Romance / Should I Cheat On My Boyfriend/girlfriend/partner? Here's The Answer by sinistrian(m): 8:04pm On Sep 24, 2019
Cheating is defined as not severing the connection after you've decided to jump. If you decide to cheat, you're a selfish, disrespectful coward and a piece of s**t. Now let me explain.

Nobody ever cheats on their partner by mistake or in a moment of weakness. Cheating is a planned and deliberate act which indicates a basic lack of regard and disrespect for one's partner, or a sign that they have given up on the relationship but do not have the courage to speak and say they don't want it anymore.

The process is the same for both men and women, and it always follows this sequence:

a feeling of newness/excitement
a declaration of interest and/or acknowledgement and acceptance of the other party's interest
encouraging/instigating further advances of interest in less ambiguous terms
setting up a time and location for clandestine intimacy
ensuring that the time and location do not clash with the time/location they normally should be spending/sharing with their partner (this one is important)
finally, covering up all items and documents that would provide evidence of the meeting.
These steps can all occur within hours, or may happen over months. But they are never 'mistakes' or 'weaknesses'. They are always consciously planned.

What hurts about cheating is not so much the sexual act or the emotional connections that have been formed. If it were, threesomes wouldn't be so appealing and open marriages/polygamy wouldn't work. The hurtful feeling comes more from the betrayal, the breach of understanding, and the deceit. It is the feeling of losing the specialness of the bond by introducing another individual into the picture without common consent.

Dealing with this feeling is not even a matter of religion, faith, culture, age, maturity, or knowledge of risks/consequences. It is about one's state of mind. When one is tempted/feels the urge to go animal, we should ask

Will this act give me fulfillment?
Can I recreate it with this individual or any other as often as I want, or is it a one-time thing?
Will I be happy with the way I feel about myself after I do it?
Is it of a better quality than what I have/i'm getting at the moment?
Will it improve my mental and emotional state during and after the act?
Is it worth losing the other things I derive from my current partner?
Does it feel like I'm in control of the act/feeling, rather than it controlling me?
If the answers to these questions are all “yes”, then there is absolutely no reason to hold back. Please go with the person you are currently being drawn magnetically to.

However, what you now need to do is to clearly and completely break off the relationship with your current partner. This should be before you let your animal feelings take over, or immediately after. By this time, you will have achieved your new level of fulfillment. No, you cannot be friends. And no, you won't have moments of regretful remorse. No, their actions didn’t push you into it. No, this is not a weakness you have. You decided to go after what would satisfy you, and given the same circumstances and unlimited resources, you would make the same decision over and over again.

Car Talk / Re: Can One Retain Plate Number After Selling Car? by sinistrian(m): 8:32am On Jun 14, 2019
drpossibilities:
It is possible. I just did same last week. I was using a Honda City and then I bought an Acura MDX. I sold the City without the plate number and transferred the Plate No. to the Acura. It cost me just N30,000 rather than the N48,000 it would have cost me to get a new plate number. Carregng does it for N35,000.
Did they issue a new proof-of-ownership certificate to you for the new vehicle?

MY SUPER WONDERFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE WITH MORNINGSTAR CORPORATION

I have two MorningStar 60a MPPT CCs which regulate the DC electricity that runs my entire house - the older of the two CCs intermittently throws a fault <DIP SWITCH CHANGED> due to some software error apparently but otherwise functions well and enters absorb and float normally.

Two years after I purchased this CC from an Amazon seller, I raised a support ticket with MorningStar Corp directly about the error I regularly saw logged on the CC - we worked through troubleshooting steps together and without any push or threat or force on my part, MorningStar already sent me a brand new MorningStar MPPT 60a as replacement CC entirely free of charge - bear in mind I did not purchase the CC directly from them o! They did not ask me for proof of purchase, they did not imply that I had somehow caused the fault, they simply determined that there was an issue with a product under their global 5 year warranty and immediately shipped a replacement out to me once I provided them the serial number of the product for their records

I was so humbled and grateful I told them to ship to my US address so that they would not have to bear the costs to ship to Nigeria - they were actually willing to ship it to me here.

This sets the standard for what a customer should expect from sellers and manufacturers when he buys from them and that way the customer can buy with confidence. MorningStar have made a customer for life with me.

See below juicy titbits from my engagement with MorningStar support.

Stories like this comfort me whenever I look at the MorningStar TS MPPT 60 controller I bought and ask myself if it was really worth spending so much for an MPPT controller.

Yes, my suspicion is that there's a short/fault somewhere inside the inverter. I've disconnected it from the house now.
Time to go and look for petrol sad sad

My concern is that a house load of 400W max is tripping a 63A breaker via the inverter. And this is a 48V system! If I put the 100A breaker in, it means I am giving a 2.4kva nverter the go-ahead to pull 4800 watts from the battery!

It's a DC breaker rated 25ADC. And it trips immediately I switch the inverter on. I just replaced it with a higher amperage DC breaker (63ADC) just now and the same thing happened.

Which tells me the inverter is trying to pull an insanely large amount of current for a 48V system at startup. This never happened before - my max current draw (even with fridge surge) has always been about 15ADC. Now, with zero load, the inverter wants to pull more than 63ADC?

Hello guys,
I noticed this afternoon that the battery supply circuit breaker keeps tripping off when the inverter is switched on - even when there is no load connected to the inverter output. What could cause this?

Duely noted sir . The batteries wer reading 10 & 13v respectively! It all started with hotness , hissing sound and swelling alas. Batteries should be about 2 yrs old . Inverter charges at 28.4v, 26.8v 15a under my test result !
How long does it stay in bulk charge? These pics are definitely the result of overcharging.

Hello fellow forumites,
I visited a site yesterday under emergency to inspect a 1.5va luminous ion inverter and duo luminous batteries set up . Whilst on site , I observed the batteries were already swollen & condemned. I was already of the opinion that the inverter malfunctioned and over charged its batteries. I took the inverter system home, under proper test & observation , I noticed the said system charges real good and floats after full charged. What would have spoilt the batteries
Wow. It's almost as if the batteries exploded. The way my car battery looked when the alternator failed and started outputting 17V - 21V instead of 14.3V; Did you smell Hydrogen sulphide (rotten eggs) around these batteries?

@Sinistrian,
Nice! Looking at your sketch, the connection to the load seem to be at the same potential. Is that a mistake?
I use a similar setup to "switch on" my heavy loads db. I use a timer switch in series with a bmv as "on" permissive.
Same potential as inverter input, yes. The live passes through the contactor while the neutral feeds directly from the inverter.

Here are the contactor and SSR:

Lolz.

Slowly and surely you will get more techy.

Based on all you have said and with a new inverter with variable DoD out of the picture, I think a Low Voltage Disconnect type device is what you need - Oga Pranil has plenty of experience in this area and I also recall Oga Sinistrian recently rigged up an LVD device too.

I hereby drag them into this matter - Oga Sinistrian is overdue to give a tear down of his LVD project anyways.

CC Oga Pranil and Sinistrian

I built my own LVD because I couldn't find any inverter or device that could reliably cut the power at 50% DOD. The circuit below is what I used, please forgive the lack of professional terminology as I made use of my elementary electrical knowledge since secondary school.

The BMV700/702 has a means of effectively tracking DOD as Barezzi has already suggested, so it's the crucial element here. If you want to use voltage levels for your cutoff point instead of a battery monitor, a programmable inverter with dry contact terminals (like the axpert) can also work with this setup.

The dry contact device (in my case, the BMV because I already had one) is connected to the battery terminals in series with a 10,000+ Ohm resistor (to reduce the energisation current, we can't be wasting precious battery power), as well as a normally-open DC-AC solid state relay (SSR). I chose a normally-open relay because I only want current passing through it when needed, as opposed to all the time.

When the BMV DOD condition activates the relay, the SSR is energized and triggers the AC contactor (AC/AC) which is a normally-closed device. When the contactor is energized, the load circuit is interrupted and all output from the inverter is cut off. No matter who is watching TV at the time. Trust me, this pisses off The SWAMBO all the time but I need to save my batteries.

The BMV relay only resets when the SOC rises back to a set value (this is configurable too) and then all loads are restored.

@niyi and all, I came to China for a program, while moving around, I came across this hybrid inverter
http://www.mustpower.com/pv1800-hm-mppt-series-high-frequency-off-grid-solar-inverter-2-3kva/
Am buying the 3kva from the factory. What's your opinion pls

Based on the looks and form factor, as well as the fact that it uses WatchPower as it's control software, I can conclude that it's a re-branded Axpert-based inverter (other rebrands are IPowerPlus, MPPSolar, GennexTech).

They are very good inverters (and i can swear by them). I've used two axperts so far - I dropped the 24V model because I wanted a 48V system. The only issues I can see are:
* Axperts dont deal well with loads over 50% capacity, especially where most of the load is coming from a heating device (iron, oven, water heater etc)
* The hybrids manufactured before 2016 suffer from the 'premature float bug' where the inverter jumps to float after spending just a few seconds/minutes in absorb. While there's a firmware with a bug fix available on the internet for the 5kVA/48V models, I haven't seen such a fix for any of the other models. It's not a problem for me because I use an external Charge Controller.

hi house. I have a question
there are 6 no's 300w panels.(imp :8.24amp, Vmp : 36.7v, VOC: 44.06v) and two MPPT controllers available. system is to run on 48v. according to gleanings from the forum:

fangpusun prefers 2s*3p : total string current : 8.24*3= 24.72a

TriStar/epever prefer 3s*2p: total string current:16.48a

which will offer more MPPT Current under the same light conditions?

Mr Niyi
George D.
kiekie,
makavele
Oga Chris
JUO
anyone who has tried it the comparison, kindly advise
Thanks!!

In either case, the output MPPT current really depends on the controller's DC-DC conversion efficiency because your input power will still be the same no matter which controller you use. if you don't have any shading issues, go with the 3s2p.

Gentelmen - A humbel request
Is it possible to start quoting WH or KWH numbers - The Ah are difficult to digest without context ( battery bank , panels configuration etc)

e.g 250 watt panel on 12 V batttery is max 20 Ah(per hour) on battery side so Battery Ah will be very high in contract to 250 watt on 48 V battery ( 5 Ah ( per hour max)

on Panel side Ah if the 3 no.s of 250 watt panels are in sries they will yeild approx 8 Ah max per hour
the same 3 no of of panels in partallel will Yeild appox 24 Ah ( per hour)

Wh removes all the confusion as it remains same irrespective of battery or panel configuartion with minor effect on battery side due to CC effciency

A better no to quaote is KWH/KWp which is neutral to system configuration of amount of installed panels

Well noted for subsequent posts

That is why I said 'experiment' - I nor wan make Oga Sinistrian stress himself - when he sees the improvement and/or performance difference then he would be convinced and can get a dedicated DC fan.

I used to overclock computer CPU's so i know how important the fan is cool In fact i have already ordered a 48V dc fan from aliexpress so I can connect the terminals directly to my busbars. The MorningStar heatsink temperature is currently 51°C, when it's doing the most work.

But man I still can't believe the output I am seeing: 69Ah generated and it's not even 12 noon yet ... shocked shocked

Kindly do a new comparison, this one is not fair on the old system. Y?
Cos u have added 900w extra! The old one had a 72.5% efficiency and new one is around 70.3%. So discharge ur batteries to about 50-55% DoD and let see the new stats.

Lovely setup though, enjoy it.

Updated stats:
Even though today started hazy and there was initially poor output, the sun came out in full force by 8:30am
max power = 2,354W out of 2,700W
max current = 32.64A
energy generated = 186AH
Charge from 49.1% at 7am to 98.8% by 2pm, even with full house load on
