I would have loved to renew it here, but i was told i can't start until September (i.e 6 months to expiry) and they will collect the old passport which has my travel visa on it which i am going to use in September. That has been the dilema.

No one has the right to collect your old expired Passport when you go for renewal.
They only need to sight it when you go for capturing.

When I did mine, they asked for it, showed them,got captured and left with my old Passport.
I have the old and new one with me.

If you really know your way, you can capture in September and get your new Passport before travelling(Rub palm).

Nigerian Embassies abroad will make life frustrating for you when you want to renew.

Speaking of passport, does anyone know what the heck is going on. I recently checked the Nigerian embassy website to check the renewal process as my passport in expiring later this year. What started as an exploratory exercise quickly turned into a depressing adventure as there are people who went for biometric capture in February/March still waiting for their passport and the constant retort from the embassy official that there are no booklets. It's a woeful tale of lamentations and it's scary.

Also, the ambassador promised back in February that the 10-year validity passport will rolled out soon and there is no word on that yet. No surprise there knowing how Nigeria rolls.

Finally, does anyone know the stipulations about flying into Nigeria with an expired Nigerian passport but with a valid Canadian one?

I flew to Nigeria with an expired passport few months ago.I am also in North America.

Just make sure you book Ethiopian Airline.They were the only one who accepted to fly me.
Mind you,if you are still a PR/ Green Card holder,make sure you have already plan on how to renew your Passport before you travel back.You can’t fly back with an expired Passport.If you have a dual Citizen,you are good.

In addition,even though the Minister of Interior said you can travel to Nigeria with an expired Passport.When you get to arrivals,those crooks known as Immigration officer will still want to obtain you,just change your accent and let them know you have permission from Abuja to fly down.Don’t give them any shishi.

Congratulations to Senator Ibrahim Shettima. Looking at the level of loyalty and commitment he showed to Tinubu during the primary election, I’m not surprised at his nomination. He’s an excellent administrator and a loyal party man. He will make a good Vice President. With this, Tinubu’s presidency is a done deal.


With his nomination, APC should win Borno, Yobe and Gombe clearly. The party should also come second in Adamawa and with LP gaining momentum in Plateau and Taraba (two traditional PDP states, APC should win North East slightly over Atiku.
