Welcome to the Nigerian health care sector. The above by poster occurs routinely 24/7. As a doctor, you will have to donate blood, pay for drugs, etc for patients. At the end of the day you are broke. Meanwhile most of the patients will die because they let their illness go to far before coming in waiting for money from this or that relative. No one including doctors can confidently say they know which services each clinic provides because there is no healthcare directory. So we send patients on a wild goose chase in the name of referral. I have worked in rural America in the middle of no where and I had a comprehensive directory that list all the healthcare services provided by each facility. You need dialysis go to XYZ, trauma care ABC hospital etc. Until the government comes up with a system for prepaid healthcare for everyone, I will rather soak gari than practice medicine in Nigeria again. It was just to draining emotionally. @poster Thank you from all of us. |
My family members have married from all over the world in the last 60 years even when Nigerians where not marrying from other tribes. These marriages lasted and are still going strong. My grandfather (Yourba) married a woman from Sierra Leone the other grandfather(Isoko) married Onitsha woman. Our parents generation brought spouses from across the Niger River (West and North) and all over Africa. Our generation has expanded the family to include Americans and Philippinos. Me, I followed the trend and married a Northerner 20 years ago. We are all God's children. You can get a good (or bad) spouse from anywhere in the world. As long as both of you are willing to understand each other and can communicate effectively, nothing spoil. |
To determine if these boys are students in ABSU or not, one first has to know who they are. Until their identities are established no one can say with any confidence that they are not students of the school. Posting anything on the internet or sending messages to cellphones is not as anonymous as we think. If the police are serious, they will find these boys. Until then the VC and governor can feel free to SHUT UP. |
Having a wedding party and being married are not the same thing. You can have a wedding and not be married if your spouse is still legally married to someone else anywhere in the world. The wedding party is just a social event and having children with a man after having a wedding party does not make you married to him. To all the women out there, make sure you register your "wedding" (traditional, church, mosque etc) with the courts to make it legal. If you cannot produce a marriage certificate, your marriage get K-leg in the eyes of the law. This is becoming increasingly important in our generation. Just ask a lawyer or those getting divorced or those whose "husbands" died prematurely. Educate yourself. Knowledge nah power. |
