A Zonal Head, of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Apapa, was beaten to death by suspected okada riders and touts on Thursday, 15th December. The officer Mr Bakare was lyched to death along Point Road, Apapa while performing his duties.

Bashir Braimah, General Manager, LASTMA confirmed the incident, saying that he was on duty controlling and regulating traffic in Apapa when he was killed.

The Lagos state government promised a full blown investigation and assures that the that people responsible for his death will be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.

The National Judicial Council on Friday announced the recommendation of two High court judges for dismissal and compulsory retirement due to various acts of Misconduct. The judges are of Justice Ugbo Ononogbo, of the Abia state High court and Justice Nasir Gunmi, of Zamfar state high court.

NJC also issued a warned Justice D. O. Oluwayemi of the Lagos State Judiciary for granting an ex-parte order in Suit No: LD/2393LMW/16 “relying on an affidavit of urgency which disclosed no threat of destruction of rights, or interest, in the subject matter of the dispute without putting the other party on notice.” and Justice M. A. Savage of High Court of Lagos State, “for holding discussion with complainant’s counsel in Suit No: LD/179/2000, which he had judicially acted upon, and for serving as a bridge between him and the other party’s counsel.”

Acting Director of Information, Mr. Soji Oye who read out the statement on behalf of the Acting CJN said that NJC reached into cognisance to take the actions at its 80th meeting held between December 14 and 15.

In the case of Justice Gunmi, the NJC recommended the judge to Zamfara State Governor, Abdul Aziz Yari Abubakar, for compulsory retirement for failing to deliver Chiroma Vs Forte Oil Plc, almost 23 months after the final addresses by counsel.

Apart from recommending the dismissal of Justice Ononogbo to the Governor of Abia State, “the Council also recommended that the Hon. Judge, the Assistant Chief Registrar, Probate Division of Abia State High Court, Udeka N. C., and E. M. Ojiako, Esq., be handed over to the police for investigation.”

“Council also decided to report E. M. Ojiako, Esq, to the Nigeria Bar Association’s Disciplinary Committee for investigation and that Abia State Judicial Service Commission should take appropriate action against Udeka N. C., the Assistant Chief Registrar, Probate Division after investigation of the allegations,” the statement read in part.

The allegations against Justices Ononogbo and Gunmi constituted misconduct contrary to Sections 294 (1) and (6) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended and Rules 3 (i), 11(ii) and 2 of the National Judicial Council Revised Code of Conduct for Judicial Officers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

It was reported on 1st December that Soso Soberekon Kcee's manager beat up Desmond Harrysong's manager accusing him of advising Harrysong to dump Five star Music owned by Kcee's younger brother E-Money. Soso travelled immediately after he and his boys beat up Harrysong’s manager, and promised to report himself to the police.

A middle aged woman on Tuesday delivered two conjoined babies with their heads attached to their shoulders at a Med-in specialist hospital in Ogudu on the outskirts of Lagos. The baby has two heads with oxygen tube strapped on each, a neck, chest, two legs and two hands.

According to he doctors the baby was born around 6:30pm on Tuesday through an elective caesarean section. Its mother, surgeon and nurses entered the theatre prepared to take delivery of a set of twins as indicated by the various scans she underwent in the course of the pregnancy, but were surprised when they delivered a baby with two heads.

The baby was resuscitated and was immediately transferred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) for advance care.

A nurse said, “This is the first time I am seeing anything like this. I have watched it in movies but seeing it in real life was such an experience for me. Thankfully, the surgeon ensured that they survived.

“As I speak to you, the mother doesn’t know the condition of the babies. She still believes and expects to carry her twins. We haven’t told her yet. Only her husband was brought into the theatre to see his children and he was the one who went with the doctors to LUTH,” said the nurse.

The development is medically known as Parapagus. a rare form of partial twinning where there are two heads and two necks side by side on one torso, mostly seen India and cannot be separated since they have only one pair of arms and one pair of legs and one heart.

She also said I should hold part of the money I was with so even if my bag was snatched I have something to fall back to.. That was how I foolishly brought out the money from my bag.. She picked up a nylon.. Trying to help me tie my money.. In the course of doing that.. She swapped the money.. She tied paper with nylon.. Gave me the nylon that had paper and took my money.. Nnamdi Kanu, who appeared in an Abuja federal high court yesterday to stand trial over allegation by the Federal government for Treason threatened that to destroy Nigeria with his Testimonies.


Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja granted the Federal Government the right to hide the identities of witnesses billed to testify against the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu.

Nnamdi Kanu immediately rejected the court ruling, saying that it was against the tenets of justice and fair-hearing.

He said “I won’t stand this travesty of justice. Buhari spoke in public, he accused me in public. I must also be allowed to stand my trial in public,”

The angered Leader of the IPOB said “This is nonsense. I will give testimony before this court. By the time I finish, there will be no Nigeria. This is no Sharia court. It is a court that operates under the common law.

“There will be no screening of witnesses, no fake identities or fake addresses. I cannot be tried in secret. No. Nnamdi Kanu cannot be jailed in secret. They are mad. Why must I be tried in secrecy by a government that does not obey court orders.

He continued “They are killing my people in public. After killing my people, they want to try me in private? That person is mad. I won’t allow it,“

The court fixed January 10, 11 and 12 January to commence the trial of treasonable felony and other 10 count charges levelled against him and three others.

Chief of Air Staff, Sadique Abubakar, has disclosed in a press briefing with editors of online media,that following the refusal of the US government and some other western states to sell weapons to intensify Nigeria in the fight against Boko Haram, the federal government has secured the support of Russia, China and Pakistan.

The Nigerian Air Force is expecting arrival of war-planes and helicopters from Pakistan and Russia to boost its fleets.

“I want to say that we have been enjoying support from other countries. (Sometimes arms procurement) is shrouded in a lot of politics.

‘’Unfortunately, I’m not a politician, so I cannot be able to say much on that. But what I can tell you is that right now, as I speak to you, we are expecting the Pakistani Chief of Air Staff in Nigeria soon. Pakistan has accepted to sell ten trainer airplanes.

The chief of staff also disclosed that, the force has trained some officers abroad and have other pilots that have just finished training in the United Kingdom.


‘’We have additional pilots that are training in South Africa. We have more pilots that are training in the Egyptian Air Force and so many other places, including Russia. We are really getting support.” On the competence of Nigerian fighter pilots,

He also said : “In the last 18 months, we have flown almost 3000 hours with no incident. In terms of competence I can tell you that the Nigerian Air Force pilots are among the most competent because the training curriculum is very clear.

‘’That is why now in the Air Force you look at the wings, pilots wear wings. We have categorized the wings according to their skill levels. We also organize simulation training for our pilots, we organize evaluation visits where pilots are evaluated without any notice.

‘’We have also sent over 700 personnel of the NAF to different parts of the world to train and acquire the skills required for them to be effective.’’

“Another sub-strategy under this is the reactivation of airplanes. We have embarked on the reactivation of airplanes and today as I speak to you we are on the thirteenth aircraft. What I mean by reactivation is that aircraft that were not in involved in any fight before the coming of the present federal government; they were parked before but are today part of the fight.

The thirteenth aircraft as I speak to you is being worked upon in Yola and we are hoping that before the end of this month that airplane will be flying. When you train, you must reactivate the platform to be used in flying,’’ he said.
