Peter Obi's influence. This has never happened in the history of Nigeria since independence. Peter Obi is the only politician in Nigeria Who will never buy voters with corruption money and mortgage their future in order to recoup investments like Tinubu is currently doing. This alone sets him apart from the rest. |
Wickedfact:Exactly the disparity I talked about. It's illegal for individuals and small-scale enterprises to extract crude oil in the south but licenses are issued by government to mine gold in the North. |
The Northern region of Nigeria which is rich in gold deposits has legalised illegal gold mining for Northerners, after the establishment of the Presidential Artisanal Gold Mining Initiative (PAGMI). This program, which purportedly aims to harness the economic potential of artisanal and small-scale miners, has been criticized for effectively legalizing what was once considered illegal gold mining. Meanwhile, in the Southern region of Nigeria, individuals engaged in small-scale crude oil extraction or refining are met with severe punishment, creating a glaring disparity in how the country's resources are managed, one will expect Tinubu to have reversed this policy long ago. The Presidential Artisanal Gold Mining Initiative (PAGMI) was introduced by the Nigerian government as a strategic program designed to organize, formalize, and regulate the activities of artisanal and small-scale gold miners in the Northern region. Under this initiative, gold mined by these small-scale operators, individuals is aggregated and purchased directly by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) under the National Gold Purchase Programme. A serious observer will see that PAGMI is just nothing more than a scheme to legitimize illegal mining activities that have been rampant in the North for years. The program essentially provides a legal cover for what was once considered illicit activity, allowing miners to sell their gold to the government without fear of prosecution. The government is simply turning a blind eye to the illegality, inequality, environmental degradation, human rights abuses, and other social issues associated with unregulated mining just to enrich Northern artisans and individuals. The implementation of PAGMI has raised questions about equity and fairness in the management of Nigeria's natural resources. While Northern artisans are given a pathway to profit from their mining activities through government-backed initiatives, their Southern counterparts, particularly those involved in small-scale crude oil extraction, face a very different reality. In stark contrast to the situation in the North, the Southern region of Nigeria, which is rich in crude oil, natural gas sees a much harsher approach from the government. Here, individuals who engage in artisanal refining or small-scale crude oil extraction are often labeled as criminals and face severe penalties, including imprisonment or even death. The government’s stance on oil-related activities in the South has been one of zero tolerance, with no room for small-scale or local artisans to benefit from the oil and gas wealth beneath their feet. This disparity in treatment will continue to result to widespread outrage and resentment in the Southern region, where many feel that they are being unjustly targeted while their Northern counterparts are allowed to profit freely from similar activities. The absence of a program similar to PAGMI for crude oil extraction highlights the uneven playing field and raises questions about the government’s true intentions. PAGMI is presented as a visionary program to empower local miners and boost the economy, it has inadvertently exposed the government's selective enforcement of laws and policies. In the North, illegal gold mining is transformed into a state-sanctioned enterprise, while in the South, similar activities related to crude oil are met with brutal crackdowns. This disparity not only fuels regional tensions but also undermines the unity of the country. It sends a message that some regions are favored over others, leading to feelings of marginalization and injustice. As long as these inequalities persist, the dream of a unified, prosperous Nigeria remains elusive. The federal government must recognize the inherent injustice in its current policies and take steps to ensure that all Nigerians, regardless of region, have the opportunity to benefit from the country’s vast natural resources. For Nigeria to move forward as a truly united nation, it must address these disparities and create a level playing field for all its citizens. Only then can the country harness its full potential and build a future that is fair, just, and prosperous for everyone. .....Shortgun writes from Abuja. |
No useful detailed information in the article, just useless repetitions. Many things are dying in Nigeria including good journalism. This is the result of selling job slots to people with money |
Ever since this guy linked up with Tinubu, his career has taken a nosedive. Our Olympic team went to Paris with billions of Nigeria only to return without a single medal, something unprecedented in Nigeria. |
What happened in ogun state is exactly how Tinubu is currently being reckless with our nation's common wealth. The future of Nigeria is at stake! This is one of the reasons we advocate to have only rational people with common sense occupy political offices but they will call us names and claim to be sophisticated only to place inept individuals in positions of power. |
This has never happened before in the history of Nigeria. Peter Obi does not buy voters with corruption money, this alone sets him apart from them all |

Ikaeniyan0:You lack sense |
The worse thing that can even happen to a c country is having a bunch of unstable lunatics pilot it's affairs. There are thinking about anything other than bigotry, tribalism and how to loot the country. All the excuses for Tinubu's poor showing are becoming too embarrassing. Bola Ahmed Tinubu had no intention of implementing measures that could alleviate the hunger in the land. |
Musauzor:Exactly. It’s not surprising that Tinubu avoided every debates where he would have faced Peter Obi one on one, Tinubu and his handlers were fully aware that Obi’s command of facts, accurate statistical analysis, his articulate arguments, and his clear vision for the country would leave Tinubu in stitches and grasping for breath. 😄😅😂 |

How will you serve guests boiled corn on the most special day of your life. The couple must be Tinubu supporters |
Tribalists and divisive elements disliked Obasanjo because he was a leader who rose above ethnic biases and valued the significance of national unity, cohesion, and inclusiveness. |
Jonathan is better than 100 Tinubu's |
erad:Birds of a feather flocks together. The company you keep determines your personality. If Tinubu has integrity he won't be surrounded by men with questionable character |
Loans, loans and loans, this is the only achievement of this inept administration. ![]() No idea on how to make the economy productive with the vast amount of natural resources available in the country. |
Ai was created to comfort the lonely people of the world. There's nothing that beats the complexities of human interaction..Nothing! Go out there and make friends with real people |
Tinubu have finally destroyed the little respect Nigeria had with mismanagement. ![]() This level embarrassment is embarrassing |
Tinubu again? When will Tinubu as a "master strategist" deploy strategies to end hunger, suffering and economic stagnation currently ravaging the country and Nigerians? |
A disgrace to Nelson Mandela |
Tinubu keeps embarrassing Nigerians all over the world and bringing disrespect to the office of the president. Never again will a charlatan occupy the office of the president in this country. |
Haters everywhere |
If you still have faith in Tinubu to enhance the well-being of Nigerians, your intelligence level might be lower than that of a goat. |
If someone manages to explain Nigeria to you and you fully understand it, that means they didn't explain it to you correctly. Refineries will never work because Tinubu is corrupt |
That's what happens when you have dumbos heading the government of a country. They never see beyond religion, tribalism and bigotry. They will always prioritize religion over productive sectors of the economy, they can never see beyond their noses ![]() |
damoobaba:This is the problem with mentally static people, you think everyone who complain about bad governance and poor economic decisions by Tinubu is poor and wretched like your father. In your little brain everyone who is not begging for food on the street like the people in your family ought not to speak against the abysmal performance of Tinubu. |
Blame the economy, the number of metally stressed people frustrated by bad economic decisions has increased since Tinubu became president. |
Nigerians are fleeing the country in large numbers just to escape the harsh economic environment in Nigeria. Tinubu has succeeded in turning the country into the largest IDP camp in the world. Whenever you step out in any part of the country today you are always confronted by hordes of hungry people begging you for hand outs |
Every criminal is now tagged protest sponsor by the most inept administration since independence. When will Tinubu stop chasing shadows and realise that his wicked policies are killing Nigerians. |
