up this weekend. He wanted me to come and he gave me an invitation card. I collected it, knowing fully well that I will not step a foot in that guy’s home. No need encouraging and fueling his pursuit of me. I am simply not interested. Nothing is ever going to change that. He knows it, I know it, yet, he is willing to chase me to my grave. God help me! Get him off my back before I do something drastic. I heard he is related to the ogas at the top. If not… Enough said about Korede Nelson, let’s talk about Benson. My sensitive and adorable Benson. I think he is going to ask me out before this week runs out. I might as well say yes. He is not that bad. Maybe it might work out after all. What have I got to lose? And at long last, I would also be able to get my mum off my back. The next time she talks about marriage, I will gladly introduce Benson as a potential suitor. Problem solved. Hey! The new episode of the soap opera I was watching have started. Got to go diary. We will talk later. Probably tomorrow… Night night. Mwaooooh! |
