haroldwilly780: People need to remove the mentality of making it big once outside the country. You have to really choose what you want. Either school or sending money home. You can't combine them all and still expect to feed well and pay bills. Cyprus is not a bed of Rose at all. It is not simply or easy. Have it at the back of your mind also that there are person that have made it and survived even under the harsh conditions. 3 Likes |

There is no need repeating what have been said earlier. If you want to be comfortable in N.Cyprus, simply have a sponsor at home. There is no work lying around for you to take and make millions here. The major jobs for foreigners is menial jobs which are not even simply to come by. If you are really interested in making money then the island is not for you. Though there are hundreds of persons who are comfortable here without sponsors due to the services they render and not necessarily fraud. 2 Likes 1 Share |

estere1: Until recently, no one is going to give you white collar job in N. Cyprus. Good jobs for foreigners include receptionist, teachers/lecturers, computer or software analyst and developers. Recently too, Blacks ladies in particular are being employed by insurance companies as sales rep. Though those instances I mentioned are rare but it is there.. I think the county is now being more open to foreigners. In all, the major jobs done by foreigners was and is still menial jobs like cleaning and construction work. |

Sorry for the absence. Many things have happened since I was here last. Let me address what Mr. Iykebethany pointed out. First Turkey and TRNC are best for tourism as there are many tourist attractions and monuments there. Tourism is one of their main sources of revenue especially for TRNC. That being said, education comes next. Though not cheap when compared to western or eastern Europe, education is affordable there as I highlighted. Some cheap schools exits that accept around 3000 dollars or less for full program, but there are other expensive one's like the popular ones. For accommodation, a room cost around 100 to 200 pounds a month but you can share if you want and there are cheaper ones if you know where or how to look. To the main point, many persons who travel out of Nigeria is for hustling purposes. You should know that there are no white-collar jobs there for Africans unless you are in the educational sector as a teacher or assistant lecturer. People survive there doing menial jobs like dish washing, chefs etc. Construction work is easy to get because there are many new buildings everyday. Apart from this, other hustle like bureau d change, buying and selling, agent/service work exist. As for payment, I'm still wondering the type of job that you will be paid 500 Turkish lira a month cos I haven't seen. Even people that are paid minimum of 50 Turkish lira per day do half day job. The highest pay comes from construction work. Daily pay ranges from 100 to 150 Turkish lira a day. While restaurant works pay between 50 to 100 Turkish lira a day. Lest I forget, there are industries there too that employ Africans but the pay is still within 100 Turkish lira or thereabout If you have a sponsor then you will enjoy there, but if you come for hustling purpose, then you must work too. In conclusion, anyone that tells you that jobs here pay around 2000 dollars, just send the person your account number to credit you with a little. There are very few highly competitive jobs here that pay in foreign currency and most of them are not for foreigners |

This island has different affiliation from any angle you look at it. As a Turkish, it is an independent country under their protection; from the Greek Cypriot angle, it is part of their land that is occupied by the Turkish military; while the rest of the world sees it as an island occupied illegally by Turkey. No matter the way you look at it, it is still a travel destination and a cheap place for studies too. School fees in TRNC cost around 3000 euros a year with the cost of living around 200 pounds a month. Oh, that’s right; the country accepts different currency for different purposes. For instance, school fees are paid in euros or dollars, house rent is paid in pounds, while you get paid in Turkish lira for working. Purchases are made in Turkish lira too. There are many universities in TRNC (CIU, EMU, GAU, etc) and to gain admission into any of them, you need to submit your application online or through many of their recruiters. The required documents are; statement of result, transcript, O level certificate, international passport data page and a passport photo. After evaluation which takes 3 to 12 days, a conditional admission letter is issued with the unconditional admission letter following after you pay the initial school fees deposit ranging from 1500 to 1000 euros depending on the school. After the admission, you have to log in to the website of the Turkish embassy to complete an online visa application form and choose a date for submission of documents. The following are required for such: • Conditional admission letter • Unconditional admission letter • Receipt of payment of the initial deposit • International passport • Two passport photograph • O level certificate • WEAC/NECO Scratch card • Statement of result • NYSC discharge certificate • Statement of account of a sponsor (should contain at least a million naira or above) and sponsorship letter • Flight reservation (Turkish airline preferably) N.B. All school certificates are to be authenticated by the ministry of education first. Statement of result and NYSC discharge certificate are for masters. The documents can either be submitted to Mzvize or at the embassy with 115 dollars for both travel insurance and application processing fee. Your visa should be ready after a week of submission, though it may take longer. www.mytravelng.com

HENRYFORDmmeje: Patience is the key. Just wait and zero your mind from the visa for now though impossible . I know someone that got he's after 3 months (December to First week of March). Look for something to distract you. And even the school won't start lectures for now, it's all about orientation and registrations. |

Numero123: The same amount for your sponsor, around 1m. Actually, you need to be fully prepared coming to Cyprus. You can get jobs but you need to be a hustler. Jobs like construction work, waiter, car washer, and other menial ones abound. You can pay your bills from them if you get one |

elijah101: If you are in Ankara Turkey, just walk into the Nigerian embassy there. They will recapture your image and fingerprint. Then you pay them 106 dollars. For TRNC, the embassy staff go there once in 4 months. Meet them, you will be recaptured, then pay 106 dollars as well. Your new passport will be returned when next they come. I hope it helps? |

Fakeme: The cost of living in Cyprus is OK but not cheap oo. You can get a room of 100 pounds that you can share with someone. It is possible to combine both if you are doing your masters or PHD program, but there is no place where job is lying around and waiting for you. Also, during the breaks like the 3 months long summer holiday, you can look for a side hustle |
