Slowly, Rose opened her eyes.., she blink oblivious of where she was.., just then the memory that has eluded her fired up in her head.., someone had kidnapped her..

She quickly opened her eyes wide at the reality of where she was..., she try to free herself, just then she realise she was tied to a chair....

She raise her gaze up, there she saw his back.., she wonder who he was..

Her heart skipped when he spun round to face her...

"Hello Rose... "He said with a grin... "You finally woke up.., i was getting impatient.

The fear thought looped around Francis mind, he couldn't think straight, ogini's daughters words keep echoing in his head...

They all sat, far away in their own thoughts, non saying anything to the other.., all stunned by what happened to Giselle and the appearance of the dagger that was on the floor...

"I don't still understand this.... "Kess said breaking the silence.... "Are you trying to tell me a strange god from another land wants you back...?

Francis swallowed, his eyes roaming on the dagger in the floor.., his head bubbling up scary questions he had no answer to...

"Ogini exists..."Giselle said with muffled lips, she couldn't get what happened to her out of her head.., if ogini's daughters did that to her, it only proves her theory, ogini exists...

Pious snort, still skeptical of the whole thing, but whenever he thought of what happened tp Giselle and Francis explanation..., he wasn't sure what to think anymore....

He carried her into the car and drove off leaving Rose car on the view....

Francis pushed the pillow from the bed, ogini's daughters words ringing in his head..., the thought of loosing the rest of his family and going mad hunt him...
He finally decided to stand by his decision....

Without hesitation, he pick up the sacred dagger, it was better he sacrificed himself than let someone die because of him..

He turn away his gaze from the picture and took off from the room...

He look at the cloud when he got outside, it was almost dark.., he wanted to say goodbye but it seems the rest of the family has gone out...

He look at the mansion again, then he began heading outside the gate....

The security men didn't bother to question him, they just watched as he went outside......

He took a few steps from the mansion, not looking back, he continued walking...

It wasn't long before someone hit him from behind.., he fell down and drown into a state of unconsciousness

Taka took a deep drag, then he look at the cloud that was shaping into darkness...

Before Pious could reach him, Taka crunched down, lost his balance and fell off the cliff landing with a thug on the river...

The water splashed as Taka's body landed......

Like a chased out dust.., Francis complete body disappeared out of sight...

Aluziya quickly woke up when a hand gripped her ..,she blink when she came face to face with the harsh reality of what was going on...

"Leave my daughter alone.. "Ariya shouted at the top of her voice as she was dragged away..

Non of the guards cared to listen to her pleas, nor the threat of her father's...

With tears in Aluziya eyes, she complied as they dragged them into the arena...

She was shock to see the large crowd at the arena.., she scan her eyes around..., her breathe nearly choke out of her lungs when she saw the execution stone at the middle of the arena.., beside the stone stood a man wearing a black mask on his face...with an axe.., she quickly realise he was the executioner.. ,she looked up and saw the king, his three wives and children....

With a pulsating heart, she moved her eyes away, there her eyes fell on the fearful image of ogini.., stood beside it was the dark priestess in her dark gown....

"People of Zulugua.. "Lord Chaka began.. "This men has defied our god, our saviour, ogini..., they brought in false gods to our land, which is an abomination in the eyes of ogini.., therefore they shall suffer the consequences.. "

"Kill the traitors... "Someone shouted from the crowd

"Do you all have anything to say before your death sweeps you away...?Lord Chaka asked

"I only have a request my lord.."Ugoloko said

"And what is your request..?

Ugoloko took a deep drag, he stare at his wife and Aluziya who were crying nonstop...., he never imagine he was going to end up like this, but he can't let his wife and children suffer the same fate.... "It's true that a man who can't control his family is an incapable man and worthy of death.., i alone have brought this calamity upon my family, i alone should suffer the consequences.., i beg you to let my wife and my child go... "

"If that's what you want, you.....

"Request denied.. "The dark priestess cut in before Lord Chaka could finish his statement...

"But why.., why kill someone that doesn't have a hand in what happened..? Ugoloko queried

"Your questions are useless... "The dark priestess countered... "You all allowed that evil book into your house, you all must suffer... "

"Priestess.. "Ugoloko hauled out infuriated..

"One more word, and i shall pulled out your tongue myself... "The dark priestess said.., then she face lord Chaka... "Proceed.. "

"I have a question... "Azodukala said

"This isn't a question and answer session.. "The dark priestess said

"But my question is very important priestess.., a question that even you will be interested in answering... "

The dark priestess glare at him..

Not minding her look, Azodukala crocked his throat... "And this is my question.., if worshippers of Hakundad are not killed for worshipping him, then why are we sentence to death because a strange power healed me of my affliction.., or is it that, ogini is afraid of this power.., or ogini is afraid of the God that wields the power..?

"Enough of your blasphemes... "The dark priestess retorted.. "ogini is not afraid of any power, because she is the greatest god.. "

"If that is the case.., aren't we entitled to welcome this strange God just the way the worshippers of Hakundad are entitled to serving him?

"Hakundad is a subject of ogini.., ogini in her infinite mercy made him a god, but they're not equal.. "

"So are you saying that the God who healed me is equal with ogini.., or is he greater than ogini..?

"Father... "Ugoloko shouted wanting to go to him but Ariya held him back..

Just then, Ludiba began to pushed his way through the crowd..

The executioner slowly raised the axe as he aims for his target's neck...

Finally, ludiba forced his way through...

Azodukala smile when he saw him.. "My....

Before he could finish his statement, the executioner cut off his head...

Their heart crushed as Azodukala head collasped to the floor, his eyes widely open...

"Nooo... "Ludiba shouted as he rushed to his lifeless weasled body...

"Ludiba.. "Ariya shouted as Ugoloko rushed to Azodukala de-attached body...

"Seize the boy.. "The dark priestess ordered

As the guards approached, Ugoloko tried to fight them off trying to give Ludiba time to escape, but time wasn't in their favour.., Ugoloko was punched on the jaw and he collapse to the floor making the dust splattered..

The guards immediately seize Ludiba...

"Where is the book...? The dark priestess queried...

Infuriated, Ludiba spat on her face... "I will never tell you.. "

The dark priestess curl her lips in anger as she wipe off the siliva from her face.., with great ferocity, she slapped him...

"Bring four horses... "She ordered..

Slowly, Ugoloko regained himself, he clenched his fist and stood up to his feet.., when he notice the executioner was looking elsewhere, he did the unthinkable.., he snatched the axe from him and began to held for the dark priestess...., he had one goal.., end the priestess...,he close all sense of reasoning.., damned the consequences...

Few inches to where the dark priestess was standing, a sword pierce through his stomach...

"Father.... "Aluziya shouted

Blood quickly rushed out from his mouth, he tried to look back, to see who has stab him from behind..., just then the dark priestess slit his throat...

Immensely bleeding, he collapse to the floor.., he tried to fight, he heard his daughter's voice calling him, just then he realised he has made a grave mistake, but it was too late.., his irrational decision has led him to his grave...

Slowly, he began to shut down.., every sense of feeling began to withered away.., just then he gave up the ghost...

Aluziya couldn't control her eyes.., her eyes darted from her grandfather to her father's body..

"Alu.. "Ariya muttered..

Aluziya couldn't breathe, her breathe rose and fall in shallow sobs..

"Alu... "Ariya muttered again tapping her... "You need to run away.., the guards are distracted by your father's death.., you need to run. "

"Buuuu...

"Listen to me Alu.., it's obvious they'll kill your brother and they'll kill me as well.., our entire family can't die here.., if your grandfather is right.., then it's my wish for you to see that day that the God of that book will come and destroy ogini.. "

"Momo..

"Go Aluziya.."She said pushing her away.. "before the guards turn their attention to us... "

With tears, she drift away from her mother's hands.., she took a last glance at her brother, then her father's body..., she glance at her mother again who manage to smile and nod her head...

Without hesitation.., she quickly ran into the crowd....

"The girl.., she's escaping... "Someone from the crowd shouted..

"Go after her and bring her back.. "Lord Chaka ordered..
Some of the guards quickly ran after her..

For the First time.., Ariya knelt down and prayed to the God of the book her children believed in to protect her daughter...

The dark priestess watched as Ludiba's two hands were tied to two different horses, while his two legs to another two horses.., it was the worst kind of dead ever...

With pounding heart, Ludiba accepted his fate..

With a whistle, the four horses darted off into different paths separating Ludiba's hands and legs from his body....

His blood splattered as his legs and hands pulled off from his body....

Some of the people in the crowd look away, some started walking away, while the ones enjoying the show kept watching as the seed of fear began to grow in them...

"This is what happens to anyone who dared defy ogini.. "The dark priestess said..

Ariya just stood numb.., she just let the tears to flow freely.., she was devastated .., in a day, she lost her husband and her son.., there was nothing to live for again...

"Bring her here... "The dark priestess ordered

Ariya didn't resist, didn't struggle when the guards grab her hand, she was like a statue.., a walking dead.., her brains had completely shut down...,but unfortunately, the dark priestess doesn't care...

"Hold her.. "She said as she took out a small cup that was placed on the evil image of ogini.., slowly, she slit Ariya's throat open and let her blood flow into the cup..

When she was done, she nodded and the guards let go of Ariya's body allowing it to collaspe on the floor....

With an evil smile, the dark priestess took a swig of the blood, then she gave it to a guard..
"Give it to the king.. "

"Yes priestess.. "The guard said as he quickly rushed to where the queen was..

With a feeling of disdain, Lord Chaka stare at the blood, then at the priestess, wondering what nonsense she was doing...

"Drink it.. "The dark priestess ordered..."Only when you drink it, will this kingdom be cleanse from the evil that has fallen on it... "

Unwillingly, he drank it, he quickly drop the cup at the taste of it...

"All hail ogini... "The dark priestess shouted..

"All hail ogini.. "The crowd echoed

Breathing heavily, adrenaline sinking in, starved for breathe.., Aluziya stopped and hold a tree for support.., she look around the bush trying to catch her breathe.., just then she saw the guards again, just when she was about to run again, she hit her leg on a log of wood and stumbled on the floor..

Fear, trepidation engulfed her as the guards ran to where she was.., she thought all was over.., she wasn't able to escape but to her utmost surprise, despite been there with her, they looked like they were searching for her...

"I thought she was here.. "One of the guards said... "Where did she go..?

Just then, her doubt was confirm.., they weren't seeing her despite been there with her.., what sort of a thing is this.., is she invisible...?

"Let's go forward and check.. "One of the guards suggested..

Without hesitation, they all left that spot..

Still in her shocked state, she stood up and staggered more into the bush...."No grandfather, no father, no mother, no brother..., she's all alone.. All alone... ,Was it her fate to suffer such a terrible lost in one day...?

LUDIBA GLANCES UPWARD, HIS MOUTH PURSED BUT SLIGHTLY OPEN AND LOOSE. HIS EYES ARE FIXED AS IF HE WAS LOOKING AT SOMETHING A YARD AWAY...
He insufflate when his father's authoritative voice screamed in his head.., he had told his father he was going to get the book from where he hid it, but now he was in a much dilemma, he wasn't sure if he should deliver the book to him or not..

He remember Aluziya's words, the book could save more lives, what if his grandfather was right.., What if the book was found to redeem the people of Zulugua and ushered in a new order.. A new world as his grandfather claimed to have foreseen..

He sigh as he stare at the book in his hand.. ,he scowled his eyes on every inch of the book..
The questions he had been asking himself came running back into his head.., where had the book come from.., why did he find it.., he believes there is a connection.., he believes he didn't find the book.., the book found him...

He stare at the cloud.., the bright blue sky shining it's sunlight Into the earth..., he fixated his eyes on the sky as if the solution to his dilemma was there...

He lour down his head and stare at the book again, he flip open the pages wondering what was written on it.., he hasn't gotten the chance to ask his grandfather if he knows what was written on the book....

Frustrated, he close the bible... "What will i do..? He ask himself totally confused...

Silence was the order of the moment in Ugoloko's house.. ,all sat waiting patiently for Ludiba's return..
Ugoloko stood up from where he was sitting and began pacing about.., he was unrest.., his mind was busy summoning up consequences that might follow his son's actions..

"My son, why are you worried over nothing... "Azodukala said... "Have you bother looking to the side the wind is blowing..?

Ugoloko clenched his fist.., anger slowing overwhelming him, he spun round to face his father...

"No matter how time passes.., the sun will always rise.., That the sun will not rise tomorrow is no less intelligible a proposition, and implies no more contradiction, than the affirmation, that it will rise...."

"Father... "Ugoloko rotted out..."I don't have time for your talks now.. "

Azodukala chulkled... "My son, do you know the good thing about the sun..?,When sun shines, it not only brightens our day; it enlightens us, our soul, cleansing it of the gloominess that the night's darkness had brought in..."

"The night hasn't brought darkness to us.. "Ariya cut in.. "But this act of Ludiba, the boy who you are keenly supporting will certainly bring the thickest darkness to us which will eventually destroy all of us.. "

"Even Chamutora the great warrior in the story our ancestors told also suffered tribulation in his course of uniting Zadula and Kurara...,but.. At the end he succeeded in achieving his goal.. "

"And that cost him his life. "Ariya retorted..

Azodukala snort.. "I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle .."

"And what are you trying to imply by this words of yours father.. ?

"It's simple my son..., did you know that the moment I realized that right thinking is vital to victorious living, I got more serious about thinking about what I was thinking about, and choosing my thoughts carefully....,When life is victorious, there is birth; when it is thwarted, there is death. A warrior is always engaged in a life-and-death struggle for Peace...,similarly in this situation, it enrages a battle between good and evil... "

"The only evil thing here is that book.. "Ariya said, voice etched with anger...

"Life becomes merrier when good is seem as what it is and evil as evil....,but there will be trouble when good is considered evil and evil good.. "

"No-one is considering anything... "Ariya countered... "We are seeing that evil thing for what it is... "

"Of course Ariya.., even Chamutora was then seem as an evil person.., people say he defiled the gods and did all sorts of abominable things.., but in the end.., he accomplished what he set out to do...

"Father... "Ugoloko interjects... "Are you suggesting we support Ludiba in carrying that book around...?

"Whatever you do is totally up to you my son..., i believe you don't need to be counselled on doing what's right and what's wrong..., like my father, your grandfather use to tell me.., change is a basic necessity that no-one is willing to accept... "

"Well said father-in-law... "Ariya said... "You know i always thought you were one of the wisest man i have ever seem, but.. "She twiched her jaw muscles... "But a wise man will see the destruction that comes with this change.. "

"For the sun to rise, the moon has to give way my dear Ariya...."Azodukala countered... "And for the light to come, darkness has to hide it's face.., likewise this situation.., i have seen the light, it's time the people of Zulugua and all the other villages sway away from darkness.. "

"Don't you think this revolution of yours carries more weight than you can lift, father...?

Azodukala scoff... "I know am old and weak, but that doesn't mean i will continue to dwell in darkness when i have seen the light... "

"And you think the book Ludiba found is the light...? Ariya ask... "And ogini, who you and your ancestors have served for years is the darkness.. "

"My dear Ariya.., have you ever been in a situation where you feel trapped.., and after so many attempts to escape proves fruitless.., you give up and assume there is no light at the end of the tunnel.. "

Ariya grunts but didn't reply..

"This situation can be attributed to the people of this land.., they are trapped.., they are tired but non has found a way of escape because they assume there is no way out.., their assumptions became their beliefs and they took it as a part of life... "

"Even if ogini is a dark gof father, this is treason.. "Ugoloko said

"I know my son..., it is treason that demands a death sentence.. "

"If you know that..."Ariya interjects.. "Then why are you supporting this..?

Azodukala sigh, before he could answer.., a knock sounded on the door...

They all shift their gaze to the door..

"Could Ludiba be back..? Aluziya ask.., a bit shaken by the fact that, her parents are advocating the destruction of such a book...

"Ariya.. "A woman's shaking voice sounded from outside

"Benicee.. "Ariya muttered when she recognized the voice..

There was a slight pause, then a thunderous command came up..
"Kick the door open... "

Ariya and Aluziya nearly collaspe to their feet when they heard footsteps approaching after the command..
Just then, the door burst open...

Aluziya's heart skipped when she saw men dressed in guards attire with swords in their hands...

"What is the meaning of this...? Ugoloko hollered greatly infuriated

Aluziya quickly cling to her mother's side when another guard.., probably their commander walked into the hut..., he rolled his eyes at all of them as if he was searching for something...
"Where is the boy...?

Ariya's heart raced at tremendous speed, just then she realise her fears has come to pass..

"I ask, where is the boy...? The guard shouted angrily..

"There is no boy here...? Ugoloko protested..

The guard rolled his eyes at him, then at the rest of the guards... "Get all of them... "

The other guards standing quickly seize the three of them..

"What have we done.. "Ariya cried out as they were dragged into a cage...

"Bring the abominable ones forward.. "Lord Chaka ordered

Aluziya tears rolled profusely down her cheek as the guards pushed them forward...

With furious eyes, Ugoloko stare at the king..,then he thought of Ludiba, he wonder where he was, he knew for a fact that things won't end well for them and he prays they never see Ludiba....

"What have we done your highness... ?Ugoloko asked, a bit scared..

Lord Chaka chulkled... "Are you that stupid that you don't know the abominable thing you and your pitiful family has committed.. "

"We have committed no crime to be brought here.. "Ugoloko countered

"Bring the old man forward... "Lord Chaka ordered

A guard quickly pushed Azodukala forward...

Lord Chaka stare at him, he wonder who healed him if truly he was afflicted by ogini.., all his years as a king, he was meant to believe no-one can undo ogini's hold on someone but this man has been freed.., he is very keen to find out the possibility of it...

"Do you know the consequences of the crime you've committed..? Lord Chaka asked

Azodukala scoffs... "I do not know what i have done Lord Chaka... "

"It was brought to my hearing that you were once afflicted with a serious illness because you disobeyed the orders of ogini.., but seeing you now, one can barely believe you were ever sick.... "

"Surprising, isn't it..? Azodukala said with a smile curved around his cheeks... "How possible is it that a man who was under the chains of ogini is now free..?

"Are you asking me questions old man...?

"No, not at all.., am just bringing to light the contents of your thought.. "

"I heard a strange book healed you.., where is the book and where is the boy who found it..?

"Lord Chaka.."Azodukala said.. "Whoever gave you that information about a strange book healing me is totally correct.., indeed, a strange book healed me, but....

His words were cut short by the annocement of the dark priestess entering...

With a pulsating heart, Ugoloko and Ariya turn back to face her..

Her dark eyes sent shivers all over Ariya., just then she knew, they are doomed...

They quickly shift their gaze from her as she walk closer to them...

The dark priestess stopped walking when she got to where Azodukala was standing.., she quickly turn to face him and their eyes met.....

Azodukala could hear the pounding of his heart, he knew he shouldn't be scared, shouldn't be afraid at this crucial moment but there was something about her eyes, something evil.., dark.., it sents terror to anyone it faces.. No wonder, she's called the dark priestess...

"The one with the book must be found... "The dark priestess said.. "His blood will be used to appease ogini... "

Her words sent fright to Father, mother and daughter...

"What about them..? Lord Chaka asked

"They will be kill as well...,beheaded alongside the one with the book.. "

"Are you just going to kill us without hearing the story..? Azodukala asked

"Your story is irrelevant... "The dark priestess retorted... "You've all be marked for death and death you shall all receive..., at sunrise tomorrow, their blood will be given to ogini, their bodies will be thrown to the vultures to feed on, their deaths will serve as a lesson to anyone who dares defy ogini....."

AJACUA SMILED TO HIMSELF WHEN HE REMEMBERED THAT MOMENT.., that moment his father was cured of his illness.., he can't still believe it...,his father who had been sick for days, his father who the other healers has condemned to death with the assumptions that there was nothing else to be done...

He quickly recall when they went to Ludiba's house.., even though Ludiba had told him the book cured his grandfather, he was still shocked when he saw him.., a man who the gods had condemned to death was renewed by a strange book....

He sigh when he thought about the book, he wonder where it came from..., he remenbers Ludiba had told him he found it in the ground.., such a book with such incredible powers had been lying somewhere..., sometimes he thinks the book was found at the right time.. For his father..

He lick his lips and look up at the sky.., Ludiba was supposed to meet him where he was sitting.. ,at their usual spot.., he wonder what was delaying him..

He quickly remembered Ludiba's parent reaction when they told them that the book healed his father.., they were shocked, like they warned Ludiba against it or...
He startle and quickly jump up when he felt a touch on his shoulder..

He breathe heavily as he realise it was his friend..
"You... "He exhales.. "Startled me.. "

"Yeah..."His friend Oka said... "Your heart almost jumped out.. "

Ajacua insufflate and swallowed hard..

Ajacua sigh, he hate lying, especially to people he cares about.. "Oka.., you must promise me you won't tell anyone..."

"What am about to tell you.. "

"I promise, i won't tell anyone.."

Ajacua took a deep breathe... "There is this book Ludiba found.., he used it to heal his grandfather of his disease.. "

"What..!Oka exclaimed with open mouth... "You're lying right..?

"Why would i be lying about something so important..., the book healed his grandfather and it healed my father .."

For a moment, Oka just fixated his gaze on him...

"You don't believe me, do you..? Ajacua asked

Oka shook his head..

"I know how it sounds, but it's the truth.."

"So you saying..., a book..,healed Ludiba's grandfather and healed your father.. "

"Yes.., my father calls it the magic book... "

"Oh..!

Ludiba breathed in and out but air wouldn't enter his lungs. Starved for air, his heart raced at tremendous speeds, and his lungs shallowly rose and fell in time. He stood there staring at them for what felt like an eternity but was actually only five minutes. Satisfaction of security was nothing but a distant memory , and an invisible force crushed him from every possible direction. Each second submerged in fear made a permanent mark on his heart, and a vivid imagination made him wonder what was running in his father's mind...

"Ludiba... "

His father's thunderous voice sent him back to his senses making him tremble the more..

"Where is the book Ludiba.. "Ariya hauled out..

Ludiba couldn't talk, couldn't move, he just stood, his heartbeat sounding like a gun in his ears...

"Let the boy be Ugoloko.. "Azodukala interjects..

"Father please, stay out of this... "

"Where is the book Ludiba..? Ariya hollered

A drop of tear crawl down from Aluziya's eyes.., she imagined what Ludiba might be feeling ...,she had to tell her parent the truth, the truth was already out, there was no point lying...

Infuriated with Ludiba's silence.., Ugoloko trot towards him and held his arm..

Ludiba heart almost crushed into pieces when he stared into his father's angry eyes, just then, he knew he was in so much trouble than he anticipated.., he isn't getting out from this..., it's either the book or.....

"Are you crazy...? Ugoloko snarled... "How could you do such a foolish thing.., how could you take that evil book to Akarugwo house..., have you gone mad..?

"You should be proud of him Ugoloko... "Azodukala cut in standing up.. "Your son did what no-one would have done.., he healed that man's life despite knowing the risks...

"Father..., father father father.... "Ugoloko growled.... "Please father, not another word, else i will lose every ounce of respect i have for you.., do you understand me...?

Shock swept through Aluziya, she had never seen her father speak in that manner to her grandfather....

Deeply engulfed with rage, Ugoloko spun round to face Ludiba once again.... "Am going to ask you this for the last time..., where have you hidden the book...?

Ojala, Oka's father, laugh hysterically at his wife funny statement....
"Who would have thought you can dance like that..? Ojala ask still laughing...

"I don't like this.., why do you continue to laugh at me....?Ocheri, his wife and Oka's mother said

"Am not laughing... "He said with clenched teeth... "Am just surprise..., i mean i have never seen you dance like that.. ,I've never even seen you dance at all.. "

"That is a lie and you know it.. "Ocheri protested..

Just then, Oka rushed into the hut...

"What's pursuing you Oka..? Ojala ask taking a peep outside...

"Father, you won't believe it.. "Oka said with pants breathe...

"Believe what my son...?

"Ludiba's grandfather has been cured of his illness... "

"That's not possible my son.., ogini struck him with that illness, no-one but ogini can reverse it.. "Ojala said

"That isn't all father...,Ajacua's father is also well now.. "

"But how..? Ocheri ask... "I thought he was terribly ill.. "

"Yes mother.., many even thought he'll die.., but miraculously, he's well again and working in his farm.."

"A man who couldn't stand up from his bed now works in a farm.., how is this possible...? Ojala ask

"Ajacua said Ludiba found a book, a strange book.., it healed his grandfather and Ajacua's father.. "

"A book... "

"The rumours are true then... "Ocheri said... "Someone has escaped ogini's wrath.., and that someone is Azodukala... "

"My son.... "Ojala said softly... "You must never tell anyone what you just told us, do you understand...?

"Yes father... "

Lord Chaka felt a bit relieved as the clothes were pulled away from his body by the guard...

"Get me some dry clothes... "He ordered..

Lord Chaka flexed his muscles as he trot towards his bed..

Lord Chaka quickly shift his gaze to where the voice came from.., it was his second wife, Anesia.....

Anesia beem a broad smile on her face as she walk towards him....
"Surely, your back needs some massage after so many hours of training.. "Anesia said with pout lips

Lord Chaka scoff... "Indeed my dear queen, but am not just in the mood for a massage from you.. "

"Do you prefer Dama do it in my place...? Anesia ask

"Dama... "The sound of her name curve a smile on his face...

"You seem to love her more than the rest of us.., just the way you loved me more than Quyoh, your first wife.,when you married me.. "

"Your majesty... "A guard called out from the door..

"What is it..? Lord Chaka ask

"A man is here.., he's seeking your presence... "

"What does he want...?

"He says he has information on who we are searching for.. "

Ojala stood up to his feet, he bow down again and finally had the courage of facing the king.., he remember his son's words.., he knew for a fact that if his son was right, they will be rich.., so he did a little investigation, and his son's words turned out to be true...

"You said you have information on who we are searching for... ?

Ojala smiled to himself..., the king had promised to reward anyone who finds the person.., with such a huge reward from the king.. Their lives will change.... "I do not have any information my king.., as a matter of fact, i know who the person is..., i know who has been freed from ogini's chains and i know what freed him and who brought what freed him..... "

"Go on... "Lord Chaka said anxious to know who the fool is......

AZODUKALA LET OUT A BURNING BALL OF AIR THAT WAS SEARING THE WALLS OF HIS LUNGS,
His breath seemed to stutter in his lungs before he let it go, feeling the tension drain from his body.

"Water grandfather.. "Aluziya said dropping a cup of water in his front..

A sly smile made way to Azodukala's lips as he eyes stare wildly at his grand daughter...

"Thank you Alu.. "He said with contented lips..
He took the cup of water to his mouth and gulp it down..

He inhale softly as he drop the cup..

"Are you okay now, ..? Aluziya ask picking up the cup inclined to bring another cup of water.., she knew for a fact that her grandfather was a man who loves drinking water, all her life, she has never seen anyone who loves water so much..., there was a time she was determined to count the number of times her grandfather drinks water in a day but the job was quite exhausting...

With a wry smile, Azodukala nodded to her question...

Aluziya sigh, before now, she has thought of telling their grandfather the truth, the truth about the book and why they lied..

She felt really bad when they lied to their parents that they burnt the book.., her grandfather has always told her never to lie, that in any situation she finds her herself, she should always say the truth, the truth always prevail.., she wonder if the truth would have prevailed over their parents judgement about the book.

"You look worried my dear.. "

She stuttered and quickly jolt out from her thoughts.. "No grandfather, am fine.. "She said with clenched teeth...

She wonder if she was really fine, the thought that her parents might find out the truth about the book and realise they lied to them really worried her..

"Did Ludiba really destroyed the book...?

She froze as Azodukala question drove deeply into her ears.., she wonder the reply she was going to give him, her parent had warned the book shouldn't be discussed in the house but this was her grandfather, a man who had always supported her....

"Alu.. "

She swallowed, her feet began to tremble...

"He didn't.., did he..?

She swallowed wondering if her grandfather can see the truth through her eyes.., as much as she doesn't want to lie, she had promised Ludiba that she wouldn't tell anyone about the book...

"No grandfather.. "She flutter her eyes as the words got stuck in her throat, just then she realise she was in the process of spilling the bean..,the disastrous bean.. "I mean... "She took a pause, bit her lip..."He destroyed it.. "

Azodukala lour his jaw down... "The book would have brought great things to us.. "

"Yes grandfather... "She boom out, voice hitched.... "And i think the book is doing that.., just imagine, father's missing cattles came back.., the person owing him paid up his debts.., mother sold all her market items yesterday.., indeed grandfather.., that book has brought this blessings to us.. "

Azodukala smile at his grand daughter's propitious agitation...

"But grandfather.., how did you know the book will bring all this to us...?

Azodukala scoff., he was about to speak up when the door suddenly open...

Ariya quickly rushed in breathing heavily.., signs of worry bleak on her face..

"Mother.. "Aluziya muttered as she trot towards her..

"Where is your father..? She ask with pants breathe

"Father.., heee...

"What is the matter Ariya..? Azodukala ask

"What we fear is about to happen.. "Ariya said with uneasiness

"What we fear.."Aluziya resounded

"The town criers just made an announcement ...."She said with fright pinching her skin... "They are hunting for anyone who was afflicted but now healed.. "

Consternation swept Aluziya off her feet.., her mother's revelation sent her heart beating fast.., and for the first time, she was scared...

"I don't understand.., why would they be searching for such people...? Azodukala ask..

Fear stricken.., Ariya took a few steps from the door.. "I don't know... "

The door creaked open again making Ariya's heart bounce out from her chest..., she sigh, a sigh of relief when she realise it was her husband...

"Have you heard..? She ask quickly.."did you hear the announcement... ?

"Yes.., That is why i rushed home from the farm... "Ugoloko replied with tightened teeth.., he quickly walk up to his father... "Father, you need to leave Zulugua .. "

"I don't understand..., why..

"Someone told me the king made the announcement because someone has been freed from ogini's chains.. "

Ariya widen her eyes in shock.. "The dark priestess knows.. "

"And many people knows grandfather was struck with a disease by ogini... "

"But father, no-one knows father has been healed.... "

"People has been asking questions Aluziya..., they've been asking if he's dead.., and why we aren't allowing people to come into the house.. "

"No but Alu.. "

"Let the girl be my son.. "Azodukala cut in..

"Father, you need to leave.. "

Azodukala chulkled... "Am too old to be running from crises my son.. "

"Father, this isn't crises, this is about your life, i know the dark priestess very well, she won't spare you.. "

"It's no-one's fate to die a shameful dead father-in-law.. "Ariya interjects... "Please, i beg you.., leave Zulugua.. "

Azodukala smile... "You will always be my loving son Ugoloko, a son i will always be proud of.., but what i see in the future is far more greater than this mortal body of mine.., a day is coming, where ogini will be no more.., it will be the end of bloodshed.., sacrifice of humans...

"Stop"Ariya shouted.. "You're been blasphemous..,don't let any other person hear you say that.. "

"But it's the truth my dear daughter.. "Azodukala countered... "A day is coming, where a God, a God more bigger and greater,more powerful will rule over this lands.. "

"And you think this imaginary God of yours will defeat ogini... ?Ugoloko ask doubtfully

"What is to happen my son, will surely happen.. "

Ugoloko grunts, he was sick and tired of his father's stubbornness..., he was about to speak up when a knock came on the door ..

With a pulsating heart, Ariya fuses her eyes on the door ...."Who is there..? She ask, fright etched on her tongue...

"It is i, Akarugwo.. "

Shock swept through them as they heard the voice...

"Akarugwo"Ariya muttered... "I thought he was sick.. "

"How was he able to stand up from his sick bed ...?Ugoloko ask curiously

"What do you want...? Ariya ask when the knock came again..

"Please Ariya.., open the door.., am standing outside with my son with gifts of appreciation.. "

"What gifts of appreciation..? Ariya ask Ugoloko silently..

Ugoloko shrugs.. "I don't know.. "

"We didn't do anything, why are you appreciating us...? Ariya ask

For a moment, there was a slight pause, then Akarugwo voice came up again... "It is not proper to keep an elder outside, especially one who has come to show his appreciation.. "

"He's right Ariya... "Azodukala said.. "It's not proper to keep an elderly man outside.., let him come in, lets hear what he have to say... "

"Come in..! "Ugoloko sneered... "Father, he'll see you.. "

"Then so be it my son..., i can't continue hiding from the world.. "

"But father, this is not the right time... "

"Everytime is the right time for the right thing... "He countered.. "Alu.., please open the door..."

"Yes grandfather.. "Aluziya said shabbily.., with a huff, she began to trot towards the door avoiding her mother's gaze, she knew very well what her mother's eyes were saying.., it was a warning not to open the door....

"Father, please, let's not do this now.. "Ugoloko pleaded..

"My son.., please respect this wish of mine.. "

Gently.., Aluziya pushed the door open.., she was even more shock when she saw Ajacua father standing in their door front.., Just then, her father's question came ringing in her head... "How did he get out from his sick bed..?

"Greetings sir.. "Aluziya said with a smile..

"Greetings my dear daughter.. "Akarugwo said

Still in her surprise state, she pave the way for him to go in.., she saw the shock in his and Ajacua face when they saw Azodukala..

"May the gods be praised... "Akarugwo hurled out, his eyes staring widely at Azodukala..

"Indeed, may the gods be praised.. "Azodukala said

Shocked.., Ajacua dropped the food items he was holding on the floor..

"How did this happen..? Akarugwo ask trotting towards him..

"I too don't know, but i believe..

"Akarugwo... "Ugoloko cut in before Azodukala could finish.., he was scared his father will say something, something blasphemous... "I too heard you were sick.., when did you get better..?

"Oh..! Akarugwo exclaimed turning to face him.. "All thanks to your son Ludiba.., he's the reason am standing here..

"My son..? Ugoloko muffled in prostration... "What did my son do that could have possibly led to your recovery.. "

"He healed me with a book.., my son and i calls it the magic book... "

What...? Ariya and Ugoloko hollered....

"Ludiba... "Ugoloko muttered with anger..."How dare you lie to me.. "

"Is everything okay..? Akarugwo ask

"Please.., it's more better you leave now.. "Ariya said...

"But..

"There is no but.., we have some family issue to deal with... "

Akarugwo sigh, then he shook his head in disappointment... "Fine i will leave, but first accept this gifts from me.., it's a gift of appreciation for what your son did for me.. "

Ariya nodded, not in agreement but because she needed him to be fast in his departure...

"I will like to hear the story behind your recovery Azo.. "

Azodukala nodded..

Father and son thanked them...,without hesitation, they left the house...

"Alu..., Did you know about this..? Ugoloko ask with folded fist..

Fear paralyze Aluziya.., she couldn't talk, couldn't move, what she feared has happen..., how fast the truth was revealed...

ARIYA RAN HER HAND THROUGH HER HAIR, TEETH TUGGING AT HER CRACKING LOWER LIP.. The fear thoughts looped around in her mind until there was no room for anything else...,she was scared, scared to dead about what the consequences of her son's action might be...

As the daylight dwindled, the tension in the Skye grew..,she wonder where Ludiba had ran to, who he had showed the book and what he was doing with it....

"Ariya.. "Azodukala called with a hoarse dry voice..

Ariya sniff and spun round to face him..

"You need not to be worried my daughter "Said Azodukala

"This is not me been worried father-in-law, this is me been realistic of the calamity that will befall us.. "

"What calamity my daughter..? Azodukala queried..... "It's should be a thing of joy that i was once afflicted but lo, i am well again.. "

"That's it.. "Ariya sneered.. "That's just the problem, because you are healed you are so blind that you can't see what's in front of you..,you can't see the consequences that comes with your wholeness ... "

"I know very well what you're talking about Ariya.. "

"Then why are you supporting this, why are you against the destruction of the book.., that evil book.. "

"Because change my dear, is the only constant thing.., i have foreseen this day, a day where people will no longer live in fear of ogini.. "

"Ogini is our god.. "Ariya protested.. "And at such, she needs to be feared..,and do you know what i have seen.. I havd seen the destruction that will come with this book.. "

"Surely my dear.. "Azodukala interjects vehemently.. "Destruction will come, but that will be the start of a new dawn, a new era, a new world, a world where..

"I forbid this destruction from starting with us.. "Ariya cut in, voice clipped, tension rising...

She spun round to face the door when it creaked, then it slowly began to open..

Ariya sigh, a sigh of relief when she realise it was her husband who had opened the door.., she should have locked it, she knew they have to be careful.. She feared things won't go well when people finds out that Azodukala has been healed.., the news will spread and she feared the dark priestess will hear of it if she hasn't already...

"I couldn't find him.. "Ugoloko said closing the door, voice spiked with disappointment..

Ariya curl her lips, she wonder where both her children had gone to, when they became so disobedient....,it was obvious, the book has done more harm to her family than she anticipated...

"Did you check Ashobi's house..? Ariya ask jolting out from her thoughts.. "Sometimes he goes there to play with Ara.. "

"That was the first place i checked... "Ugoloko replied irritated.. "That stupid son of yours is no where to be found... "

Ariya bit her lips in frustration..

"Just let the children be.. "Azodukala said..

With furrowed brows, Ariya shift her angry eyes at him...

"Only the gods know why Ludiba did what he did, the gods...

"What gods are you talking about..? Ariya cut in harshly... "ogini is the only god in Zulugua and the other cities.. "

"You seem to forget Hakundad... "

Ariya grind her teeth and turn away her face from him..
Just then, a light knock came on the door, both husband and wife glance at each other..

"Who is there..? Ariya ask, fear slowing creeping into her..

"It is i, Alu mother.. "

"Alu.. "Ariya muttered with a sigh..

She quickly walk towards the door and push it open.. "Have you seen...
She saw Ludiba behind her before she could finish her question..

Without hesitation, she dragged him inside...

Ludiba stood still, shaken to dead by his father's stare...

"Where is the book..? Ugoloko queried..

With fear swimming deep in him, Ludiba lour his head..

"Where is it Ludiba, where is the book..? Ariya ask with worried eyes..

"Mother, he... "Aluziya tried to defend..

"He what..? Ugoloko hollered..

"I destroyed it.. "Ludiba finally spoke up

Ariya took a heavy breathe...

"Are you lying to us..? Ugoloko ask walking close to him.

Ludiba froze.., he knew for a fact, his father didn't believe that... "Am not lying father, i destroyed it.. "

"He's telling the truth.. "Aluziya cut in...

She swallowed when they shift their gaze to her.., for a moment, her next words stuck in her throat...., she sigh.. "I was there, i tried to stop him, he didn't listen.., he burned it..."her gaze met with them as if they were waiting for her next words.. "Down to ashes.. "She added

Ariya sigh, a sigh of relief..."Thank you son, you've saved us all.. "

"For your sake and ours.. "Ugoloko said.. "I hope you're telling the truth.. "

"Our problems aren't finished yet.."Ariya said looking at Azodukala.... "What do we tell people when they ask how he was healed..?

As if the bird was observing if there were traps laid in wait.., it flew in one circle..

A stone throw away was sitted Ludiba staring gormlessly at the bird.., he imagined what the lives of birds was like.., he wondered if the young birds ever feel compelled to do something against their wish by the oldest ones.., or if they ever get trapped in a situation that has no tunnel to escape from..

He pick up a stone but before he could throw it, the bird flew high into the branches of one of the tall trees..

He scoff wondering how the bird knew she was a target of his stone.., he admire them, they are sensitive to danger and at such knows the right measures to take when danger poke it's ugly head out..

With consternation overwhelming him, he threw the stone, the stone landed on the floor a few pace away from him..

He stare at the sky, slowly, darkness was waking, getting ready to devour the sunlight..., he imagined how the world will look like if there was only sunlight..

He chuckle when he remember the stories they were told when they were little.., the stories of how the sunlight and darkness came into existence...

His mind brood over the old days, where they use to sit under the Agaruku tree, one of the tall tree in his village before the lord in the capital joint his village with Zulugua.., the name of his village was lost, and from that day it became part of the zulugua city...

Back then, he hated the lord for doing what he did.., their village was a peaceful one until the lord came.....
He remenbered the story of how those who were against the idea were killed.., the lord was ruthless and till this day, he hated him for that.., for tearing their kingdom apart...

He sniff and began to drool his hand on the floor, in search of anything, anything that can give him peace.., just then, the story crossed his mind again..

He sat up and began to mimic the village story teller's voice...

He knew for a fact, that no matter how old he gets, he can never forget the story of how the daylight and darkness came into existence.., children sang songs with it.., the great hunter, Ashokara and the brave warrior, Afuaura, leader of the basua army.., the bringers of the moon and the sun....

He shook with fear when he felt a touch on his left shoulder...,fear stricken, he jumped up..

"Hey relax, it's me.. "His friend, Ajacua said

Ludiba took a deep drag... "Don't do that again, please.. "

"What.., are you scared of something..? Ajacua said..

"No.., not that.., i just... "

"You must have been thinking hard about something... "Ajacua suck his teeth.. "Just the way i have been doing all day.. "

"What do you mean just the way you've been all day..?

Ajacua sniff, he wipe his eyes to stop any tear from falling... "It's my father...,his sickness has gotten worse.., the healer said there is nothing he can do anymore..., my father is going to die Ludiba... "He added with flaring nose..

"No, don't say that.., your father will live.. "

Ajacua sniff and a tear dropped down from his eyes followed by silent sobs... "My father is going to die.., am going to be all alone.. "

"No Ajacua.. "Ludiba muttered..., he look away, he quickly remembered what happened to his grandfather.., slowly, he began to imagine the worst.., his father and mother's warning came ringing in his ears...

He shift his gaze back to his weeping friend.., hs pitied him, felt his pain.., his mother left him at childbirth..., his grandmother died a few days ago.., now his father.., his only surviving parent is at death's gate.....

"I can't live alone Ludiba..., i will die if my father dies.. "Ajacua said sobbing heavily...

"Ajacua.. "Ludiba called out holding his shoulders.. "What if i tell you, there is something that can heal your father...?

"Ugoloko... "One of the farmers called out... "Indeed the gods has smiled on you..., your lost sheeps has returned.. "

Ugoloko couldn't express his joy.., he was depressed the day he got the news that his sheeps and cattles has ran away from the fields.., but now, here they are, they returned on their own.., indeed the gods has smile on him.., he has been favoured....

"Father... "

He quickly turn around when he heard Aluziya's voice...
"Alu.. "He said walking to meet up with her...

"Good news father... "Aliziya shouted jumping up...

"Good news.., what good news is this Aluziya?

"Do you remenber the yalo merchant that has been owing you..?

"Yes.. "

"He has paid father..."

"What..!

"He even tripled the amount father..."

"The gods been praised.. "Ugoloko shouted with joy.., he look at his cattles, then at Aluziya.., there was no explanation for what was going on.., his lost cattles has been restored.., a man owing him, a man who had sworn will never pay him back has paid without him going to knock him out.., and he paid in triple folds..., could this be the work of the gods or something else..?

With pulsating heart, Ludiba followed his friend into the hut..
He immediately felt pity for his friend's father when he saw him lying helplessly on the brown leaves on the floor...

Slowly, he brought out the book.., he wasn't sure if it will work but he hope it does...

"Are you sure that thing can heal my father...? Ajacua ask curiously

"I don't know.., but i hope it does.., you can't lose your father.."

With a little courage, he trot towards the dying man, he placed the book on the dying man's chest..., he waited, fingers shaking, adrenaline sucking through him.., legs trembling...

"It's not working... "He muttered...

He removed it and place it back again muttering words in his heart that whatever magic that is in it.., let it heal his friend father...

He was almost at the verge of giving up....,just then, the dying man cough.., and opened his eyes..

Shocked.., he removed the book from his chest..

"Father... "Ajacua shouted and rushes to his side..

Amaze at the wonders of the book.., Ludiba stood motionless staring at it..

"It worked Ludiba.., my father is well.... "Ajacua said excitedly..... "A book worked where medicines couldn't .., a book brought my father back to me., something the healers couldn't do"

Ajacua quickly knelt down... "From today onward, this book is my god.., i shall worship it till the day of my death.. "

Lost in thoughts, Ludiba paid no attention to Ajacua words.., he just stood staring at the book.... "Where did you come from.. ?He muttered silently to himself...
