Politics / Re: How NIPC Boss Was Fired For Embarrassing Jonathan On $20bn Tax Waiver - Thecable by ShortBlackBoy(m): 2:50pm On May 20, 2015
All this bullsh*t and the companies that received these questionable waivers were not mentioned.
Lazy journalism.

Small minds bicker about the politics while the main issues are:

1.Were there actually waivers?
2. If yes, who were the beneficiaries?
3. Were the waivers given on merit or not?
4. Can we recover the money from the so called companies?
5. Can we prosecute both the giver and receiver of these fraudulent waivers

Instead of addressing these issues, thisday is here telling me about staff being against executive secretary etc

Rubbish!!!

Beautiful writing Nne. I know you have written in pain and from the heart yet as I read on, I shamelessly wished it wouldn't end.

If there was a 'Mama Nigeria cum Mama Africa', your words would be her voice; your pain her tears.

It is difficult to read your write-up without getting emotional.

In the midst of your persecution, in the midst of your struggle, your pain and the hatred that surrounds you, you hold your head up high; taking pride in your family, your hard work, your perseverance, your education, your achievements and your writing.

This should be a model for not just foreigners being persecuted and subjugated in South Africa, but for virtuous people all over the world who are going through one struggle or another.

In fact, you are a woman of virtue. I am proud to know that your lineage is of the land of the rising sun -Nigeria.

My sister, things are not easy in Nigeria but you will do just fine. It's a lot better than it used to be. These days some of us can get jobs without knowing anyone, good paying jobs too. There are opportunities everywhere for those who can see them. A lot of people who were nobodies are doing very well now. From celebrity photograhers to tailors, decorators, designers, even mechanics etc.. Our market is so big that everything sells once you can guarantee good customer service and quality products. Only lazy people here also cry out that there are no opportunities. There are so many things you can do. You can even buy goods and sell on konga, jumia etc. Heck, you can even build your own if you have the focus.

My sister come back home. With this your grammar, blogs would love to hire you; if you speak as well as you write, TV stations, radio stations...

SO WHAT ARE YOU STILL DOING IN THAT GOD FORSAKEN COUNTRY? ARE YOU WAITING TILL THEY KILL YOU TOO? Please come home. You will do just fine.

As for those no good for nothing lazy South African blacks, I can't waste any words on them.

I'll suggest Bart Nnanji for minister of power

Conflict of Interest.
I hope that their due diligence procedure would include checks to ensure that the ministerial appointees do not have any conflicts of interest.

E.G If you are a major shareholder in a power generation/distribution company, or held a senior position, no power portfolio for you. We do not need your interest conflicting between that of your personal company and the interest of the country.

Politics / Re: Buhari Relocates To Defence House In Maitama, Abuja by ShortBlackBoy(m): 7:05pm On Apr 23, 2015
It's the responsibility of the government in power to provide adequate security for the president-elect.
Like it or not, GEJ remains the Chief Security Officer of the country.
And security of the president-elect is now a matter of national security.

So good move by the out-going administration.

Wishing the the incoming Buhari-led government God's grace, God's wisdom, peace, prosperity and progress.

And for the past leaders- as a man makes his bed, so shall he lie on it.

I hope this is the time that what has been going around will come and visit you guys.

Politics / Re: Xenophobia: BBC Recalls The Famous ''Ghana Must Go'' Policy Of The Nigerian Govt by ShortBlackBoy(m): 3:46pm On Apr 21, 2015
At BBC, if it is a bad story but without the Nigerian link, then you still have some work to do.
That's another xenophobia right there- the love BBC has for Nigeria.
Only equaled by the love Black South Africans have for their fellow Blaclk Africans.

Travel / Re: Xenophobia: View Of A Nigerian Living In SA by ShortBlackBoy(m): 4:32pm On Apr 16, 2015
madejibo:
My view on the Xenophobia attacks and the South African people. I will give a honest view as a Nigerian living in south Africa. Please note that this is entirely my view.
Let me first of all correct the notion that South Africans hate Nigerians, this is false, very wrong but I will get back to this.
The recent Xenophobia attacks started when allegedly the King of Zulu (alleged because I was not there) said the people should not wait for politicians before they chase out illegal immigrants back to their countries. This prompted locals of Kwazulu Natal to start looting foreign owned shops, in the process a South African woman was killed by a foreigner and this escalated the Xenophobia attacks.
These attacks were mainly in townships, which forced about 700 foreigners out of these affected areas. The South African government provided make shift accommodation for them.
Most foreigners that live in this townships are mostly foreigners that are on refugee status. In SA, we have a lot of these asylum seekers. It pains me personally when I see Nigerians going through harsh conditions to claim asylum. In the process of claiming this status, Nigerians lie and tarnish the image of Nigeria and a lot of South Africans know that these Nigerians are lying but they still approve their requests.
Back to the xenophobia attacks, most of these attacks are carried out by miscreants, who are in the minority and Nigerians are really not affected because you hardly find Nigerians living in the townships. Myself and my wife weren't even aware that it was serious until we started getting calls from Nigeria.
It escalated into the Central Business District of Kwazulu Natal (Durban) but in a swift response, the South African Police Service (SAPS) curbed the spread. In Durban's CBD, shops owned by South Africans too were targeted. There was apprehension that it was going to escalate to Johannesburg, yesterday, so a lot of shops in the CBD of Johannesburg were closed.
The president, Jacob Zuma has condemned it, South Africans on the streets have condemned it, more security agents have been deployed to the streets and peace seems to have been restored. Foreigners have been guaranteed safety by the SA government.
I said before that South Africans do not hate foreigners, actually they are warm people and I will give you reasons. I have schooled in SA, my wife too schooled in SA, a lot of scholarships and funding are giving to foreigners. How many African countries can do this? I have seen Nigerians going to the best schools in SA, from undergraduate level through to PHD level who enjoy absolutely free education, when I say absolutely free I mean it. This will include free accommodation and feeding. In some cases, some collect stipends.
A lot of Nigerians too abuse the hospitality and am so ashamed to say it. I won't even go into the dirty things which Nigerians do. I have been in a situation before that my wife suddenly took ill in the middle of the night and we rushed to a hospital, we got first class attention in a government hospital and it was free.
Yes, there are cases that as a Nigerian you feel that you are a foreigner, but seriously it is not anybody's fault. If you are an educated Nigerian and you schooled in SA, you are respected. If you have a white collar job, you are respected. A lot of Nigerians are Doctors, Lecturers, Engineers in SA. If Nigeria is right a lot of South African businesses want to move into Nigeria.
Also, a lot of Nigerians have married South Africans and you will see the spouses of the Nigerians ready to imbibe the Nigerian culture. This marriage issue, a lot of Nigerians too have abused it, Nigerians with wives at home have come to SA to marry for the sake of papers, some just marry for papers and a lot of South Africans are aware. The South Africans love our musicians and movies. The most popular station in SA (outside SABC) is African Magic because of. Nollywood.
In conclusion, have not heard of any Nigerian that was attacked in these recent clashes and I want to use this opportunity to thank those that contacted us to ask after our safety. We are fine!

Nairaland / General / Re: New Design For Nairaland Home Page by ShortBlackBoy(m): 5:23pm On Sep 29, 2009
Hi folks, I think the idea is definitely awesome. The colour tone, on the other hand, is rather too high. I believe we should be looking at a theme with subtler colours(most successful int'l websites use subtle colour combination. We might not even restrict ourselves to a single theme. Perhaps we could have a colour theme for each naira note colour. Also please don't forget perpetual phone browsers like me. We generally view smaller screens so a less clustered homepage would be wonderful. Great idea! Keep it up!
