The heat generated by the 2015 general election in Nigeria, I consider it unwarranted because of its similarity in character to the 2011 General Election. The same Gen. Muhammd Buhari is the major opposition candidate in 2015 as it was in 2011 against the same and sitting President Goodluck Jonathan. The same INEC under the Chairmanship of Proffessor Attahiru Jega who is set to conduct the 2015 election also conducted the 2011 election that was considered won by the President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (GEJ) free and fair.

The only thing that has changed in the equation is that dissatisfied Nigerians with the performance of the President have decided to switch their support to General Muhammed Buhari (GMB). This has manifested in the massive support GMB recieved in its nationwide rallies and the over 75% successes he recieved on online polls/survey so far conducted. In view of the imminent defeat of the current President at the polls, the tax payers money has to be used to fight the people through the sponsorship of a series of campaign to;

1. shift election dates that was set abinitio
2. discredit and remove the INEC chairman hitherto conducted free and fair election
3. disqualify and drop PVC for which GEJ said he should be commended for what OBJ could not complete
4. promote GMB media hate campaign that was not seen in the 2011 election
5. prosecute GMB certificate saga that was not an issue in 2011 election
6. fight insurgency within 6 weeks that could not be fought in 6 years
7. disbursement of billions of naira to buy Pastors, Traditional rulers, Federal law makers, media houses, Civil Society Groups support that were not appropriated for and at the expense of our social infrastructural decay.

In view of these unwieldy powers of the sitting President and the burden it constitutes as a candidate during elections, is it not time nigerians considers a constitutional amendment that makes a candidate President steps down for a re-election for sanity to reign during elections and provide a level playing fields to all aspirants?
