Veteran Nollywood actress, Eucharia Anunobi said that her 15-year-old son, Raymond Ekwu, was mistakenly killed by a doctor. Anunobi made the revelation while explaining why she decided to celebrate his posthumous birthday with the motherless babies and why she decided to give some of his personal effects to young inmates at the Special Correctional Centre for the Boys. In an interview with Saturday Beats, the actress said: “I have not removed my mourning clothes, neither have I opened my hair since the death of my son. I have only been wearing white since his demise and the reason I have maintained this is because my son was a good boy to me; but he was mistakenly killed by the doctor. My son was not supposed to die. He was a very wonderful child. I decided to honour him by marking his 16th birthday posthumously the way we normally do. During our birthdays, we usually visited the motherless babies and show them love by donating some clothes and food to them. This year would not be any different from the previous ones we have celebrated. I am going to do it the way my son and I had always done it and I would give out some of his personal effects....CONTINUE READING AT >>

The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr. Garba Abari, has appealed to Nigerians to stop calling Nigeria as ‘Naija’, in order to keep its originality. He stated this while speaking to newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday, stressing that making the country’s name funky, was not in its best interest. “We try in all our advocacy visits to insist that Nigeria must be referred to as Nigeria and not Naija. “So, our schools have a role to play in this; the media itself has also got a very fundamental role to play because it is the media that helps in the propagation of this kind of misnomer. “All of us, as individuals, as corporate organisations, as media, whether broadcast, print or online, must wake up to the reality...MORE AT http://www.vintageinfo.com.ng/2017/02/22/noa-stop-calling-nigeria-naija/ |

The abduction of a two-month-old baby, Kudus Adebowale, by a customer has unsettled traders at a market in the Badagry Roundabout area of Lagos State. Kudu’s mother, Mrs. Alimat Adebowale, sells biscuits in the market, while the suspected abductor was identified simply as T-girl. The said T-girl was well known to most of the traders in the market and had lived in the community for over four years until a few months ago when she travelled. T-girl was said to have returned to the neighbourhood last week and went to the market, where she was treated to a warm reception around 9am on Thursday. It was gathered that she approached Alimat, who was breastfeeding the baby, Kudus, and took the child under the guise of playing with him. She reportedly strapped Kudus to her back afterwards and sat on a chair behind his mother, who was busy attending to customers. “Nobody knew when she (T-girl) disappeared from the market with the baby. The mother had looked back to check on Kudus, when she discovered that she had left the market with her child. We called her number, but she didn’t pick our calls. That was when it occurred to us that she had stolen the baby. “I don’t really blame Iya Kudus. She thought the child was in a safe hand because almost everybody here knows T-girl. She would come to buy things here and play with us. She is from Ibadan (Oyo State) and had lived here for more than four years before she travelled some months ago. She came back last week,” a woman, Kemi Agboola, who sells bread and drinks in the market, said.....MORE READS AT http://www.vintageinfo.com.ng/2017/02/07/woman-runs-away-with-a-two-month-year-old-baby-in-lagos-market-photos/

A Nigerian Professor of English, William Ajene Horsfall said, “Special Adviser to the President, Femi Adesina said the President had planned to return to Abuja this evening, but was advised to complete the test cycle before returning. The notice has since been dispatched to the Senate President, and Speaker, House of Representatives. “What notice? Notice by phone or email or official letter as usual? Who signed the letter? Let us see it and not only a three paragraph letter. “Remember, President Yar’Adua left Nigeria on 23 November 2009, and was reported to be receiving treatment for pericarditis at a clinic in Saudi Arabia. “He was not seen in public again, and his absence created a dangerous power vacuum in Nigeria. “He battled kidney failure and purportedly challenged his critics to a game of squash in an endeavor to end speculations about his health; this is exactly what is happening with Buhari and his government...MORE READS AT http://www.vintageinfo.com.ng/2017/02/06/prof-horsfall-buharis-state-no-difference-to-yaraduas/ |
The good people of Nigeria in union with the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), on Wednesday commended the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) for intercepting a 40-foot container with 661 pump action guns illegally imported. The National Publicity Secretary of the association, Mr Stanley Ezenga, made the commendation in an interview with pressmen in Lagos. He said that the interception was particularly commendable in view of the country’s security challenges. Ezenga told journalist that Nigeria’s security challenges would have been more if the rifles got into circulation. “The discovery of these dangerous weapons by customs is a pointer to the fact that the service will deliver on its mandate if provided with all the things required to do its job. “However, customs should embark on self-purging because it is embarrassing that some officials at the airport passed the same container that was discovered to carry weapons, during a turnaround check on Mile 2 – Apapa Road,“ he said..FULL DETAILS AT http://www.vintageinfo.com.ng/2017/02/02/40-foot-gun-containers-intercepted/ |
A section of Nigerians have expressed disappointment at the Presidency for allegedly releasing what they called ‘photo shopped’ photos of President Muhammadu Buhari. This is coming after some unconfirmed reports made the rounds that the president, who is currently on a 10-day vacation in the UK, died. The presidency had released new photos of Buhari, describing the report as unfounded., but the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC among others, had challenged him to speak to prove he is alive. Also, the photo of the president in a relaxed mood with some of his visitors, including Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, had caused a stir as some Nigerians had faulted the images, saying Gov. Amosun is currently in Ogun.. As at the time of filing this report, however, the President is yet to speak despite controversies. “Buhari better wait till 2019 before he dies, so he will just go peacefully at the end of his supposed tenure.” An Assistant Director with the Natonal Youth Service Corps, NYSC, who does not want his name mentioned, said “There is a plot to eliminate Osibanjo, so ‘if’ Buhari dies, he will not in any way automatically become president. They won’t succeed, although, he has to be careful.”.... MORE DETAILS AT http://www.vintageinfo.com.ng/2017/02/01/produce-buhari-now-nigerians-demand/ |

Protest erupted across the US on Sunday for a second day as the impact of President Donald Trump’s executive orders to place a restriction on visas and refugees, particularly from a group of Muslim-majority nations, started to set in, getting passengers stranded at airports around the globe. On Friday Trump signed executive orders that suspended the US refugee program for 120 days, and indefinitely banned those coming from Syria. The order also barred entry into the United States for citizens of Syria, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen for 90 days. An Iraqi man was among the first immigrant blocked at an American airport Friday night. The Iraqi worked as an interpreter for US forces. News of his detention at JFK airport in New York, and eventual release, sparked a large demonstration Saturday that grew into the night. Other demonstrations protesting Trump’s executive orders also started popping up across the US, including in Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Dallas, and Washington, DC. On Saturday night, federal judges began backing down on the order. One Judge issued a stay that prevents travellers already here from being immediately deported, telling the court, “I think the government hasn’t had a full chance to think about this.” A federal judge in Virginia also ordered officials to give lawyers access to “all legal permanent residents” being detained at Dulles International Airport. Early Sunday, the Department of Homeland Security said it would comply with the judicial orders, but said the executive orders remain in place. Meanwhile, German Chancellor has repeated criticism of Trump’s refugee policy during a press conference in Berlin Monday. Merkel said Trump’s executive order banning individuals from seven Muslim-majority countries went against the spirit and principles of international cooperation. Over the weekend, the Chancellor had to “explain” the Geneva convention to the recently inaugurated US president. “The necessary and decisive battle against terrorism does not in any way justify putting groups of certain people under general suspicion – in this case people of Muslim belief or of a certain origin,” Merkel told the conference. “In my opinion, this act runs contrary to the basic principles of international refugee help and international cooperation,” she said. “The chancellery and the foreign ministry will do everything they can, especially for those ..........MORE DETAILS AT http://www.vintageinfo.com.ng/2017/01/30/donald-trump-reconsiders-on-green-card-holders/ |
