PoliticsRe: President Buhari Didn’t Name Looters To Protect Ministers – PDP by sinistermind(m): 2:41am On Jul 04, 2016
My take on this:

Baba made the statement before the compilation of list. It's a fact that you can't compile a comprehensive list of the people who has milked this country without mentioning people in his camp. He knew such will smear his anti-corruption fight and consequently falling out with some of his "financiers". We are eager to see the list tho.

PoliticsRevisit 2014 Confab Resolutions Now, Traditional Rulers Tell Buhari by sinistermind(op): 2:14am On Jul 04, 2016
The Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to revisit resolutions of the 2014 National Conference to adequately address the incessant and diverse regional violence and agitations in the country.

The Council gave the advice in a communiqué issued at the end of its 9th National Development Summit, in Abuja, weekend.

It frowned on the violent issues that had been the foremost undoing of the nation’s advancement and urged the President to revisit the Confab report, with a view to finding lasting solutions to them.

The Council also challenged the President to demonstrate the same political will he exhibited against Boko Haram in tackling both the undercarriages and wheels propelling incessant bloody clashes between herdsmen and farmers, and innocent communities in various parts of the country.

The Council, which commended the President for demonstrating the power to crush Boko Haram in the North Eastern part of the country and minimize corruption in the polity, objected to the idea of allocating lands to herdsmen for grazing reserves, but urged Federal Government to establish  ranches only where necessary across the country.

The communique read: “The Federal Government should revisit the resolutions of the 2014 National Conference in order to adequately address issues of endless diverse regional violent agitations in the country, a situation that has been the foremost undoing of our national advancement.

“We want the President to demonstrate the same political will he demonstrated against Boko Haram, so that it will reflect in halting both the undercarriages and wheels propelling incessant bloody clashes between herdsmen and farmers in various parts of the country, as insecurity is a critical factor militating against agricultural development.

‘’Government should intensify efforts to revitalize agriculture through elaborate funding and provision of vital implements.

‘’Traditional rulers should be visibly involved    in encouraging their subjects to pay taxes and avoid deliberate destruction of government property in their domain.”
PoliticsEnforcement Of Ban On Hawking In Lagos Starts Today by sinistermind(op): 2:02am On Jul 04, 2016
Lagos—Following the directive by Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State on the enforcement of Law against hawking in the state, most streets and highways at the weekend seemed deserted by traders for fear of being arrested.

This came as the Lagos State Taskforce on Environment and Special Offences, vowed to commence a total enforcement on street trading across the state as directed by the governor today.

Ambode at the weekend, directed law enforcement agencies to commence a total enforcement against street trading and street hawkers from July 1, 2016, saying that the law banning their activities across the metropolis would take its full course.

The governor, speaking at a live interview, said that the renewed enforcement is in line with Section I of the Lagos State Street Trading and Illegal Market Prohibition Law 2003 which restricts street trading and hawking in the metropolis.

However, observations over the weekend showed that quite a number of the traders deserted major highways, but have employed other means of hawking their wares.

In Oshodi, Egbeda, Ikeja, Ikotun, Ojo, among other areas of the state, few street hawkers were seen on the road but with vigilance.

It was gathered that most of the traders who were complaining bitterly against the law, accused the state government of planning to ruin their sources of living and thereby take to crime.

One of the street traders, simply identified as Uche, who spoke to Vanguard at Egbeda area, said he has no other trade than selling handkerchiefs and confessionary which he had engaged in for the past six years since he finished his Ordinary National Diploma, OND, from a Polytechnic.

He explained that in order to avoid arrest, they have come up with a new trend of keeping their wares in a hidden place, while they display only few for sale.

“By this means the law enforcement agents can not easily detect or see us to arrest. More so, it will be easier for us to escape when the chips are down.

Meanwhile the Public Affairs Officer of the taskforce, Mr Adebayo Taofiq, when contacted on the number of suspects arrested so far since the announcement by the governor, said, “Honestly, we are yet to make any arrest, but as from tomorrow (today), the taskforce unit, to be led by its Chairman, Superintendent of Police, Olayinka Egbeyemi, with other security outfits and men of the Kick Against Indiscipline, will launch a total enforcement across the metropolis and y one caught in the process shall be prosecuted accordingly.”

Governor Ambode, while sympathizing with the family of a street hawker who was knocked down by an articulated truck in the process of evading arrest from officials of Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) along Maryland Bus stop last Wednesday, regretted that the situation led to the death and destruction of public assets.

Consequently, Ambode said the state Executive Council has resolved to enforce the Law, which according to him makes both the hawker and the buyer liable of the offence.

PoliticsForgery Allegation: Court Ruling Has Vindicated Us – Senate by sinistermind(op): 1:47am On Jul 04, 2016
THE Senate, yesterday, said it had been vindicated by last Thursday’s ruling of a Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Gabriel Kolawole, which described the forgery case filed against its presiding officers as an abuse of court process and a decision taken against public interest. In a statement by its spokesman, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, the Senate said the ruling by Justice Kolawole further confirmed that Mr. Abubakar Malami, the Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, and Minister of Justice, was acting out a personal and partisan script in filing the charges, while simply abusing his position as the nation’s chief law officer.

Malami’s personal and pecuniary interest
It asked Malami to address the issue of his personal and pecuniary interest in the case as he was a counsel to the aggrieved senators who decided to externalise the issue of election of the leadership of the upper chamber of the National Assembly after they failed in their bid to get their preferred candidate elected.
The Senate said: “It has now become obvious from the ruling of Justice Kolawole and in the facts of the matter before the Federal High Court, Malami was the one who advised his clients to report the matter to the Police and now that he has become AGF, he decided to use his constitutional powers   to pursue private interest by filing a criminal case in the FCT High Court against the subsisting ruling of a court of co-ordinate jurisdiction. “ When the Senate invited the AGF to come and throw light on the forgery case, it was not to challenge his right to file, take over or discontinue   any criminal case but for him to explain the issues of conflict of interest, abuse of office, disrespect of a subsisting order of   a court and violation of the principle of separation of powers which are being raised against him. “When his supporters jumped up and started abusing the Senate over the invitation, we know that our stance that an Attorney General, and, indeed, any public officer for whose office public funds are appropriated can be invited by the Senate and the House of Representatives to explain certain issues, is on firm, constitutional ground.

Revelation from court’s ruling

‘’That is in spite of the fact that the AGF is responsible to the President who appointed him. Now, the revelations from the ruling of the court of competent jurisdiction have shown that this AGF has a lot to explain to the public, if not to his appointor. “It says a lot about an AGF who, despite being aware that the court had ordered him and the Inspector of General of Police not to take any further action on the matter during the pendency of the civil suit still, went ahead to initiate the criminal case on the Police report which is the subject of the civil case. ‘’The judge rightly described Malami’s action as desperate haste that was not in public interest. “It should be noted that Malami’s name is still on the list of lawyers defending Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi and others in the Federal High Court. We invite all Nigerians, including those shouting over whether it was right for Senate to invite the AGF or not, to read the ruling of Justice Kolawole and conclude whether Malami is still fit to be AGF in a government which canvasses change and rule of law. “Our position as a law making chamber is that the Office of AGF is a sensitive and strategic one being the only other office in the executive arm apart from that of President and Vice President to which the constitution specifically assigns some roles and powers. ‘’We call on him to respect the ruling of the court and to redeem the integrity of his office and admit his error by invoking his power under Section 174 (1) as noted in the ruling of the honourable judge.” “In conclusion, the Senate is calling on all parties, Mr. Malami, the Attorney General inclusive, to heed the wise, timely and apt advice of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar that ‘it is time to move on.’” ‘’Truly, Nigeria needs our collective energy to address the various challenges, notably increasing poverty, hunger, youth unemployment, general insecurity and kidnapping, among others, which are time bombs that we can only ignore at our own collective peril.”

I wonder how people like you think... have dis people carried out any attack? Have they spilled innocent blood? They only engage in protest and not violence. We fail to reason whenever we see a headline that fuels our ideology further. You call them terrorist groups, if they were, they would have retaliated the attacks on Nimbo by the Fulani herdsmen. If they were terrorists, the mass killing of their members in June would have sparked serious violence. Besides what will bombing computer village achieve? Killing their brothers and businesses? We should stop all dis ethic bigotry in our posts and look at real issues and facts before jumping into conclusion.

I will presume this man hasn't sit down to think of the effect of this militancy if they are there for a long time. The more you fight these militants, the more resilient they are. And right now, Nigeria can't afford to fight a war on 2 fronts. The militants will happily cripple the economy. So the best d present can do is negotiation. He didn't even tell us how negotiations will lead to a civil war. So I see it as a threat rather than a prediction.

OP thanks for clearing the air. To be honest, the rate at which oil theft is growing in ikorodu is alarming. I thought The event of last year where officers were killed around Agric by these oil thieves would have sparked the mop up of these criminals in those areas, but viola, here is the result. The security agencies like the OP stated, aid these criminal. I've been opportuned to be a witness to this when officers of the Area N police station in Ijede went to the house of one of these oil thieves by the creeks in Majidun area to demand for money. When I got there I saw over 500 50litre kegs there. So with all these, I wonder how such will be addressed. These people have no regard for human lives. For one guy saying they're Biafrian Terrorists, the people that were killed, were they only Yorubas? Let's say No to tribalism and criminality.
