Nigerians need to wise up.. Those hailing the activities of NDA have not yet understood the gravity and extent to which their nefarious activities will lead to. Ask those who live in Warri today, they have seen the once bubbly city reduced to nothing as the oil companies shut down operations and moved their operations bases to Lagos and Port harcourt. These is not about crippling resources of the big men or politicians only, how many hotels lost patronage due to the oil companies present in warri, how many cleaners lost their jobs, landlords had empty buildings without tenants, taxis had no passengers, even the state lost revenue generated from tax by companies.... the repercussion is enormous. its high time as a people we start raising our voices to condemn these unpatriotic acts |

[quote author=Acidosis post=45693370]I've already given a breakdown analysis of how the white collar workers would be the worst hit. Okada men, in spite their zero economic knowledge know how to increase their fees when prices of fuel increase. This applies to other unskilled workers, artisans, etc. It is the white collar folks, especially those in the private sector that would suffer. Sell a litre at N1000, that illiterate danfo driver would run his business profitably, it is you the all knowing educated economist with a static salary that will suffer. Before you oppose or support this movement, think! think! and think about your circumstance. While some can easily make their clients increase their fees, many employees cannot. In fact, when prices of fuel increase, there is likelihood that some would lose their jobs. If you're a skilled worker, do not resist anti-government forces unless you have an oil bloc somewhere. The same artisans and the rich you want to help with 'subsidy' are wiser. Totally agree with you. Lots of drilling engineers over the past 6months have been idle at home for lack of jobs, oil servicing companies have laid off alot of staff while those working are on half salaries. Its really tough yet alot of nigerians still dont understand the kind of hardship that this would cause. There are so many cards/moves on the table for the FG, removal of subsidy at this point clearly isnt one of them |
Nice one |
[I bought my SIM card with number for 30,000 NAIRA. I made calls 70/per minute, whether it was 25 seconds or 60 seconds. Then MTN held sway. Glo came. Econet came. Other Telecom companies came. All of a sudden, the price of SIM cards crashed to 3000 and 1000 NAIRA and then nothing! The telecom companies started begging us to pick up their SIM cards for free. And now, I don't even know what MTN charges for a minute's call again. It's something I take for granted. But in 2004, I always checked my account balance to see how many minute's call my airtime could sustain. I do not have that worry today. Competition in the sector has driven down the cost of everything. If my MTN line misbehaves, I buy airtime on my Glo network and make calls from there. There were times when MTN gave me bonuses whenever I had dropped their SIM for other networks just to woo me back. Occasionally, MTN will role incentives, promos and packages to reward my loyalty. Other telecom companies do the same. The endpoint is always to keep their customers happy and hooked to their brands and services. All that happened because President Obasanjo deregulated the sector. It appeared a crazy idea when he did it, in fact, the cost we borne was humungous. But all that has eased out to usher in an era of choice that comes with comparative ease today. If you support the government's deregulation of the petroleum sector, though initially things will be tough, but ultimately, it will bring happiness just as we experienced in the telecom sector. Have you ever imagined a situation where independent marketers will fall over their necks just to have you buy fuel in their stations? And then, you, the buyer, will make your yanga whether to buy in station A or B, if their price, quality and quantity is right. That time will come, and sooner than we expect. So let's endure the pain of deregulation to enjoy the gain that is sure to com] Thanks so much for the history about the emergence of the telecoms sector and how its deregulation has yielded many benefits today. remember back then, we had nothing but an ill-managed Nitel before the entry of other multinational companies. I dont think the oil downstream sector can clearly simulate the behaviour of the telecoms market. For instance, Dangote cement has monopoly of the cement market, it costs 4 times less the amount to produce a bag of cement yet its sold at exhorbitant prices. Dangote controls the market and drives govt policies concerning cement to his favour. The same will be done by the oil cabal, they will frustrate the efforts of new players and as a result determine and control the price to the retailers. Of course, you would argue that more refineries will be built.... But again dangote beat everyone to it with his mega refinery and just as he is doing with cement, pasta, sugar, tomato etc will continue to ensure that he has the monopoly of market |

[Please go and pay your brother's fees. When God gave his only begotten Son "Our Lord Jesus" how much tithe did u pay him? What does God want or need your money for? It's really very sad knowing that we are mislead by religion or "men of God" who for the sake of their own bellies and greed encourage their flock to live in ignorance. As followers of Christ, we aren't meant to pay tithe. Tithe was one of the laws commanded by God to the Isrealites to pay to the levitical priests so that they can have food. But the priesthood has been changed also were the laws which made it. Jesus, the Most High Priest is from the tribe of Judah.... The old covenant has been replaced with a new one. Please read Hebrews Chapter 10.] |
[quote author=crazysaint post=45485641]joke not with tithe.... To me i will advice you to pay your tithe first. Now checkout the blessings that follows in payment of tight: The windows of Heaven will be opened to you. ''Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.'' (KJV) God promised to pour His blessing to you, by opening the windows of Heaven. When your heaven remains open you will struggle less. little effort will yield bountiful harvest. Opportunities will be staring at you even you are not there the opportunity will still be waiting for you. [Please go and pay your brother's fees. Fashola though bright and intelligent, his governance and policies never favour the poor. He believes in taxes and levies not minding the repercussions it has on the masses. E.g PHCN tariff increase |
Stupedinluv:I have a weakness for ladies with neatly polished and not very long manicured nails. It just goes to show how much they pay attention to very small details. Sorry this is coming a lot later than expected. |
Stupedinluv:Hair and nails for me. Like my ladies very neat |
S247:As members of the new testament church, we are not required to pay tithes. Pls read Hebrews chapter 10. All the offerings and tithes offered by the isrealites did not please God so replaced those offering and tithes with the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ. Secondly, tithes and offerings were part of the Jewish laws made for the jews. We are gentiles so we shouldn't even pay tithes at all |
The Lord Jesus Christ only should be our message. By His death, the sacrifices and offerings have been replaced with the sacrifice of Christ once for all. So the issue of offering and tithes shouldn't be a subject of discussion because they don't please God. Only the Lord Jesus pleases the Father |
Well, i totally disagree with mathematics and physics mentioned on the list. I work with a software development firm and we actually recruit a lot of mathematicians. Also, alot of E & P companies have mathematics graduates working as petroleum engineers. The mathematics background actually simplifies engineering and makes it easy to adapt to the engineering principles and fundamentals |
