PoliticsRe: Davido: 'APC Planning To Rig Osun Rerun Election' by simpledude: 6:25pm On Sep 26, 2018
Last Saturday's Governorship election in Osun state was to me a reflection of the fact that increasingly , Nigerian politics is getting to be driven by a very strong generational change. The millennials are gradually taking over. Or how else could you explain the role a Davido for instance played in driving voters to his uncle's corner. It is also reflection of the fact that younger voters with no clue about the issues at stake are beginning to dominate the political landscape. The evolving generational shift in political discourse and expressions could have important implications for future elections in this country and future policy directions.

The comments in the social media by these younger generation on the Osun election left so much to be desired as most of the comments are mostly base on crass ignorance. I saw a comment posted by a young lady of 25 in a whatsapp group seriously abusing the APC candidate in the Osun election and I replied her message by asking if she knows the candidate personally because the abuse was just too much. She said NO , she doesn't know the candidate , and she does not care ; APC has done 8 years , and they should just pack their bags and leave. I asked her if she assessed the plans of the leading candidates before reaching her conclusion and the answer was still NO , APC should just leave and give room for another person . And when I mentioned to her that the candidate closest to becoming the Governor as things stand at present is a secondary school dropout , certificate forger and a total misfit, she replied by asking me if the guy is that bad , how come everyone is following him. And therein lies the problem. The rule of the mob is the major galvanism for these kids.

No sense of history , no care about policies , just lets follow the mob. Those long-preserved values of the older generation count for less for these emerging electorates . They see themselves as revolutionaries for urgent changes. And for change's sake. It is welcoming and highly refreshing that these Millennials are prepared to step up, vote and play an active role in the country's political life. But it is difficult to explain how they have allowed themselves to be hoodwinked into believing that someone who dropped out of high school at 21, who has never been involved in any work or project and who is the anti-thesis of all values and virtues that our older generation parents imbued in us would perform better as Governor than an MBA holder with years of experience in the Nigeria's financial sector.

What happened last Saturday during the first round of elections in Osun reeked strongly of a generational shift in our voting patterns. The older generation better be careful and provide the required guidance before things became worse than this . Back to Davido who pull all the plugs to ensure that his followers in Osun translated their love for him to votes for his uncle. He deployed industry, energy, musical prowess and fake posts (the freeze of the Adeleke's accounts by EFCC) to his Uncle's advantage during the campaigns , and the youth lapped it up. Impressive. Of further interest is the fact that most news writers and social media commentaries have failed to accord the efforts of the son of the APC candidate the same credit.

The lesser known (of course he is not a Musician) Femi Oyetola, the first son of the APC candidate is an Insurance Executive. He was no less a major participant in his father's campaigns. He was involved in the strategies , security and serious mobilization for the elections. He was highly visible at his father's campaign rallies and was involved in all activities towards the election. It was his quick thinking that led to the recent arrest of the PDP stalwart Alhaji Diekola at Alekuwodo Osogbo where the PDP chief was busy buying PVCs from voters eligible to vote during the rerun election. As at last check, a total of 62 PVCs were recovered from the PDP buyer-in-chief. Davido is everywhere for his uncle , Femi is everywhere for his father, and the millennials have completely signaled their arrival as the new dominant players in our body polity.

BusinessThe Fear Of Ayoku Liadi Of Uba by simpledude(op): 6:12am On Jul 27, 2014
The fear of Ayoku Liadi, a very top director in UBA, is the beginning of wisdom. Staff of the bank tremble and kowtow before him, while the customers catch cold whenever he sneezes. This dude is however not one to brook any nonsense from any quarters. He is blessed with this unique feature that decorates a man with the title of gentleman.  Little wonder, many worship the ground he treads while praying and hoping that they don’t incur his wrath.Ayoku has an impressive academic qualification and can be said to have a brilliant and intelligent attributes that enamoured the board of UBA to employ him after the controversy that trailed him while working in GTB Sierra Leone. By all standards, Ayoku has recorded some moderate success in his social life as top banker. If some of these could be attributed to him, the question on the lips  of most staffers and customers in the bank who have been at the receiving ends of his acerbic treatments at one time or the other is why has he become a nightmare to both customers and his subordinates at work? Apart from his breathe-down-your-neck approach, Ayo is alleged to always hurl insults at staff members at the slightest provocation. At, UBA headoffice, the fear of Ayo is the beginning of wisdom. So overbearing has he grown that the number of staff, mostly of top rank, is shrinking on a weekly basis. No doubt, his domineering management style is giving the MD, Philip Oduoza a big concern. Happenstances around him bring back the memory of the Yoruba folktale that warns that if the figurine wants to precipitate it downfall; it will make apassionate plea to be taken to the river to swim. The worshipers of the figurine had sensed that it might, at a particular time, be deluded by theoverwhelming numbers of visitors to its shrine for solution over one affliction or the other. Therefore it may presume that its powers transcend terrestrial influence, that it can also take dominion in the river.

madejibo: Let me come down hard on some mothe-r-f-uc-kers that on this Nairaland that have called me names on this thread. I know you are new recruits for GTB that's why you just talk thrash on this thread. I met your ogas today at the 8th floor of your head office and unlike you eediots they were so warm and friendly and we are nearly close to reaching a truce. Really impressed with the team I met, you eediots shouting on nairaland are the fraudsters in GTB soiling the names of the founding fathers of the bank. You a-s-s-holes stealing customers pin and info to hack people's account. God go catch you someday.
Why would those so-called ogas not attempt to reach a truce with you when you have been busy mudslingling the Bank that they have struggled through the years to build. At least if everybody has been talking thrash to you , you know the truth in your heart of hearts. It was so clear even from your orginal post that you were only seeking to reap where you did not sow .

May your conscience judge you . May the blood of the innocent teller that had to pay for your dishonest acts hang on your neck. May the almighty God apportion to you the right measure that your dishonest deeds deserve. Amen !

mykeeikeng: @ Walesmann , your post , to me is really the main issue. I believe all men of reason need not go beyond your post to really understand what must have happened in this case.
@ Somebody , do you really think anybody working in a corporate environment would call anybody Onigbese? The original poster was just out to carry out a hatchet job on the Bank.

The things that have made sense to me here were the posts by @Mykeeikeng and @ Walesmann. How on earth could the poster be demanding for ATM camera pictures for a transaction he carried out in 2007? How many bank ATMs were fitted with cameras as at then? He knew the possibilities of retrieving the camera pitcures were remote which was why he was basing his argument on that .

Just like the @OP is requesting the Bank for some confidential customer information which I believe the Bank or its staff may not be willing to provide publicly , can the @OP provide us here his statements of accounts for the referenced period? We shall see whether we would see the credit of N102,000 there or not. And whether there was also a withdrawal of N60,000 or not.

Claiming that he was not the person that withdrew the N60,000 from his account is a different ball game entirely. Was he not aware of the debit ? why didnt he query the Bank then if he is now claiming ignorance of the withdrawal. How I wish and hope that the Bank somehow shames this fraudulent fellow.

Mrs, Chima:
It is part of the pre-intimacy.  wink  You have scratches on your back dear.   embarassed
People should learn to own up to their actions , and accept responsibilities for their errors of judgement. The babe was carried away with the lure of lucre being thrown her way generously by the guy. Pray , how many single guys could have been able to afford the kind of luxurious life that must have been placed at her disposal by the married guy?

Now that the tables have turned. Abeg ,she should cry all she could. She does not have my sympathy at all. She should just hope that the guy has a change of heart , and he at least picks the bills for his baby. These girls are real jezebels and do not deserve my pity at all. This one just didnt play her balls well.

I heard from my uncle of a case recently involving one babe I used to know in my school days at Iree Poly. While we were in school , this girl specialized in dating married men purely for their money , and then dumping them for the next bigger happening guy at the slightest opportunity. I heard she was dating 3 of them at a go and had even given birth to a baby girl for  one of them.  Well , the one she claims owns the baby is one big Alhaji , a senior cabinet member in one south western state government.

She has not even stopped at having the baby alone; what I was told was that she is even planning to take over the guy's home and combined with her mum have entirely almost destroyed the Alhaji's home.

So , why should one pity these Gold Diggers. I think they should continue to shed plenty more tears.
BusinessRe: GTBank Customers Can Now Make Deposit Through ATM by simpledude: 4:25pm On Aug 15, 2011
Femboss:
First Bank and Zenith have been operating deposit taking ATMs for a while,

Not a big deal, Why are you people shouting?? I guess, it must be GT effect!! I have noticed that any normal product/service that GT Bank release, it is met with so much fanfare. Some of their branches have the longest ATM queue, yet people still patronise them. Mind-boggling.
It is true GTBank was not the first Bank to launch the deposit ATM in Nigeria. However , it is only GTBank in its usual manner that has taken this innovation to the next level.

I am aware that SKYE Bank and First Bank have both launched this solution over the last 2 years , and I have been excited enough to have tried both solutions , but was disappointed on each occassion. When a friend mentioned the presence of a deposit ATM at GTBank branch at Adeola Odeku , I refused to give up based on my previous experiences and went to try the ATM. So , I am in a position to compare the offerings of all 3 Banks.

It was only at GTBank that I was able to pay into another person's account. The person's name even came up on the screen for me to confirm before I concluded the transaction. At First Bank and SKYE , only account holders can pay into their own accounts by themselves.

Above all was the fact I did not use an ATM card to make the payment. The whole transaction was cardless. The experience was heartwarming , soul-lifting , that a good thing can still come out of Nigeria. I think this Bank would go places , and we should give kudos to them, rather than down-playing their achievement.
BusinessRe: A Narrow Escape (ATM Story): Please Read And Be Informed! by simpledude: 11:09am On Jul 11, 2011
Dear poster ,

Are you sure this happened on a GTBank ATM?

I bank with UBA , but the only Bank ATM i use in Nigeria are the ATMs of GTBank . This is because I am aware that they have anti-skimming devices installed on all their branch ATMs, unlike my Bank.

I feel a sense of security each time I go to a GTBank ATM. You will notice that an electronic covering is on their ATM to cover the keyboard and there is also a notice that the ATM is protected.

Please cross-check your story again.
