Not Assess Buhari u say? Weren't they aware of the rot in the previous govt. before making some promises they intend to carry out within a year? Aren't they on this planet or even following events concerning oil prices with prediction of further crash when making those promises. The truth is that they weren't ready for governance and that's why we seems to be stuck at one point since last year except for the "corruption" that is been tackled of which I have my reservations.

At last...

Of course last year they launched the first Ford car assembled in Nigeria. So can u say that a good percentage of 2016 Ford vehicles are made in Nigeria or the vehicles supplied to the Lagos State Govt are all made-in-Nigeria?

Have they ever thought that they could get a better product from IVM. I mean customised vehicles. The US president official vehicle "The Beast" I believe was built in the United States, IVM can replicate such I think with the help of the military.

Point of correction, Coscharis isn't a manufacturer but a sole distributor/dealer of ford cars as Elizade is for Toyota.

I, Brigadier Joshua Nimyel Dogonyaro, of the Nigerian Army, hereby make the following declaration on behalf of my colleagues and members of the Nigerian Armed Forces. Fellow country men, the intervention of the military at the end of 1983 was welcomed by the nation with unprecedented enthusiasm. Nigerians were unified in accepting the intervention and looked forward hopefully to progressive changes for the better.

Almost two years later, it has become clear that the fulfillment of expectations is not forthcoming. Because this generation of Nigerians and indeed future generations have no other country but Nigeria, we could not stay passive and watch a small group of individuals misuse power to the detriment of our national aspirations and interest.

No nation can ever achieve meaningful strides in its development where there is an absence of cohesion in the hierarchy of government; where it has become clear that positive action by the policy makers is hindered because as a body it lacks a unity of purpose.

It is evident that the nation would be endangered with the risk of continuous misdirection. We are presently confronted with that danger. In such a situation, if action can be taken to arrest further damage, it should and must be taken. This is precisely what we have done. The Nigerian public has been made to believe that the slow pace of action of the Federal Government headed by Major-General Muhammadu Buhari was due to the enormity of the problems left by the last civilian administration.

Although it is true that a lot of problems were left behind by the last civilian government, the real reason, however, for the very slow pace of action is due to lack of unanimity of purpose among the ruling body; subsequently, the business of governance has gradually been subjected to ill-motivated power play considerations. [/b]The ruling body, the Supreme Military Council, has, therefore, progressively been made redundant by the actions of a select few members charged with the day-to-day implementation of the SMC’s policies and decision.

[b]The concept of collective leadership has been substituted by stubborn and illadvised unilateral actions, thereby destroying the principles upon which the government came to power. Any effort made to advise the leadership, met with stubborn resistance and was viewed as a challenge to authority or disloyalty. Thus, the scene was being set for systematic elimination of what, was termed oppositions. All the energies of the rulership were directed at this imaginary opposition rather than to effective leadership. The result of this misdirected effort is now very evident in the country as a whole. The government has started to drift. The economy does not seem to be getting any better as we witness daily increased inflation. The nation’s meager resources are once again being wasted on unproductive ventures.

Government has distanced itself from the people and the yearnings and aspirations of the people as constantly reflected in the media have been ignored. This is because a few people have arrogated to themselves the right to make the decisions for the larger part of the ruling body. All these events have shown that the present composition of our country’s leadership cannot, therefore, justify its continued occupation of that position.

Furthermore, the initial objectives and programmes of action which were meant to have been implemented since the ascension to power of the Buhari Administration in January 1984 have been betrayed and discarded. The present state of uncertainty and stagnation cannot be permitted to degenerate into suppression and retrogression. We feel duty bound to use the resources and means at our disposal to restore hope in the minds of Nigerians and renew aspirations for a better future.

We are no prophets of doom for our beloved country, Nigeria. We, therefore, count on everyone’s cooperation and assistance. I appeal to you, fellow countrymen, particularly my colleagues in arms to refrain from any act that will lead to unnecessary violence and bloodshed among us. Rest assured that our action is in the interest of the nation and the armed forces.

In order to enable a new order to be introduced, the following bodies are dissolved forthwith pending further announcements: (a) The Supreme Military Council (b) The Federal Executive Council (c) The National Council of States. All seaports and airports are closed, all borders remain closed. Finally, a dusk to dawn curfew is hereby imposed in Lagos and all state capitals until further notice. All military commanders will ensure effective maintenance of law and order. Further announcements will be made in due course. God bless Nigeria.

It is sad that the hike in fuel prices will push it up further... the lower class in Nigeria will be killed off soon.

It is a simple economic principle, u don't fix a price ceiling if you really want the forces of demand and supply. Not to sell above 145 also translates that all marketers can peg price within the same price range and there's nothing neither we nor the govt can do.

Still waiting to see where dis man's case is heading... in oda news, the Travor Assault Rifle though

The minister of petroleum was very detailed in explaining on t.v that in six (6) months time, The market forces which made GSM to become cheap today will also be seen and felt in the price of fuel.

According to him; There would soon be competition amongst the marketers and that would amount to drastic reduction in price of fuel..

On paper, The minister was on point.

My economics textbook buttresses what the minister of petroleum was trying to explain.

But you see...Some things in Naija get to be beyond what is written in the book.

I mean, How can you explain the reality of every filling station all of a sudden, having fuel to sell?

Every fuel station is now open and the queues have disappeared.

I ask; What caused the queues in the first place. The answer is simple; ARTIFICIAL SCARCITY.

These fuel stations and their owners have a union and with this union, they can cause scarcity at will in the market in order to fix the price as they like.

So, seeing how powerful these marketers are in price-fixing, What are the odds that there is going to be an academic "market force" that would bring down the fuel price before december?

If you ask me, I will tell you that the odd is zero. I have one simple reason for my zero odd..

Was 145 Naira the official price that FG announced? No...What the FG said was simple;

"Every marketer can now source for funds and import fuel from anywhere, BUT NO MARKETER SHOULD SELL ABOVE 145 NAIRA....".

And Baaam!
All the marketers consequently and immediately, fixed their prices to 145 naira sharp sharp.
These are the kind of marketers we are dealing with.

Therefore,
Come december...
Come next year...
Come next decade...
Fuel price MAY never go below 145 naira..

God bless you my brother, u just put my thoughts into writing. You can't say u want to allow market forces to come into place while u fix a price ceiling, in otherwords, no marketer will be faulted if he even sells at 140/litre. With the current exchange rate and restriction on FX, I foresee no reduction.

Well, I think people like Falana, Fashola and their likes need to apologise to GEJ. That period, I can remember that the governors forum also supported the removal and when the time came, people like falana said "there is nothing like subsidy" "what are we subsidising?" then he gave us Law Mathematics on how there's nothing like subsidy. Now "Mr. Integrity" is in power and all of a sudden there is subsidy. We should remember that it was the last administration that opened our eyes to subsidy and explained to us how it's done with no oda govt before them did, they open our eyes to the fraud under the subsidy payments. I wonder what would have happened if they had kept quiet at least what we don't know won't hurt us. So at this point, I would say that GEJ deserve a commendation of this issue of subsidy and also deserves an apology.

Nice compilation... I have decided to refrain from commenting on this subsidy removal issue. Just look at the complication of lies we Nigerians have been told and someone will come on here to defend the action of d Government. First if you are seeking a competitive market for PMS, why the price ceiling? All marketers can come together n decide not to sell below 145 for the next 2 years and there's nothing no one can do since there is already a fixed price ceiling. This Government finally displayed their insensitivity to the plight of Nigerians.

I'm in support of d removal but not certainly at dis period.

Yesterday i read an article on Vanguard about the President's Comment on Abacha not stealing Nigeria's Money, reading the article made me understand something. The only thing that made the President made such statement can only be attributed to him trying to clear the name of his Friend and benefactor. This is what is happening in this administration. We all love Nigeria, we all wants things to work because if everything spoils in Nigeria, it won't only affect only "wailers" or "zombies" but Nigerians as a whole. I support the fight against corruption 100% but i am against the selective fight against corruption. So far, the people that are called corrupt are top supporters of the the opposition or people who are perceived to be a threat in 2019. i will ask a question, what happened to the allegation brought against Amaechi to the EFCC? Where did the campaign funds for the President come from what happened to the 3 SUVs received by the President from the office of the NSA? because if Doyin Okupe is indicted, then Mr. President is complicit. So far the EFCC is showing it is only a tool of the FG not just this Administration but also during the Administration of OBJ to go after perceived threats. So far i just think if the Government is serious about fighting corruption, it should go beyond opposition, there are people who looted this country in his party, they are working with him, i will therefore be assured of the fight against corruption if the government can go after people in his government who have stolen public funds either state or federal level.
