Are you comparing naija to Canada ?
Don’t mind him. Canada, that, tbd moment you land at the airport like this, you’re entitled to 5 million dollars, the money is credited to your account when they help you open account on the spot. Every immigrants is entitled to this. Free housing, free foods, your children attend free school. And there’s monthly payments from the government too. That 26million will soon be exhausted if he stay in Nigeria, he’s better off japa with that money honestly

True. This morning alone, over 79 million Nigerians have died of hunger. Hunger on the street. A whopping 70million more Nigerians are expected to die of hunger before next week Tuesday. Hunger in the land.

That is entirely wrong. My first case study is my mom who worked in Nigeria and her only sojourn outside Nigeria was being sponsored by her organisation for an external program, and a pilgrimage to Israel (self sponsored). The rest were to Francophone countries (in West Africa o) as she speaks French. I don't know how you define success, but by every material assessment, she is a successful woman.

Two, my first boss who had his academic degrees in Nigeria and only visits abroad for sponsored training and holidays. He too is successful.

Three, I have classmates/friends/acquaintances who work for good companies in Nigeria with just their BSc. One at NNPC, the other at an investment bank and another at a top bank. Another worked at the same top bank and now works in a public regulatory agency. None of them have been to the international wing of any airport in Nigeria. I write this to illustrate how Nigerian-bred they are. These people are successful. I have another classmate who started her baking business from scratch and built it to the point she employs people (permanent and contract-based). She also organises training sponsored by corporate organisations. I doubt she has a passport and I bet nothing concerns her with japa. She probably doesn't even know what the term means. There are others I attended a certification course with who work in top consulting firms in Nigeria. Again, they have never been abroad.

Additionally, I have another who loves her job and even when I mentioned working for multinational organisations (in the same industry) in either Dubai or the UK, she declined saying "G59, I love Nigeria and what I do". She even declined the marriage proposal of a Canadian-based Nigerian. Although, her reason was that he wanted four children, which she disagreed with.

Not everyone is fazed by living abroad. Humans are different and thus, have different aims in life.

So, how come you say you haven't met any successful Nigerian who didn't work or study abroad?

In the first place, I don't fancy the UK for any reason. I don't know why. But it is strange to find it odd that someone decided to invest in Nigeria and live where he made his money. Some people are like that. Everyone gets his choice to make. So you want an investor (100 million invested) to leave for the UK? If I may ask, to do what exactly there?
Yeah, I realized I goofed yesterday with this post and I really didn’t make any sense. I figured there are people who aren’t really keen on making the japa move. I know someone who used to be on this platform, his name is Jarus. He retired early to be an investor in real estate ..man is in his 40s and he’s successful by all standard. He only used to visit UK for vacation. People still win in this country, cuz if not, who are the people building and buying these mighty house (it’s not correct to say all
Of these investments are made by people abroad only).

I realized this. This guy I mentioned in this post has other investments in Nigeria that employ a lot of people and they get their mean of sustenance from him. It’d be selfish of me to enforce my own view of how life work , and then force it on everyone else. I was wrong. Thanks for the observation

@yinkhar was right, based on truth , but my answer is Yes & No, based on fact.

1. I always advise VISA applicant to be over-prepare , instead of under-prepare, especially on Proof of funds & Proof of Ties, which are two of the strongest VISA issuing factors.

2. On the day of your interview, if 50 VISA applicants have qualified, then, the consular officer will have to use tiny excuses to separate the best VISA applicants from the opportunists applicants.

3. For example, an MSc or PhD VISA applicant who, having secured full fundings (opportunity) to study in the USA , but claimed in his or her DS-160 to have worked or being working for the past 7 - years, is supposed to equip himself/herself with salary/savings account, no matter how small the amount.

4. Every F1- VISA applicant, who is absolutely relying on scholarship/fundings is an opportunist, this is why you see few of PhD VISA applicants with full fundings having VISA denial.

PS: Consular officer does not usually request financial evidence from F1 applicants, but it is a requirement, so go fully prepared.

PS: Student with full fundings or scholarship is naturally cleared of proof of funds, but if you are a matured (married, working, business owner etc ) applicant, go with salary or savings accounts, even if it is 1- Kobo.

* Only fresh Secondary school graduates, who are applying for Bsc are exempted from this discussion , b/cos they are categorised " as absolute dependents.

🙏
Meaning it’s better not to have fully funded i20. A fully funded PhD offer on an i20 will decrease visa issuance chances .

Why is that the only option in your head?...u will rather go abroad and become a 4th class citizen competing for stupid jobs rather than be an entrepreneur with 100million.....

Even he's lazy and dont want to do any business...There are banks offer 26 -30% per annum on fixed deposit with interest paid upfront...

Let's even take the lower band of 26%..... fixed deposit of 100million is 23.4 million per year less withholding tax of 2.6M ...
Guy unless u eat like a thief, can u finish 23.4 Million per annum... That's the salary of senior directors living large in Nigeria.

Guy everything is not travelling...
Hmm. You have a point actually. I wasn’t thinking in that direction initially. But reading ednut1 post and yours kinda make me view this with a different mirror.

As we all know that it’s not possible for any Nigerian to be successful in life And become rich without leaving Nigeria and without relocating to UK, Europe etc. I might be wrong but if you’ve seen anyone successful in naija without moving abroad first, pls quote me on this.

So, this afternoon I passed by a new restaurant and club house recently built by one of our guy who has been in Lagos for years (seems like he’s very well made in Lagos) so he came back and build this, I saw lot of young guys packing their cars and patronizing the club house and music flying around.

What’s painful is that words going around say this guy spent over 100Million naira to invest in this club house. This is well over the amount of money needed to japa to UK with his family. This guy just missed out on what a lot of Nigerians are dying for. Why investing that much when you can use this money to relocate? Is it that some people don’t have anyone advise them? He’s better off selling that place and pack the money and leave for good

1. If you are a Nigerian then, the best place for any individual to apply for USA visa is in his or her country of origin, as highly recommended by the US embassy.

2. Although, the US embassy are relaxing recently on the rule of Consular Shopping for F1- VISA applicants ( a situation where you apply for VISA in a 3rd country, hoping that it will favor you),
but a hard-line consular officer can still deny you base on the rule if the consular cannot find any other reason again.

3. If you can find a favourable dates in Abuja or Lagos, i will recommend that you come over to your fatherland , as Cotonou to Nigeria is only few hours drive. Consular officers , respects applicants with the spirit of nationalism, they believe that such applicants will usually come back to contribute positively towards their nation.

4. Mind you, either you apply in Cotonou, or you go and apply from Canada, the USA embassy will treat your VISA application same ways, as they are treating other Nigerians , based on the nationality on your Travel Passport. Ipso facto, F1 VISA applicant will usually receive a favourable date , based on your resumption date, especially if you are a first timer, or at worst you can use the emergency option which is usually granted.

PS: Always be proud of your nation. Nigeria is leading Egypt , as no1- highest economy in Africa, with approximately $477 billion GDP.

🙏

Hey 🤠

1. PhD overall enrollment determinant is about your skills. Most Research Universities only use the CGPA benchmark in order to cut out the population of applicants.

2. Focus on finding Universities whose (Professors) research interests align with yours.Your SOP is of utmost importance, b/cos that is the first quasi-credential the admission committee will open up.

3. I believe you can deduce a genuine direction from a competition-based answer which might lead you into confusion. Google the important aspect of PhD admission , just like i have guided you in the attached. With your current CGPA and your upcoming GRE test, you can apply into any University, but with wisdom in displaying your skills, especially, when you have seen a professor/supervisor who wants to work with you.

Best Wishes 🙏

The general public should now see that @Shueldo06 is the same as @Ayomide98 😀 The general public should ask them to post their MRV payment evidences to the public, they are travel agents or scammers who are trying to CREATE GROUP for scamming purposes.

2. Applicant applying for UK and Canada experiences the same thing , only time line is different because , Nigeria population is 3x more than those of the UK and Canada. Besides, USA embassy is not against Nigerian, they are against terrorists worldwide. Do you know how many terrorists attempts they prevented or discovered every day ?

3. USA embassy does not send you message. Sit down in your house . Must you go to UNITED STATES? What you want to go and do in the United States can be done in Australia , United Kingdom, Australia, and Germany, they are all advanced nations. You are the ones who want to escape Nigeria. Millions of Nigerians are not thinking towards that route. Will you commit suicide if your VISA is not granted ? USA is not looking for anybody.

For record purpose, US embassy in Nigeria only interview a little over 150,000 applicants in Nigeria for 2023..including the IV and the NIV category (these also include the employment based petitions) the highest ever they’ve seen l. The number of people applying for US visa per year don’t even reach 25million the world over. There are about 23 countries in the EU, they don’t even receive this much.

1. Do you expect the USA embassy to break their VISA policy b/cos of you ? Even, our ruling president cannot break the policy of USA VISA rules. USA embassy does not play with VISA policies, b/cos they don't want terrorists to enter their country.

2. You passed your boundary or did not read their terms and policy , because you are not supposed to email the embassy, you are ONLY suppose to call or chat. Only those with immigrant VISA issues are supposed to e-mail.

3. When you clicked on the pending appointments, the system is supposed to take you to the available calendar (dates), if it takes you back to the payment page, that means that your VISA interview appointment schedule has not been authorised.

4. You can raise another ticket or call the help-line for your query.

🙏
You can actually email the embassy (I’ve done this in the past and received response). Stop all these suckling up to the embassy l, they’re not God, it’s just an embassy, a means for people to visit the USA for business, schooling, vacation etc..it’s just our poverty situation in Nigeria that make us see them as God, they’re not …if you email them, you’re not doing a bad thing, it’s up to them to respond or not. An applicant applying for a US visit visa from Sweden won’t get the same treatment they’re subjecting us to here, and that’s cuz of how desperate and how the level of servitude and slavery mentality going on here.. I pray Nigeria get it right some days so our children can stay in this country without fear..I understand, we’re poor , we’re at their mercy. We want to escape this country so badly that we’re ready to sell our soul.. but the way you talk about this US embassy is ridiculous bro
