CONSTERNATION..... PROSTRATION.... STUPEFACTION all swept through Danasiri as the words drop from Katherine's mouth....
"What did you say.....? She reteirate.....

Katherine sigh.... The blindfold tightly pressing her eyes.... She exhales in the darkness of the blindfold...... "Take me as the sacrifice for Francis's safe return home..... "

"Do you know what you are talking about.....? She ask shapily..... "The sacrifice means you will die.....

"I know...... "She cut in.... She grind her teeth..... "Please just take me.... "

"Does your father know about this.......?

"No one knows and i believe you won't tell them until all this is over....

"Princess you....

"It's my decision priestess...... "She boom out..... "It's my life.. I choose to be offer as the sacrifice...... "

Danasiri insutilate wondering why she will take such a drastic decision.... Who is she to say no to her request... It's her choice.... "Fair enough then... Let's begin...... "

She blink in the darkness.... "Promise me you will get Francis to leave after the sacrifice ...he wouldn't go if he knew i offered myself as the sacrifice so he could go home..... "She said more quiet... Tears gathering on her eyes pricking the blindfold.......

"You don't need to worry about that... As soon as you've been sacrificed... The spirits of the entrance to his world will take him away... Even against his will..... He won't know who the sacrifice was... "

She sniff.... Their earliest moment flooding her head again... His soft touch against her chin..his hands on her waist pulling her closer... His mouth on hers....

"There is something you must do for the sacrifice to be complete...... "Danasiri said interrupting her thoughts.....

She swallowed hard.. Wondering what it is... "What could that be.....?

"Remove the blindfold..... "

She quivered..... Her spines shivering in all corners.... "But i....

She sigh.. A sigh if relief... Slowly with fear licking through her, she pulled away the blindfold......she blink.. First her sight was blur... Hazy then it became clearer....
She shuddered when she saw Danasiri.. Her cold eyes..... The place.. The scary faces of ogini.....

She watch as Danasiri took a few step away from her....she pick up a dagger and muttered words into it... Then she walk back to her and handed the dagger to her....

With shaking hands she collected it wondering if she should kill herself with it....

"You will go to the bank of the ogini river...call Francis name three times.. And mutter prayers to the deity for his safe return.... Afterwards you will cut your hand... Your blood shall be the key to the door of his world.... With the blood gushing out from your flesh.... You will jump into the deep water..... Ogini will receive you... Your life shall mark his.... Granting him safe passage through....... As you fade away slowly.. So will his journey home.... The moment your breathe seize... He will be home.... "

Katherine swallowed hard.... Tears dropping from her eyes...... "Am ready.... "

"Then begin...... The ogini river is a few pace from here.... I on the other hand will make the necessary prayers..... Goodbye princess.... Your fight is over..... "

With those words Katherine step out of the shrine and began to head for the river......

Vuga frown when he couldn't find anything comfortable to wear.... He threw down all the clothes from the closet....
He exhales shapily scanning his eyes around for any clean clothes......

He turn his gaze to the door when it cranked open... He quickly hissed when he noticed who it was..... "If you are looking for my sister... She's not here.. She left a few minutes ago.... "he said not bothering to face him... The horrific moment of seeing him in bed with his sister creep its way into his head.... Sending anger all over him...

Francis nib and lean his arm on the door..... "On the contrary i came to see you..... "

Vuga scoffs..... "I guess to discuss how i caught you in bed with my sister.... Kissing.... "

"Am..... I'm sorry you had to see that.....

"Sorry.....! He suck his teeth....then he spun round to face him..... "Do you know what my father would have done to you if he'd been the one who walked into that room that moment...... "

Francis emit.... He remove his arm from the door and crouch them in his back.... "I guess it would have been disastrous...... "

"And punishable... Probably....

"My head on a pile.... "Francis cut in.. Then he huff... "I know that........... brother.... "

"Well brother you should know that is a punishable offence in this part of the world for a brother to do what you were doing with my sister.... It comes with a death penalty... A quick death especially when it comes to the king's only daughter....

"I get that...

"No you don't.... "Vuga boom out... Exasperation licking through him....."You don't get it... If you did.. You wouldn't have kissed my sister...

"we're in love Vuga...... "Francis interjects........ "Lovers do that.... "

"Well you better start falling out of love... Unlove her because the two of you are never going to be together...... There is no future for you both.. So my advice.. Make the sacrifice and go home..... "

Francis sigh..... Catching his breath..... "Well that's what i came to tell you..... I've decided to stay.... "

"Well welcome brother..... Another brotherly advice.. Stay away from our sister else..... "He drool his eyes on his body.... "You are going to lose one part of your body... Probably your............. "he pause when he saw Adesa standing behind Francis...."Eyes.... "he added faintly....

Shock by his sudden quietness.. Francis look aback...... "Adesa.... "

Vuga heart pounded as she walk in... Tense Expression etched on her face...... "What's........

"Have you seen the princess.....? She ask shapily....

"No..... "Vuga said with clenched teeth.... "i mean she was here earlier.. She hug me and that's was all... She left.... "

"She did the same to me.. She said she was going to miss me.. That i ve been such a wonderful friend.... "Adesa said accimilating what all that could possibly mean.....

"She did say she missed me too..... "Vuga added...

"What's going on Adesa......? Francis ask anxiously..... "Where is she.. Where is the princess.... ?

Mouth shivering.. Hands trembling.. Adesa figured it out..... "She sound like she was saying goodbye..... "

"Goodbye..... Where could she possibly be going again.....? Vuga boom out....

Adesa turn her gaze to Francis.. Then to Vuga..... "Oh no....!"..she muttered... Fear seizing her....

"W.. H.. At.. Is going on...? Francis ask with shaking mouth.....

"Why would the princess be saying goodbye.......? Vuga resounded.....

Mouth slack-jawed.... Adesa rolled her eyes at him...... She shudder at her thought....."She is going to sacrifice herself...... "She shivered then she faced Francis.... "For you..... "

"What..... "Vuga blared out shocked

Francis heart almost bursted out.. Without hesitation he ran out of the room....
Adesa and Vuga quickly followed......

"You did it... He signed it....... "Zuru said surprise in her voice....

"I knew he will...... "Pious said.....

"So what's next......? Zuru ask curiously...

Pious scoffs..... "I will wait till he comes banging on my door to give him his hotel back..... For now.... "He glance at his watch..... "Am going to see Carlos... "

"For the surprise........?Zuru ask

"That and more....... "

"I don't trust Carlos... Be careful around him..... "

Pious nodded... Then he walked out of the room.....

Heart pounding.... Legs shaking.. Francis ran as fast as his legs can carry him.... Adesa and Vuga behind him....
He couldn't think straight.... All he was wondering was her reason for that.. Why would she offer herself up......
He ignored Vuga calling him to wait up...

He continued running heading to the shrine.... He wouldn't be able to live if she kills herself.. For him.....
It wasn't long before he got to the shrine.... Vuga and Adesa a few pace away scared of catching gaze with Danasiri.....

He quickly entered inside... A cold tormenting wave swept through him.... His heart racing rapidly... He scan his eyes around to see her... But all he could see were the devilish images.... ...

He move farther... Into her tent.. Where she has knelt down when he came earlier.... He stare into the hole of water and it sent shivers to him.... The blackish bloody water startled him.. Making his heart pump faster than normal....... "Princess.... "He shouted.....

"She is not here..... "

He shook with great fear when the voice sounded from behind him.. Almost falling into the hole of water... Blood.. Whatever......

He stare straight into Danasiri's eyes.... "Where is she.....?

"On a quest to send you home.... "

"What have you done to her.....? He yelled.. Anger swimming in him... His whole body responding to it......

"I did nothing to her.... She has gone to ogini river bank to continue the ritual for the sacrifice...... "

Francis gave her one last hard look then he took a step to walk away.. He walk passed her...

"You cannot stop her now....... "

He spun round to face her..... "Why can't i stop her.... "

"She already held the sacred dagger... Stop her and someone else will take the fall"

"Someone else is going to die in her place......?He ask his mouth quivering....

"Exactly..... The ritual has already started... It can't be left halfway... It must be completed.... A soul must die for a soul to cross.... "

"I will take my chances........."With those last words... He left her there.....

Hands pulsating..... Heartrenting....she held the dagger firmly in her hands... For a moment... She just stood at the cliff staring at the black deep river... Fear licking through her... She move away abit.. A few gaze from the deep hole... She stare around,the image of ogini was in a tent.... She walked closer and offered prayers as Danasiri has instructed.....

Tears wrecking her face.... She stood up when she was done offering prayers.... Then she face the river again..... And called Francis name........

The first was swift.... Easy...... More tears rolled down down as she called him the second time..... Then the memory of everyone she will be leaving behind flood her head.... She couldn't control the tears.... She gave in to them.. Leaving them flow... Then she called his name the third time........ She insutilate.. Her hair waving by the effect of the faint wind...... She convinced herself she can do it... He saved her once.... It was her turn to save him....... Slowly she raise the dagger to her wrist... About to cut herself then she heard footsteps... Closer.... She quickly turned to face who was there....

Shock engulf her... Wondering how she knew she was here.. Doing this... With throbbing heart and flooded eyes she muttered...... "Barbara"

"What are you doing.....? Barbara boom out... Exasperation in her voice..... She took a step forward closing the distance between them....

"No you can't come any closer..... "Katherine said shapily...... "I must do this...... "

"I can't let you send him home...... "Barbara retorted...

"Ho..... w... Did you know that.......? She ask with quivering mouth....

"I have been following the two of you.... I know Francis wants to go home and a sacrifice must been made to make that possible...... I love him... I can't watch him go away..the thought of never seeing him again.... If you love him as you tell yourself.. You will do same... Let him stay.. Stop this madness..... "

"This isn't madness.... "She sneer... Tears escaping into her mouth..... "He saved me... "

"And now you want to offer the live he saved as a sacrifice.... Are you that selfish....?, Francis will never want this and you know that.... "

"I have made my decision.... You can't stop me..... "

"Princess...... "

She shudder.... Heart pounding she she saw him.. A few paces away from where she was standing......

"Don't do this..... "Francis shouted.....

More tears rushed down her cheek..... She bit her lips.. Then she raise the dagger ready to cut herself and jump into the river before he could stop him....... "Am sorry my love..... "She muttered ready to do the most dangerous thing.....

She was so keen on cutting herself that she didn't know when Barbara got to her......
They began to fight for the dagger.....

"I need to do this... "Katherine shouted as she struggled with her.....

The remaining three ran towards them....

Barbara try to take the dagger from her but she held it firmly in her hand.... With annoyance she slapped her on the face.. Her left hand still struggling with the dagger.....

Katherine didn't mind.. She kept fighting.. The dagger almost escaping from her grasped.. She put more effort... And try to yanked her hand away with a force......

Barbara pushed her hand back and the dagger went straight for her stomach..... Piercing deep into her........

Shock..... Terror etched on Katherine's face... She let go.. The dagger stuck on Barbara's stomach......

Barbara grimaced.... She try to catch her breathe.... She step forward.. About to crunched down to the ground... She lost her balance....... Her head spin and she staggered to the cliff....

Katherine screamed trying to hold hold her back but it was too late.... She watched in horror as Barbara fell off the cliff into the water....she landed down with a thud and the water splashed........

Barbara's body sink deep inside the black water...her blood washing on the surface......

"Barbara....... "She shouted.. Tears bursting out of her eyes........

"Francis...... "Vuga muttered as he watch in terror what was happening....

They all turn their attention to him... Fear grip them......

Francis couldn't utter a word... He stood motionless in his most shocking moment... "What's happening to me"he said with quivering mouth

They watched as his legs started disappearing.....then his waist... Leaving only his stomach and head hung in the air....

Heartpounding.... Katherine ran to him.. She try to grap he but the remaining part of his body quickly disappeared sending terror to them all.......

The place he was standing became empty.... Void like no one was there............

"Francis...... "Katherine shouted tears bursting out of her eyes.....

Fear struck.... Adesa look around... There was no sight of him....."He's gone"

Danasiri quickly opened her eyes.......

"The KA-RU is gone"One of her servant... A lower priestess said....

"Yes..... "She muttered.... "I felt it........ "

"He is suppose to stay..... "

Danasiri place her hand on the water in front of her........ "He will be back....... He is no use to ogini now..... When ogini have use of him........ He will return... And his work for ogini shall begin.............. farewell KA-RU........... "





COULD THIS BE THE END OF KATHERINE AND FRANCIS LOVE..........?
