They’ve lived 103 years and for twins Charlotte Eisgrou and Ann Primack, life is beautiful! The sisters recently celebrated their born day in Florida, and are still at the best of health despite the number of candles on their cake. “I feel wonderful. I have all my faculties,” Eisgrou told the Daytona Beach News-Journal. Though not together for birthday celebration, they still remain the best of pals since being born in Chi-town and wrapped up in blankets, placed on top of the stove in 1909 pre-incubators, the Daily Mail reports. Still, they find their age a shocker. “I can’t believe it, that I’ve reached that age. The good thing is our minds are sharp. That’s the only good thing,” Primack told ABC News. Amazingly, the two golden girls continue to live almost independently. Eisgrou started driving at 78 and didn’t stop till four years ago while Primack survived ovarian cancer years ago. They also have their sense of humour intact, recalling how they would often swap husbands upon visits to one another. “I used to visit Daytona and we’d switch husbands and walk in the temple,” Primack said, “And they’d say to me, ‘Charlotte, you look so good.’” “Nobody ever knew the difference. And by the time they found out, they were hysterical,” Eisgrou told ABC. “We had so much fun.” Source: http://www.informationng.com/2013/01/oldest-living-identical-twins-turn-103.html

A 22-year old girl, Felicia Ndon, has allegedly committed suicide by drinking a highly potent pesticide called Gamalin 20. According to sources, this followed a misunderstanding with her aunt, Agnes, with whom she was living in Ikom, central Cross River State, Nigeria. A large crowd gathered on Saturday afternoon at the scene of the incident. The girl, who wrote the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination in May 2012 at the Government Secondary School, Ikom, was a long standing maid to Agnes, the younger sister to the father of the deceased. “She had been living with me since she was three when her father died and I have been treating her as my daughter,” Agnes said while sobbing. The girl was said to have taken offence when her aunt scolded her for coming back late from the market. “I did not do anything to her. I just threw an empty water jog on her for staying too long in the market and she ran away,” Agnes further told our correspondent. Agnes said she thought Felicia had gone to her restaurant near the Ikom Motor park where she assisted her in serving food “but she went straight and bought Gamalin 20 and went to the house and drank it.” She said it was when the girl failed to come back after about an hour that she sent one of the girls staying with her to look for her and when she got home “she saw Felicia lying on the floor and called me and I rushed home and immediately took her to the hospital but it was too late.” The body of the dead girl, which was wrapped in a native mat and put in the boot of a golf car with her legs dangling outside, was taken to Obubra their birthplace for burial. Asked if she reported the incident to the police before taking the girl for burial in the village, she retorted in pidgin English: “Police go wake am up?” (meaning will the police wake her up?). One of the sympathizers who was also shedding tears profusely said the lady was always kind to her niece and wondered why the girl had to take her own life for whatever reason. Now, this is one hilarious and daring news to set off your Sunday on a good footing. Akon was in Cross River state to perform at the annual Calabar Carnival along side Psquare, MayD and Jmartins. The Senegalese born American R & B superstar was busy doing his performance inside the UJ Esuene stadium when he noticed a group of boys fighting and asked them to stop. According to what we gathered, the singer threatened to go through the mammoth crowd to settle the fight if they wouldn’t stop but the fighting group were too busy drawing blood to listen and before the fans knew what was happening, Akon had jumped into the crowd even as his bodyguards were taken by surprise. He reportedly kept screaming “Lift me up..ama go out there, take me there.” Instead of lifting him to where the fight was taking place, the crowd was more interested in stripping him of his belt and the left leg of his shoe. By the time his bodyguards reached him, his belt buckle was gone too. Not one to give up easily, Akon went back stage and to the crowd’s bewilderment, the singer got into some kind of protective balloon, stood on stage and then suddenly leapt into the crowd, shielded by that balloon as the crowd kept throwing him around the stadium like a ball. Eventually, he fulfilled his mission and the Calabar crowd steered him safely back towards the stage where he came out of the balloon sending the crowd into a wild frenzy. http://www.informationnigeria.org/2012/12/photos-akons-unbelievable-peace-moves-in-calabar.html

Weighing just FOUR stone, extreme anorexic Valeria Levitin is thought to be the thinnest woman in the world. Her malnourished figure and matchstick-thin thighs should serve as a stark warning about the dangers of eating disorders. But worryingly, Valeria says she gets FAN MAIL from girls desperate to copy her skeletal look. The 39-year-old says: “I have received emails from young girls who want me to teach them how to be like me”. “All the letters I’ve had are from women, mainly in their twenties, who see me as some kind of inspiration” “This is why I want to campaign against anorexia. I am not going to teach them how to die. It is not a game, it is not a joke, it is your life”. Valeria, who developed her eating disorder as a teenager, has chosen to speak out about how the illness has ruined her life — and how she is desperate to win her battle in order to have a family. “I want to share my story to help sufferers and their families from repeating my fate”, says Valeria, who is originally from Russia but now lives in Monaco. “I want young people to live happy, healthy and meaningful lives. Anorexia has made me lonely, unattractive and repulsive for the people around me.” 5ft 8in, Valeria’s weight should be between 9st and 12st, according to NHS advice. Instead she is a horrifying 4st 3lbs, less than HALF of what her lightest healthy weight should be. At 16, and weighing 10st, Valeria moved to Chicago, USA, with her mum and stepdad. The move brought even more pressure to be slim. She said: “The environment was very different. I wanted to be liked everyone and I thought that if I lost weight, I would be accepted”. “I started cutting out certain foods from my diet — I wouldn’t eat sugar or carbohydrates”. “I became trapped in a vicious circle where I needed to lose more weight to feel happy with myself”. “Now it’s almost impossible to put the weight I’ve lost back on because my body can’t process many foods”. When a classmate made a cruel comment about Valeria’s figure, she became even more determined to lose weight. She explains: “We were playing football and during the game a man said, ‘I know how we can win. We need to put Valeria’s big ar*e in the goal’. It shattered my whole world”. By the time she was 23, Valeria’s dress size had plummeted from a healthy size 12 to a tiny size six. And attempts at getting into modelling only made matters worse — because she was told she was STILL too fat. Valeria’s passion was ballet and she dreamed of becoming a dancer. But at 24, and weighing just 6st, she was banned from dancing over concerns she would injure herself. For the next ten years she saw more than 30 health specialists, though once dipped to a dangerously low 3st 10lbs. She says now: “This disease is not about being cured by a doctor”. “It’s a deeper problem than that; it’s a lack of harmony between body and soul. I never gained any weight seeing specialists. I have never been hospitalised. “The best cure I ever found was when I said to myself, ‘I’m going to recover”. “I was feeling better and when you feel better your body starts to come back to normal. When you become healthier your body will start eating, not vice versa. “You don’t force yourself to eat then become better, it’s not like that”. Today she takes supplements to counter the risk of bruising and avoids situations where she could fall. Now Valeria believes the solution could lie in moving back to Moscow. There is one incentive to get well again — having a baby via a surrogate. It is something she feels she can do if she can get herself healthy. “I think moving back to Moscow would help me once again feel at ease with myself”, she says. “I would love to have a family because I feel I have so much to give”. “But obviously it wouldn’t be right to have a baby when I am ill. It wouldn’t be fair on the child”. “I want to stand up to anorexia. I’ve never given up on anything in my life and I’m not about to give up now”. “I must win, in order to feel that my life hasn’t been wasted”.

Some footballers don’t have the mental capacity to think of anything else apart from football. You can see the look in Wayne Rooney‘s eyes whilst he’s being interviewed or walking around Manchester in his casual hoodies that all that’s going on behind his pretty blue eyes is Football, Football, Football. Other footballers, perhaps with a higher IQ than Rooney’s, have managed to venture past the world of football and moved on into other careers, much like how England cricket legend Freddie Flintoff has now begun the transition towards becoming a fully-fledged heavyweight boxer, license and all. It remains to be seen whether Flintoff will be a success, go down fighting, or simply get punched really hard in the face seconds into his first fight and realise it was all a terrible idea. Here are some footballers who have had ulterior careers away from the football pitch, some successful, some unsuccessful, but many of them hilarious. Roman Pavlyuchenko Roman Pavlyuchenko Former Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko also has a flourishing career in politics. In Russia he is a city council representative of Stavropol, and is a member of Vladimir Putin’s “United Russia” party. Upon winning the seat in 2008, the Russian international told reporters: “Because of my profession it won’t be easy for me to take part directly in the workings of the city council – but I am ready to help with advice and with a concrete contribution to the development possibilities for exercise and sport.” He probably won’t be leading a coup d’etat to take control of the Kremlin any time soon. Geoff Horsfield The powerful target man that is Geoff Horsfield, who played for the likes of Fulham, Birmingham and West Brom, didn’t have the easiest of careers, especially in the early years. After failing to make it through the trails for hometown club Barnsley, the forward took up a college course in Bricklaying. Horsfield continued to work as a brickie while playing non-league football. Rather heroically, he netted 30 in 40 during his second spell at Halifax town, clinching them promotion into the football league, and thus allowing the club to offer Horsfield a full-time contract so he could finally lay his trowel to rest and stop doing his back in whilst mixing cement. Terry Venables Terry Venables is well known for being a competent football manager, but off the pitch El Tel had a number of business interests. As well as becoming Managing Director of QPR and Chairman at Tottenham, he also owned a nightclub. Unfortunately for the former England manager, he was banned from acting as a company director for seven years in 1998 after a case made by the Department of Trade and Industry proved instances of bribery, deception, manipulation of accounts and taking money owed to creditors. Venables has also entered into the world of writing, and is the co-creator of ITV series “Hazell”, working with Gordon Williams to produce four novels based on the same character. In 1990, he also came up with the predecessor to football management computer games with a board game version of the same concept. Robbie Fowler Robbie Fowler is one of the richest footballers in the world and was named as one of the 1,000 wealthiest Britons in 2005. This was not due to of any particularly large wage offers made to him by Liverpool, Manchester City or Leeds during his playing days, but because he is also a well-known property mogul. Fowler owns over 80 properties, in addition to other business interests, including several racehorses co-owned with former team-mate Steve McManaman and has a net worth valued at £28million. Socrates Socrates is known as one of Brazil’s most iconic players, but he also managed to become a Doctor of Medicine, studying for the degree while playing football. Furthermore, the former Brazil international who unfortunately passed away this time last year, was also heavily involved in politics. He started the Corinthians Democracy movement and influenced several of his team-mates to help him protest against the military government that controlled Brazil at the time. He also contributed to several newspapers and magazines, writing articles on Sports as well as Politics and Economics. Andy Cole The Premier League’s second highest all-time goalscorer Andrew Cole once tried to replace hitting the back of the net for hits in the chart when he released his first and only single “Outstanding” in 1999, back when he was just Andy. Of course, as you can imagine, it was not outstanding at all and failed to make it into the UK Top 40. Despite popular belief, the song was not actually written by Cole, and was a cover of The Gap Band’s 1982 hit. The Gap Band reached number 1 in the US RnB charts, which only highlights how awful the former Manchester United striker’s version truly was. Upon his transfer to Nottingham Forest in 2008, a small group of Forest fans attempted to get Cole’s flopped single re-released, not that the striker approved. The former England man told the Nottingham Evening Post he was not interested in restarting his music career: “I was a great deal younger when I made Outstanding and I can categorically say it will represent my one and only attempt to make an impression in the world of music.” Morten Gamst Pedersen Have you ever wondered why Morten Gamst Pedersen always seems to have very snazzy, boybandish hair? Well it’s because the Blackburn Rovers man is actually in a boy band, known as “The Players”. The Norwegian Pop outfit have only recorded one song, a charity single entitled This is for Real, as part of the Red Cross campaign Soccer against Crime. There are five members of “The Players”, who are all footballers. The other four are Freddy Dos Santos, Raymond Kvisvik, Kristopher Haestad and Oyvind Svenning. Pedersen is not the only footballer-come-singer set to appear in this list, but he is arguably the most successful. The single swept across Scandinavia, giving the midfielder a career to fall back on if it all goes wrong for him in the Championship. Vinnie Jones After retiring from the game, Vinnie got a job in acting, essentially being Vinnie Jones. The former Wimbledon, Chelsea and Leeds midfielder has featured in 66 films and TV shows according to IMDB, including a debut in Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, and a leading role in Mean Machine. Jones has also appeared in WWE, back when it was WWF in 1998 as a Special Enforcer, taking on the Big Boss Man and subsequentially issuing him a Red Card. In 2007, Jones returned to the ring to tell Wrestling fans he had “kicked Stone Cold’s Arse” on the set of The Condemned – a film in which both hard men featured. Aside from acting and wrestling (although they could be counted as the same thing), the former Wales international has also released a Blues and Soul album in 2002 with covers of classics such as “Bad Bad Leroy Brown”. Something tells me there is a reason Vinnie hasn’t released another album since. Theo Walcott Theo Walcott Unlike many other footballers who have gone on to release autobiographies, for example Wayne Rooney’s five year book deal in which his second publication “Wayne Rooney – My decade in the Premier League” sold just 6,000 copies in the first six weeks prior to its release, Theo Walcott has gone for a far subtler approach. The Arsenal winger has released a series of children’s books based around the semi-fictional “T.J.”, a young school-boy taking the playground and school team by storm with his goal-scoring abilities. The England international has now released four books; “T.J. and the Hat-trick”, “T.J. and the Penalty”, “T.J. and the Cup Run” and “T.J. and the winning goal”. Some of the issues tackled in the books include T.J.’s best friend becoming overweight and being dropped by the school team’s coach due to a lack of fitness, former star player Tulsi considering quitting the school team after being left behind as the rest of the players progress as footballers, and a new teacher taking over as coach and imposing terrible tactics weeks before the semi-final in the youth cup. Mat Mitchel-King The AFC Wimbledon player has moonlighted as a model in the past, and was used as Rio Ferdinand’s body double while playing for Conference North side Histon. Mitchel-King gave up his second career after being offered a professional contract by Crewe Alexandra. The defender and midfielder initially worked for Armani after being scouted walking down Oxford street. “I thought I was going to be a millionaire in my first year, but it didn’t work out like that,” Mitchel-King told reporters upon signing for Crewe in 2009. “I am Rio Ferdinand’s official body double, I think my rates are a bit cheaper than his,” he added. Clint Dempsey Dempsey Tottenham forward Clint Dempsey is another footballer to dip into the world of music. Recording under the name Deuce, Dempsey is a part-time rapper, and teams up with fellow Texan hip-hoppers XO and Big Hawk to form the “Screwed Up Click”. The rap group featured on the track “Don’t Tread”, used by Nike in an american advertising campaign for the 2006 World Cup. There’s every chance the USA international could be returning to the mic as his Tottenham career has suffered a somewhat false start. David Ginola David Ginola’s post-football career is largely unsurprising. What else would a suave, wealthy and incredibly French Frenchman do apart from becoming a Winemaker. The former Newcastle and Tottenham midfielder even won a silver medal at the 2008 International Wine Challenge for a Rose produced at his vineyard in Provence. Anthony Lapaglia Better known for his acting than his footballing, Anthony Lapaglia is a major US Television actor and has starred in Without a Trace, Frasier, and Murder One, as well as doing voice work for Happy Feet and Happy Feet Two. But what is less known about the Aussie actor is he was once a goalkeeper for Adelaide City and West Adelaide in the 1980s. Lapaglia is now part-owner of Sydney FC, and is Club President of Hollywood United, an amateur team made of former footballers living in Hollywood including Vinnie Jones and Frank Leboeuf, accompanied by lesser footballing talents Steve Jones from the Sex Pistols, actor Jason Statham and film director Danny Cannon. Eric Cantona Eric Cantona Eric Cantona is a Manchester United and Premier League legend, but following his early retirement from football in 1997, Cantona threw himself into the film industry. Cantona has now appeared in 21 movies, although initially only appearing as a footballer in films such as “Eleven men against Eleven”, which he was not credited for. After a few years however, The King’s career really took off as he starred in Looking For Eric, in which Cantona plays himself and is a central character in the off-beat comedy. He also features in the interestingly titled 2012 French film “Porn in the hood”. Aside from film, the former United forward also has an interest in politics and tried to stage a social revolution by telling customers from high-street banks to withdraw their funds in protest to the Global banking crisis in 2010. Gica Popescu Gica Popescu is a former Barcelona captain, and played for Tottenham, PSV and Galatasaray. But as well as being a top-level footballer, the defender was also a part time spy in his native Romania. In his early career, Popescu was approached by the Securitate and was expected to supply the Romanian secret police with information based on Universitatea Craiova’s runs in the UEFA cup, and also grass up any team-mates who could become defectors. What remains to be discovered is whether Popescu’s loan to Steaua Bucuresti, the Romanian Army’s football team, in 1988, was a direct attempt by the Securitate to ignite an implosion of the club and the armed forces as part of the ongoing struggle for power on the Romanian political scene. The painting is called “Truth” – and shows the president with his arms outstretched. A crown of thorns rests on his head. It was originally supposed to debut nearly four years ago at New York City’s Union Square. But that event was cancelled due to public outrage. In the piece, by Michael D’Antuono, the President is shown wearing a suit and red tie with his arms outstretched. But instead of actually being nailed to a cross like Jesus, Mr Obama’s arms are extended drawing back a blue curtain. He has a crown of thorns resting on his head. According to Michael D’Antuono…… ‘I always regretted cancelling my exhibit in New York because I feel my First Amendment rights should override someone’s hurt feelings,’ Mr D’Antuono told Fox News.

An unfortunate end it was for one Mr. Gabriel Agochi of Ndok in Ishibori, Ogoja Local Government Area of Cross River State when he allegedly slaughtered himself with a machete because he couldn’t repay a loan granted him by a local thrift association. Google Image Agochi who was said to be in his mid 40s and a transport operator residing in Agiga in Ogoja Local Government of the state until his death, had a transport company with a fleet of three golf cars. It was gathered that Agochi wanted to take advantage of the ember months to make brisk money thus he allegedly approached the local thrift association, Agiga Ususu Association, to collect a loan of N600,000 (six hundred thousand naira) to enable him add to the number of cars in his fleet. A member of the association and close fried of the deceased who gave his name as Mike said Gabriel “had one golf car with which he was operating his business but early this year he came to us and got the sum of N600,000 to add with his own and bought Volkswagen golf car.” He said that instead of him to repay the N600,000 loan he collected from the thrift association, he went ahead and bought another golf in September to add to his fleet of cars in readiness for the December rush. However, nature had other plans as the Ogoja-Calabar highway which is already in a state of pathetic disrepair, was further devastated leading to low returns from the cars which made it impossible to keep to the terms of paying back the loan as agreed. The association it was gathered had notified him about two weeks ago that it was their tradition to share their money in the last week of November so that members can plan for Christmas which is the principal reason for the thrift and that the interest his loan accrued was N200, 000 making it a total of N800, 000 to be paid to the association. The deceased reportedly made frantic efforts to raise the money to no avail and in a final attempt, he called his elder brother who works in Abuja to come to his rescue, but got a November ending date for respite. Gabriel according to sources was said to have told his brother that if he failed to respond soon, he might not meet him, a remark which the sources claimed irked his brother who wanted to know “where he was leaving to.” But on Tuesday last week, Gabriel allegedly picked his machete and headed towards the backyard, when his wife asked him what he wanted to do with the machete, he reportedly told her that he wanted to clear grass at the back yard. A neighbor who gave her name as Jacinta said, “It was there he used the sharp knife to tear his throat and started to bleed heavily. When his phone rang and his wife went it to the backyard to give to him that she saw the man on the ground bleeding and she shouted for help.” He was rushed to the hospital but died few hours after and his body was deposited at the Ogoja General Hospital mortuary. “There is more than meets the eye in that suicide case. Said a police source in Ogoja Divisional Police Station said. “A man with three cars and lives in his own house cannot sell one of those to pay his debts but had to cut himself with a machete. We are still investigating the matter any way” the source added. Source:http://www.informationnigeria.org/2012/11/strange-man-with-3-cars-slits-own-throat-over-n800000-debt-in-ogoja.html#respond |
Six men accused of being ‘Israeli spies’ were dragged through the streets of Gaza City and executed in front of a chanting mob today as Israel warned Palestinians to evacuate some areas of the territory in apparent preparation for a ground invasion. Witnesses said the six were taken to an intersection in the north of the city where they were summarily shot for providing intelligence that helped Israel pinpoint key figures in Hamas and the Islamic Jihad targeted by their warplanes. The names of the men are said to have been scrawled on the road after they had been questioned by Hamas security officials about who provided the ‘human intelligence’ necessary to pinpoint targets for ‘precision’ attacks that have 118 Palestinians – half civilians, including women and children, dead – in seven days of military operations. Hamas Aqsa radio quoted a security official as saying the men had been ‘caught red handed’ with ‘hi-tech equipment and filming equipment to take footage of positions.’ Gunmen chained the body of one of the alleged collaborators to a motorcycle and dragged it throughout the main streets of Gaza City in a warning to others who ‘betrayed’ Palestinians. The executions came as Israel carried out more than 150 more strikes in Gaza and dropped leaflets in the heavily populated north and south of the city warning Palestinians to evacuate certain areas. The leaflets include a ‘grid’ of streets to be cleared, adding : ‘The Israel Defence Forces are not targeting any of you and they do not want to harm you or your families. For your safety, you are required to evacuate your residences immediately and move towards central Gaza city.’ The move was seen as preparation for a possible land offensive but also a means as increasing pressure on Hamas to give ground in its demands over the terms of a ceasefire agreement being brokered in Cairo through Egypt. Since this incident happened I've pondered and wondered what could have gone wrong that the four boys weren't bold enough to talk and challenge those who beat and paraded them in public, leading them to where they were eventually killed. Now the whole issue is clearer; the boys "ignorantly" got themselves involved with a cultist who operates with a gun, all in a bid to get their money back from a debtor. Below is what actually happened according to an insider.... An indigene of Aluu owed Ugo some money and had vowed not to pay back. Ugo who was popularly known as Tipsy had gone to meet with a fearless University guy (name withheld) to help them track the debtor who had been on the run. ‘Mr Fearless guy’ (a cultist) who was feared by many in the school ad accepted to accompany his friends to get the debtor tracked down in exchange for a percentage of the debt. They were joined by their room-mate, Chidiaka. On their way to the place, they met one of their friend, Tekena, who knew nothing about the plan, and he joined, just for the hype as is normal with young boys of juvenile age. That made 5 boys - Ugo, Lloyd, Chidiaka, Tekena and ‘Mr Fearless Guy’ that got to the debtor’s compound. Unknown to the other four, ‘Mr Fearless Guy’ who was contracted to intimidate the debtor just to get the money paid, went with a gun. When they got to the debtor’s house around 12am, a fight ensued, as the debtor confronted them. A next door neighbour, a woman started shouting on top of her voice, that they were thieves, attracting other bad boys around the area, whom were mainly “vikings”, the rival cult group of the one on contract. They swung into action by tipping the vigilante group who confronted the boys, referring to them as thieves. In the process of beating the boys, while they were trying to prove their innocence, the fifth boy, ‘Mr Fearless Guy’, who is a cultist, brought out his gun to scare the people, and he escaped, leaving the rest four at the mercy of the villagers. The explanation they tried to give fell on the community’s deaf ears as the people insisted they must be killed....and unfortunately they were lynched! Note:- this story is an eyewitness account from the 5th boy who escaped. He narrated this to Ugo and Lloyd’s friend who has pleaded that his identity be kept secret... A guy stayed close to a cemetery. He used to deceive okada riders and taxi drivers. He would simply stop at the cemetery junction with his nostrils filled with cotton wool and spoke horribly. This scared every driver and rider who wouldn't dare ask him for money. The guy did this for years and successfully deceived every driver and rider who were thinking he was a ghost. One evening the guy boarded an Okada, as usual stopped at the cemetery junction. My money!. The angry looking okada man demanded. With cotton wool stuffed in his nostril, he replied horribly; i don't have money!. The okada man would not take this from him, he kept insisting. The frustrated guy then said; ok, ok, follow me to my room in the cemetry and i will pay you. The okada man agreed and followed him till they got to a grave. The guy who wanted to scare the okada man away knocked on the grave and shouted; Martin! Martin! Martin! abeg give me N800 make i take pay this stubborn okada man. All of a sudden, a very big hand holding N1000 appeared out of the grave accompanied with a voice which said; Take! This na my last card. The guy and the okada man quickly took to their heels. |

To mark the 16th anniversary of the creation of Bayelsa State, the state government has announced its decision to immortalise late General Sani Abacha. It has concluded plans to lay the foundation stone for a 150 duplex housing estate which would be named after late General Abacha whose government created Bayelsa State as Head of State on the 1st of October, 1996. He shattered her world by murdering her mother, brother and nephew in 2008. But four years after, Jennifer Hudson has spoken out for the first time since her former brother-in-law William Balfour received three life sentences in July to reveal she has forgiven him. The Oscar-winning actress and singer also said she does not blame him entirely for his actions. When asked if she forgives him on last night’s episode of Oprah’s Next Chapter, the 30-year-old said: ‘Yes, because I feel like for the most part it’s not his fault. ‘It’s how he was brought up. We tried to offer love, but you were so far gone, that you couldn’t even see that. A lot of things came out, that we didn’t even know about, from his upbringing, which is like he never had a chance. Had you had the love my mother gave us, or the background that some have, then you would’ve stood a chance.’ The Dreamgirls star’s words of compassion come after she was devastated four years ago when her mother Darnell Donerson, brother Jason Hudson were gunned down in her hometown Chicago. Her seven-year-old nephew Julian King was reported missing from the home, but was found dead in the back of an abandoned SUV days later. And she admitted she did not know how to respond after suffering such massive loss. Balfour was sentenced to three life sentences without the possibility of parole, followed by 120 years for other crimes. Nigeria’s Super Eagles draw in Monrovia over the weekend may have come as a shock to her fans back home but it indeed calls for celebration as the Nigerian team escaped being poisoned by their host all in an attempt to edge out the Eagles from the Nations Cup holding in South Africa come 2013. It all started with the poor accommodation that the Liberian Football Federation had for the Nigerian team which was outrightly rejected as the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF quickly made another arrangement and when the host saw that they had failed in their first bid, they resorted to tempering with the water the team would drink. The Eagles had camped at the Golden Gate hotel after rejecting the sub standard hotel provided by the liberia fa, the team had to make an alternative arrangement for food through a Nigerian based in Monrovia to forestall any incident. It was gathered however that the Liberians deviced another strategy when they brought the bottled water which was discovered to have been laced with some substance. The water was kept outside the hotel for hours after the doctor acting on a tip off adviced that the water could not be drank as it would have had adverse effect on the players. A visibly shocked Chairman of the technical committee,Barrister Chris Green who displayed the water outside the hotel expressed shock and disappointment at the antics of the host team. “Can you believe it that those bottles of water were poisoned. Thank God that we decided not to take the water, otherwise we would have been in serious problem. I cannot believe that people can still be so uncivilized as to this. We have decided to send the water to our embassy who will decide on what to do with it. Source: The SUN (Nigeria) |

Craig Bellamy: 'I can't tell you how hard it is. It's the worst time in my life ever.' Footballer Craig Bellamy says the death of the former Wales manager Gary Speed has led to the "worst time in my life" and the break-up of his marriage. The Cardiff City and Wales player told the Sunday Mirror: "All I know is that my best mate has gone. I'm struggling." Ex-Premier League star Speed was found hanged at his Cheshire home last year. His parents and family members marked what would have been his 43rd birthday on Saturday with a walk up Moel Famau, Denbighshire, near his childhood home. Roger and Carol Speed told Wales on Sunday the family are still coming to terms with his death in November 2011. 'Affected everything' Bellamy, 33, whose former clubs include Liverpool and Manchester City, told the Sunday Mirror he has moved out of the marital home he shared with his wife Claire and their three children. He said: "Losing my best mate has affected everything. I can't believe how hard it is. "He was the best mate I've ever had. It's sad but unfortunately it got to my marriage. I'm here and she's there. "I don't know if that's it for us. All I know is that my best mate has gone. I'm struggling. I can't lie." Bellamy told the newspaper of his family situation: "I can't tell you how hard it is. It's the worst time in my life ever." Bellamy was part of the Team GB squad at the Olympics, and last month joined Cardiff on a two-year deal from Liverpool. Speed's clubs included Leeds, Newcastle, Everton, and Bolton, and he managed Sheffield United. A coroner at the inquest in January said he could not be satisfied that Speed intended to kill himself. http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-19536060
