2016 BATCH 'B' (STREAM II) ORIENTATION COURSE COMMENCES 24TH JANUARY 2017

The NYSC Management wishes to inform prospective Corps members and other stakeholders that the 2016 Batch 'B' (Stream II) Orientation course will commence on Tuesday, 24th January, 2017.
.

The lineup of activities for the course is shown below:

a. Tue 24th - Wed 25th, Jan 2017 - Registration/verification exercise

b. Thursday, 26th January, 2017 - Swearing-in ceremony

c. Monday, 13th February, 2017 - Closing ceremony

Prospective Corps members are advised to report to camp at the scheduled date as registration/verification will end at midnight of January 25, 2017.

All are also to note that original copies of academic credentials and other documents uploaded during the online registration MUST be presented on camp for physical verification.

In addition, all Prospective Corps members MUST present medical certificates from government or military hospitals showing their health status before they will be registered and admitted for the Orientation course.

Management wishes prospective Corps members safe journey to their respective camps as well as a successful Orientation course.

A friend of mine asked me how it has been as a corper and he specifically wanted to know how much I have been able to save thus far. He was shocked when I told him I don't have any savings yet and don't think I will come up with any at the end of my service year.

I know I sounded not serious or reckless to him because he told me he was able to save during his time.

I don't like giving excuses, but I think I have a tangible one as regard to not been able to save. You don't expect me to save the same amount corps members saved few years ago when things were still a bit smooth. Things have changed but the "allawee" being paid remains constant.

The price for a bag of rice now is more than 20,000 naira; a litre of fuel is now 143 naira; almost the price of everything in the market have changed and you want me to save.

It is from this 19,800 stipend I am to feed, transport to PPA and CDS, subscribe for data(if you're an Internet freak like me), pay rent, pay tithes and contributions( if you're religious) and there are still people still looking unto you.

The allowance can barely stand for survival and saving it's far from it unless you are ready to starve. Some of us had plans to save before but just can't. Some corps members even resort to begging for survival.

The money is not enough that's why some corpers tag it "blood money". The government should increase it o

Hello all!

I am presently having a discussion with my friends and I have decided to bring it down to my second home, nairaland.

2019 is fast approaching and we are trying to come up with personalities and names that we think can be a formidable opposition to President Buhari if he chooses to re-contest in 2019.

Coming out with an opposition is not easy. Some of my friends said there is only one man that can oppose him; Goodluck jonathan. Other names coming up are Saraki, Atiku Abubakar, Dino Melaye, David Mark, Rochas Okorocha, Fashola, Oshomole, Chris Okotie. e.t.c.

It is as if we won't be getting anything new come 2019.

So dear Nairalanders, who do you think can be a formidable opposition to President Buhari if he chooses to contest in 2019?

The Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, has responded to allegations that President Buhari spent about $15 million for the treatment of his ear infection in the UK earlier in the year.

He was responding to the allegation by a renown journalism veteran, Professor Farooq Kperogi.

Mr Shehu, in a statement on his Facebook page said: “The disclosure on Professor Farooq Kperogi’s wall that President Muhammadu Buhari’s ear treatment in the United Kingdom cost a whopping six million pounds must have shocked many of the respected scholar’s followers.

“The story reads like an incredible tale by moonlight that belongs to a different era, which fortunately is now history. That’s when a fortunate lady saved $15 million for medical treatment!

“But was it possible that the account of this balanced journalism teacher was hacked? I will give him the benefit of the doubt.

“Given the austere president we have, Muhammadu Buhari would not have approved this amount if he was shown a six million Pounds bill. I won’t be surprised if the President may have asked if the fat bill was for the purchase of a brand new pair of ears.

“I’m prepared to share documents with Farooq, one of the brightest ever produced from the Bayero University Kano (BUK) that the whole treatment, including a follow-up visit by a specialist to Nigeria didn’t cost 50,000 pounds.

“For the records, the administration advanced a higher sum, but the President’s doctor returned the balance to the treasury.

“Indeed, it’s a new day, and President Buhari’s change mantra is real. Let no one confuse my fellow countrymen and women.” Shehu said.

Network marketing is a form of business model in which a distribution network is needed to build the business. The sales force in this type of marketing is compensated for the sales of the other sales people that they recruit. I know you must have come across with some of these marketers trying to sell something(s) to you via one means or the other.

Though the marketing strategy is legit, there are many strings attached and vast majority of the people who enrol end up biting their finger in second thoughts.

These system advertiser, keeping in mind the end goal to win you over - with the goal that they may get paid for the referral-can do anything to accomplish that. They tend to show a few qualities that are extremely irritating, some of them are listed below:

1. Indirect

The first thing that makes me furious about them, their attitude mostly is because they are not always direct (they always beat around the bush like criminals). You begin to wonder if they are truly marketers, entrepreneurs, thrift collectors, motivational speakers or even scammers because of their cunny approach. They are aware that coming directly will probably not be convincing enough.

2. Liars

Another annoying traits you find in them is that, most are liars. They lie to you about the large amount of money they have made from the business, cars they’ve won and how juicy the offer is when it’s obvious they are lying. The most annoying thing is that they always contradict their lies in the process of brainwashing their customers. I once saw a job vacancy online and applied but discovered it was a hoax by these marketers to lure people in when I got to the interview venue.

3. Stuckers

It’s as if you meet them everywhere you go: online; in the bus; classrooms; office.e.t.c. They don’t easily give up until they refer you to get the bonus. Don’t even make the mistake of giving them your phone number, email or home address if you’re not interested, else they will stuck and bug your life.

4. Unrealistic

Most of their explanations are passed through diagrams or stories that don’t seem realistic. They will tell you, you can become a millionaire in the next 2 months with only 50 dollars (why not advise me to go break a bank vault). They know people are too eager and desperate to make money, therefore they utilize that means to sell to them.

5. Market irrelevant goods

Some drugs, home utensils e.t.c., they don’t care if you are in need or interested in what they are marketing or not. They just want to hit the bench mark required by the company they work for.

NB this article is not in any way to condemn any company or person. I know I will be attacked by people and even friends but who cares? It is not that you really care I make it in life, you're just concerned about the bonus you will earn.
