aieromon: Be prepared to wait for as long as six months especially if its to be done in Lagos. I will start processing mine in January and I hope I spend less time.

not as bad as you paint it. U can reduce the time spent by doing part of the work your self from the link I posted earlier, you take the form to their processing office where u will fill some forms and do eye test and basic driving test (more of road signs), after which you are scheduled for data capture and given a temporal one to use pending when the original comes out and that's usually about a month. I know this because my boss did his recently and I am schedule for data capture later this month (dec 2012), I spent roughly 3-4hrs there for the processing. Start early because they will be a mad rush next year coz I think the old one will no longer be valid.

Please Please and Please, do fill the online form on https://www.nigeriadriverslicence.org/ and make payment before going there. It can be the different between spending extra funds or spending days to do what you could have done in one day. HOpe this helps. Please I can only say this for those in lag o, I dont know about other places, I did mine at Sura, not far from obalende.

Siena: Sorry bud, but 40 psi is NOT the required tyre pressure for a Toyota Corolla. Even if fully laden, 40 psi is not the correct pressure.

Boss, you seem to be right, I just google it and it says that it should be between 32-35 psi and is usually written at the door of the car.

I jst went to dig out the manual, it says

"Cold tire inflation pressure, kpa (kgf/cm2 or bar, psi):
For driving at speeds of 160km/h (100 mph) or over 250 (2.5, 3.6)
For driving at speeds under 160km/h (100mph) 210 ( 2.1, 30)"

This is a very rude shock and a total deviation from what I had considered the norm, this is actually suggesting that the tyre pressure should b 30psi. Hmmmm the tyres will look low o.

Have you ever wondered why tyre pressures are so important? What are the effects of running over or under inflated tyres. Cirencester tyres explains all....



It is important to ensure that your tyres are running at the correct pressure. But why? Take a look at the picture below to get a glimpse of the effects. The diagram is "over exagerated" for illastrative purposes.





From the diagram above you can see that tyre pressures greatly affect the surface area of the tyre that is in contact with the road. With less of the tyre in contact with the road, you are sacrificing grip which inevitably will also increase your braking distance.

Under inflation and over inflation will also affect tyre wear. As you can see in the diagram, an under inflated tyre will wear the inner and outer edges of the tyre and an over inflated tyre is more likely to wear the centre of the tyre.

An under inflated tyre increases the rolling resistance of the tyre. This will have a negative effect on fuel consumption. So if you want to save some pennies and help the environment, ensure you run the correct tyre pressures!

What pressure should my tyres be and how do I know this?

Tyre pressures vary from tyre to tyre, vehicle to vehicle. Most manafactuers will place a sticker on the car. This is normally located inside of one of the doors or on the inside of the fuel cap. Alternatively they will be listed in the owners manual.

Tyre pressures should be checked when the tyre is cold unless otherwise stated. This is because the pressure increases as the tyre heats up. You should check your tyre pressures at least once a month.

Got up at about 5:30 to clean up the car, by the time i was rounding up, the day was getting brighter and noticed the front tyre was going down, but trust me, using my portable tyre pump I simply plug it into the cigarette lighter and pumped my tyre to the required pressure (40Psi).
