As Nigerians continue to debate the possible breakup of the country, a new group has come out to advocate for Cross River and Akwa Ibom states to merge as one nation.

Dr Nsidibe Akata over the weekend declared his intention to represent Eket State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly. He made his intention known to his kinsmen during a town hall meeting of Okon clan in Nduo Eduo Community Hall, Eket.
Speaking also the political leader of Okon ward in Eket Local Government Area, Professor Etie Akpan has again reaffirmed that the Peoples Democratic Party remains the only political party in Eket Local Government Area .

He said "PDP is so rooted in Eket,Okon Development is PDP, Eket is PDP, Akwa Ibom is PDP "
He also charged the people of his ward to remain steadfast with Governor Udom Emmanuel as he is working hard to fulfill his campaign promises. "Remain steadfast with Governor Udom Emmanuel, He is working hard, salaries are paid as when due, ask civil servants from Kogi state, they are owed nine months of salary"

The professor also poured encomiums on Dr Nsidibe Akata over his sincere and humble nature which has made people of the area build trust in him "Dr Nsidibe Akata is a sincere and humble man, he is my direct product and can be trusted with public office"

Also speaking, a community woman leader in Nduo Eduo Okon Development 1 ward, Eket Lady Jane Akpan told Nduo Eduo Community that Dr Nsidibe Akata will work with Governor Udom Emmanuel come 2019 to ensure that he returns for a second term.

She also said the women are already praying and consulting for the House of Assembly aspiration of the Dr Nsidibe Akata. "We have started political consultation for our son, we shall pray for him and work for his dreams come 2019"

The village head of Nduo Eduo 1 Eteidung Obong Effiong Ben Akpan, while giving an open address thanked Dr. Nsidibe Akata for always giving back to the society.

In his remarks at the event Hon Sunday Uso, Chairman of PDP Ward chairmen and Central ward Chairman said he and the entire PDP faithfuls from Central Ward are in support of Dr. Nsidibe Akata. "We support the aspiration of Dr. Nsidibe Akata, this is because God has a hand in this cause" he said.

Reacting, Dr Akata thanked the people of his community for the show of love by his people. On the issue of his aspiration to represent Eket State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly come 2019, the Aspirant who holds a Ph.D in Petroleum Geology, a one- time Lecturer in Geology Dept., UNICAL, who also worked in Exxonmobil for over 18years accepted to throw his cap into the race which he believes with God and the people's support he will win.

Prayers were offered for the continuous peaceful co-existence of Okon people and the success of the Deacon Udom Emmanuel administration.
Dr. Akata donated 3.0Kva generator and 200 high-quality plastic chairs to the village council and promised to rehabilitate electrical installations in the village council hall.

Investigations arising from the success of the whistle blowing euphoria indicates that the new blocks of flats were located at Ikate-Eluguishi Lekki, in Lagos State.

The location of the cozy apartments was said to be a swampy and completely abandoned terrain which has been put to live following heavy investment of strong financial might and huge political will.

Nsima Ekere, the managing director of the Niger Delta Development Corporation, NDDC, is currently enmeshed in a financial mess that borders on lack of accountability and character, failure to honour and redeem a debt owed, and financial reckless that calls to question his capacity to play a role in executing President Muhammadu Buhari’s much vaunted war on corruption.

According to a court document exclusively obtained by The Trent, the NDDC boss, who is a former deputy governor of Akwa Ibom State, had defaulted on a credit facility in the amount of N27 million that the defunct Oceanic Bank, now Ecobank Plc, had granted him.

All efforts by the bank to recover the debt yielded no results, as Mr. Ekere had refused to honour his obligations to the financial institution. Ecobank recently posted a huge loss which its auditors attributed to bad loans.

Unable to recover the debt, Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria, AMCON, the receiver company had no other recourse but to take Mr. Ekere to court to recover the money.

The details of this case, as detailed in the court papers, paint the picture of a corrupt man who is deficient in transparency, morality, and probity, which has been the governing mantra of the Buhari-led government. This revelation about one of the president’s top appointees seriously puts to test his on-going war on corruption.

But for the last minute intervention of Nelson Effiong, Senator Ita Enang would have found himself on an Uyo bound aircraft, before the departure of President Muhamadu Buhari on his vacation.

Our reporter gathered exclusively that the Ibiono Ibom born lawyer, was blacklisted following a near breakdown in the relationship between the Presidency and the Upper legislative chambers.

With the series of cold face given to Mr President’s recent proposals at the red chambers, Enang who was recommended as a liaison between the Presidency and the Senate following his long sojourn in the national assembly is assumed to have failed in his duties.

Trouble started when Senator Enang’s sinister move led to the infamous ‘missing budget’ scandal of 2016, however the ill-famed decision of Ita Enang to witness against the Senate Deputy President and other senate leaders in the alleged forgery of the standing rules of the Senate led to a decision by the lawmakers to bar the former lawmaker from their chambers.

It was believed that the severed relationship between Ita Enang and the senators formed the basis for the rejection of President Buhari’s request for $30bn loan, as well as the rejection of non career ambassadorial nominations late last year.

As if this was not enough, Ita was also unable to garner support for the President from the lawmakers in the light of the nomination of Ibrahim Magu for confirmation as EFCC boss, and the indictment of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir David Lawal.



Investigations reveal that while plans were in top gear for the shopping of Enang’s replacement, he was quick to pull a fast one by convincing Senator Nelson Effiong to jump ship and get an automatic second term ticket for Eket Senatorial district, a ticket Effiong’s current poor run in the upper legislative chambers could not guarantee him.

Before the defection of Senator Nelson Effiong, Enang had been sidelined in the scheme of things, which accounts for his not being informed of the re-sending of Magu’s name to the senate for confirmation.
Enang dragged Nelson Effiong to the Presidency, as a bait he could use to create a political point for the APC in his homestate, especially since he hails from the Governor’s senatorial district, and after introducing him to a section of the ‘cabal’ in the Presidency, Effiong fell a victim of the blackmail and threw in the towel by jumping to the APC.

Unknown to Nelson, the only beneficiary of the political summersault is Ita Enang, while Senator Effiong has been left in the cold without any significant effort to integrate him into the APC family in Akwa Ibom State.
It would be recalled that the Senator Effiong’s recent political rally in his hometown turned out a big flop as no PDP state officer from either factions of the APC in Akwa Ibom showed up to receive him, leaving him in the hands of some hungry looking young people

APC COMMENDS BUHARI FOR DEVELOPING AKWA IBOM
…SUES SUPPORT FOR GOV EMMAANUEL

The Akwa Ibom state publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Engr. Ita Awak has expressed satisfaction with the achievements of the federal government in his home state.

Speaking in an exclusive radio interview in Uyo, Engr Awak said President Buhari has achieved what the PDP in sixteen years failed to achieve in the state.
Awak said that through projects and programmess, the APC-led federal government has made Akwa Ibom a better place for the citizenry.
He however failed to list the projects that were causing him so much excitement, but revealed the only person mandated to announce the projects is the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.
“I am very sure that Lai Mohammed will announce all the projects that are earmarked for inauguration during this year’s democracy day anniversary.”
The APC spokesperson lamented that no federal project came to Akwa Ibom throughout the reighn of PDP, whereas the Buhari led government has already promised to build a railroad from Lagos to Akwa Ibom.
While parrying questions bothering on fraud and other wrangling within his party in the state, Awak commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for his ability to convert the 10th anniversary Hotel into a modern office block complex.

SENATOR NELSON EFFIONG AND HIS MANY LIES (PART TWO)

LIE ONE: THERE IS AN UNRESOLVEABLE CRISIS AT THE NATIONAL LEVEL OF THE PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY, MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE PARTY TO HAVE A DIRECTION?
This is not only deceptive but also highly misleading. Yesterday, the national executive committee of the PDP and stakeholders met in Abuja under Alh. Ahmed Markafi. All state governors of the PDP led by the chairman of the PDP Governors’ forum, Mr Ayodele Fayose, national assembly members and state working committees were in attendance. Does this speak of a party that is in disarray? The leadership of Markafi is not only recognised by the BOT of the party, it also has the legal nod to produce candidates of the party in all elections in the country, instances at hand being the recent governorship election in Ondo and Edo states. In attendance were all PDP national assembly members from the state, the state chairman and entire state caucus members of the party were all in attendance led by the leader of the party and Governor, His Excellency Mr. Udom Emmanuel.

LIE TWO. THAT GOVERNOR EMMANUEL RECOGNISES ALH. MODU SHERIFF INSTEAD OF ALH. AHMED MARKAFI AS THE CHAIRMAN OF THE PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY AGAINST THE WISHES OF HIS NATIONAL ASSEMBLY MEMBERS?

The leader of the PDP in Akwa Ibom and Governor of the state, His Excellency Mr Udom Emmanuel led the delegation from the state including the state working committee under the chairmanship of Obong Paul Ekpo, his national lawmakers, and enlarged caucus members to the 73rd session of the PDP Executive committee and stakeholders meeting in Abuja. Mr Emmanuel sat with the National caretaker chairman of the party, Alh. Markafi as well as the chairman of the PDP Governorship Forum, Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State. This particular lie was captured dead on arrival.

LIE THREE: SENATOR NELSON EFFIONG HAS THE ENDORSEMENT OF HIS CONSTITUENTS FOR THE DEFECTION TO APC

Not only has the senator been widely condemned, he has also alienated himself from the constituents. His return to his hometown a week after his defection saw a paltry gathering of very few persons to receive him. No one from the political class, no one from the stakeholders’ cadre and none from elders’ forum came out to welcome him, after a widely publicized notice of his arrival. The senator was seen in available pictures dangling a dirty broom, in the midst of some obviously hired young children. It will also be on record that the miserably poor looking gathering is Senator Nelson Effiong's first attempt at meeting with any section of his constituents since his election in 2015.

LIE NUMBER FOUR: THERE IS DIVISION IN PDP, AND NO REASONABLE POLITICIAN WORTH HIS SALT WILL BELONG TO SUCH A PARTY. IN ORDER WORDS, APC IS A HAVEN.
There is a serious crisis that has threatened to engulf the All Progressives Congress in Akwa Ibom State. While the leader of the party in Akwa Ibom State, Senator John Udoedehe has purportedly been suspended by a faction of the APC, Chief Ita Awak and Mr Samuel Udobong are embroiled in a war on who is the authentic voice of the party in the state. Some APC state officers are on the run following the manhunt for the fake executive members at the State Secretariat of the party. Chief Don Etiebet and Senator Udoedehe are in a broil on who should be the leader of the party in the state. Is that the peaceful party that Nelson was eulogizing?

LIE FOUR: THAT AT A MEETING OF THEN GOVERNOR GODSWILL AKPABIO WITH STAKEHOLDERS OF ORO NATION, THERE WAS AN AGREEMENT THAT UDOM EMMANUEL WILL BE GOVERNOR FOR ONE TERM, AFTER WHICH AN ORO SON WILL TAKE OVER.
In 2014, when Mr Udom Emmanuel was busy on consultations with the different ethnic, political and socio-cultural groups in the state, Chief Nelson Effiong was busy hobnobbing with the state opposition party, APC. He was at the time campaigning to foist the Uyo senatorial district born governorship candidate of the APC, as the best hand to lead the state. Their slogan was, “there is no capable hand in Eket senatorial district that can govern the state. Perhaps he should tell Akwa Ibom people if he also agreed that Umana Umana should be Governor for only one term if elected.

LIE FIVE: GOVERNOR EMMANUEL HAS FAILED TO UNITE AND MOVE THE STATE PDP FORWARD BY NOT GIVING THE MEMBERS ADEQUATE ATTENTION
During the last Christmas celebrations, the State Governor met at different scenarios with different party stakeholders, executive committee members and caucus members. This great harmony and unity of the party under the leadership of the governor accounts for the emergence of the State Chairman of the Party, Chief Paul Ekpo as the new chairman of the Forum of Chapter chairmen of the PDP in Nigeria.

NELSON EFFIONG AND HIS MANY LIES (PART ONE)

How many people listened to that interview by Nelson Effiong? He has passed as a liar. At least his people from Oro nation, have come out to label him a big time liar out there to achieve selfish interests and nothing more. It is not a common sight, for a people to come out and publicly disown their own son, occupying such an exalted position as their highest political office holder. Yet this man has been openly accused of being a blatant liar, a conman, a traitor and an egocentric being.

LIE NUMBER ONE: GOVERNOR UDOM EMMANUEL SUPPORTS ALI MODU SHERIFF INSTEAD OF AHMED MARKAFI AS CHAIRMAN OF PDP:

This is a big lie. Nelson knows that the sudden arrival of the former chairman of PDP during the state’s anniversary was a surprise to everyone. Throughout the ceremonies, at no time was Sheriff addressed as the national chairman of the party. Even the Governor addressed him as a friend of the State, a former governor, a former senator, a former party chairman and a lover of peace. Effiong sees and knows that Governor Emmanuel has been attending meetings of the PDP at the instance of Ahmed Markaffi as Caretaker Chairman. He has never seen Governor Emmanuel in a meeting convened by the faction of Ali Modu Sheriff, yet blatantly lies that Udom Emmanuel supports Sheriff. Few days ago, the Secretary of the caretaker committee of the PDP(Markaffi’s Secretary) came visiting on behalf of the party national working committee, Effiong is not blind to all of these.

LIE NUMBER TWO: GOVERNOR UDOM HAD AN AGREEMENT WITH ORO NATION TO HOLD OFFICE FOR ONLY ONE TERM IN THE PRESENCE OF FORMER GOVERNOR GODSWILL AKPABIO

Several prominent Oro leaders and stakeholders have said in several fora have asserted that no such agreement was reached at any meeting. And they have gone ahead to endorse Governor Emmanuel for a second term. Former Governor Godswill Akpabio has repeatedly canvassed support for Governor Emmanuel to complete two terms in office. Was Nelson Effiong the only Oro son in the said meeting or he is just trying to fly a baseless ethnic card to cause confusion in the state? This is one lie too many in view of the interview he (Effiong) granted six months ago in Milestone Magazine that Governor Emmanuel has shown capacity as governor and should be supported for two terms in office.

LIE NUMBER THREE: GOVERNOR EMMANUEL DOES NOT MEET NATIONAL ASSEMBLY CAUCUS MEMBERS TO DISCUSS ABOUT THE STATE:

Big lie, there is a regular interface between the governor and the State national assembly members and other stakeholders of the state under different aegis. Just last December, Senator Effiong was among the other enlarged caucus members of the PDP who met with Governor Emmanuel at Government House, for someone who nursed an ambition to defect, and who was aggrieved, there wouldn’t have been a better platform to voice out his pains. He had the microphone and had the floor. Yet he heaped praises on Governor Emmanuel and the PDP leadership in the state, only to summersault few days later with bare face lies.

LIE NUMBER FOUR: SENATOR EFFIONG TOOK HIS DECISION AFTER CONSULTING AND GETTING THE NOD OF HIS CONSTITUENTS:

Nelson has not held one meeting with any section of his constituency since being sworn into office in June 2015. All the stakeholders and elders in Akwa Ibom South(Eket) Senatorial Districts have not only condemned the defection, they have also queried the unilateral decision by Chief Effiong. So it is common knowledge that although he is supposed to call for meetings in his senatorial district he avoided such responsibilities. According to one of the elders who spoke to the press recently, “It almost got to a point we the stakeholders would have convened a meeting and invited him. Maybe he had a premonition of that coming. We were to call a meeting, sponsor it, invite him and announce it in the media and see whether he wouldn’t come, but now he has run away.” If Nelson insists that he had consulted his constituency, he should open up and explain that his constituency which probably is Abuja or the APC is different from Eket Senatorial district or the Oro people that have all distanced themselves from his inactions.

Akwa Ibom Oil Producing Communities Demand NDDC MD Post
Youths in Akwa Ibom state under the aegis of Coalition of Akwa Ibom Oil Producing Communities Network (CAOPCYN) have threatened to stop at nothing until the alleged injustice against their communities is addressed.

They among other things demanded that President Muhammadu Buhari immediately appoints an indigene from the core oil producing communities in Akwa Ibom as the next Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to complete the tenure of the sacked Barr. Bassey Dan Abia who was ejected seven months ago.
The group in a communique available to our newsdesk stated that Akwa Ibom state being the highest oil producing state in the Niger Delta region which has not been affected by renewed militancy deserves a better treatment from the President Buhari administration.
According to the Coordinator of the group, Comrade Umo David Etukudo, the peace experienced in the core oil producing communities in the state which has ensured that despite the surge in attacks in other states of the region the crude oil production level has not dipped below 1.9million barrels per day should not be taken for granted by the federal government.
He stated that while they are in support of a dialogue with militants in the region by the Federal government, Akwa Ibom remains the backbone of the nation’s oil and gas industry and should not be neglected but considered in all appointments by the Buhari administration, especially at the NDDC.
"We are dismayed that despite the huge contributions of our state to the nation's economy, none of our prominent sons was considered in the just reconstituted Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and other federal commissions and agencies so far set up."
The group also described as unacceptable, those touted by miscreants as possible contenders for the board of the NDDC by the President, like the former governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state; Umana Okon Umana and other political gladiators who are not from the oil producing areas and as such should not be mentioned.
They averred that apart from lacking the credibility and capacity to deliver the much needed change to the region’s fortune and infrastructure the politicians represent injustice to the "goose that lays the golden eggs," and demanded that only citizens from the core oil producing communities in the state with the character, competence and charisma to deliver on the mandate of the NDDC should be appointed by the President.
According to the youths, the appointment to the NDDC board should not be a reward for failed politicians in the state under the APC umbrella, but should be made based on the capacity of the appointee to elevate the welfare of the people in the region through transparent and visionary projects and programmes.
They also stated that failure to meet the demands by the group might lead to another wave of hostilities from the region especially from oil producing communities in Akwa Ibom state who feel marginalized by the government in allocation of resources already.

The Akwa Ibom State government has taken steps to meet the demands of civil servants in the state bordering on their welfare.

Honorary Special Adviser to the governor on Labour Matters, Comrade Unyime Usoro, stated this on Sixty Minutes Live, the Atlantic FM audience participatory program.

According to the governor’s aide, government and the officials of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, have been meeting with a view to resolving the issues raised by the workers.

Comrade Usoro said most of those who were recruited have been paid their salaries while newly recruited teachers would soon be deployed to schools.

On the refund of the seven point five percent contributory pension, Comrade Usoro said over ninety percent of the affected workers have been refunded their money.
He however noted that isolated cases are being addressed by the government.

The governor’s aide advised the workers to continue to support government’s programs and policies for the development of the state.
