If only Uniport gave us the right to tell our parents of the meetings ourselves. Rather they decipher the information through parent's phone numbers they got during registration in year 1. ishowdotgmail: |

Education / A Friend Of Mine Has Up To 13 Carry Overs Currently In Year 3 by SKAMM(m): 12:32am On May 28, 2016 |
Note: This is a true life story and I'm not referring to myself in this post. This is a faceless forum if I was I would specify it. I saw a post earlier about carryover students and I remembered a friend of mine currently in that situation. Her year 1 first semester was ok. Second semester was not that good. But at least she had a chance of graduating with her mates. The problem started in year 2 when out of 8 courses she had 6 carryover. Second semester came and another round of carryover was presented to her as her result. She is studying a Maths related course and she's not good in Maths hence the carryovers. I've tried putting her through in some of the courses before the exam but to no avail. It's not that I'm not a good teacher, it just takes her more time to understand simple calculations talk less of the complex ones. She likes associating herself with the very intelligent ones in the class hoping they will help her in the exam hall but they don't because those kind of persons don't concentrate on other people while the exam is on. I'm more than an average student but I usually have time for my friends during exam. She refuses sitting close to me rather she sits close to the so called intelligent guys in the front sit. I'm posting this here because we are in year three about to write first semester exams but she's totally blank in all the courses we are offering. She says she's learnt her lesson and won't sit with those guys anymore but she can't sit with me either because I can't show her everything in the exam hall. I can give her tips but she won't be able to do anything with it because she has to at least have an idea of what's going on. I can't abandon her because she's my friend and I want her to succeed. I once advised her to take a JAMB form but she refused. I can't teach her like she requires because we are already close to the exam and I need to revise also. So please guys give me ideas on my to help her. I would have posted a screenshot of her result but I'd rather not for anonymity sake. cc lalasticlala, Fynestboi , Richiez , olawalebabs |

I was just chatting with some of my female friends tonight and I realised they all asked me one particular question which was "Missed me?". And I started wondering why is it so important for them to know if I missed them or not? I know I'm not the only one who has experienced this. Please ladies tell us what benefits you guys gain from knowing if your male friend misses you while you're not with them? |

Education / The Importance Of Education For The Female Child. by SKAMM(m): 10:19am On May 22, 2016 |
I'm going to try and keep this topic as short as possible. Although I got most of the contents of this topic from another source I added a few other points to it based on personal experience. Girls’ education is one of the most effective ways for ending poverty in developing nations. The benefits of their education are seen by individuals, their families, and throughout society. These benefits include: #1 Reducing the number of babies women have; #2 Lowering infant and child mortality rates; #3 Lower maternal mortality rates; Protecting against HIV/AIDS infection; #4 Increased number of women with jobs and higher earnings and; #5 Benefits that last many generations. Education for girls can have the benefit of delaying marriage and pregnancy for young girls. Instead of a girl getting married before age 20 and often suffering abuse by her husband, girls who attend primary and secondary school are more likely to have a say in who they marry. Girls who attend school also are able to use more effective methods of family planning and therefore have fewer and healthier babies. An educated girl and woman will have learned about HIV/AIDS and know many different ways to protect herself from getting the disease. Every year of schooling helps a girl make better decisions for her and her family. Women who attended school often have healthier families. These women are more likely to seek medical help from clinics or doctors. Because they can read, literate women can understand a doctor’s detailed instructions and follow up for help if needed. These women also can read nutritional labels and provide their family healthy meals that promote growth and lower cholesterol. Education also teaches young ones the importance of keeping herself and her house clean and safe. As their families are healthier, so is the mother. She is less likely to be a young mother since she stayed in school and will have better- spaced pregnancies that are healthy for her body. Education is amazing: the World Bank determined that each year of school prevents 2 maternal deaths out of 1000 women each year! Sending your daughters to school can be challenging to your pocket book and her safety. You can protect them with your support and involvement in their education. This will curb most teacher or student harassment that they would feel uncomfortable with. Continue reading the links to see how the price to your wallet will be worth it now and in the long-run. Going to school alone is not enough.Education from the parents as well is necessary to produce a female child of worth in the society. I have three sisters and they are all happily married to men they themselves chose. Because of the wealth of knowledge they have both from our parents and school, they were able to remain faithful to themselves and God before their marriage. Their are so many young girls in my area who have either given birth or are currently pregnant because of lack of education. I was with some friends yesterday and I saw a very small girl of about 14 years pregnant. When I enquired about the issue I found out that she wasn't raped or anything rather she has a boyfriend she claims she loves. In this case I blame the parents.
