MrBrownJay1:
When women in Nigeria are brainwashed from their childhood about marriage being their salvation/happiness. Therefore they are rightfully BRED to be sold to the highest bidder (via bride price), thus making these women see marriage as a DO or DIE issue... As a result, many would desperately marry whatever donkey coming their way, out of social/family/religious pressure, and finally get the Mrs status (aka "I am happy now" ), while in fact the majority are miserable.

Do you really think that after all the above trouble to get where they are, they will divorce the beast they've married? Hell no, they will be called Mrs until death do them part.
this is deep

I personally as a gentleman, is an advocate of non-violence in marriage, I find it totally inhuman for a man to raise his hands on his wife. (clap for me grin)

But also I am not naive of the violence occurring everyday, I have seen a couple fight on their honeymoon night- check your community you will see violence in lots of family.

Today I saw a post where a popular celebrity admitted publicly she has been violated by her husband for years but decided to keep it a secret. She is just one in millions enduring, tolerating this sort of violence. Most are ashamed to tell others, hoping things will work out for good since its for better for worse.

I am curious to know what the woman should do in this type of situation, especially when the man is unrepentant. Should she endure, enjoy and keep it secret or walk out of the relationship?

As a fresh graduate who just finished serving, there are 3 options available for you to choose from: get a job (mostly teaching jobs); go for your masters; or remain jobless (job search). If you get a job quickly, then you are lucky but if you are jobless then you are like most Nigerian graduates.

Because of lack of job, there is always this pressure to further your education- you don't want to remain home jobless and also some there is a myth that an MSc Cert is an added advantage (don't know if that is true sha).

To be honest, most of us wish to further our studies, and even become a Doctor, but the circumstances in Nigeria are jeopardising our dreams. I personally have decided that I won't go for my masters now because of the under listed factors:

1. Certificates are overrated:
it is now very obvious now that it is not by the number of certificates you garner that determines your success in life. We have seen drop-outs and people without formal education that are more wealthy and successful than scholars. People are making it now by learning new skills that will benefit the society.

2. Finance:
Unless you are from a rich home, it will be difficult for you to finance your masters. You need like 25k to buy only the form, you will pay tuition, buy books, get accommodation and so many other expenses. I know people that started but couldn't finish because of finance. People believe that at this stage you should be able to cater for yourself so you are on your own (OYO)

3. Age:
Most companies now recruits only graduates that are 26 years old and below despite the average graduating age from Nigerian Tertiary Institutions 24-26. So going for masters will add to your age and probably you will come back older which will limit the job offers you get.

4. MSc doesn't guarantee a Job:
They do say it is an added advantage but it is pathetic to me that even after the Msc you will still come back to send resumes, cover letters and also battle with some wicked dragnet aptitude tests. If it is sure that after my masters I will be offered a job then to enrol won't be a problem.

5. Frustration:
Nigerian educational system can be really frustrating; irregular academic calender; lack of infrastructures; some lecturers are not nice. e.t.c all these can discourage someone planning to go back.

The Nigeria Police, FCT Command has paraded six persons in connection with the recent assassination attempt on the Senator Representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye.

Melaye was recently attacked at his residence at Iyala, Ijumu LGA in Kogi State.

Subsequently, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim K. Idris, swiftly deployed Police Special Tactical Squad (STS) team to unravel the circumstances surrounding the attack and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Addressing newsmen on Saturday while parading the suspects, the Force PRO, Moshood Jimoh said the suspects were arrested by crack team of the force deployed by the IGP during the week.

Jimoh said among the suspects were Taofiq Isah, chairman Ijumu LGA Kogi State and his orderly, Sgt Ede James.

Others he said include, Ade Obage, Abdullahi Isah a.k.a Eko, Ahmed Ajayi and Michael Bamidele

Items recovered from the suspects include, one Ambulance Hyundai Bus, five AK 47 rifles, one berretta pistol, two locally made single barrel shot gun, 25 expended shells of 7.62 mm ammunition, 13expended shells of 9mm ammunition and twelve (12) expended shells gauge cartridge

He said, “In compliance with the Inspector General of Police’s directive on the attack and attempted assassination/murder of Senator Dino Melaye carried out on 15/04/2017, at Iyala, Ijumu LGA in Kogi state, the operatives of the IGP Special Tactical Squad swung into action and after ten (10) days of painstaking and sustained surveillance between 16/04/2017 and 25/04/2017, successfully arrested six (6) members of the vicious and notorious Hired Assassins gang responsible for the attack and attempted assassination/murder of Senator Dino Melaye carried out on 15/04/2017, at Iyala, Ijumu LGA in Kogi state namely:

“Taofiq Isah (Chairman Ijumu LGA Kogi state) according to the investigation so far, is the mastermind of the executed attempted assassination/murder of Senator Dino Melaye. He was alleged to have directed one Abdulmumini a.k.a Iron, now at large (who was said to be his Personal Assistant) and who in turn recruited other members of the vicious and notorious hired assassins mentioned above.

“Ade Obage, 29 years voluntarily informed the Police that he has the knowledge and information about the attempted assassination/murder attack of Senator Dino Melaye after the attack was carried out. He further informed the investigators that he was contacted to join the gang by Abdullahi Eko a principal suspect now in Police custody.

“Abdullahi a.k.a Eko, a native of Adavi town in Adavi LGA of Kogi State was arrested and he confessed to the crime and admitted to the criminal roles he played along with the other suspects in carrying out the attempted assassination/murder of Senator Dino Melaye. He also mentioned other members of the gang who are still at large and that they used the Ambulance Hyundai bus and Five (5) AK 47 rifles for the operation. The Ambulance was recovered behind the Ijumu LGA Secretariat in Kogi State.

“Ex- Sgt Ede James, (Orderly to Chairman of Ijumu LGA Kogi State). He is the Police orderly to the principal suspect Taofiq Isah, the Chairman of Ijumu LGA in Kogi State whose phone was used for communication for the planning of the failed assassination/murder of Senator Dino Melaye. He was arrested with a serious criminal link to another principal suspect Abdullahi a.k.a Eko who is an active member of the gang.”

He added that the firearms recovered have been sent for Ballistic expert examination, test and analysis at the Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department in Lagos.
