Here I was, subtly thinking that Silver would not kill anyone and yet, the doctor is almost dead and Anita is going gaga.

That nurse would want to preserve herself and her reputation (or what's left of it), by allowing an innocent lady suffer. Corrosive Ha!!

Shocked by the screens and people running out from the board room, Susan stood up and walked towards the door and that was when she saw Anita destroying things....
Her heart race with tremendous speed and quickly she ran in..

"Anita.."She shouted trying to hold her but when Anita turned to face her.., there's a cold that burned in her eyes, and it scared Susan, in that moment she knew that wasn't her friend but a different person....

Anita snarled and almost launched at her but security ran in and hold her, she struggled trying to tear everything her hand came in touch with..

"Get her out of here.."Mr Smith shouted...

Anita screamed out loud, The impact confused her brain as it rapidly flew to the right, a red welt already rising on her skin. Susan stumbled backward in shock, falling into the vase by the front door, tears already welling in her eyes...., she couldn't move, couldn't do anything, she just stood close to the door in shock as the security men drag Anita out..

When her brain realise she wasn't getting anywhere, Anita bit one of the security's hand and when he let go, she pushed the other security man and started running aimlessly..., they race after her and dodge things she was throwing at them...

Getting herself back.., Susan ran after her all the while trying to assimilate exactly what was going on...

"I'll kill all of you.."Anita screamed at the security guards

"Anita.."Susan said when she got to where they are...

"I'll kill you.."Anita threatened taking one leg of her shoe in her hand.....

"Anny please..."Susan said, tears rolling down her cheeks.."Anny please calm down., how did this happen.."

"Leave me alone.. "Anita yelled, she look around and began to run again..

Once again the security ran after her but quickly stopped when Anita ran into the hands of other three men..

Anita struggle to be free from their grasp..., she spit, try to bite but their firm hrip6 on her was firm...

"Easy easy..."A lady said stepping in her front...

Anita snarled trying to attack her..

"Take that mad girl out of here..."Mr Smith shouted

Still shocked by what was happening, Susan went closer to Anita but quickly drew aback when she try to attack her..
"Anny, it's me Susan.., it's me your best friend.., what's going on with you..."

"Are you her friend...?"The lady ask

"I'm doctor Charana..."The lady said..

"Take that mad woman out of here.."Mr Smith shouted..

"We'll do just that.."Doctor Charana said walking past Susan to meet Mr Smith.."Doctor Charana from Donnys psychiatric hospital.."

"You're a psychiatrist...?"Mr Smith ask

"Yes sir.."She replied..."Someone called us here and I'm glad we came.., she's a nut case.."

"Please take her out of here.."

"Yes sir.."She said before she turned around to face Susan whose face was still smouldering in shock....

"We'll be taking your friend for a little treatment, you can come see her at Donnys psychiatric hospital..."

"My friend is not mad..."Susan riposte..

"Believe or not she is.."

"She was fine before we got here..

"Well something must have triggered in her brain for her to react like that and that's what we're going to find out..."

Susan sniffle, her wits telling not to allow anyone take Anita but when Anita screamed again, she turn back to face Doctor Charana.....

"We just want to help your friend.., she's too young to be crazy..."Charana said

"Okay.."Susan said wiping her tears..."But I'm not her parents, don't you need their consent before you take her.."

"Oh do not worry about that.."Charana said.."She'll be out before they even noticed she went gaga.."

Susan sniffle trying to draw the tears back but when she look back at Anita struggling with the men, the tears came back rolling uncontrollably down her cheek..

Charana didn't bother waiting for a reply before she left...

"Bring her to the car.."She ordered the men who started dragging Anita away..

Susan quickly ran after them...
"I'm coming with you.."She said when she got to where they were..

"Please you're welcome.."Charana replied..

"So she's mad.."Mr Carter asked again in acertation...

"That's more like it..."Mr Smith replied before he glanced over to Samuel...

"Come on sir, you don't need to apologise.."Samuel said with shrugged shoulders.."We know things like this happen.., I solely believe her madness was just God way to vindicate me.., that girl is a liar.."

"We know that now.."Mr Carter said.."And that's why the company have chosen to compensate you for any embarrassment you must have face today with a five million naira cheque..."

"Five what..?"Samuel reiterated, the money ringing in his head.

Mr Carter smile and tossed the cheque to his side....."This is just our way of apologising to you..."

Smile surrounding Samuel's lips, he pick the cheque up and stare at the figures..."Thank you sir.."

Susan watched with saddened heart as they carried Anita into the backseat of the hospital ambulance, till now she still can't tell the reason for her madness and it infuriated her., she was about entering the front seat of the ambulance when her phone rang.., she quickly took it out and made a few steps from the ambulance before she answered the call...

"Henry.."She said when the call connected.., her voice rumbling low than usual..

"How did it go...?"Henry's voice came up..

Susan took her eyes to the ambulance before she look away again..."I don't know what happened Henry..., Anita is mad."

"Anita is what...?"

A tear dropped from Susan's eyes as she remembered the events that transpired earlier and just when she was about replying, she heard the ambulance engine starts, she reverts her gaze to it but she was a split second late, the car moved before she could take a step...

Her heart skipped before she jolted from the shock, then she took to her heels and started pursuing the car, when she couldn't meet up, she stood,a tear rolled down, realising what just happened, she screamed...."Anita..."

"Hold her down.."Doctor Charana said taking an injection from a box..

Anita struggled, kicking and fighting with her hands as the men tried to pin her down.., she scream when Charana took the syringe close to her..

"Hold her.."Charana said when Anita mistakenly freed her hand from their grasp almost hitting the syringe from Charana hand...., Slowly, Charana injected every bit of the content of the syringe inside Anita's body..

Anita struggle subside and she became still, her eyes went blurry and it felt like everything was fading out.., little by little, her eyes began to shut until she drown into an oblivion of unconsciousness...

"Sleep, little sweet peas..."Charana said.."Your journey has just began.."

Samuel looked from the wind up screen of his car as the driver drove into the parking lot and stopped the vehicle after finding a spot to park..., he curl his lips, his face still smouldering in his stony look, the fear that he may lose everything came up, building up his anger like an impossible built up steam....

"Aren't we going to get out of the car..?"Festus ask looking at him..

Samuel didn't reply, instead he turned his stony look towards him before his eyes caught sight of the vehicles that were entering into the compound..., he quickly opened the backseat car and jumped out, Festus followed suit...

He watch, eyes burning with an intensity that could melt metals as one of the security men opened the car doors..., a vein swell in the back of his neck as he saw the girl he had met at the station, then she came out, his enemy, the girl he had stole from..

Success quickly hid herself on seeing Susan and Anita, seeing her with Samuel and Festus is the last thing she needs...

"That's her huh.."Festus whispered into Samuel's ears..

Susan glare at him the moment she laid eyes on him, a momentary flare of anger vividly showing on her face...

"Miss Anita.."Beatrice said when she noticed they were hesitating..."Please shall we go in.."

Anita nodded then she wore a smile that disappeared the way it came..

Still surprised at Anita's attitude, Susan manage to take her face from Samuel and hold Anita...
"Cheer up.."Susan said to Anita touching her chin before she followed Beatrice who led them into the building..

"That girl.."Festus said when Anita and Susan disappeared out of sight..."She seem a little off.."

"She thought she has won.."Samuel said with a five course of rage that tasted bitter..."I'll show her..."

"What do you plan to do..?"Festus ask

"Success was right after all.."Samuel said reverting his gaze to Festus.."It's her word against mine.."

Festus sigh then he walk towards the backseat of the car and knock on the car screen...

"Aren't you coming out..?"Festus ask when Success wind down.

Success look ahead allowing her eyes to scan the area it can reach before she lowered her gaze to meet Festus..."No.., I'll wait in the car.."

"Why...?"Ask Festus..."You don't want your friends to see you.."

She purse her lips, look away to toss a strap of her hair backward before turning to face him again...."If the answer will make you happy.., yes I don't want them to see me.."

"You better pick a side..."Festus riposte..."Them or us.., you can't be with us and be scared of them.."

Sucess rolled her eyes and without giving him a dignity of a reply, she wind up...

"She's staying in the car.."Festus said walking back to Samuel..

"Suit herself..."Samuel said fixing his gaze in the building.., he imagined what will happened if she wins and everything is taken from him....., he frowned knowing fully Well loosing a penny to Anita is not an option...

"Let's go.."Samuel said before he began walking towards the building with Festus tagging along...

As Susan looked over at Anita's side, she found her looking into space.., she seem like a different person, pale and strange, she would scratch her hair every minute and it made her worried if she's alright...

"Miss Anita will be going alone from here..."Beatrice said stopping them..

"Why..?"Susan ask moving her gaze from Anita to Beatrice

"This is a board meeting that's been held for just two people and only those two people are allowed inside with the board directors.."

"But I'm her friend.."

"And as a friend, you'll wait for her right here in the lobby...."

For a thing Susan felt she shouldn't leave Anita not when she's acting strange..., she looked back when she heard footsteps only to see Samuel and Festus walking towards them..., her jaw clamped tight as her eyes burn with suppressed rage...

"Mr Samuel.."Beatrice said, a smile playing on her lips..."Please only you and Anita are allowed..., no third parties.."

"I absolutely have no problem in going in alone.."Samuel said, a smirk playing on his lips..."Just like they say.., the innocent ones have nothing to be scared of.."

Susan grind her teeth, every fibre of muscles in her wants to attack him but she knew better, any stupid mistake and it'll be the end....

"I'll be waiting here for you buddy..."Festus said walking to a couch to sit....

A taunting smirk played on Samuel's lips before he opened the conference room door and walked in....

Susan swallowed trying hard to ignore the bitterness lingering inside her.., she looked back at Anita and placed her hand on her shoulder..."Anita you need to take hold of yourself and do this okay.., this is the only chance you've got to prove to everyone in there that the story is yours..."

Anita touch her hair then she took one strap and twist it all the while looking lost..

"Anita.."Susan snapped...

"Yes I'll do it.."Anita replied shaking, nodding her head vehemently...

"Miss Anita they're waiting for you..."Beatrice chime in..

Anita suck her head as she try to beat the radio waves around her head..., when Beatrice opened the door, she ran in like she was been pursued by an invisible force...

"Anita.."Susan called out trying to run after her but Beatrice stopped her...

"Please.., you'll have to wait for her..."Beatrice said

"Okay.."Susan said her voice rumbling low.., she watch as Beatrice entered and the door was shut, just then fear thoughts began to looped around her head.., her head buzz with questions she had no answer to..., she's scared, scared something is happening to Anita, something she's not getting....

"Are you afraid she'll lose.."Festus dare to say from behind her...

Susan turned around with the alertness of the words.., she glared at him with a wide red rimmed eyes, engulf with anger she took a step with the intention of unleashing every anger she was feeling on him but then she stopped realising any stupid action of hers could ruin everything..., she swallow trying to calm the raging storm inside her.....

"Are you scared your thief of a friend's lies will come into surface...?"She ask back, a smirk playing on her lips..

Festus chuckle..."Are you serious.., even till now you still holding on to that lie your friend told in that stupid video she made..., you two are very funny.."

"You and your friend are disgusting.."Susan sneer venting her disgust before she sat on the couch across him...

Festus nibbed.."Mmm..., but your friend don't feel well though.., could it be the lies she told is beginning to eat her up.."

Raw anger swept across Susan's face but she knows better.., he was just trying to get on her nerves....."Your friend will fall flat on his face when everything is been taking away from him.., you just watch and see.."

"Mm-hmm..., let's watch and see.."Festus said with a smile....

Susan quickly turn her face away.., she hated his guts and if she keeps replying him, her anger might push her into doing something she isn't prepared for...

Anita turned her head from one person to the other.., her head was in chaos.., her mind dark, subsisting on the burnt tinder of who she was, In the ashes there is nothing to even renew a spark, all she can do is huddle in that moment, live from heartbeat to heartbeat, she felt like the world isn't really there at all, like it was stolen and replaced with something empty, photoshopped, fake, It makes sense in a weird way.....

"We're glad the two of you could make it to this meeting.."Mr Smith said..."We apologise for prying into your time but the reason for this discussion deem it important...., Miss Anita..."He called shifting his gaze to her..

Anita didn't reply, instead she rocked the chair, always in motion, her face is just the same as when she was a girl in distress, buckling under the strain. Every few seconds her hand flickers to her face to swat invisible insects....

The board members and Samuel excahnge glances...

"Miss Anita.."Mr Smith called again..

Anita raise her gaze to look at him immediately, then she smile but the smile quickly disappeared as it came..., then she opened her mouth to talk but what came out of her mouth was engulfed in stutters that made no sense...

With throbbing heart, Samuel look at her.., first he wasn't clear what was wrong with her but when she hit the glass board table, he knew right there the meeting will be in his favour..

"Miss Anita, are you okay..?"Mr Smith ask..

"One sheep, two sheep..."Anita mutter biting her fingers...."Why do cats loves sands..?"She added looking at each of them with wide eyes...., then she frowned when no body answered her..."No..., cats don't like sands.., they like books.."

"Miss Anita.."Mr Smith retorted irritated with her attitude..

Samuel smile and reclined his back, he almost smile but he felt it was too early to start celebrating her victory, just then he took his phone out and texted a number..

"Miss Anita are you okay..?"Mr Smith ask again

"She's not okay, she's insane.."one of the board members chime in brusquely

"I'm not mad.."Anita cut in turning her head, then she began to shake her head vehemently..., slowly, insanity begin to steal into her mind like a deranged thief, taking what was important to her, adding new dangerous ideas, seeding a new personality and muddling up the rest. New sparks of ideas that once she would have dismissed as bizarre started to grow roots, deep roots, they started to make sense in one revolutionary eureka moment after another, cascading out of control, luring her further and further from the self she once knew, until she was so deep that she could no longer recognise anyone or have any positive the thought of her own...

"Miss Anita.."

"Stop calling me.."She yelled hitting the table, then she stood up..

One of the board members sitting close to her got startled, she quickly stood up and gave Anita some distance..

Anita smile, then she pushed the chair behind her away and began to walk around, forming circles with her fingers in her own distorted reality...

"Smith this girl is totally insane..."Another of the board member said...

Mr Smith sigh.."Miss Anita.."He called out again...

Beatrice dropped the note she was holding and walk up to Anita...
"Miss Anita.."She said holding her..

Anita turn to look at her but too slowly to be normal, she peered her eyes at him, her head scrambling and trying to differentiate what's a threat and what's not.., a sharp pain lanced across her and quickly she scream and tore the bandage on her head before she raised her gaze to Beatrice again..

"Miss Anita.."Beatrice said trying to hold her..

The hold intensified the beastly rage in Anita and just then the countdown to her explosion began..., her brain jostled up replaying calmness with violent.., it triggered every fibre of muscles inside her.., she acted on it and with it, she latched out by pushing Beatrice..

Beatrice lost her balance but one of the board members reach out to her before she could fall but Anita wasn't done, she pushed her again, her push sending both Beatrice and the board member that hold her against the glass table...

"Security..."Mr Smith quickly shouted when Anita got of hand...

For a minute, Susan stood still as the pain that came with the slap sink deep into her.., just then it hit her making her turn her furious gaze at him...., her anger pushed her and without further instruction from her brain, she got hold of his police shirt with her handcuffed hand...

"How dare you...?"Susan latched out with a yell that echoed around...

Other policemen quickly pull her hand from Sergeant Owen shirt but she didn't stop not until she gives him a bitter taste of the slap he gave her but when she couldn't, she threw a sloppy kick that stop midway....

"Take them away.."Sergeant Owen ordered...

"You'll regret this.."Doctor Bright hollered as they dragged the three of them to the police vehicle despite their struggle...

Sergeant Owen made a few steps then he took out his phone and dial Samuel's number....

"Please tell me you have them..."Samuel's worried voice came from the other end the moment the call connected...

"I have them..."Sergeant owen said looking back at the police Vehicle, from where he stood, he could still hear their screams and it annoyed him.....

"Are you serious..?"Samuel said, his voice carrying a loudness that irritated Sergeant Owen..

Sergeant Owen took the phone from his ears for a second then he placed it back and continued..."Yes I'm serious, but the doctor is with them, I couldn't let him go, so I arrested him.., what are we going to do about him..?"

"Come on officer..."Samuel's voice came again..."Do you really have to ask that.., charge him with something..., like aiding and abetting to helping a prisoner escape..., just charge him with something.., I really don't care what happens to any of them.."

Sergeant Owen made a lopsided grin..."What about the girls.., how do you intend on dealing with them..?"

"Just hold that stupid girl till the meeting is over.."Samuel said.."If she doesn't show up.., everything will go back as before and when that happens, she'll have to suffer for putting me through all this trouble..."

"What about the balance of my payment..?"Sergeant Owen ask..."I'm yet to receive any alert..."

There was hesitation then Samuel's voice came again...."I'll pay you your balance"

"Why did you hesitate before you answered me...?"Sergeant Owen ask reading a deep meaning to it..."I hope you aren't trying to trick me because if that's what you're planning, I'll come after you with everything I've got..."

"Why would I trick you officer..."Samuel said..."You worry about Anita and I'll worry about the money...., I'll call you after the meeting..."

Before Sergeant Owen could open his mouth to talk, the call ended and it infuriated him..

"Fool.."Sergeant Owen sneer , drop the phone in his pocket and began to walk towards the police car.., he stood when he saw a car with convoy approaching..., he decided to wait for a while and see where they were driving to but shock ran across his face when they stopped the exact point he was standing...

He watched as a young girl neatly dressed on female suit stepped out from the car while soldiers came out from the car convoy..

"What are you doing...?"Sergeant Owen quickly ask when one of the soldiers opened the police vehicle releasing Susan, the Doctor and Anita....

"Speak to the ACP...."The young lady said giving Sergeant Owen a phone..

Sergeant Owen hesitated a bit wondering what the ACP will want to tell him and how they got in touch with him.., he shivered a bit before he took the phone from her...

"Sir.."Sergeant Owen said

"Weren't you told to take the girls to the mako company..?"The ACP voice came up..

Sergeant Owen shivered when he recognise the voice, he glance at the girl and then to the soldiers and right there he knew everything was about going south...

"Well actually sir, I was taking them there..."Sergeant Owen said with pants breathe..

"That's a lie.."Susan shouted from where she stood.."You were trying to kill us..."

Sergeant Owen almost glare at Susan but quickly realise she'll say more if he keeps the phone connected and that's something he couldn't risk.., heaving in a dare breathe.., he ended the call and handed the phone to her...

"Thank you officer but we'll take them from here.."The young lady told him..

Sergeant Owen grunts as fury burn inside him but he didn't show it, instead he smiled..."Please.., let me take them.."

"Please uncuff them.."She said

Sergeant Owen sigh before he signalled one of the policemen who quickly uncuff them....

"He should be arrested..."Susan blare out..."He's a corrupt policeman.."

Sergeant Owen glare at her before he signalled his men, they quickly entered their vehicle and drove off in full speed....

"That man doesn't deserve to be a policeman.."Doctor Bright said rubbing the marks in his wrist made by the handcuff...

"And you are..?"The lady ask..

"Doctor Bright.."He said with a smile extending his hand for a handshake..

"Beatrice.."She said welcoming the handshake...."Are you with Miss Anita.."She ask glancing at Anita's side..

Doctor Bright huff.."Well actually, I was taking them to the company before we were stopped and handcuffed by those policemen..."

"Well thank you Doc.., we'll handle it from here..."

"Oh yeah sure.."

"Miss Anita.."She said walking towards her.."I was sent to bring you to the company.., the board is waiting for you..."

"I'm coming with her.."Susan said.."I'm her friend.."

"Of course..."She said and quickly pointed at the car.."Please hop in.."

Susan looked at Anita who was acting weird.., she was awfully quiet and looking around like she's lost and there was no way out.., she wanted to ask what the problem was but then she decided to let it go, considering everything she had gone through..she needs her quiet time...

"Thank you Doc.."Susan said when Anita refuse to step up to speak.....

Doctor Bright smile and lean his mouth close to her ears...."Watch your friend., she's acting strange..."He whisper in Susan's ears..

Susan manage a smile and glance at Anita's side, she caught her staring into space...

"Ani.."Susan said holding her hand..."Let's go.."She added and directed her to the car, they entered the backseat while Beatrice sat in the front with the driver.., it didn't take a minute before they turn the vehicle around and drove off leaving the doctor behind..

"I hope you succeed.. "Doctor Bright mutter before he entered his own car and begin to head back to the hospital...

Samuel's phone ringing tone jolted him from his thoughts.., he pick up the phone from the chair and stare at the caller..

"Why is this moròn calling me again.."Samuel said harshly noticing it's Sergeant Owen calling..

"I hope he isn't calling to say she escaped again.."Festus said..

"He better not.."Samuel said before he answered the call...."Officer.."He dragged between his teeth..

"Something happened.. "Sergeant Owen's voice sounded from the other end..

Samuel frown at the statement..."What is it..?"

"A girl from the company showed up with a convoy of soldiers..., she had the ACP on phone..., I let her go after I spoke to the ACP.."

"You let who go..?"Samuel queried sitting up from the comfort of the car seat

"Anita.."Sergeant Owen said..."They're taking her to the company.., she's your problem now..."

Samuel curled his lips and quickly he ended the call......"You incompetent bastard.."He cursed with clasped hands...

"What is it...?"Success ask from the front seat...

"She's coming..., that stupid girl is going to the company...."

"What.., how..?"Festus ask before his phone started ringing.., he pick his phone up and look up at Samuel...."Nurse Titi is calling.."

Samuel hissed as his brows furrowed...."Tell her I'll ruin her...."

Festus ignore Samuel's statement and answered the call..."What is it..?"He ask

"Have you seen the bomb...?"Nurse Titi voice sounded from the other end..

"What bomb..?"Festus ask impatiently

"It'll detonate soon.."Nurse Titi said..."Just watch how it explodes.."

"You're saying trash.."Festus said and ended the call..

Doctor Bright sigh as he turn the car steering to another side of the road..., his pick up his phone only to drop it back then he pick it again when it started ringing, he look at the caller and smile knowing it's one of his trusted nurse calling him.., his attention was probably needed at the hospital..

"Jane..."He said the moment he answered the call .

"Doctor.."Jane voice came up....."I think we made a mistake sir.."

"What mistake..?"Doctor Bright ask confuse on what she's talking about..

"The syringe Doctor...."Jane said..."The syringe you gave to that girl when she fainted..., I smelled it.., it didn't smell like extra pain relief..., it was corrosive.."

"Corrosive.."Doctor Bright reiterated shocked.."What do you mean..?"

"It was anabolic steroid sir..., it messes with the brain within minutes.., are you there with her sir, is she showing any strange behaviour....?"

Shocked, Doctor Bright brood over that moment Anita poked her head from the car and then the strange way she was acting...

"I don't know how it got into the box.."Jane voice came again.."But I think someone switched it sir.."

Doctor Bright's eyes enlarged as he imagined the worst effects of been injected with an anabolic steroid, within minutes she'll become violent if not properly hold and controlled......."Oh no.."He mutter, dropped the phone and quickly turn the vehicle around and began to head for the company....

"The doctor is not here sir.."The constable said

Sergeant Owen anger spiked before he turned around knowing fully well he's been played for a fool.., he walked to the police car as the two other policemen ran after him....

Nostrils flaring, Samuel stood up from the chair with his fists clenched at his side, he kept silent letting his anger boiled deep inside him as hot as lava. It churned within, hungry for destruction, and he know it's too much for him to handle but there was nothing he could do but erupt with it and with that he turned on the table like an enraged panther, pick up the flower vase and threw it hard against the wall..., the case broke at point of contact as pieces of it scattered all over the house....

Festus heart jumped as the sudden reaction replay over and over in his head...

"Calm down..."Success shouted getting up from where she was sitting

"Calm down..."Samuel retorted, his voice loud and thunderous that it scared Success to death...

Festus open his mouth to talk but nothing came, so he resorted to clipped words and clasped hands...

"Shit..."Festus finally blare out hitting his palm on the wall as he glance over to the broken vase...

"She isn't there yet.."Success said..."She even barely escaped from the hospital..."

"That's the point.."Samuel yelled, siliva bursting off with his loud voice...."She escaped from hospital and you know what else she'll do..?"

Success sigh but didn't say a word, she could never have guessed Samuel will be so much affected with Anita going to the company....., earlier that morning she's been thinking seriously on what to do, whose side to join.., she was already in with Samuel and switching sides now could be dangerous..., Samuel already warned her and if she runs now, he'll find her and probably kill her....., as much as she want to help Anita.., she can't...helping her is not an option now, survival is...

"She'll go there.."Samuel continue, a look of bitterness sweeping across his face..."And she'll tell them everything..., every damn detail about how she wrote the story.."

"And so what..?"Success said..."It's her word against yours..."

"You can't compare original and fake...."Festus chime in.."It's risky.., she probably knows every single detail about that story...."

"Success hissed silently before she lowered her head to glance at her time..."It's past 9 already.., shouldn't we get going...?"

As the car engine sung to the express roads, Anita relished the roaring winds that twirled in her hair and whistled in her ears....., she felt her life was shattered and she isn't sure if it will ever be right again....

"Thank you for doing this..."Anita said turning to face the doctor..

Doctor Bright knew before she spoke, that sparkle of the day she made the video was extinguished. Her eyes moved slower and always more down-cast, skimming the floor, rarely raising to eye level. It was in her voice too, quieter, with a meekness that wasn't really part of her speech patter when she made the video....

"This is the 6th time you're thanking me..."Doctor Bright said slightly looking at her but still fixing his gaze on the road...

"I know.."Anita said..."No one will want to do what you're doing...."

Doctor Bright scoffs.."I'm not no one..., I'm me.."

Anita manage a smile that disappeared within seconds...

"How's your head..?"Doctor Bright ask

"Better.."Anita said

"How long before we get there..?"Susan ask from the backseat...

"We're almost close...."Doctor Bright said looking at the map..

Anita took a minute to take a deep breathe, she tried to reason on what is installed for her but quickly realise her brain was becoming foggy and fading into nothingness, then all of a sudden, she poked her head from the windshield....

"Don't do that...."Doctor Bright blare out looking at her and same time trying to maintain his driving lane...

Anita manage to withdraw her head, she sat still for a while all the way watching as the vehicle drive past tress and bushes...

"What did you do that for...?"Doctor Bright ask looking at her but when she gave no immediate reply, he revert his gaze back to the road..

Anita became edgy in her sitting position, then she quickly shift her gaze to him and wore a clumsy smile that disappeared the very second it came...

"Are you okay...?"Doctor Bright ask finding her new found behaviour less funny...

"Yes..."She replied immediately, her voice coming out like a baby.., then she look away, rock back and forth in the chair, all the while banging her hands rhythmically on her lap....

"Anita..."The Doctor call looking back at her...

"Anita.."Susan chime in, Anita's sudden behaviour calling her interest.....

"Yes..."She answered immediately tossing a strap of her hair from her face..

"Are you okay..?"Susan ask

Anita nodded and quickly look away like some damsel in distress..

"Oh no.."Doctor Bright mutter when he saw policemen ahead standing right in the middle of the road...

"Do you think they've been waiting for us..?"Susan ask immediately reading deep meaning to the Doctor's exclamation..

"No I don't think so..."Doctor Bright said slowing down the car when he got to where they are.., he stopped when one of them signalled then he watched as one of the policemen walked towards him...

"Officer..."Doctor Bright said with a smile..

The policeman didn't bother replying, instead he look towards Anita's side and Susan on the backseat of the car.., then he called his colleagues who quickly walked towards him...

"What is going on..?"Doctor Bright ask anxiously when the policemen began to round them up...

"Step out of the car..."One of the policemen ordered in a baritone voice....

"What for..?"Doctor Bright ask but before he could get his answer, another of the policemen opened the other door of the front seat car and dragged out Anita who quickly screamed in retaliation..

"What is the meaning of this....?"Doctor Bright queried opening his side door to step out....

"Leave her alone.."Susan hollered the moment she came down

"You're all under arrest..."The policeman said forcing handcuffs on the three of them..

"Under arrest for what..?"The Doctor queried as he struggle with them but they wore the handcuff in his hand anyway.....

"What did we do to you..?"Susan yelled...

"This is insane.."Said Doctor Bright as they drag him to the police car......., but they stopped when another police vehicle joined them..

"I know it's you.."Susan sneer when Sergeant Owen came out from the police vehicle that joined them....."What did we ever do to you..?"She yelled glaring at him....

A smirk surround Sergeant Owen face as he walk close to her and then with a burning rage, he slammed his hand across her face, snapping it back with the force of his blow and causing Susan's head to reel sickeningly..., The slap was as loud as a clap and it stung her face..., and just below her eye was a small cut where his ring had caught her. Susan staggered backwards, clutching her face, eyes watering.....

Samuel's ringing tone went off like a buzzer snake waking him up from his thoughts..., he wipe his eyes, pick his phone up and look at the caller..., his eyes went wide realising it was Mr Smith from the company that was calling..., he hesitated a bit knowing fully Well the call must be about bad news....

"Mr Smith, good morning sir.."Samuel said the moment he answered the call...

"Mr Samuel..."Mr Smith voice trail slowly......"We'll be meeting you in a board meeting by 10AM.., Anita has been found and the board has scheduled a meeting by 10AM with her so we can trash this trending issue of plagiarism once and for all..."

Samuel's heart pounded and quickly he stood up from the couch when he couldn't bear the feeling anymore.., the fear of loosing everything he has to Anita sits on him like a pillow over his mouth and nose.., enough air gets by allowing his body to be partially functioning...but it seems crippling....

"Well sir.."He said, his mouth shaking with the weight that comes with the fear lingering inside him..."I have an appointment at that time sir.."

"You'll have to cancel any appointment you have Mr Samuel.."Mr Smith voice came again..."Failure to comply to this simple request.., the board will take an automatic legal action against you and trust me, you wouldn't want that..., see you at 10"

Samuel collapse on the chair the moment the call dropped dead, the crippling fear making his legs weak and his heart ache....

"I heard you talking to someone.."Festus said entering the room with a slice of bread in his hand..."Who called..?"

"They're going to meet her by 10 and they want me to be there..."Samuel said, his voice rumbling low than he could have imagined..

"Meet who.., Anita..?"

"Yes.."He replied looking downcast...."I can't let them meet her, if she goes there and tell them everything..., I'll be damned.."

In the wash of the new light, Anita's face takes on the appearance of an old photograph handcuffed to the hospital bed iron, The curtains add an orange glow to the morning light, every morning was once a perfect sunrise to her but this day was different, this is a day she has vowed never to forget, a day that will always be on her diary and a day she wished she makes things right and let the bastard pay...

"Didn't you sleep...?"She ask Susan who was shutting the blind to cover the sun from entering her eyes..

"How could I.."Susan said rubbing the dizziness from her eyes with the back of her arms....

"Henry isn't back yet..?"Anita ask wanting to straightened her hand but the handcuff pulled her back and she grunt...

"Is it hurting your hand..?"Susan ask..."I mean the handcuffs..."

Anita inhale deeply, look around and turn to face Susan again...."I've been waiting for this sunlight..., I hope it bring forth good news at the end..."

Susan sigh and with folded arms, she trot towards Anita and sat on the bed with her..."We'll win this.., I believe in you..."

"Who knows what he must have told them.."

"Who knows whose story they'll believe...."Susan said but quickly spun around to face the door when it opened..

"The police is here.."Henry said from the door...."And they're coming this way..."

"The police...!"Anita ask, the fear of what they might do making her shudder..."The police are taking me there..?"

"I thought the company were going to send someone to pick you up.."Susan said

"I can't go with the police..."Anita said gently.."They could be planning something..."

Susan fused her focus on the door the moment she heard approaching footsteps.., it didn't take more than a minute before three policemen including the annoying one they had meant at the station appeared at the door...

Sergeant Owen locked eyes with Susan upon recognition, his hand brush his small pistol strap to the gun jacket on his waist before he wore a hellishly mean glare on his face.....

Susan reciprocated the look in attempt of sending back the message that comes with the look...she's not scared of him..

"Take her..."Sergeant Owen said to the two other policemen...

The two corporal wasted no time in walking towards Anita who tried to run forgetting she was handcuffed to the bed..

"Where are you taking her to..?"Susan dared to ask as Anita was uncuffed and rough handling dragged from the bed not minding the bandage on her forehead....

Sergeant Owen stare daggers at her in the name of pissing her off even more, then he turn around to leave as the two other policemen dragged Anita out...

"Let me go..."Anita struggled with them but it was useless

"You're not taking her away..."Susan said running to stop in front of them....."She's not a criminal..."

A flash of annoyance sparked in Sergeant Owen eyes but he didn't react to it the moment he noticed people were beginning to gather around....

"What is the meaning of this...?"A voice chime in few steps away from them....

"Doctor Bright.."Henry mutter the moment he recognised the man.., he quickly walk pass the policemen to meet the doctor...

"What is going on here..?"Doctor Bright asked again stopping in their front.., he took a minute to look at Anita whose tears were dropping from her eyes.., annoyed he averted his eyes to sergeant Owen..

"Sergeant Owen.."Sergeant Owen said showing him his ID...."This girl is in our custody and she was brought in here last night because she got into a fight with her cell mate, a fight she didn't win and now I've come to take her back..."

"With the bandage on her head..?"Doctor Bright ask...."I can't let you take her away like that...., not in this condition.."

Sergeant Owen scoffs..."We aren't going back to the station Doctor..., I was given an instruction to take her to mako company for questioning.."

"Wherever you're taking her, she's not going in this condition.."Doctor Bright retorted..

"I'm not taking permission from you Doctor...."Sergeant Owen said..."The bills has been settled already by the company.., so do yourself a favour by stepping out of the way.."

"You talk as if she's some common criminal..."

"But that's what she is.., a common criminal..."Sergeant Owen sneer..., a no gooder who tells lies to defame people..., so Doctor, step out of the way.."

Doctor Bright glance at Anita's face then Susan who was shaking her head before he reverts them back to Sergeant Owen....

"No.."The doctor said after much silence..."She's my patient and I decide when she's been discharged and when she's not.., but if you still insist on dragging her out of here.., then I'll have to take legal action..., trust me, we don't want to take that route.."

Anita breathes stuttered as she saw the glares that were been exchanged between the doctor and the policeman, deep down she knew the policemen aren't going to take her to the company, they work for Samuel and the doctor can't keep her safe in the hospital either...., she glanced at Susan then at Henry and quickly let her brain revisit the discussion she had with Susan earlier and now she's finally decided to act on it.., she didn't wait for any more words from the policeman and the doctor before she shut her eyes.., loosen herself and slumped freely to the ground....

Doctor Owen and other nurses around quickly rushed at her...

"Oh God.."Doctor Owen mutter lifting Anita up..."I think she fainted..., take her back to the room.."

The constables looked at Sergeant Owen, when he gave the order, they carried her up and rushed her back to the room..

"Everybody out of the room...."Doctor Bright said taking taking an injection from a first aid box one of the nurses was carrying..., he took Anita's hand and quickly injected it in her body..., after he empty it, he dropped it back in the box...

"You all should leave.."He reiterated when he noticed people were still standing..

"I should stay with her.."Susan said before she motioned Henry to leave with the policemen and the other nurses..., then she shut the door after she was sure they were a bit far from earshot....

The doctor quickly look back at Anita, he touch her arm, then her chin before he opened his mouth to talk..."You can open your eyes now.."

Anita didn't waste time before she opened her eyes...

"Why did you pretend to have fainted..?"Doctor Bright ask curiously...

"Help me..."Anita said with pants breathe..

"Those policemen are up to no good.."Susan chime in as she step forward..."They work for the person who put her here.."

"Aren't you the girl that made that video of your story been plagiarised...?"Doctor Bright ask..

"Yes..."Anita said...

"The company that rewarded the guy who stole her story wants to talk to her.."Susan chime in.."This is her only chance to say the truth and take back what's hers..."

"But you can't go in this condition, you're burning up.., that's why I gave you that injection.."

"This is my only chance Doctor..."Anita said.."Please help me get out of here..."

Sergeant Owen pace around the police vehicle.., he glance at his time again, it was 8:23AM just an hour and some minutes to the meeting time...., he sigh when his phone vibrated in his pocket, he took it out, glance at his sides to make sure no one was looking at him before he answered the call...

"I'm at the hospital.."Sergeant Owen said when the call connected

"She's still there..?"Samuel ask with anxious voice..

"Yes..., she fainted when we were taking her out.. "

"And you left her..."Samuel shouted from the other end.."Mr Owen there's no time.., she must be stopped.., it could be she faked her fainting..."

"Yeah you're right.."Sergeant Owen said.."I've been waiting outside for more than thirty minutes now.., I'm going in.."

"Please keep the phone connected.., I want to hear her voice to be sure she's still there.."

Without a reply, Sergeant dropped the still connected phone in his pocket, called the two other policemen and together they walked into the corridor again...

"Hurry up.."Sergeant Owen shouted hastening up his feet.., he finally got there and with frown lines in his face, he turn down the door knob...., the shock of seeing an empty bed pushed him aback....

"Where is she..?"He furiously ask a nurse passing by..

"I don't know.."The nurse replied shifting back to fray from Sergeant Owen's fury...

Furious, he took his phone out from his pocket and took it to his ears..."She's not here but I'm going to find her..."He said and ended the call before Samuel could reply.., Anita took him for a fool and it angered him.., he quickly scroll to the contact on his phone and dialled a number...

"Sergeant.."A voice said from the other end when the call connected..

"Look out for two girls especially the one that made that video of her story been plagiarised..., she escaped from our custody, she's now a criminal, treat her as one..., pass the information to the rest.."

He ended the call and turn to face the other two constables....."One of you find me the damn doctor......"

"Anita" Susan mutter running towards her only to see her laying on the bed with a bandage on her head, she touch Anita's hand, she sigh relived it was warm...

"Excuse me who are you..?"Nurse Titi ask hiding the syringe behind her......

Susan turns, but too slowly to be normal. When she speaks her voice trails slowly, like her words are unwilling to take flight. There is a sadness in her eyes, the sadness that comes with seeing her friend laying helplessly on the bed.., she had an instinct that something will happen when the policeman refused her and Henry seeing her....

"Is she okay..?"Susan ask with a calm voice

Nurse Titi lips curled as torrents of resentment burn inside her eyes.., she was at the verge of doing what she ought to do to prevent herself from public disgrace and now someone just want to ruin everything....

"I asked a question..."Nurse Titi said, her anger almost interferring in her voice....."Who are you..?"

Susan curled up in her sitting position as she remembered how she got the news of Anita been admitted in the hospital, the police woman they saw as the police station had called them a few minutes ago, she didn't really give them much detail about what transpired and brought Anita to the hospital but the little she told them was enough to know Anita was in a bad shape..., she took her hand from Anita's face, sniffles before raising her gaze to face Nurse Titi......

"I'm her friend..."Susan's voice trail gently...

"Well you shouldn't be here.."Nurse Tito replied shapily, her facial expression venting her disgust...."It's midnight and it's past visiting time.."

Susan exhale, glance at Anita who was laying on the bed before reverting her gaze to her..."I'm sorry, I rushed here the moment I heard what happened to her..."

"Is she okay..?"Henry's voice chime in from behind and Nurse Titi quickly spun around to see the person..

Nurse Titi brows furrowed as she glance from Henry who was standing at the door to Susan who was sitting on the bed.., when Henry step into the room, right there she knew all her plans were going to hell...

"She's not..."Susan replied standing up to hold Henry for support when he drew close to her...."I knew something like this will happen.."She added without a single regards to the third person in the room...

A flash of annoyance swept across nurse Titi face as Henry drew closer to Anita..., she was loosing patience, this is only chance giving to her by those devils to save her dignity....

"You cannot be here..."Nurse Titi stated again this time stepping beside them...

"She's our friend.."Henry said barely looking her way..

"Yes she said that.."Nurse Titi retorted..."Visiting hours is over, it's midnight already, you cannot disturb her and men aren't even allowed in the female ward.."

Henry sigh..."I'm not planning on staying.. "

"Then leave.."Nurse Titi said back with a fume of annoyance...

"What are you even doing here..?"Susan Chime in turning her face to look at her.., right there her eyes caught the syringe nurse Titi is holding......"And what's that in your hand.."She added suspiciously as her head read deep meaning to it..

"I'm her nurse.."Nurse Titi replied immediately....

"And you want to give her that by this time..?"Susan ask pointing at the syringe in Nurse Titi hand

Nurse Titi face flushed red, the question angered her and the fact that she was slowly hitting the point angered her more...."I'm only going to give her this to ease her pains..."

Susan didn't believe, an instinct tells her the nurse was up to something more than she's letting on..

"Now if you may excuse me, I need to give her this and go back to my desk.."Nurse Titi said walking closer to Anita again...

"Is that pain relief..?"Susan ask quickly the moment Nurse Titi took up Anita's arm...

Nurse Titi grunt, her facial expression showing her contempt to the question...."I just said so.."She replied looking back at her...

Susan glance at Henry, tossed a strap of her hair aside before opening her mouth to talk.."Weren't she given a pain relief before now..?"

"Do you have something to say..?"Nurse Titi retorted.

"Do you have something to say..?"Susan ask back

A muscle twitches in Nurse Titi forehead and quickly she dropped Anita's arm and pocket the syringe...."Look.., your friend was brought here in a bad shape.., she had a concussion, so if you don't want me to do my job by giving her what will ease her of the pains she'll be feeling when she wakes up.., then be ready to answer for anything that comes because I'll not be queried because some friend thinks I want to kill her friend...., excuse me.."She said walking through their middle..

"Wait.."Henry said stopping nurse Titi in her tracks..

Nurse Titi took a deep breathe, though angry but she was a bit happy she was stopped.., the feeling was welcoming..., she drag in another breathe before she spun around to face them..."What.., you want to accuse me of killing her..?"

"She wasn't accusing you of killing her.."Henry said in defense.

"Really...!, so what exactly does she mean by the silly questions she's been asking me..?"

"A lot has happened over the past few hours.."Said Henry poking his nose before glancing over to Susan's side whose gaze was on Anita...

"So what has that got to do with my job.."Nurse Titi ask..

"Please.., just do what you wanted to do...."Henry said

Nurse Titi almost smile but she knew any silly mistake from her side will ruin the plans, with that thought she maintain her stony look.., took the syringe from her pocket again and trot towards Anita the third time.., she caught Susan's eyes staring..., glaring at her and right there she knew she had to be fast.., Susan was like the devil ready to destroy everything she cherishes..., the way she was looking at her anyone could tell she doesn't believe it's just pain relieve she wants to give to her friend.., her eyes were deep, too deep that it scared her and for once she felt her hands a bit shaky....

She took Anita's hand and slowly she took the syringe closer.., she shut every form of remorse from her and was about plunging it in when Anita muttered Susan's name...

Shocked, Susan dragged Nurse Titi away before she could inject her...."Ani I'm here..."

Anita opened her eyes, then she blinked before she got the full sight of where she was and that was when the painful thought of what happened began to flash in her sight.., she was beaten, she bled and was brought to the hospital...

"Ani..."Susan mutter helping her to sit up reclining her back on the pillow..

Sharp pain lanced through Anita's head, she wince and touched the bandage on her forehead.....

"Excuse me.."Nurse Titi said stepping forward to retry...."Are you okay...?"She asked Anita..

Anita couldn't help but compare the night with her own state of mind. Just like the clouds, her insides were in a chaos, a mess...."I think I'm having a headache..."

"Please try to relax...."Nurse Titi said taking out the injection..."This will ease you of the pain..."

"No.."Anita mutter.."I can't take any more injections.."

"Oh dear.."Nurse Titi scoffs.."This is for your own good..."

"No I don't want..."Anita said showing her lack of interest with her hand..

"It's important I give you this, it'll ease you of the pain.."

"She said she don't want it.."Susan chime in..."Why are you forcing it on her...?"

Frown lines encroached on Nurse Titi face but she quickly fake smile when she realised any unruly attitude from her could deem her a suspect and deep down she knows Susan already suspect her and saying anymore thing will just confirmed her suspicion...

Nurse Titi peered her eyes at her before she turned and walked away...

"You shouldn't have talked to her like that.."Henry said closing the room door..

"I don't trust that nurse.."Susan said

Furiously, Nurse Titi slammed the door behind her and threw the syringe on her desk...

"Stupid stupid stupid girl..."She sneer pacing about in the small office..

She bit her lips almost hard that she felt the pain that came with it when her phone began to ring.., she grabbed her bag, ransacked it before she finally got her hands on the phone...., she hissed realising it was Festus calling..., she hesitated a bit before she answered the call..

"Why haven't you been answering your call..?"Samuel's angry voice sounded.....

A ball of resentment stamped on her face as her head brood over his threat...

"Is it done..?"Samuel ask from the other end..

Nurse Titi exhale, turn around to face the door before answering him..."I was interrupted...."
