I dont want to push this!. But, If you believe or you don't believe. He will never change. Even though you speaks evil of him. He will never bulge.

So far you are still on this earth breathing in what He created, using one of His design to your benefits. You are still his creature and He is your creator!.

Aish!.
Lord, may your name be praised!.

You are marvelous, you are wonderful.

You pave ways when their is no way.

You defied the normal trend of science.

You show love to those who hate you.

You are slow to get angry but fast to make corrections.

You are my pillar, my fortress, my rock, my provider.

You reign over kings, President and the nobles one.

Who am i to question your authority?.

You can decide and nobody can change your decision.

You can kill and nobody can wake those you killed.

You will forever be praised Lord.

You show me mercy when am sure i don't merit it.

You gave me the gift of life, air and water. Doctors charge huge amount of money for all this.
I worship your name.

You can change the heart of this op and nobody will question you.

You are the I am that I am, the lilly of the valley....

Glory to you Lord.

Op, do you know God still love you?

CHAPTER SEVEN

[b]The old lady sat there for a long time as if assessing what I had just said then without warning she spoke to my relief. "I will accept your reasons, since they sound honest enough. But I will also like to remind you of the proverb which talks about curiosity killing the cat. I don't say I am going to kill you, but unhealthy curiosity is good for nobody."

"Thank you Madam, I will always remember that."

The old lady rang a bell by her chair and the butler who had brought me the snacks and drinks reappeared.

"Madam called," he bowed from the waist.

"Indeed, i did Peter, bring me a glass of whisky and some ice cubes."

Within minutes the order had been brought and the old lady turned to me when the butler left.

"Feel at ease, request anything you will like to drink, even if it is whisky like me. Feel at home, because apart from these preliminary questions I asked you, I want you to do something for me. Teach my grand daughter Economics and Mathematics. She could not make it to Nsukka last year, and I want her to give it a good try this year."

These rich people and their idiosyncrasy. With such a great influence, she should have pulled a string at Nsukka. And, her grand daughter would be gladly admitted. Or she could have send her to one of the private university, Bowen,Convenant and the likes.

"But how did you know about me and that I could teach her Madam?"

"Look at me and look at this place, young man," the old lady laughed slyly. "Don't I look to you like someone of influence? Indeed perhaps I know more about you than you know of yourself. Did you not have second class upper at Nsukka?"

"Yes indeed, I did Madam." I answered in surprise.

"I spoke to the Minister of Education and I got all the information I needed on you from Nsukka. Instead of bringing a teacher all the way from Lagos everyday by helicopter, I guessed I could use the teacher in the house, so to speak."

"I am at your service then Madam."

"So how much would you charge me to teach Melody three times a week for two hours each?"

I was at that time earning about #70,000 a month from the teaching appointment, so i said something in the region of #35,000.

The old lady looked at me in sympathy. "How much are you paid at the school?"

"Seventy thousand naira Ma."
I will pay you #70,000 then. You poor teachers have been treated so badly that you don't know how to spend money anymore. I will send the Landcruiser to collect you everyday you have a lesson with her."

"Thank you Madam."

"You are welcome, but just make sure she makes it to the university this year."

It sounded like an ultimatum, and that made me shiver a little.

****CONTINUATION****

[b]If the ground could have opened up and swallowed me at that time, I would have appreciated it. But, the ground did not opened up neither did it bring out forth its mouth. I am still seated in front of my oppressor.

Short of having withcraft, how had this woman, perched up so high up Ilogbo town, and completely cut away from the village know of my curiousity about the place? Or did she have spies in the village? For a minute, I was struck dumb.

"Why have you been wanting to know about this place of mine young man?"

"Madam, I.........er........er.... I mean I don't understand Madam."

Should I killed this woman or held her hostage to avoid possible embarrassment or maybe detention. No, I can't kill her. If I do, I would be jailed for life.

Maybe, i should ran for my life. I decided to took my chance and ran. When i heard the woman said,

"Young man, don't think of running because you won't get past the gate. Or you want to go home with a battered face"

I sat down quietly expecting the worst to come.

"Now, back to my questions.
Young man. Where have you been so curious about my residence, my family and me? I want to know why."

"Madam, I believe you are making a mistake. I don't understa......."

"You understand me properly.
And, i am not making a mistake."

She cut me off promptly, "and you know it. You are always perched on that tall tree near your house watching this place, and the other time, you attempted to walk through that path to the southern end of this house. Why?"

Now I believed that the old lady truly had a spy in the village, and I wondered who it could be.

Whether it would be the landlord who had questioned me why I liked climbing the trees so much. Was the chief the spy for this woman? And if so, why?
She had also known of my secret but unsuccessful trip to the house. Who could have told her? Could it have been the chief too? I doubted it because that morning that i set out on the expedition, no one had been around.

"Madam, I don't know how you know so much about me, but it is true what you are saying."

"So why are you interested in this place?"

I swallowed a lump in my throat that threatened to choke me.

"Madam, I meant no malice with my interest, it was only of youthful curiousity. And I would like you to look at it that way Madam, and if I offended you with my uncalled for interest in your residence, I will only ask to be forgiven since, like I told you, I meant no harm."
