The Attack on Democracy in Bakassi

What occurred at the ADC office in Bakassi, Cross River State, is not merely an attack on a political party; it is an attack on democracy itself. When thugs can storm a party office and destroy property without facing arrest, it reflects how dangerously low our democratic standards have fallen.

In the current state of Nigeria, what can we expect when leadership standards have plummeted to the extent that qualification, certification, and credibility are no longer deemed necessary for public office? The ability for individuals to present forged certificates for election sends a troubling message to our society. If we continue down this path, violence may become the future of our democracy.

We must recognize that fraud and violence cannot create true leadership; they will only result in chaos. This chaos will ultimately affect us and our children.

The Nigerian Army Headquarters announced that it had destroyed a bomb factory in Imo State and reopened roads that had been closed for more than three years. To support the claim, the Army released photos. However, sharp-eyed Nigerians quickly noticed that the Army blurred the location details on the images deliberately.

Further scrutiny revealed that the photos were actually from Ikorodu in Lagos State and parts of Oyo State with no connection to Imo State or anywhere in the South-East.

Following this discovery, many citizens have begun questioning the Army’s sincerity in the fight against terrorism and banditry in the country wondering how credible the campaign can be if it is surrounded by such inaccuracies and misleading information.

The complex was built and owned by the Federal Government of Nigeria, not Lagos State.
Federal assets belong to all Nigerians, regardless of ethnicity or state of origin.
If an asset is federal, citizens from any part of the country have the right to do business there

Gunmen abduct council secretary, two others in Ondo community

Gunmen yesterday abducted the Secretary, Okeluju Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mr Joseph Kayode Aladesuyi, on his farm and two others at the Kajola settlement in Ilu-Abo community in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Sources said Aladesuyi, who is from Irun Akoko, is also the Chief Executive Officer, JOTINA Farms, appeared to be the main target of the gunmen.

The farm is about five kilometres from the Akure Airport at Eleyewo community in Oba-Ile, Akure North Local Government Area.

The Nation gathered that the assailants who stormed the farm, waylaid Aladesuyi and his granddaughter, before shooting sporadically and marching the victims into a nearby forest.

However, the gunmen were said to have left behind the young girl and moved Aladesuyi into the bush.

Only determined army officers like General Azubuike Ihejirika have the resolve to confront and crush Boko Haram. During Goodluck Jonathan, he dealt with the insurgents so badly to the point where they were almost completely wiped out.
The pressure from General Ihejirika was so intense that some prominent northern leaders began to accuse him of genocide in the north.
There are officers like General Ihejirika in the army today but Tinubu will be too blind like a bat that he is to appoint them.
