Before his 31st attemp he threw the manuscript out. His wife rescued it from the round file and asked to try one more time. The rest ..... Is history.

4| Vicent Van Gogh: Van Gogh paintings these days sell for incredible amounts of money. Four of his paintings have sold for more than 100 million dollars.
Yet Van Gogh is a cautionary tale. In his life he was a failure.
He slowly began to build a reputation while he was alive, but he also had a ton of critics. He burned and destroyed many of his paintings out of frustration and was known to only sell ONE PAINTING.
He did not work to overcome his failure and killed himself.Soon after his death his work began to garner intense critical and financial success.

3| Micheal Jordan: it is hard to imagine it, but the jordan, he is arguably the greatest basketball player ever,was once cut from his high school team.
As jordan puts it, "I have missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I have lost almost 300 games on 26 occassions. I have been entrusted to take the game winning shot, and I missed.
I have failed over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.

2| Elvis Presley: You do not need to be a Elvis fan to acknowledge the impact he has had on popular music. They don't dub somebody the "king" of a form of music without a great amount of success.
But even for Elvis success came after failure. This first recordings went nowhere. After that he tried to join a vocal quartet and was told he, "Couldn't Sing". Finally,right before he became popular,he was told,"You ain't going nowhere, son. You ought to go back to driving a truck".

1| Thomas Edison:
Chances are you have heard of Edison in relation to overcoming failure before. He was a master of "trail and error"
When asked about the many thousands of failures he had when trying to create the light-bulb he famously said,"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. But there is even more to it than that. As a child he was thought to be dumb and told that he would never be a success by many of his teachers,because his mind would often wander in class.

Failure
That is a word that most people dread.

Everyone wants to be a success. We want to be liked and admired.

But that dreaded "F" word always pops up. Failure.

This experience is strong enough to make you want to quit and start a new life.

Success takes time and effort. Yes,many times you will fail before you are succesful.

Ask just about anybody who has become succesful if they have ever failed at any aspect of their journey.Chances are you will get quite a few stories of missteps and blunders.

The difference between long-term success and failure is the reaction to it.

People who,as charlie sheen says are "Winners overcome the obstacles".

Yes,failure happens,live with it, learn from it.

There is a need to change the view on failure it is not something that needs to be avoided. It is a chance to learn something that does not work!
It is not always reaching the destination that defines the man(or woman),but the journey that is taken to get there. The biggest successes have gone through the biggest failures.

If you are struggling in your business or even if you're looking for small business opportunities do not be afraid to try things that are "new" "different" and perhaps even fly in the face of conventional wisdom. The worst thing that can happen is failure which is just a chance to learn and grow.

To illustrate the point, here is a list of 11 people who were all hugely succesfull in their fields. All of them failed. Not only did these people fail,but they failed on a massive scale. Yet history still views these successful people who failed as great success stories because they bounced back and succeded in the end.

u guys spend about 7 yrs or more and you expect them to write + NYSC.. Wen other mates are through with their NYSC and are in their various place of work.

(Full disclosure....I am a doctor).

Because Medicine is the only course where you are guaranteed a job after you graduate....and even before you do your NYSC.

Plus, if you cannot get a job as a doctor...nothing stops you opening up your clinic in a one room apartment....and growing in to a hospital ten years later (as one of my former bosses did).

Other courses in Nigeria have poor job prospects. Like a friend of mine who read Fine Art....and is yet to get a job after over 5 years. Or another one who did business admin....and no job three years post graduate.

Until Nigeria becomes a industrial society.......

if i am getting you right u actually meant doctors are the only ones who make it in Nigeria.. If you reason that way also know that .. President Goodluck jonathan studied Zoology and Gen olusegun obasanjo studied civil enginnering with the aid of his younger sister.

lomaxx: Yeah. I'm familiar with that story. Parent feels because you're smart then you should naturally study medicine. That's a very flawed perspective. Very flawed. I'd say you should persist.

Whatever happens, don't do what you don't want. In the long run, you'd need more than intelligence to sustain you.

I have been a lover of the romance aspect in Nairaland and that was what actually made me more intrested in nairaland. Gone are those days when 5 or 6 romance write ups would make the front page but now it is gradually reducing to 1 or 0.. What are the likely reasons?

yea, i did.. He said all my elder ones studied another course, so i should be the one to study medicine and because i am brillant..that was the main reason.

jaryeh: Why do you wanna go for Civil Engineering? Articulate your points, discuss with them to convince them that you prefer Civil Engineering.

i have not only discussed with them. We even invited a family freind but my dad rejected the offer. He said I must do it.

I have always been against this attitude of parents forcing their children to do a course they don't like. Until it came to my turn, though when i was younger i prefered medicine but when i grew up i developed interest in civil engineering, not only because of the skills or intelligence on enginnering but the spiritual aspect of it. So i did chem,phy,maths,eng for engineering In jamb instead of bio,phy,eng,chem for medicine. Though they told me to do that of medicine but i didnt. I did the jamb and I came out with a good score. Now my parents are forcing me to do A levels or rewrite jamb. Pls wat can i do?

Wale Olagunju, founder of Divine Seed of God Chapel Ministry in ojoo, Ibadan, oyo state capital said God spoke to him in year 2000 that he should stop taking his bath, seperate himself from his wife and not take soft drinks or wine which he has maintained for over 13 years.
In an exclusive interview, he explains how he still looks good despite not having his bath for that long.

1)Some years back, you came out that God,instruct you to stop having your bath, is it true, and are you still on it?:
Ans: Yes, it is 13 years now. To be precise, early 2000, the Lord told me to stop taking my bath, seperate myself from my wife, and that I should stop taking soft drinks and wines, and since then, dilligently I have observed all these things.
Whoever God wants to use for certain purposes on earth, there is a serious price attached to that calling, So I believe that is the price I am paying. As I am talking to you now, I have not taken my bath. If you want me to show you evidence, I will show you. If you doubt all I am saying; I have not taken my bath since 2001 till this moment.
2)How do you remain hygenic and healthy. If you truly have not been taking you bath for 13 straight years?
Ans: That is the work of the holy spirit, I dont have face towel, I dont clean my body with anything.
3) So,what is your normal daily routine?
Ans: I wake up, and I just wear my clothes, water has not touched my body since 2001. I know it sounds mysterious, when you look at Isiah chapter 20 verse 1 to 5, the lord told Isiah to walk barefooted, without wearing clothes, but just naked for 3 and half years. If the Lord Almighty should say, Wale Olagunju, do likewise, I am sure people will say the man is mad.
