I saw the same when I confirmed my appointment. I thought it was that your passport has to be valid for at least six months before you travel.

What date is it showing now? Are there available dates in September or October?

I made the payment on Friday evening and I kept checking all through the weekend and was having the same pending appointment issue. But this morning when I logged in I was taken straight to pick my location and after that, I was taken to the calendar which is where I am now. Appointment dates are there but no time slots just showing 12 am .

Sorry for troubling you again, is there anywhere to add dependent when u have access to the booking system?

My mode of payment was by transferring using my Gtbank to a first bank account online, I was not asked to upload anything as I did not see any place to upload, after payment on Friday today I was just directed to pick my location and then I was moved to the calendar.

The earliest date I am seeing as of now is tomorrow 3rd September but there are no time slots at all its showing 12 am at the moment.

12AM keh lol. Maybe we need to keep checking. I’m still expecting them to validate my payment as I paid by transfer too. Can I message u?

Yes I got the receipt after paying which I downloaded online. I don’t think not signing before uploading is gonna be any big deal. If anything, u should sign it before yu go for ur appointment.

When I click on the “pending appointment “, it’s still not there.

Me I just paid online right now and it’s not directing me to upload any i20. In fact, I’m not seeing any means of booking appointments o. It still says “pending appointment request”

1. According to the new directives, some USA embassies or consulates may request the visa applicants to schedule individual appointments.

2. in this case, the option to add the family members will not appear during the process, and you will need to schedule each person separately.

1. Go and start from the filling of your DS-160 and after submission, you will select “Email Confirmation” on your Confirmation Page, and you will be directed to a “Thank You” page. On the “Thank You” page, you will see an option to create a family or group application. When you select this option, certain information from your application (the ongoing submitted DS-160) , such as destination etc, will automatically be imported to and displayed on a new application, thereby, connecting your family info with your DS-160.
Pls note that you must still create a separate individual DS-160 for each applicant.

2. After the above, you will have to go and sign up on the new " usvisaappt.com, and once the account was created, Go to ''My Dashboard'', and click on ''Create New'' button in order to start the scheduling process. Choose your application country, the service type, the VISA category and the VISA class.

3. Before paying the VISA fee, you will have the option to add the family members applying together with you, and to provide the personal details for each applicant. The visa fees will be calculated based on the information you provide, and you will be able to schedule appointments for each family member.

Hi everyone. If you’re trying to book a visa appointment slot for you and ur wife (F1 and F2) after filling both parties DS-160, do you book the slot separately and pay separately? Or there’s a place when you’re booking your own where you’ll be able to add her as dependent? If you need to book separately, how then does the embassy make sure you attend visa interview together if u plan to do so?

Pls i wanted to ask how I’ll get my MRV fee receipt. I paid with a dollar card and the payment was successful. The pre approval request for scheduling appointment is still being processed though. Will i get the receipt after it’s confirmed or what? I have checked my mail nothing was sent to my mail. Thank you very much.

1. They did not ask you to login, they ask you to wait for the instructional email so, keep waiting till they get back to you.

2. This new website (AVITS Amentum) gives the USA embassy more ease of work , and it has come to enforce " wait for your turn " on VISA applicants.

3. The only set of applicants who can go and sign up on the website are the new applicants who are very ready to go and do something there , especially MRV payments. Old applicants with future appointments must wait for the email from the USA embassy before they can proceed.

PS: Check junks & spam mails 2 - times daily.

1. I will recommend that you stop the VISA applications.

2. No PhD student can survive the studentship without at least 65-75% of fundings , except if such student is a confirmed multi-millionaire with constant sources of income or comes from a wealthy family.

3. USA Consular officers will very likely (85% of the time) not grant an F1 VISA to a PhD applicant with no glaring evidences of available fundings from the Host-University. The fundings the University promised you, no matter how honest or certain it is , will not be taken serious by the consular, because it will be considered that your host University does not have a readily available fundings for you.

4. To support the sense 3 above, your professor or department themselves are expecting fundings (in the form of grants etc) , that is why they are promising you, but the organisation awarding the grants might delay, postpone or cancel the grant, and here is the grant your professor or department are banking upon in funding you,
so, how will you survive if the grants they are expecting does not materialize?

5. Aside of the above analysis, even if you have the whole resources to fund yourself, it is still undermining (academically) for a PhD student to not have fundings , except if you have displayed a reacreational reasons for your PhD application.

PS: While waiting for the promised fundings , keep sending more applications to other schools. Your VISA chances is 30/100, but it is not an impossible feat.

1. USA higher institutions must be in Top-5 of the most generous towards international students, especially in juxtaposition with UK, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. 85% of USA institutions also does not require tuition deposits (some require spot deposit to cover courier fees) unlike the aforementioned.

2. If you have many funders , ask them to merge the resources and deposit it into your savings account. It's a risk combining funders (sponsors) because it shows that you are struggling for finances. USA consulars, when exhausted usually wants straight answers , and do not have time for brain teaser.

3. If both of you are qualified in satisfying the F1 requirements, yes why not ? Your VISAS will be granted. The major aspects to deal with is fundings, proving ties to Nigeria , future plans, and genuineness of purpose.

1. No, i am not registering for now (though every one must still regain profile). I am just doing a voluntary exercise.

2. You will have to provide a financial/bank statement or other evidence of proof of funds in equivalent of your deficit to your host-institution before they can issue your Form I-20s (that is the agreement they signed with SEVIS - ascertaining that all admitted int-students displays sufficient funding sources).
