As around 11 February, my blood sugar was 97 mg/dL [or 5.4 mmol/L]. It was within the normal range. Blood sugar normal range is 70 to 99 mg/dL [or 3.9 to 5.5 mmol/L]. Nevertheless, values between 50 and 70 mg/dL may be seen in healthy people.

I decided to try out the herbs route to see its effects on my blood sugar levels.

On each administration, I had about 4 leaves of bitter leaf and 8 - 10 leaves of scent leaf blended in about 15cl of water. I drank the mixture twice a day (morning and evening) for 7 days. My blood sugar fell from 97 to 87 mg/dL.

I continued for another 7 days, this time, with about 3 - 4 leaves of utazi (Gongronema latifolium, arokeke) and about 7 leaves of uziza (Piper guineense, iyere, uda). It fell further to 74 mg/dL [or 4.1 mmol/L].

I think the fall is usually achieved after, or towards, 9 administrations (that is, from the 5th day), and then stabilised. All of my tests were taken upon waking up in the morning.

I also incorporated exercise and low-to-moderate eating.
