lawani:
State creation if states are equal should be based on population and the SE has like 80 percent of Lagos population according to NIN data. Why should SE have the same number of states as the SW with more than double the population or NW with more than triple?

States should be for whoever wants it but they should not be deemed equal
The official last census figures by population commission puts the population of Lagos state at 9 million and population of Anambra State alone is over 4 million, Enugu state is over 3 million.
So where are you getting the NIN nonsense from?[b]

Nefort:
Just be honest with yourself, before Operation Python Dance started and before any protesters were killed, Nnamdi Kanu has been inciting violence through his radio Biafra broadcasts. He has a right to agitate for Biafra but they way he was doing the agitation was terribly wrong. The federal government made a mistake by killing innocent people but Nnamdi Kanu is also responsible for the mayhem because of his violent style of agitation.

When IPOB was beating up people not complying with the sit-at-home order is the federal government also responsible for that?

You can't fight the federal government of a nation. If you kill security personnel as revenge you will only end up making the situation worse. Security forces will come in again and kill more people. How does that solve any problem?
I am from the South East and I have firsthand knowledge of IPOB and Nnamdi Kanu’s actions. I have timelines of all the events and what led to what.
Many people like yourself probably don't know that IPOB was established way back in 2012 and they were never involved in any violence, they only carry flags, hold loud rallies. Nnamdi Kanu himself warned all members of IPOB against all acts of violence.
From 2012 to 2019, Nnamdi Kanu never called for violence, he never insulted Nigeria.

It was only in 2020 that he began the incitement, referring to Nigeria as a zoo and calling for members to arm themselves especially against fulani militia.
This escalation came after the federal government, through the military,
had killed many innocent Igbo youths,
carried out Operations Python Dance 1 and 2, unlawfully arrested and detained Nnamdi Kanu, invaded his house even after a court granted him bail, and killed his parents, while also proscribing IPOB as a terrorist organization.
Note that Nnamdi Kanu was first arrested in October 2015 by the Nigerian government. The reasons behind this arrest were not for terrorism but was tied to his activism with IPOB and his use of Radio Biafra to broadcast separatist messages. He was charged with treasonable felony.

Even the sit-at-home orders you mention were a direct response to the unlawful arrest and detention of Nnamdi Kanu. They were a form of protest by IPOB demanding his release. If the government had not acted in such an oppressive and provocative manner, there would have been no sit-at-home. Many believe that the way the government handled Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB was deliberately designed to provoke unrest in the South East and to justify the further killing of innocent people.

You cannot expect Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB members, or the innocent Igbo youths executed by the Nigerian state to feel anything other than resentment toward a country that treated them in this way.
Today, Igbo youths avoid the Nigerian military like a plague. They don’t enlist and show no solidarity because the military has made itself the enemy of the Igbo people. Today, we can all see the result in the current state of the military, its deterioration and lack of credibility.

Razzness:
So which of the Igbo states is too big? Land wise or population wise there are states in Nigeria that are much bigger than all the Igbo states yet they have 3 senators like the Igbo states. How is that being unfair, do you want the government to create more states out of thin air in the south east.

In the core South East, only abia State has substantial oil reserve and before oil was discovered there refineries have already been built in neighbourig states of Delta and Rivers. So would it not be prudent to transport the crude oil there instead of building a refinery abia. Moreover, what are the refineries in Nigeria doing, absolutely nothing.

South Eastern schools have more competitions, while nothern schools have low applicants that why their cut off mark is lower. It simple logic, not because the schools don't like Igbos.

IPOB has gone scot free after burning a police station in abia, and have repeatedly attacked police and soldiers in other states without any consequence.

South East is the most militarized region ke, have you been to Borno, Benue, Yobe and Other states.

South East have higher FAAC allocation than North east and north central, so what are you saying.

The new generation of Nigerians, understand that they are not victims, they will let go of the grudges that have held us back and work towards building a better country.
1.political representation has nothing to do with land size. It is about equal political representation.
Every state big or small in Nigeria has 3 senators.
So southeast with fewer states automatically have less representation, less political bargaining power and fewer federal allocations tied to the number of states.
North West: 7 states → 21 senators
South East: 5 states → 15 senators
This is a permanent structural disadvantage!

Representation is not calculated by land size; it’s calculated by number of states—and the South East has the lowest.
The point is that all regions were created politically, not naturally and the South East’s demand for balanced state creation is legitimate

2. Nigeria intentionally concentrated refineries and other oil infrastructures in certain regions because of political power distribution, not geography or efficiency.
If transporting crude is more prudent, why then did Nigeria build refineries in far away North (Kaduna), which has zero oil and requires pipelines running across the country? Without building one in the southeast which has crude oil and gas reserves?
The prudence argument collapses immediately...the only reason a refinery was built in kaduna was to give the North a sense of belonging.

Why is it taking the government of Nigeria this long to address this obvious inequality.

3. For schools cut off mark.
High competition isn’t the problem.
The problem is that the federal government santioned cut-off system that penalizes high-performing regions instead of expanding capacity and rewarding them, a system that punishes merit and rewards mediocrity is an anomaly!
Places with lower demand get preferential thresholds, which guarantees unequal intake and opportunity.

If the North has low applicants, that’s all the more reason to invest more in basic education there, not to suppress merit in competitive regions and kill the dreams of Igbo children which traumatize many of them forever. How exactly do you explain to a kid that their high score after rigorous studying is not enough to get them admission in the same school were kids from other regions don't even need to lift a finger for the same opportunity?

4. In the case of IPOB, no region has paid with the bloods of it's people for the actions of few like the southeast.
The atrocities Nigerian security personnels committed in the name of fighting IPOB in the southeast can only be equated to war time wickedness.

Many innocent Igbo people who had no business with IPOB have been killed and labeled IPOB
There was Mass arrests
There was Military raids
Illegal Detentions
Fighter jets were deployed to bomb villages.
Young teenage girls were labeled IPOB and turned to sex slaves.
Entire communities were touched by security officers.
Every Igbo person is regarded as IPOB member
Numerous killings of civilians wrongly labeled as IPOB/ESN. Worse still, the government did not investigate any of the killing of the innocent people which speaks volumes.

Meanwhile, other violent groups—Boko Haram collaborators, bandits, herdsmen militias have received negotiations, reintegration programs, and in some cases state-backed pardons.
So saying IPOB gets special freedom is misleading

5. Militarization: You are Comparing Apples to Oranges
Saying “Go to Borno or Yobe” as proof that the South East isn’t militarized oversimplifies the matter.
Yes, the Northeast hosts the military because it is an active warzone.
But the question is different:
Why does the South East without an active insurgency even before IPOB have the highest densities of checkpoints and federal security operations in the country? Do you know security officers pay huge bribes to the superiors to be posted to the southeast? Because of the money they'll illegally make from the people of the southeast?

A region with no declared war shouldn’t be treated like a war zone under siege.

6. The push for fairness is not a victim mentality.
Demanding structural balance is the foundation of every stable federation worldwide.
You cannot build national unity by telling one region to forget legitimate historical and political disadvantages.

Unity is only achieved by:
Correcting systemic imbalances
Ensuring equal political voice
Distributing national opportunities fairly

Equality Requires Honesty
Nigeria cannot move forward by pretending the system treats everyone the same.
The South East’s concerns are rooted in the undeniable mathematics of Nigerian federalism.
A country that seeks unity must first seek fairness.
And fairness begins with acknowledging the imbalance, not dismissing it.

Our fathers endured this shameless, daylight injustice because the Nigerian state and it's collaborators took advantage of the peaceful nonchalant nature of the Igbo man to cheat him out in everything.

But this generation, we don't have the patience of our fathers and will not sit quietly and continue to absorb disrespect.
We’re not begging anymore, we are not waiting, or pretending anymore.
We will take back control of our future and make sure our children never inherit this engineered injustice. If we don't do it nobody will do it for us

Razzness:
You can't give a single case of Igbo oppression in this country, in fact I think Igbos are treated extra nicely because of the war. Igbos are among the elite population in this country with the liberty to live freely, conduct business and thrive in every nuke and cranny sometimes at the expense of the indigenous population (not saying it's bad).

The only grudge some Igbos may have is that we have not had a president of Igbo descent. But you and I both know that it is not state policy that is to blame here. Its just the dynamics of the Nigerian politics which makes it so. I hope and pray for an Igbo president in our lifetime.
You are funny.
Why is south east the only region with only 5 states? While other regions have 6 and 7 states?...this means less representation in the senate and house of reps. Less allocation from the Federation account. E.t.c
Why is no refinery sited in the southeast despite having the most viable crude oil?
Why do south east children need to score 150 to gain admission into unity schools while the some part of the North only need to score 9?
Why is it that when criminals kill any security personnel in the southeast the army will retaliate by killing innocent people and burning down villages and towns but does not deploy the same strategy for other parts of the country.
Why does the southeast the most policed and most militarized region in Nigeria?
Why does southeast states receive the least allocation from the Federation monthly allocation

Make I stop here first.

The 1st in Igboland and probably the 1st Igbo Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in defunct Eastern Nigeria wink

As at 1919 when he was born and was just suckling his mother's bosoms,
some Yoruba families here in Lagos and Abeokuta, have already produced qualified Obstetrician and Gynaecologists trained in top British schools. The Amalgamation of Southern and Northern Protectorate that eventually formed what later became Nigeria had not even been done when the Yoruba have produced world-class Obstetrician and Gynaecologists! The old money don't shout wink

Below is a picture of Massey founded in 1912 here in Lagos even before he was born and any Igbo stepped foot in Lagos and become exposed to the western sophisticated civilization and education already existing in Lagos and Abeokuta. This Massey Hospital predates Lord Lugard's amalgamation in 1914 and Nigeria's independence in 1960 as a country and all the professional Healthcare team were Yoruba. Descendants of these Yoruba Healthcare professionals running Massey with the British are still alive till date. They will just be laughing or shaking their heads at the ignorance of false claim that he is the first. It's a fraudulent claim, he's not the first.

And you said you are a former police man moreover does kanu look like someone that is remorseful or want a political solution ? Since he was incarcerated , did you any pin drop from South East? As for people that are sitting at home in Aba and Nnewi, you all should make it everyday of the week while the people in Awka and Enugu are proudly going about their normal business on Monday.
You are very ignorant of Nnamdi Kanu,IPOB movement and the Biafran agitation.

For years, IPOB’s activities in the Southeast were peaceful. People marched, held rallies and demanded fairness in a country where many Igbos felt politically sidelined and constantly treated as second-class citizens. The movement’s message was loud but non-violent. Give us justice, give us equity, give us dignity or give us Biafra was IPOBs message everywhere.

But instead of dialogue, the federal government answered with military force, intimidation, arrests, and killing of many Igbo youths. Young people who came out with flags and placards were killed like criminals. Communities were surrounded by soldiers as though they were war zones. Naturally, this hardened feelings in the region and resentment for the government grew. People who didn't align with IPOBs ideology later sided with the movement.

The situation exploded with Operation Python Dance II in 2017. Soldiers invaded Nnamdi Kanu’s home in Abia State while he was on bail in an operation that many see as an assassination attempt by the Nigerian Army. His father died as a result of that operation and more than twenty five Igbo youths lost their lives during the raid. There are recorded cases of teenage girls captured by the military and turned into sex slaves after labeling them IPOB, fathers were rounded up in their places of work killed and labeled IPOB. Amnesty international recorded many extra judicial killings by the military.

What followed was predictable. When a peaceful movement is met with state sanctioned killings of innocent people, frustration and anger take over. The government’s actions radicalized many who once believed in non-violence.
Many youths now vowed to retaliate by killing many security officers

Invading Kanu’s residence and causing the deaths of innocent youths, the Nigerian military turned a peaceful agitation into a volatile movement. Many youths still remain missing till date. You don't expect not to fight back when you are unjustly killed by a government that should protect you.

........the rest they say is history.

Attached picture are IPOB members during a rally.
No guns, no clubs, no weapons, no violence Just flags, placards and loud voices

NNAMDI KANU: THE IMPERATIVE OF A POLITICAL SOLUTION

I join well-meaning leaders, the people of the South East, and indeed well-meaning Nigerians to call for a political solution that will lead to the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, on terms that will bring about the cessation of violence, the return of normalcy, and full integration for all.

This is not just for the people of the South East; I believe that this is a sentiment shared by all well-meaning Nigerians who want a united, peaceful, and just nation for all.

All Nigerians must condemn violence, especially the type that has occurred in the South East in recent years, as well as the terrorist activities in the northern part. Our sympathy must be for all victims and the losses they have incurred and continue to suffer even to this day. As a former police officer and a senior lawyer (former Attorney General), I feel personally touched when security officers are attacked and killed. We condemn violence and lawlessness wherever they occur.

The Nigerian state and its institutions have reacted in the typical manner every state must respond to a challenge of this kind to its sovereignty. This is the historical reality from Mandela to Boro, and up till date, around the world. The above examples and several others globally also show that reactions by the state, by way of arrest, trial, sentencing, and even conviction and execution of agitators, do not end agitations.

The solution usually lies in the initiation of a political process, midwifed by broad-minded leaders who place the national good over personal, political, and regional biases.

Legal processes do not address separatist agitations that are political and economic in nature. Historically, arrests, trials, convictions, and sentencing—even executions—do not solve these kinds of agitations. After the legal processes, what must follow is a sincere and holistic political solution that will create public confidence and sustain patriotism by all. The challenge is to create a Nigeria that all can trust and believe in, one they can fight and die for if necessary. This is the lesson from the arrest, trial, and sentencing of Nelson Mandela, who was convicted and jailed for 27 years, and that of Isaac Adaka Boro, who led the first separatist agitation against Nigerian statehood. In all these cases, genuine progress only emerged when broad-minded leaders initiated a political process that placed national interest above personal or political grievances and biases.

A more recent example is the peace process initiated by the Yar’Adua/Jonathan administration, during which the government engaged leaders and agitators on resolving the Niger Delta crisis. This led to the establishment of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, which has brought relative peace and stability to the region to the benefit of the entire country.

This was what General Gowon did, even after Boro and his comrades had been sentenced to death. He accepted the peace process spearheaded by the leaders of the Ijaw and Niger Delta, led by Harold Dappa-Biriye, and granted Boro full pardon. Not only that—he made it possible for them to join the federal forces to strengthen the defence of the Niger Delta areas which they knew better than the federal troops. And Boro and his comrades died fighting for a Nigeria they initially fought against. I call that leadership, vision, and broad-mindedness. Instructively, General Gowon took these decisions at the age of 32 in the midst of an unprecedented national crisis.

It’s understandable that people are worried about leadership in such a critical period. At the same time, it’s important not to jump to conclusions based on a single photo — fatigue can happen to anyone, even in high-pressure roles.

The bigger question is whether there are systems and structures in place to manage national security effectively, not just the appearance of one individual. Leadership isn’t only about moments captured in pictures, but about consistent decision-making and follow-through.

So what is your point exactly huh
When a country is facing severe insecurity, economic instability and leadership gaps, people naturally look to the president’s capacity not only the structures around him. Systems and institutions matter, yes, but the quality of leadership at the top directly determines how those systems function. When the head is weak or inconsistent, the entire structure suffers and crumbles.

So my point is simple, the repeated signs that the president is not meeting the demands of the office, especially at a time when Nigeria cannot afford hesitant, tired or sluggish commander in chief. This clearly shows that he's inadequate

PoliticsRe: Five Strange Things Justice Omotosho Did At Nnamdi Kanu's Judgement by shortgun(m): 8:01am On Nov 24, 2025
DomPerignon:
You are a very terrible liar.

1. The judge wanted the world to see his final ruling and judgment . This is allowed. Banning live streaming when the case was going on could be subjected to different interpretations.

2. Kanu requested for more time to file his written address to the court which the judge rightly saw as another delay tactic to postpone judgement of the case. When Omotosho refused Kanu's plea for more time, kanu flared up and started insulting the judge who ordered him out of court. Note that Justice Omotosho also convicted kanu for contempt of court, which wasn't part of the charges.

3. These were all testimonies and evidence provided by the Prosecution witnesses in the form of DSS agents who took the stand and provided these testimony to the court.

4. Omotosho never threw out any evidence but rather halted the prosecution from tendering it because the defense claimed they were yet to receive and review the evidence . Justice Omotosho ordered the Prosecution to provide a copy of all evidence to the defense and slated another day by which the evidence were tables before the court. As per Gulak, the DSS relied on the confession of ESN members arrested for murdering Gulak and they confessed that they were following orders indirectly from Kanu through their commanders.

5. Kanu's broadcast led to deaths of security officers as he used his illegal station to issue orders to his ESN terrorists which they followed. Incitement is not the right word here. Radio Biafra became the Communication and command centre for Kanu to communicate and give orders directly to his foot soldiers.
Let it be known to the world that a Yoruba judge unjustly sentenced Nnamdi Kanu not based on evidence but bigotry and hatred using government power. We will never forget and we will surely return the favor.

1.
Broadcasting a final judgment is not the issue. The concern is that the judge banned live coverage throughout the proceedings, which limited transparency in a politically sensitive case. Saying it “could be subjected to different interpretations” doesn’t change the fact that the restriction reduced public visibility. Courts are supposed to lean toward openness in cases of major public interest to avoid these exact controversies.

2.
Requesting additional time to file a written address is not a delay tactic. It’s a normal part of legal practice, especially in complex cases involving multiple charges and large volumes of evidence. The judge alredy assuming bad faith is itself questionable...how did he know it was a delay tactics? Even if Kanu reacted poorly, that doesn’t retroactively make the request illegitimate...Omotosho denied Nnamdi Kanu his right.
t
The contempt ruling..something not part of the original charges only reinforces the argument that emotions ran high in the courtroom and Omotosho was not neutral!,
not necessarily that Kanu was being intentionally obstructive.

3.
Prosecution testimony from DSS agents is not the same as neutral, independently verified evidence. Security agencies are interested parties in this case and their statements must be corroborated. The fact that they “provided testimony” doesn’t automatically make those claims reliable or sufficient to establish guilt!. Many cases fall apart because prosecution testimony lacks supporting evidence.

4.
If evidence was halted because the defense had not received it, that means the prosecution failed in its obligation to disclose materials ahead of time. That’s a procedural fault on the prosecution, not the defense!
And regarding the Gulak case, “confessions” from detainees especially without independent verification are widely legally recognized as unreliable....a detained person will do anything to please the authorities for their.
Statements allegedly linking ESN members to Kanu remain allegations, not proof. A confession is not conclusive unless supported by other objective evidence, which was never produced!..this elementary in law....!

5.
The claim that Radio Biafra served as a “command centre” is an allegation that was never proven with direct evidence. Saying his broadcasts led to deaths assumes causation without demonstrating it. Incitement requires a clear, direct connection between a statement and a specific criminal action. The prosecution did not show recordings where Kanu explicitly ordered specific killings, nor did they present verifiable communications tying him to those acts. Without that, the argument remains speculative.
The constitutional requires direct, demonstrable linkage, not assumptions, not confessions from third parties and not interpretations of rhetoric. None of the points you listed successfully establish that link.

So we all know it was hatred that drove Yoruba people to convict Nnamdi Kanu and not law!
PoliticsRe: Was Nnamdi Kanu Sentence Fair? - Chatgpt Replies by shortgun(m): 7:30am On Nov 24, 2025
For the brainless ones on this thread.
ChatGPT’s point is that, under the constitution, inciting or harsh rhetoric doesn’t automatically amount to proof of involvement in a crime. The law requires a direct connection between the accused and the specific offense. No such link was established between Nnamdi Kanu and the killings in the southeast. We will never forget how a Yoruba president, Yoruba lawyers and Yoruba judge unjustly sentenced our brother to life in prison using government power

This is definitely an inside job. All six women are Igbo, no other tribe was traveling with them and they are based in Lagos state. A state that has never hide it's hatred for Igbos. This is nothing but a set up

Everything Peter Obi said is nothing but the truth. Nnamdi Kanu stated his agitation peacefully and even told his supporters never to engage in violence.
The movement was peaceful until the government sent soldiers to go and do python dance with the lives of south east youths.
The only thing Nnamdi Kanu's sentencing has achieved is to create more Nnamdi Kanus in the south east.
See the way the lawless government is quick
to obey the court on Nnamdi Kanu's conviction but the same lawless government disobeyed the court order that discharged and acquitted him

What exactly is tribalistic about the post? Isn't that an Igbo name? If it were a negative news, would you have made this observation?

He's first an Igbo man before a Nigerian, before an American.

He's an Igbo man, and nothing can change that.

Haba.
Don't mind the hypocrite. If the man was involved in crime, people like him and Abike Dabiri will be the first to tell the whole world that the man is Igbo by tribe

In Nigeria, quota system will not favor him.
A country where the likes of buhari can become a general in an army is not a country.
A lot of people have pointed this out as well, and it’s exactly why the country keeps stagnating. Just look at how the military has deteriorated because of nepotism. Those who truly deserve opportunities are sidelined or outrightly replaced.
If this man had been in the Nigerian Navy, it’s very likely he would never have reached this level at his age.
Why wouldn’t he be motivated to dedicate his life to a U.S. government that has shown him fairness?

honestly bro, I congratulate all Igbos , Nnamdi kanu is a very toxic human being and it doesn't fit to lead any reasonable organisation, his conduct inside the court premises speaks volume and had it been Biafra eventually gained independent, the situations there will be worst than that of North Korea...
Be there and be speaking grammar. Nnamdi Kanu’s radicalism is exactly the energy that can match the madness and double standards going on in this country.

At least some good news and something to be proud of as a Nigerian.
