A former presidential aide from Adamawa State on Saturday officially decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).

Ahmed Gulak, who was political adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan, and later tried unsuccessfully to become PDP’s national chairman, said he was leading “42,000” people to the ruling APC.

He said they were “forced to leave PDP” by “impunity and lack of internal democracy”.
“Members of the PDP numbering 42,000 across the 21 local government areas including party executives have today wished to formally dump PDP and join APC officially.

‘’With this development, we formally bury PDP in Adamawa state,” he said.
“Though we are not like others, who kept decamping when their dreams and ambitions were not met.
“Constitutionally we have the right to leave and join any other party. Former President Obasanjo had earlier left PDP and tore his party membership card.

“So also former Vice President Atiku Abubakar; it could be recalled had first left PDP and joined AC that later metamorphosed to ACN. From ACN, Atiku returned back to PDP that he first left and before you know the former vice president again cross-carpeted to APC and now left to PDP again.

“So everyone has right to change if they feel disenchanted and we have made consultations with our people who asked us to move to APC.

He said the government’s “degrading of Boko Haram terrorists” was enough to justify the defection.
Salihu Mustapha, APC North-East chairman, said the decamping was a result of the good work of the APC administration.
“All federal roads have been awarded for rehabilitation while some have reached concluding state of bidding for awarding by federal government,” said he.

Reacting, the state PDP chairman of the party, Tahir Shehu, said their defection would be a big relief to the PDP, saying, “most of them were lured by Governor Jibrilla Bindow for juicy position while others have skeleton in their cupboards, and they were afraid of EFCC’s hammer.”

ALL STARS ETINAN ENDORSE GOV UDOM EMMANUEL FOR SECOND TERM

All Stars Football Club of Etinan yesterday joined several other socio-political groups and organized organizations to endorse the second term ambition of Mr. Udom Emmanuel come 2019.

Speaking during their training session yesterday, the President of All Stars, Comrade Ikkake Lawson thanked Governor Udom for citing several people-oriented projects in Etinan and for appointing several sons of Etinan as aides especially Mr. Godfada Uko, the Special Assistant on Project Monitoring.

He pledged the groups determination to support the Governor beyond 2019. He also thanked Mr. Godfada Uko for always supporting activities of All Stars in Etinan Local Government.

Mr. Uko further pleaded those who do not have Permanent Voters Card (PVC) should make good use of the Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) to register so as to be eligible voters in the upcoming general election in 2019.

FEYREP AMBASSADORS INTERNATIONAL which is a non-governmental group has one of its objectives of amplifying the good works of the wife of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel.
The International President of FEYREP Mrs Helen Ekong told selected newsmen during training of Akwa Ibom youths on vocational training at Iflourish Esthetique facial studio and beauty school, Uyo to mark 2018 birthday celebration of Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel.

“We at FEYREP AMBASSADORS INTERNATIONAL thought of what we can do to celebrate Her Excellency, you know she is not a materialistic person, so if you thinking of celebrating someone who is more concerned about others than herself, you have to think of something that will touch lifes.”

We didn’t feel it is just enough to cut cake and eat rice and dance away, we know that Her Excellency is more interested in every Akwa Ibom Child, youth and women, she wants the best for them, we at FEYREP AMBASSADORS, we are only helping to amplify what she is doing, she is already doing too much. The trainees which numbered over hundred 100 were drawn from all the local government areas of the state. The trainees were trained on craft making (Ankara shoes and bags, beads making), Beauty Therapy Training (skin analysis, cream production etc), Computer appreciation (Graphic Design and Printing Technology) and Liquid soap making under Skill Empowerment and Enterprise Development Scheme (SEEDS).

The President of FEYREP AMBASSADORS INTERNATIONAL, Deaconess Helen Ekong further said member of the group taxed themselves to train the youths to make them self-reliance and empower them for the future. Mrs Ekong said those trained on craft making and beauty therapy training will go home with materials and creams respectively.

“We want those trained to will leave with material, like the skin analysist and beauty consultants will be leaving with free creams sponsored by us that they will go sell and make money, then start up something after what they have learnt today. Those learning craft will leave with raw material to work with, go home practice what they learnt, produce somethings then start selling to make money”

High point of the event was cutting of birthday, sharing of gifts and prayers offered for Her Excellency Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel, Governor of Akwa Ibom State , Mr Udom Emmanuel, peaceful and united existence of Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria.

A star-studded team of Nollywood actors, actresses, directors and producers are currently in Etinan Town, headquarters of Etinan Federal Constituency, to train indigenes of Etinan, Nsit Ibom and Nsit Ubium Local Government Areas in various aspects of film making.
The Nollywood delegation comprising of Lancelot Oduwa Imaseun, Jennifer Eliogu, Millicent Jack, amongst others, shall be assisted by their counterparts in the Akwa Ibom Movie Industry led by Emmanuel Owuala.
Speaking at the official flagoff of the training at the Millennium Hall of the Etinan Local Government Secretariat, Rt. Hon. Sam Ikon, who is the facilitator of the programme, stated that it is a continuation of his dedication to nurturing talents and equipping them with skills to thrive.
"I am here because of the mandate you all gave to me and you know my focus has always been on projects that will make my people to be independent and self-employed. The gesture was necessary due to the mandate freely given to me by you”, he explained.
Ikon promised that at the end of the programme trainees shall be empowered and adequately supported in their quest of making ends meet in the movie industry.
The MP while divulging that the training is free of charge, implored participants to avail themselves of the opportunity.
In his remarks, prolific Nollywood director and producer, Lancelot Imaseun, described the training as a golden chance for prospective film makers and movie stars lauded Rt. Hon. Sam Ikon for facilitating the programme.
Imaseun, an internationally renowned film maker, while revealing that he has contributed immensely in discovering and grooming superstars from Akwa Ibom State, announced that he helped fast-track the success of actress Ini Edo and comic actor Ime ‘Bishop Umoh (Okon Lagos) in mainstream Nollywood. He promised to ensure that more talents from the state are discovered and groomed to stardom.
He expressed delight for the confidence reposed in him as one of the resource persons for the programme.
Also speaking, Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Cross River State, Hon. Eric Anderson, noted that the programme will yield positive dividends to the Akwa Cross Movie Industry.
He urged political office holders, entrepreneurs and other well placed persons to invest in the entertainment industry.
Film Training Courses offered during the training include Producing, Acting, Directing, General Production, Management, Cinematography, Editing, Script Writing, Continuity, Make-Up, Costuming, Property Management, Set Design, amongst others.
Resource persons for the training include, Lancelot Imaseun, Jennifer Eliogu, Millicent Jack, Maik Kalu, Bernadette Obi, Prince JTT, Ekere Nkanga, Moses Eskor Emmanuel Owuala, Moses Armstrong, Idy Ekerette, Kenneth Ekanem, Humble Akpan, Deborah David, and others.
The political class also showed solidarity by making their presence felt. Chairman Etinan LGA, Hon Cletus Ekpo, Hon. Except NDDC contractors retract their steps from the Peoples Democratic Party and channel their support to the Governorship campaign of the Managing Director, Mr Nsima Ekere, their hopes of getting paid to complete their subsisting contracts may end up as a mirage.

Already, the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, is set to cancel 482 contracts valued at about N90 billion on the excuse of non-performance.

Our investigations reveal that several attempts by the NDDC czar to lure the major contractors, most of whom, had reached over 60-70% of their contract execution, into APC had failed woefully.

Although the commission explained that it is cancelling the jobs in order to pay all outstanding arrears of foreign scholarships to students, Global Pilot learnt that the ploy was to punish contractors who have refused to join the APC campaign train.

The NDDC in a statement recently said the decision to cancel the contracts was reached at the recent meeting of the board, explaining that the aim is to clean up the commission’s books and to remove non-performing items.
“Part of the decision we arrived at was to cancel 482 projects between 0-5 per cent startup valued at about N 90 billion. This is in a bid to clean up the commission’s books and to remove non-performing items.
It was gathered that Mr Ekere who allegedly vowed to fund projects handled by only those who defected to his party has continued to starve PDP –inclined contractors of funding.
Indications have emerged that all those who defected since last year, have since been paid in full, while their counterparts despite their efforts at meeting specifications, have been ignored.
One of the contractors who confided with the Global Pilot said their situation will get no better as they have resolved never to join the APC on account of patronage for jobs they duly executed.
“It is like Esau selling his birthright,” the contractor lamented, “if Nsima likes let him do his worse we have decided that we wont join his party after all the calamity the party has brought to our country.”
Investigations reveal that the NDDC management team is making considerate efforts on how to terminate the contracts on the allegation that the contractors have abandoned the projects, with a view to re-awarding same to their cronies.
Efforts to reach the NDDC Managing Director was abortive as at press time.

The ongoing smear campaign against Distinguished Senator Effiong Bob, the political leader of Nsit Ubium has gone too far. The campaign which is sponsored by agents of blackmail, who does nothing than recruit rascals to go on social media, notably Facebook to post articles, videos, and make comments just to drag the high reputable Senator Bob to the mud.

When all these character assassination started, it was uncleared who was behind the mask, until Otobong Edemidiong was unmasked as the sponsor of the Facebook assassination of the character of Senator Bob. It was a very sad to know that the same Otobong Edemidiong, the immediate past chairman of Nsit Ubium, whom Senator Bob nurtured in politics, gave a voice to talk to the people, could be so inhuman to publicly disgrace his benefactor, by raining insults on his person.

Aside the stories on social media, several Newspapers have also been used in this smear campaign against Senator Bob, sponsored by Otobong Edemidiong and his likes,with different headlines, all aimed at tarnishing the image of Senator Effiong. Stories of how Senator Effiong is imposing his son on the people, how the people of Ubium North have rejected his son,and all that.

But one thing any right thinking person should consider first and ask questions, is the road that led to the emergence of Senator Effiong Bob's son, Barr. Otobong Bob as a candidate widely endorsed by the people, which was wrongly spread to have been rejected by some people, according to some reports on the papers, and reactions on the social media.

Before Otobong Edemidiong became and attacking dog, sponsoring attacks on Senator Effiong through the the likes of Kanny Okoko, and other idle minds. He was the first person to suggest Barr. If Otobong Edemidiong will be truthful to himself, and his gullible followers, he would have told the people the whole truth, and how Senator Bob refused to agree with him on his choice of his son for three consecutive times, before obliging.

It was after several persuasion by Edemidiong and others, that Senator Effiong Bob agreed to work with them and iron out modalities before the election period finally sets in. But what will till tomorrow shock the people is that he( Edemidiong) mobilized for the endorsement of Barr. Bob, and was having a double face deal of endorsing another candidate, in the person of Hon. Blessing Mbakara.

As if that was not enough, he went on to hold meetings with the people, conspiring, and signing various memoranda on the support and candidacy of Blessing Mbakara. In one of the meetings, people who were not from Nsit Ubium were mobilized to attend, videos of the meetings recorded and posted on the internet.

Some Facebook users were mobilized by Kanny Okoko on the order of Otobong Edemidiong and paid 1,500 to make comments on the post that will tarnish the image of Senator Bob and his son. One wonders why Otobong Edemidiong had to go that far, just to attack Senator Effiong Bob, who turned him from a boy to a man, a man who until his recent smear campaign, has always ride on the back on the Senator.

One of the newspapers headline challenged Senator Bob to show one person he has empowered in the past 24years, this to me and other right thinking person saw a clear case of mischief. Because the boys who are claiming to be leaders in Nsit Ubium today, knew nothing about the politics of Nsit Ubium and that of PDP they are claiming today.

Who was Otobong Edemidiong 24years ago?
Who was Blessing Mbakara 24years ago?, that should dictate for the people of Nsit Ubium whom to represent them, and the party Senator Effiong co- founded.

The recent mudsling of Senator Bob, is the speculation that he is behind the recent arrest of Blessing Mbakara by DSS, who was later released, along with Otobong Edemidiong. To anybody who cares to hear, should take note of the fact, that the arrest of Blessing Mbakara was based on the allegation that she kidnapped one Mrs. Ekaete Uboh on 23rd September last year.

It is on record that the son of the missing woman had gone on social media to rain curses on Hon. Blessing Mbakara, who he said took his mother to an event along with other women to Uyo, while others returned home, his mother was missing. When he and other family members confronted her, she paid 10,000 to the police station at C Division to arrest, torture him, and put in detention.

This and many other issues was the reason she was arrested and has nothing to do with Senator Effiong Bob, as speculated on the media. Because up until today, the said woman has not been found. Before now, Blessing and her husband had threatened to kill anybody who tries to bring up the issues concerning the missing woman. But the question still remains, where is Mrs. Uboh? She was taken from her house by Hon. Blessing Mbakara.

Nsit Ubium should support the candidacy of Barr. Otobong Bob, who is well studied, exposed, and focused to lead the people, because if the father did not disappoint the people as a public office holder, he too will not. It is greed that makes some politicians to jump from one candidate to the other.

If Blessing Mbakara was that sellable, why did the elders and other stakeholders plead with Senator Effiong Bob to talk to his son, to accept to run for the Assembly seat. As far as the politics of Nsit Ubium is concerned, none of these blackmailers have the capacity to stop Barr. Otobong Bob, whose season has come. They wanted Barr. Bob, but now they want to mock him. The truth is that they have failed, because even God can not be mocked.

I saw a video posted online, how some stakeholders met with Senator Effiong Bob, to reaffirm their commitment to support his son irrespective of the act of betrayal by Otobong Edemidiong and others, and they even sang and prayed for Barr. Otobong, raised his hands up in solidarity. To my greatest surprise, senator Effiong Bob's words in the said video was interpreted has declaring war on those who are opposing his son. This is a cheap smear campaign taken to far.

Fresh concerns have been raised over the safety of the founder of Kairos Rhema Embassy church in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Nsikakabasi Ese, owing to another round of threats to his life by his former In-law Mr. Cletus Ukpong of Premium Times Newspaper.

Cletus Ukpong is said to have secured the services of thugs which he uses to intimidate innocent Akwa Ibomites with Pastor Ese his latest victim. Ukpong who is still pained that Pastor Ese divorced his sister, whom he virtually packaged and delivered to Ese as a wife has swore never to allow the Pastor stay in Peace.

Cletus has sponsored both media and physical attacks on the pastor and has severally called him out to ridicule on many social media platforms.

It will be recalled that last year Cletus and his army of hooligans were shamefully beaten up and chased out of Kairos worship centre in Bassey Esau Street for attempting to disrupt a service in order to push his personal vendetta against Pastor Ese.

Ukpong who was allowed into the church premises because of the NUJ branded bus he used, however alighted with some armed thugs to launch an attack.

At the church, they beat everyone up, broke chairs and destroyed anything at sight. If not for some church members and neighbors who came out to confront them, who knows what would have happened?

Further investigations reveal that Mr. Cletus Ukpong gave out his sister Idongesit Ukpong in marriage to one Mr. Anietie AKA Abdulahi, the marriage failed.

Without divorcing the husband, Cletus gave her out to Pastor Nsikanabasi Ese of Kairos Rhema Embassy in marriage who never knew that Idongesit was still legally married to her ex-husband, Anietie.

The marriage between Idongesit Ukpong and Pastor Nsikanabasi was very smooth until the innocent pastor discovered that the woman he loved so much was a breathing lie and a direct opposite of truth.

Idongesit out of desperation to marry the pastor had lied to him about her true age, educational qualifications and even arrange with a fake prophet to go tell Pastor Ese that she is his wife.

Sources said, when the pastor discovered these and couple with the fact that she was not fit to be a church founder’s wife because of her character, the marriage hit the rock and they headed to the court.

The marriage ended November 2016 and she had packed out of the house and supported by her brother, started threatening Pastor Ese via text messages and calls. When phone calls were made to reach Pastor Ese, he declined to comment on the matter saying he was busy with his church programme, however sources say the Pastor has been faced with severe threats by the Onna –born journalist who had also been a contractor using the firm, Emem and Sons, during the regime of former Governor Godswill Akpabio.
