The House of Assembly member, representing Eket State constituency, Honourable David Lawrence, on monday, said the people of Ekid will sit down to renegotiate the rotation of the state house of Assembly seat. 


He spoke with select Journalists from Ekid extraction, on the issues bothering Ekid, and his journey so far in the state house of Assembly. 


The member noted that, he has worked in partnership with the state government, on the construction of the Ibom super highway, construction of Ekid stadium, the relocation of Urua nka market to a befitting place, and also the relocation of the Eket motor park, to an expensive place. 


Also as part of his projects, is the construction of shades at ikot uso Ekong timber market, to enable the people have a standard timber market, so that they can move from the old site to the market in Ikot Uso Ekong. 


As part of the plans at the timber market, is the construction of new toilets, drilling of a new borehole, to make the timber market befitting. 


He maintained that, his constituency briefing and empowerment is underway, where he will present his scorecard to the people, in March, as the first batch of his trainees in pipeline fitting, fashion and designing, and other skills acquisition programmes, have graduated, and will be presented with a starter pack on the day of the empowerment. 


The house member when asked about his political future in the House of Assembly, he explained that, the circle will be completed in 2019 by the three zones, which makes up Eket, comprising, Central, Okon, and Urban. 


As such, the people of Ekid will sit back to decide on which zone that should take the shot in the Assembly in 2019, since it has rotated among all the zones.


Presently in Ekid, the Okon Eket holds the Commissionership position, the Central zone holds the Chairmanship position, while the Urban zone has the Assembly seat. 


Speaking with some indigenes in Ekid, they said, there are political divides at the moment, with the entrance of the House member into the race for the Assembly seat in 2019.


Journalists present, appreciated the house Member, David Lawrence, for finding time, to have an interaction with them.

A’Ibom: APC Elders, Stakeholders Stage Protest Over Fake NDDC Contracts

The lingering crisis rocking Etinan Local Government Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, took a different dimension last week when stakeholders from the area embarked on a peaceful demonstration to the State Secretariat of the party, No 4, Atiku Abubakaar Avenue, Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, over what they termed hijacking of contracts money by a group of individuals.

The said contract, according to the protesters, was allegedly facilitated by the Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Obong Nsima Ekere, to empower members of the party. The protest which was led by a foremost politician and chieftain of the APC in the state, Arch. Ekong Etuk, was joined by the Etinan Chapter Executives led by Chapter Chairman, Rev. Samuel Ukut, Ward Chairmen and excos as well as elders and stakeholders of the party in the area.

While lambasting those they accused of diverting the proceeds of the contract, the sum of which they put at over Two Hundred and Forty Nine Million Naira, the protesters brandished placards with different inscriptions such as “Sunny Jackson, Return The Money. It’s Not Meant For Your Family”; “Sunny Jackson and Dr. Friday Etuk: Don’t Kill Etinan APC With Your Selfishness”; “Dr. Friday Etuk (ASSUR) Is Not A Member of APC. He has Not Decamped From PDP”; “APC State Exco, Save Us From Political Undertakers, Prostitutes”; “Help Etinan APC From Political Herdsmen”; “This is a Game Plan To Destroy Etinan APC and Return to PDP Afterwards”, amongst others.
Receiving the protest letter on behalf of the Akwa Ibom State Chairman of APC, Dr. Amadu Attai, the State Deputy Chairman, Elder Emmanuel Udoh, thanked Etinan APC for their orderly conduct during the demonstration pointing out that protest was an integral part towards proper democratic enthronement.
While expressing his displeasure over the allegations, the APC helmsman promised that the party shall look into the matter with a view to finding amicable resolution, assuring that those found culpable would be dealt with in line with the constitution of the party.
Also speaking, the State Secretary, Dr. Effiong Etok, noted that anything that came into the party from any source was meant to empower its members, thereby strengthening the party.
He hinted that APC in the state had sharing formulae accommodating every segment of its members. The party scribe further noted that the concerns raised by the protesters would be addressed by the appropriate quarters.
Earlier in his comment, Arch. Ekong Etuk, a one-time governorship candidate on the platform of the defunct Social Democratic Party, SDP, who is also the APC Political Leader in Etinan, while submitting the protest letter to the APC State Chairman, alleged that those whom he said “hijacked the money” claimed that it was Obong Nsima Ekere’s magnanimity directly to their group and not the faithful of the party in Etinan.
He decried the bad blood which the action of those he described as “faction” in Etinan has caused in the party.
While debunking the claim that the proceeds of the said contract was meant for “group”, the APC State Publicity Secretary, Barr Edet Bassey, in a phone chat with our correspondent said there was a template approved by the party on the matter.
He noted that while the APC in the state recognized approved party structures, any group which activities tend to cause disaffection within the party cannot be recognized. The party’s image maker however promised to furnish this paper when he is properly briefed on the issue.

Senator Akpabio denies rift with Governor Udom, applauds him on the killing of notorious militant

The Senate Minority Leader and Senator representing Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District, Godswill Akpabio has denied media speculations that he was embroiled in a rift with his successor, Governor Udom Emmanuel describing such insinuations as the handiwork of political jobbers.

Senator Akpabio in a statement in Abuja by his Special Assistant on Media, Anietie Ekong said so far he was satisfied with the performance of Governor Emmanuel and added that he cannot be engaged in a feud with an administration that Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District played a significant role on its emergence.

"It is obvious that the concerns raised by the Senator during the end-of-the year stakeholders meeting organized by the Deputy Governor that all was not well was misunderstood and political jobbers sought to feast on it.

"What the Senator said was that their House should be put in order so that the votes from Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District would be put intact for Governor Emmanuel in the next election.

"Senator Akpabio is satisfied that the areas of concern raised by the stakeholders which were further explained by the Governor during the follow-up meeting with him to the satisfaction of the stakeholders present at the meeting were receiving the attention of the government," the statement said.

Senator Akpabio commended Governor Emmanuel for working with security agencies to eliminate a notorious militant, Akaninyene Jumbo alias Iso Akpafid who had killed many citizens of Ukanafun LGA and its environs and rendered many refugees in the last one year, which he noted was another area of concern by stakeholders of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District. He said with the killing of the hoodlum peace would return to that part of the Senatorial District.

The statement said Senator Akpabio had consistently pointed out that Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District would stand by Governor Emmanuel and pledged the support of the people towards the reelection of the Governor with its over 500,000 votes.

The release cautioned those making inciting statements to create a wedge between the Senator and the Governor to desist from it as they were only doing so for their personal benefit. He sued for peace in the state and advised politicians to desist from politics of hatred and blackmail which would not augur well for the unity of the state.

UKANAFUN VIOLENCE: BEDRIDDEN ACCOUNTANT CRIES FOR HELP TO EXTRACT BULLET FROM SPINAL CORD



A young accountant, Mr Inibehe Idiong and an indigene of Ukanafun is crying out for help from Nigerians to help him raise the sum of N2.1 Million needed for the surgery to extract the bullet lodged close to his spinal cord.

Inibehe who is currently unable to walk due to the injury on his spine  is lying in a critical condition at the orthopedic ward of the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital.

Narrating the incident that led to his present condition, Inibehe told our reporters that he and his sister Emasema Ukoka, both indigenes of Idung Idem Udo village in Ukanafun  were returning from a church programme around 7:10pm on Monday, October 15, 2017 when they were accosted by the hoodlums who asked for their phones which they he and the sister handed over to them without hesitation.

Inibehe said “After we handed over our phones to them, they asked us what other thing we had. We gave them the little money we had in our pockets. Only for one of them to first of all shot my sister in the hand and then went on to shot me by the side of my ribs. I was shocked because we never struggled with them or said anything calculated to be provocative. But after they shot us they ran away, leaving us at the mercies of passersby. “







Inibehe said the preliminary surgery done by the Doctors at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital has shown that he needs to be moved to the a Specialist Hospital in Enugu for the bullet to extracted in order for him to walk again.

Also speaking, Inibehe’s younger sister, Emasemma Ukoka who was also shot by the hoodlums that evening, said at the moment, the family is thrown into a difficult economic hardship as the brother – Inibehe who has been lying incapacitated since October last year was the bread winner.

She has just been offered admission to study Crop Science in the University of Uyo.

“As you can see, my mother is emaciated as a result of the trauma from this incident. We can’t even feed. Where will we have the N2.1million needed for the surgery if kindhearted people do not come to our aid? Please I am soliciting help from everyone to help my brother walk again; because if he dies, my mum might die too as a result of the heartbreak.”



The Medical Doctor, Dr. Usendia while giving insights on the issue said the impact of the bullet had affected some bones in the spine of the victim, explaining that there is need for a surgical procedure to be done to correct some parts of the bone and support the spine with some medical alternatives with the hope that this will correct the paralysis.



“After the scan, we have referred him to a specialist hospital in Lagos or Enugu state for the major surgical operation. This should cost about N2million naira or thereabouts.”

The mother of all political parties in Nigeria, Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) Akwa Ibom State Chapter has called for a ceasefire from groups and individuals in their utterances for against Governor Udom Emmanuel and Senator Godswill Akpabio urging the duo to continue working together for the good of Akwa Ibom State



In a statement signed by Andy Oduobuk (Elder) the secretary of CNPP, the group said if there is no ceasefire it might lead to a disharmony among major ethnic groups and geo-political groups.

“The CNPP wants Governor Udom Emmanuel and Senator Godswill Akpabio to continue to work together harmoniously for the sustenance of the good works the duo have done so far for Akwa Ibom State and the people”



“We are aware that some prominent individuals and groups within and outside the state have made statements/utterances and insinuations on the prints and social media which can escalate to disaffection and disharmony amongst major ethnic and geo political groups in the state.”



The statement further said that “Akwa Ibom is greater than any individual or groups of person and her peaceful co – existence cannot and should not be compromised”

“That, we are supposed to grow above ethnic politics at this level and put our resources together to move the state to the next level”

“That what the state Governor needs most at this time is the cooperation of every political stakeholder, a peaceful and conducive atmosphere to be able to concentrate and continue with the laudable programmes and projects he has been able to proide for the good people of Akwa Ibom State”

“Every ethnic group and individual should therefore shield their sword and exhibit maturity in their utterances not heat up the polity especially now that political activities for 2019 general elections are gathering momentum.

The member representing the Akwa Ibom North Senatorial district at the upper chambers, Sen Goodwill Akpabio has yesterday commissioned thousands of constituency projects executed by him for the good people of his senatorial district.

Speaking at the commissioning ground of the several projects, Senator Akpabio said it is his responsibility to go out and hunt for a good developmental projects that will better the life of the people in his constituency.

Among the projects commissioned by the Senate Minority Leader include: Open store at the Timber Market, Utu Edem Usung, Solar Powered borehole project at Ibiakpan Ikot Ekere both in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.



Other projects includes Classroom blocks at Ibiaku Ntok Okpo government school, another solar water borehole with one kilometer radius reticulation at Mbiaobong Ikon village, open market stores at Obo market, Oduk all in Ikono Local Government Area of the state.

At Ini Local Government Area, the working Senator also inaugurated open market stores at Urua Ofiongaran and 4 classroom blocks at Ukwuok government school.



In Abak LGA, Sen. Akpabio Commissioned another open stores market at Urua Akpan Ibom, Midim and two solar powered borehole water projects at Ebibit Afaha Obong and Ikot Akpan Idem respectively.

According to reports by PremuimTimes, Sen John Udoedehe a former senator and member BOT of ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has said that he wouldn’t mind accepting an appointment as a messenger or a cleaner from President Muhammadu Buhari.
It could be recalled that the federal government recently released names of board members of various agencies.  Sen Udoedehe, a former senator who represented Uyo Senatorial District in Akwa Ibom State, was appointed as a board member for the Nigeria Information Technology Development Agency.

Udoedehe, a former minister, said he has been receiving several calls from his political associates and supporters who felt that the appointment was humiliating, considering his reach in politics.

“It will be disrespectful to the president for me to reject the offer, I am a loyal party member,” Udoedehe said told Premium Times

“If the president finds me worthy to be a messenger or a cleaner in the government, as a Christian I should humble myself and accept it.

“I don’t want to give my enemies weapon to tell lies against me. I don’t want my enemies to go and tell the president ‘I told you this man is arrogant’.

“The Bible talks about longsuffering, talks about humility, talks about patience, and talks about gratefulness to God,” Udoedehe said.

The former senator who said he has great respect for Mr Buhari said a lot of people have been calling him since they heard of his appointment.

“They are shocked by the reply I give them,” he said.

Udoedehe said he will build a structure that can get Buhari to win a majority of votes in Akwa Ibom in the 2019 election.

It was celebration galore in Ikot Itieudung, the country home of the MD/CEO of Eminence Oil and Chemicals, Mr Emmanuel Okon as he doles out cash and food items to celebrate Christmas and new year with the people of Nsit Atai local government Area.

In his remarks, the MD/CEO of Eminence Oil and Chemicals, Mr Emmanuel Okon said it has been a regular rituals for him to celebrate Christmas and new year with Nsit Atai people, and identify with his people on every festive season.

He added that Christmas being a season of giving and receiving gifts, there is no way he will not impact on the lives of Nsit Atai people.

Mr Okon maintained that his gesture was in support of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s giant strides and impressive performance in governance since he came on board as the governor of Akwa Ibom State. And also in fulfilment of his earlier resolve to do what the governor would have done.

He charged those without voters card to get registered to enable them vote for Governor Udom Emmanuel come 2019, and called for more support for the governor and the council chairman in 2018.

HON. DAVID LAWRENCE PERFORMANCE BEYOND CONDEMNATION

Several articles, memos has so far been written and published by a blogger, about the representation of the Eket State constituency lawmaker, Rt. Hon. David Lawrence, aimed at tarnishing the image of the lawmaker and make him appear bad before the people, but the truth about the Lawmaker is clear enough for anybody to see.





One thing the blogger does not know is the fact that Rt. Hon. David Lawrence is not a newcomer or novice in politics, or how to relate with his people and get feedback, as one who is a silent achiever. The Lawmaker who had a profession, worked at Kalis Airline, Admin Officer/Personnel Assistant to the Managing Director between 1992 – 1995, Oscar Marine Limited as Admin Officer/Personnel Assistant to the Managing Director 1995 – 1996, Admin/Operations Manager 1995 – 1997, as well as General Manager 1997 – 2002 managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Goldwater Marine International Limited between 2002 – 2014 did not come into politics to loot the money of the constituency, but for service.





Those who were with Hon. Lawrence as the Vice Chairman of Eket Local Government Council from 2008 to 2011, also as the chief of Staff to the Transition Chairman of Eket Local Government from 2011 to 2012, as Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman of Eket Local Government Council from 2012 to 2014, can attest to the fact that, he is a good mixer and a man of the people.



Since assumption of office as member representing Eket State Constituency, he has embarked on many life touching programmes that are beneficial to his constituents ranging from training of youths and women in different fields of endeavours. Hon. David Lawrence has assisted many sons and daughters of Ekid origin and attracted some laudable projects to the area. He has just completed an ICT Training Center built to train hundreds of Ekid sons and daughters to be ICT compliance in line with his legislative mandate of changing the lives of his constituents for good.

His leadership style and effective representation of the people is so obvious, that even somebody who is aspiring for his position in 2019, which is a normal thing in politics, people must come out to contest and all that, openly told the people that the leadership style of Rt. Hon. David Lawrence is commendable.



Hon. Ekanem Willie, a former vice chairman of Eket local government and the political leader of Ikot Nsidibe community Okon area of Eket was quoted to have said ” The only position that I hereby offer myself publicly that I will aspire to continue from the effective representation that David Lawrence is doing in the Legislature is the State House of Assembly.” This is to show that though as politician who wants to contest election, he has acknowledged the the fact that the present representation is effective.



Going through the articles written by the said blogger, one can feel pure hatred coming from one who claims to have his people interest at heart, yet feels bad about the progress of his people, but take pleasure in promoting outsiders, and was quoted to have said ” Your present elevation to the position of Deputy Chief Whip in the house of Assembly, is a rape on democracy, because, positions are gotten on merit, but yours was on the basis of ineffectiveness”



This was a very sad thing when I read it, because I am a priest and I have So many friends, associates, who sing the praises of Rt. Hon. David Lawrence, base on his performance, assistance to the people in terms of school fees, money for women to trade, and all that. So for somebody who does not even know the things the lawmaker is doing for the people, because he has refused to ask questions about it, as well as the legislative procedures as regard the House of Assembly constituency briefing, to be writing articles up and down against the representation of the Eket Lawmakers is a pure case of ignorance.

In one the articles, the blogger wrote: “While your colleagues in the Assembly organizes constituency briefing, award of scholarships and empowerment programmes in their constituencies, your likes continue to wallow and lay wasted in the house, without nothing to show for as a project”



This line of reasoning by somebody who calls himself an investigative journalist is very misleading. I think it is time Eneh John get to the house of Assembly complex, and ask questions, do findings from the lawmakers on constituency briefing, and how many of the lawmakers has so far organized a constituency briefing, what is legislative involvement in a constituency briefing, and the financial involvement of all members towards the constituency briefing of their colleague.



Eneh John, I want you to take this to the bank, that before a constituency briefing is organized by any lawmaker as far as the legislature in this State is involve, there are procedures, which includes the house rules, ranking, members financial contributions and time, hence no lawmaker can just wake up and buy cars, working tools and all that to display worth millions without following the procedures or contributions of the other members.



On the other hand, it is wrong for anybody to mislead the public by saying that Rt. Hon. David has not empowered his people, because he has, and he is still doing it. Though I am not saying that citizens should not hold their representatives accountable, but should be done in modesty, after a proper findings unlike the way Eneh John is going about it. The Eket Lawmaker to the best of my knowledge is briefing his constituents daily, by interacting, giving, and showcasing his intention to make a Eket great, except for the likes of Eneh John who does not see anything good in the government in power in Akwa Ibom state, which he had longed extended to the House of Assembly, but will always promote and reports good stories about Delta State and others, what an hypocrite.

Is Eneh John aware that Rt. Hon. David Lawrence pays over 1.5 million naira monthly to some people he is empowering, training on different skills acquisitions?

Is Eneh John aware of the impact the Ultra Modern Market, which is replacing the old Urua Nka will create to the people of Eket in the future?



In case he is not aware, this project was initiated by the member representing Eket State constituency in the state house of Assembly, Rt. Hon. David Lawrence, and CICASA West Africa company Ltd is in charge of the remodeling, and the project which was estimated at 9million naira with a total capacity of 5,000 shops.



The face of Eket Sport Stadium is wearing a new look, as a result of the influence the Eket Lawmaker has brought, by attracting projects to the area, by his cordial relationship with the Governor, and by supporting what is good.



I hear Eneh John boast that he will be at TeamNigeria program on Planet Radio to further display his ignorance against the House member, the misinformed program I can not waste my time listening, because that program has since lost its value and focus, i wonder why the management of Planet Radio still allows such program to exist.



Rt. Hon. David Lawrence is a silent achiever, who knows his onions, with support from the people, all his plans for the area, will become a reality.

Speaker Luke commends Idongesit Ntekpere, describes him as a performing Lawmaker

The Speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Barr Onofiok Luke has described the member representing Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara state constituency in the House, Hon. Idongesit Ntekpere as a performing legislator.

He made the remarks on Thursday in Obot Akara during the constituency briefing and empowerment ceremony hosted by the lawmaker at the FIDA Secondary school grounds in Urua Offiong Etor Udo, Obot Akara his constituents. While thanking the people of the State constituency for the confidence reposed on the Assembly member, Speaker Luke who led members of the House of Assembly to the constituency briefing, said Idongesit Ntekpere has contributed enormously to the success of the sixth assembly. 


While acknowledging the various inputs of the legislator to bills, and motions passed by the House of Assembly, Barr. Luke specifically praised Hon. Ntekpere who is the Chairman, House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs for his sponsorship of the local government administration bill which was passed into law thus giving the legal framework for the smooth running of the current local government system in the state.

"We are very comfortable with Ntekpere's representation in the House of Assembly. Today, the legal framework upon which the local government rests on...that bill was sponsored by Ntekpere as lead sponsor and all us as co-sponsors. You have a good representative in the person of Idongesit Ntekpere".
Governor Udom Emmanuel who was represented by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Iniobong Essien, expressed satisfaction at the representation of Hon. Idongesit Ntekpere, and commended him for empowering his constituents. 
The Governor thanked the people of the constituency for supporting his administration, and pledged his commitment to the betterment of the wellbeing of the people.

On his part, the Chairman on the occasion, Dr. Chris Ekpenyong who is a former Deputy Governor said the people of Obot Akara were satisfied with Ntekpere's representation in the legislature, and assured him of the continuous support of constituents. 


Presenting his score card, Hon. Idongesit Ntekpere said he decided to host the briefing as his way of appreciating his constituents for giving him their mandate to represent them in the State legislature.

"After the first two years of my tenure as your representative in the hallowed chamber of the 6th Assembly, i consider it indispensable to remember your mandates, supports, prayers and immeasurable sacrifices which you gave to me, hence my coming back to brief, appreciate you and above all, thank the Almighty God for his divine guidance and wisdom through my legislative journey". 


The Assembly member used the opportunity to intimate his constituents on some of the bills and motion sponsored and co-sponsred by him among other achievements recorded by him within two years in office. 


High point of the ceremony was the presentation of numerous empowerment packages including 7 mini-buses, 5 tricycles, 11 cars, education grant of N100,000 each for 21 students and business support fund of N100,000 each to 21 beneficiaries drawn from Ikot Ekpene and Obot Akara. 


Other items dolled out to beneficiaries include, sewing machines and motorcycles. 


Other dignitaries who delivered good will messages at the occasion include the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio who was represented by the member representing Essien Udim state constituency, Sir. Nse Ntuen, PDP Chairman, Paul Ekpo, National Legal Adviser of the PDP, Barr. Joyful Songs At Obot Akara As Hon. Ntekpere Empowers Thousands Of Constituent

It was jubilation throughout on Thursday at Obot Akara LGA of Akwa Ibom state as Rt. Hon. Idongesit Ntekpere, a member representing Ikot Ekpene, Obot Akara in the Akwa Ibom state House Of Assembly empowered constituents with items worth several millions of naira.

The occasion which took place at Fida Secondary Commercial School, Urua Affiong Etor Udo in Obot Akara attracted members of the public from every nook and corner across the the state including the youths, women, clergymen as well as the traditional rulers.

Among political stalwarts who graced the event were, the Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Mr Udom Emmanuel represented by Dr. Iniobong Essien, The Senate minority leader, Senator Goodswill Akpabio represented by Hon. Hon. Ntekpere on his speech said the briefing was necessary considering the mandate, supports, prayers and immeasurable sacrifices which members of his constituency freely gave to him.

The Lawmaker expressed gratitude to Gov. Udom Emmanuel and wife for their exemplary leadership in piloting the affairs of the state forthrightly and selflessly towards the collective socio-economic and political emancipation of Akwa Ibom state.

IN AKWA IBOM: 2 WEEKS OLD DEAD BABY RESURRECTS IN WOMB AFTER PRAYERS

According to reports by Ndanti Ekuh a woman carried a baby in the womb for more than the usual 9 months.



In the 10th month of the pregnancy, she went to the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH) for her routine antenatal only to be told that she must be admitted into the theater for CS. According to her, on hearing the Doctor’s directive, he was not only shocked but worried as to why such an urgent and unexpected call for CS.

All she got out of her persistent questioning of the nurses was, ‘Your life is more important’. At that point she got more worried and scared.

The nurses, as their profession demands, were very careful not to ‘let the cat out of the bag’ as the pregnant mother was on drip, though they were equally under pressure to calm down the already nervous pregnant mother.

The bomb shell got exploded as the Doctor opened up to the nervous pregnant women that the baby she is carrying in her womb had died over 2 weeks and that she must be put in the theater to get the baby out.



The doctor, upon dropping the bomb shell, had expected the woman to cry uncontrollably but was disappointed as the woman opposed the doctor’s medical judgment.



Despite all medical proves to the carrier of the alleged ‘dead baby’ to convince her on the need for CS, the woman insisted that her baby cannot die as God never informed her of such death. As any medical doctor would do, the Doctor left telling her to call the husband and get prepared for CS, probably, after the drip.

As the Doctor stepped out, the pregnant mother forcefully disconnected the drip and and left with her husband.

She moved straight to The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Akon Itam District Headquarters where Pastor Eman Umoh stationed.

On arrival, she was told that Pastor Eman Umoh was asleep. While her husband opted to send for the sleeping pastor, the pregnant woman, full of faith, objected calling for the pastor and rather went straight to the church, crying only to God, praying and rolling on the floor of the church. While she was still praying in the church, the Doctor returned to the hospital, fully prepared for the CS but got disappointed as his client was no where to be found. He placed a call on the husband, informing them of his readiness for the CS. “We will soon be there,” the husband replied the Doctor as instructed by the wife.

After her prayer, she got a bottle of water, picked some quantity of sand on the floor of the church and put in the water. She further went home and Picked some quantity of powder which she got from her counterpart who delivered a baby before her still through Pastor Eman Umoh’s prayer and added in the mixture of sand and water. Having mixed the three things, she dranked it with faith, believing it to be a spiritual drug capable of resurrecting her purported dead baby.

After drinking the mixture, she returned to the hospital with her husband to meet the doctor.

On their arrival at the hospital, the story changed as fresh medical examination confirmed that the lifeless baby had returned to life.

What happened, when where and how the baby got back to life within the short interval of time and ready for birth remained strange to the Doctor and all medical experts in the UUTH till date.

Few days later, the mother delivered the baby and the miraculous baby arrived safe and sound and the mother is also alive and healthy.

The Police in Akwa Ibom State has declared Emediong Eno Asuquo missing. This was information from a statement signed by the Police Spokesperson DSP Bala Elkana, He said Emediong left home on 26th Novermber at about 9am.

One Emediong Eno Asuquo ‘f’, is declared missing. She is residing at No.4
Maxwell Okon Street, Off Sylvanus Okon Road, Uyo.

She is 18 years old, four feet tall, fair in complexion has black spot on her lower cheek, and speaks Ibibio and English Languages fluently. Emediong left home on 26th November, 2017 at about 9:00pm to unknown destination and has not returned. All efforts made to trace her whereabouts proved abortive.

A corp member identified as Mr. Collins Ohaegbu got drowned on Friday last week in Okat river, Onna Local Govt Area of Akwa Ibom.
His dead and swollen body has been deposited in the mortuary yesterday when it was found in the suburbs of the River.



The Corp member met his untimely death on Friday afternoon when he went to the river with some his colleagues to have fun but unfortunately he could not return.

Mr Collins is from Mbano Local Govt Area of Imo State.

Gates of the Government House in Uyo, will be thrown open on Monday, 4th December, for Akwa Ibom Children, numbering over three thousand (3000), who would be going to tell Governor Udom Emmanuel and Wife;Deaconess Martha Emmanuel, thank you for the free and compulsory education as well as other moral support provided by the current administration.
The children’s visit tagged: “Akwa Ibom Children’s Mega Thank You Reception” is facilitated by Arise African Scholars Initiative in conjunction with the Education Monitoring Unit (Office of the Governor).

According to the organizers of the event, the Deputy Governor; Mr Moses Ekpo, is expected as Father-of-the-Day, while the Commissioner for Housing and Special Duties; Mr Akan Okon will Chair the occassion. Speaker of the State House of Assembly; Rt Hon (Barr) Onofiok Luke, Secretary to the State Government; Sir Etekamba Umoren, as well as Head of Service; Mrs Ekereobong Akpan will be Guests-of-Honours.

Briefing newsmen in Uyo, the Chairperson of Arise African Scholars Initiative; Princess Diana Akpabio-Akinmoyo, said, Schools Children all over the State were grateful to the Udom Emmanuel administration for sustaining free and compulsory education in Akwa Ibom.





According to Princess Akinmoyo, the free and compulsory education in the State has changed the status of an Akwa Ibom child from fetchers of wood and drawers of water to boardroom players, managers, policy and decision makers.



Her words: “The current administration has sunk in a lot of money in the education sector. Our children are happy and the families are happy as well. Each time we visited Schools for guidance counseling, the feedback from the Children was that, they want to see the Governor and wife to tell them thank you for free education, thank you for Dakkada philosophy, thank you for waking us up from our dream, thank you for showing us that right way to go”.

AKWA IBOM APC STATE SECRETARY STORMS POLLING UNIT WITH THUGS



…as PDP State Publicity Secretary escape assassination
… Carts away election materials

While citizens of Akwa Ibom State were exercising their Civic rights of voting, those of Use Ndon (Ward 4, Unit 7) in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area were being forced to a different experience, owing to a disruption of election in the said unit by hoodlums hired by the State Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Effiong Etuk.

Findings reveal the attack was targeted at the Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Comrade Ini Ememobong who is also from the same Unit.



Journalists accredited by the Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission (AKISIEC) to monitor elections across the State got to the polling unit and only met a crowd of seeming stranded people arguing with themselves.



Enquiry revealed that an indigene of the unit by name Effiong Etuk, himself the State Secretary of APC, had stormed the unit in company of hoodlums armed with matchets and guns, harassing the Polling Officer.

The Polling Officer who narrated her ordeal said: “the AKISIEC vehicle went about dropping officials at their polling units and I was dropped here at about 9:45am. I kept calling the Supervisor for a security personnel and I was told one would be sent. Since the instruction was that I should not open the materials until there was a security person around, I had to tell the people to be patient.

“While waiting, one Effiong Etuk (AKA Charles Taylor) who is the APC State Secretary came here and starting asking me why I want to embarrass him. I told him I was there on official duty for AKISIEC and not to respect or favour any individual of party.

“Before I knew it, he came up here and started dragging the bag that contained the materials. When the voters tried to stop him, his hoodlums unleashed violence randomly on everyone. Surprisingly, the polling clerk by the name, Mrs Joe Ekpoatai who was supposed to support me, assisted them to snatch the materials, after which, she absconded with them. I was beaten mercilessly, I lost my phone in the process”.

Another victim of the violence while narrating his ordeal, said, “we were waiting for election materials when they came with dangerous weapons to snatch materials. Effiong Etuk, our brother and secretary of the APC in Akwa Ibom personally wanted to force the Polling Officer and take the materials. When I tried to help the polling officer, one of them hit me with a bottle and broke my eye. See how they nearly damaged my right eye”.

Reacting, the PDP Publicity Secretary said, the incident occurred barely five minutes after he was excused by his supporters to attend to an issue in his village residence, adding that chances are that he was the main target of the attack.

His words: “the circumstance is simple. Election is a Civic duty and my village is a village that has a lot of educated people. It’s not as if the people don’t know violence. But the question is, violence against who? The person who is projecting this violence, who did in 2011 and 2015 and repeated same today, unfortunately is my uncle and he is the state secretary of APC.

“Like I said, not that we do not know how to do violence, but imagine what would happened if we tried to retaliate. That’s why I keep telling my people, I keep warning our supporters that on no account should even a pin be brought anywhere close to voting centres because no ambition is worth the blood of any human.

“This is a call to the AKISIEC, the Commissioner of Police, Brigade Commander and heads of other security agencies to ensure that full security is on ground when next election is holding. Being civil doesn’t mean we should be taken for granted. We hope the attacked Polling Officer will do his report formally and we also hope the electoral body will act accordingly.”

When contacted on phone, the accused Etuk refused speaking to our correspondent on the matter and dropped the line. Several other attempts were futile, as he was unresponsive.

A personal assistant to an APC chieftain Chief Sunny Ibanga, was among some hoodlums nabbed by security agents for possession of firearms and engaging in acts of security breech during the local government elections in Ikot Ekpene.
The thugs were apprehended with firearms in Ikot Ekpene inside a Hilux truck belonging to Chief Sunny Ibanga, who is the state caucus member of the All Progressives Congress.
Their arrest brought an end to the wanton violence and mayhem that had send shivers down the spines of innocent voters in Ikot Ekpene in the early period of the election.
Investigations reveal that the Managing Director of the NDDC through his Special Assistant, Uyo Nathaniel has been making franking efforts to get the suspected culprit off the hook, but to no avail.
The arrest has confirmed the recent Press Statement by the State Government that certain elements had been compromised to cause a breakdown of law and order.
The release had alerted that the said hirelings were conscripted to disrupt the election and cause an atmosphere of insecurity.
The sponsors of the thugs, it was gathered, are from certain political interests outside the state who have threatened to get the culprits out at all cost.
It is not the first time that outsiders have been fingered, attempting connive with opposition elements to cause chaos in the peaceful Niger Delta state.
Efforts to get the NDDC managing director’s reaction were unsuccessful as at 9pm Saturday night.
However the state Governor Mr Udom Emmanuel in a swift reaction said his administration shall ensure that all those arrested in connection with thuggery and electoral violence will face the full wrath of the law.

Condemnations have trail alleged attempts by a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress Mr Nathaniel Uyo, to scuttle the elections in Ikot Ekpene local government area.

Electorates alleged that Nathaniel Uyo, a special assistant to Nsima Ekere the NDDC managing Director, armed with thugs and some uniformed security men tried to cart away some electoral materials meant for some units in Ward 1 and 2 in the area.

Speaking with reporters, some of the voters said they were surprised that the APC supporters, who had shown no interest in campaigning for the election, had to come around to unleash mayhem in the area.

Mr Unwana Isongumo, a youth leader in unit 1 of Ward 1 lamented that the APC thugs attempted to deny them of opportunity to exercise their franchise.

Meanwhile, some youths have been arrested by men of the Nigerian Army for engaging in thuggery, and election violence.

The alleged thugs were apprehended in a Hilux truck with registration number AH 821-KTE, allegedly belonging to a chieftain of the APC Chief Sunny Ibanga.

They were whisked away in handcuffs by the army men.

Meanwhile early polls result show PDP coasting home to victory across the state.

The Commissioner For Culture and Tourism, Rt Hon Victor Antai explained during a press briefing why the state needs “Ukapisua” event.







“As we all know, yuletide periods in Akwa Ibom State have hitherto been bereft of hyped activities. During this period we usually witness an outflow of human traffic into neighboring states as indigenes and fun seekers leave the state in their numbers to other parts of the country in search of entertainment and recreation.



It is in an attempt to remedy this and spice up the yuletide experience for the citizens of Akwa Ibom State, while effectively marketing our huge tourist potentials that the Ministry Of Culture and Tourism has decided to host “Ukap’isua”, an end of the year Christmas festival.



. Historically, our people planned and host festivities around this period. We hope to create during this same period, a unique experience that will not only create recreation and entertainment, but also market our huge tourism potentials.”
