ednut1: same guy called for state of emergency yesterday. He is a clout chaser
He knows better now. Was hiding in his room yesterday and thought the world has come to an end.
I witness the protest yesterday and know the police have it under control. In the north it is mostly "children" (under 25 years) with sticks that want to turn it to riot. Teargas and warning their parents would de-escalate the situation.
Charleys: Na today I really know some people are cowards.
He has disappear online.
Someone that has intentionally tried to set INNOCENT people to die. It is just hate. He didn't really believe his message otherwise he would come out boldly. Is he really serious about kicking Igbos out of Lagos? This is the opportunity to attempt, now or never.
Minimum Wage: Labour Rejects Tinubu's ₦250k Offer, Reason Emerges
~ President Bola Tinubu's proposal to pay ₦250,000 minimum wage to Nigeria workers was reportedly rejected by the labour leaders
~ Joe Ajaero, the president of the NLC, disclosed that the labor union rejected the proposal because it required an increase in petrol prices
~ Ajaero disclosed that the proposal was made during the union's meeting with Tinubu, adding that the union rejected it in the interest of Nigerians
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) rejected President Bola Tinubu's proposal to pay a minimum wage of ₦250,000 because it was conditional on increasing petrol prices.
According to NLC president Joe Ajaero, the proposal was made during a meeting with the president in Abuja. Ajaero stated that the organised labour turned down the offer, and prioritised the welfare of Nigerians.
Why we accepted ₦70,000 minimum wage - labour
While speaking on Channels TV's Politics Today on Thursday, July 18, Ajaero explained that accepting the ₦70,000 minimum wage was a compromise to avoid further hardship for Nigerians.
He emphasised that the labour movement is willing to make sacrifices, but not at the expense of Nigerians.
The price of petrol has skyrocketed from ₦184 in May 2023 to around ₦700 currently, depending on the location. This significant increase followed Tinubu's decision to end petrol subsidy.
How Tinubu removed fuel subsidy
On May 29, during his inauguration, Tinubu announced an end to the era of fuel subsidies. The development led to fuel scarcity in the country and a subsequent hike in the price of the commodity.
Despite the hike, the organized labour agreed to a ₦70,000 minimum wage for Nigerian workers. According to Ajaero, this decision was made in consideration of the new wage review cycle, which will now occur every three years instead of five.
President Tinubu is expected to send an executive bill to the National Assembly to formalise the agreed-upon minimum wage, which will then be legislated into law.
The development aims to provide a more regular and sustainable approach to wage reviews in the country.
Legit.ng earlier reported that the NLC and TUC leaders were seen in a trending video hailing
Tinubu at the end of their minimum wage meeting at the presidential villa in Abuja on Thursday, July 18. Tinubu had pegged the minimum wage at N70,000 after months of negotiations between the government, labour, and the organised private sector.
The president also promised the workers other incentives, including the review of the minimum wage every three years.

No just kano (butt more overt in Kano)... Their is a reason why more than 60% of 2015 voters did not register for 2013 elections... I know one person who couldn't because he was a child voter and tried to renew his old voters card (instead of starting afresh, they said date of birth didn't match).
geoworldedu: hmm. But going by the fact that he was incumbent, he would have used his influence for many riggings here and there too, but las las, he who rigged better won.
Even his own party chairman (Mu'azu) conspired with the opposition, and he was too weak to call them out (and conduct a proper election)... But no doubt Buhari was a legend to many people back then (he had all the solution to Nigerian problem and to him, the solution was simply and too obvious to him).

Poverty alleviation: Court orders Buhari’s minister to explain N729bn disbursement
Justice Dehinde Dipeolu of the Federal High Court in Lagos has directed the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disasters Management and Social Development, Sadia Umar-Farouk, to give details of how N729bn allegedly disbursed to 24.3 million poor Nigerians was carried out.
The court ruled that the ex-minister should provide a list of all the beneficiaries, including their bank details, that received the N5,000 disbursed for six months.
The judge gave the orders while delivering judgment on a suit, marked FHC/L/CS/853/2021, filed by Social Economic Rights and Accountability Project.
According to SERAP, the judgment was delivered in June while the certified true copy was released by the court on Friday.
In a statement on Sunday, SERAP’s Deputy Director, Kolawole Oludare, explained that Umar-Farouk filed a preliminary objection to challenge the suit but the court dismissed it.
According to SERAP, Justice Dipeolu, while delivering the judgement, held that “The former minister is compelled by the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act to give information to any person, including SERAP. I, therefore, grant an order of mandamus directing and compelling the minister to provide the spending details of N729bn to 24.3 million poor Nigerians in 2021.
“Provide SERAP with details of how the beneficiaries have been selected and the mechanisms for the payments to the beneficiaries.
“Explain the rationale for paying N5,000 to 24.3 million poor Nigerians, which translates to five per cent of Nigeria’s budget of N13.6tn for 2021.”
Reacting to the judgment, SERAP’s Deputy Director, Oluwadare, said the ruling was a victory for transparency and accountability in the spending of public funds.
He said, “Justice Dipeolu’s judgment shows the urgent need for the Tinubu government to genuinely address the systemic allegations of corruption in the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disasters Management and Social Development and other ministries, departments and agencies, as documented by the Auditor-General of the Federation.
“We commend Justice Dipeolu for her courage and wisdom and urge President Bola Tinubu to immediately obey the court orders.”
SERAP said the immediate enforcement and implementation of the judgment by the Tinubu’s government would be a victory for the rule of law, transparency, and accountability in the governance processes and management of public resources.
