Zahra29: You make some good points, however I'm curious what you mean by hustle to the top in the UK. Yes the UK has great jobs and opportunities, however it is a highly regimented society. You cannot hustle in the UK like you would in Naij because every *legal* income - employed or self employed - is subject to for tax (even if you are a landlord for example, your rental income is subject to tax) . The more you earn or make, the more you are taxed because you automatically get moved into a higher tax band. You have to make sure you closely follow the rules and regulations in your field. Even more so if you are an immigrant. On an immigrant work visa you are restricted in the area of second jobs, so you cant just work all the hours you may want to. I'm just setting out realistic expectations. There is a price to pay for a society that "works" and this price makes it much harder to "blow" in the same way as one would in a society like Nigeria. What i mean is it’s possible to work your way up to even Being a renowned political figure. Tax or no tax. Just be EXCEPTIONALLY good at what you do. With discipline and a little luck you will succeed to the top. |

UyaiIncomparabl: Prayer or treatments? It should be a rule for intending couples to take mandatory fertility tests before walking down the aisle to avoid unpalatable stories because I know for a fact that many men are the carriers of infertile sperms or no sperm at all but turn around to blame the women in their lives. How will the man be able to produce his semen for semen analysis considering the fact that he is a Christian.? Are u suggesting that he w..anks off? |

BreconHills: I am not disagreeing with you that Nigerians can do great things, what I am saying is that we are not seeing Nigerians positively impacting state policy in favour of Nigeria. I can't think of one single example. This summer it was the subject of discussion I had with over 300 highly placed Nigerians in England and Scotland and they agreed that they had not hacked government policy in the same way that the Indians have done. We agreed to hold another diaspora summit next year. These are neuro surgeons, architects, accountants with the big 5 firms, investment bankers at Morgan Stanley and the like.
If you think of where the Indians were with their small corner shops and where they are now - they've gone a long way snd we need to be humble to hack that.
Most of the time these NGO and international bodies e.g Commonwealth associations are taken over by our elite who simply use it for personal access and not for the good of Nigeria.
The British Asian Trust started years ago with the then Prince Charles as patron - today its delivered including 3000 special visas for Indian entrepreneurs outside of the Highly skilled professional visa everybody in the world is competing for. You are not entirely wrong. But then the recent trends I have been observing is making me very resolute on the idea that the crop of Nigerians migrating overseas at the moment are not the usual spectrum that go there. This present stock are very determined to do something different and maybe mostly because most of these folks grew up with the internet are have more information about career, government policies than the 80’s “japararians”(You can engage some of them in a discuss and you will surprised). But one thing is sure give it like a decade and we would see Africans taking over like our Asian brothers in every sector. We already doing it with entertainment. These set of African immigrants didn’t go there to “sleep on a bicycle “. PS: if there is a video link or audio file to any of these discussion you had in the past be kind enough to share let me learn a few things myself. |

BreconHills: I think we are saying two different things. I am not talking about reaching the height of your profession by say becoming a KC, professor or acknowledged expert. I am talking about the ability to engage with policy makers; MP and cabinet members and influenve policy in the interests of your race/group without surrendering your identity.
Most of the blacks that get there like Kwarteng (sic) Bim Afolabi, Kemi Badenoch had to dilute their blackness to get access. Nearly 90% are married to white Upper class women or men. Without doing this - access denied.
In contrast Indians still wear their Indian identity on their sleeves, still marry Indians and still influence policy in favour of indians.
That's the bridge Africans still need to cross. While I can’t present any statistics to buttress my point (which I strongly believe is achievable), It doesn’t take out the fact Africans can be whatever they want to be in the western World. It is fallacious to name a few successful people of African descent who have married a certain subset of society to mean their success was hinged on marital ties. Can’t we just agree they are Africans who got to the top as Africans?.. Many more Nigerians in the nearest future will turn out to be voices that influence the political structure in their respective communities (Be it UK or Canada). It might not look so now but in 10 years from now with the level of brain drain. You will see Nigerians doing great things as it relates to politics, economics, science, technology, entertainment etc....My humble submission bro.. |

BreconHills: Why 700k. Why make that a limit
I attended secondary and university there and worked in the City- top 5 law firm. But if I am not going to make partner or managing partner, I will leave. Its not just about money and living in a new dev with a BMW. It's about being influential at the highest level.
Apart from one or two rare blacks - the glass ceiling is still there. But if the dream is for life in a new development and a flash car. Why not? It wasn't enough for me and today with every humility it's worked out. I just used that to buttress a point I think most Nigerians will be able to relate to. However, it’s possible to attain the highest ladder of society if you KNOW YOUR ONION |

BreconHills: There is still a significant economic ceiling in the UK that blacks ( Indians have hacked it) struggle to break through. Sure you can leverage your earnings and get a mortgage, car etc but your disposable ( non card) i income will be weak. Finally after most have the two cars parked in a nice new development, they hit the ceiling and make peace with it. Some of their colleagues ( and by the way I am talking about two sets of successful professionals) not only do well in Nigeria but get invites into a strata of UK society that immigrants can only look at.
I won't talk about the ageing period ( 70 plus) and absence the of social support or the cleavage with their completely acculturized children.
PS: I am not talking of struggling people in Nigeria o. By all means they can japa and do any work and still have better life. Your success anywhere in the world is dependent on your grit and growth mindset mentality. I put it to you that earning 700k in the Nigerian space (with insecurity, poor health care and shi..tty infrastructure) and going all out to hustle to the top in the UK . The UK would still be a better choice except you don’t know your onion |

They do and most even leave with 20M and leave jobs that pay 500k plus for the UK . If they are focused they will be better off in 5 years there than they will be in Nigeria. If you have ever invested in a personal biz in naija you will know what it means to play Russian roulette with your hard earned savings |

1Sharon: It's almost like the UK born black ppl are disappearing or being bred out and being replace by immigrants. Immigration is the highest its ever been in the UK.
Import the 3rd world become the 3rd word.
Only the rich and middle class Nigerians can enjoy Nigeria.
The poor desperate Nigerians are the ones saying japa
Why would a rich person leave Nigeria when he can afford to live with dignity.
If you are rich in Nigeria, why would you go and hustle to live in the West? You have to be fairly ok to japa. You think coughing out 7-10M na beans ? |

Geminita1: Men that do that are just dumb. I mean even if you were the most handsome I've ever seen, walking up to random women on the road for relationship is just a huge turn off. And shows how very dumb you are.
That's why I like white men. Those guys are so cultured. You will never see them running after a woman like a motto park tout "because they are too beautiful to resist" or "because they may never see her again"
Its a barbaric way of approaching women. There is something known as Circles. Join a circle of like minded people, those are places you meet people you can go into a relationship with. Anything by the road side is just for fling.
You approach me by the road and get my number through another means(cos I won't share my number with a dumbass), I'll block your ass straight up. You try to "apply pressure" I'm getting a police report. I dislike dull men.
Like, I don't even like guys staring at me on the road. Its irritating, nor to talk of walking up to me, yuck. You think you are the main character |

Kobojunkiee: 1. The breath of God, God's own spirit, gives life to man's soul, and when God takes that breath out of man, man dies. 2. Man's soul is an aspect of man ... a part of that which is man. 3. Man is instead of Mind, body, and soul...
Of His breath of Life, God in Genesis 6, said the following... ... clearly indicating that breath is His and returns to Him after man's tenure on earth is over, so it is erroneous to conclude that the breath of Life is a part of that which makes a man. The Spirit of God is the Holy Ghost otherwise referred to as the spirit of the living God. Acts 1:8 ( This settles what the spirit of God is - also read Gen 1 He was the first personality of the Godhead mentioned ) Now if u argue for the fact that the spirit of God was the breath of God in man - you would also mean that any man born has the Holy Spirit in him which would totally fault the promise of a comforter as promised us by Christ The breath of God made man a living soul... Mans seat of consciousness came alive (Soul) Every soul comes with a spirit ... They are not non exclusive ... It is the spirit that interfaces the unseen realm while the Soul acts as an interface or ligament that connects the body of a man and his spirit... Whatever you feed the soul affects the body and the spirit.. That is why there is a strong contention for the soul of a man. |
