She is excited in the video probably because they spend to much time inddors in AC rooms. Just like children in a boring class being told it is PE time or some practical OUTSIDE, it is fun.
Especially the trolls and those depressed on Niaraland, you need to go outside and breath fresh air. I digress.

~ A Nigerian lady has celebrated acquiring a nursing degree from the University of Derby in the United Kingdom
~ The fresh graduate recalled how she lost her University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) direct entry admission back in 2020
~ She narrated how she took a bet on herself by taking advantage of the UK migration pathway and it eventually paid off
A young lady, Obot Ifiokobong Patrick, has expressed excitement at becoming a nursing graduate in the UK four years after she lost her admission to study the same course at UNN.
From losing admission to a UK graduate
In a TikTok post, Ifiokobong shared some school documents and emails, inspiring netizens with her success story
She said she was given a direct entry admission to study nursing in November 2019 and resumed school in UNN in 2020.
Ifiokobong's department would later be changed with the explanation that UNN admitted more than their quota. The school could not resolve the issue.
Ifiokobong said she then applied to study at the University of Derby, sat for the necessary exams and was given admission.
In May 2024, she finished from the UK varsity.

US, UN condemn Borno bombing, Tinubu vows to crush B’Haram
The United Nations and the United States of America, on Sunday, condemned Saturday bomb attacks in Tashan Mararaba, Gwoza town, Borno State, claiming the lives of at least 18 persons.
The attacks, carried out by suspected female suicide bombers, struck a wedding, a hospital, and a funeral in Gwoza, a town near the border with Cameroon.
According to the Borno State Police Command spokesman, Nahum Daso, on Sunday, three blasts took place on Saturday in Gwoza.
President Bola Tinubu, in a statement on Sunday by the Presidency, said his administration would redouble its efforts “to ensure that those who trouble the nation, dispatching precious lives, and disrupting law and order are completely removed.”
A security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, told PUNCH Online that the bomber, later identified as a young lady in her early twenties, detonated her explosive device in the middle of the gathering, causing chaos and destruction.
Intelligence sources told Makama that the victims, who were all civilians, were returning from a wedding celebration when the attack occurred near a busy motorpark.
Emergency services rushed to the scene to rescue those injured and transport them to the hospitals in Gwoza.
Saturday’s bomb attack is the first in years since Boko Haram began bombing raids across the country in 2009.
Notable among such raids was the bombing of the United Nations building in 2010 and the busy Nyanya motor park both in Abuja, in 2014.
President Tinubu strongly condemned the bomb attacks, describing them as “desperate acts of terror and a clear manifestation of the pressure mounted against terrorists and the success achieved in degrading their capacity to launch offensives.”
According to a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu said the purveyors of wanton violence “shall have a certain encounter with justice.”
He said the “cowardly attacks” were an isolated episode vowing that his government “will not allow the nation to slither into an era of fear, tears, sorrow, and blood.”
In the statement titled, ‘President Tinubu condemns bomb attacks in Borno State, says purveyors of terror will pay a heavy price,’ Tinubu said his administration was taking necessary measures to secure citizens.
He condoled with the victims of the attacks, the families of the deceased, as well as the government and people of Borno State.
US, UN condemn attacks
The United States Mission in Nigeria condemned the suicide bomb attacks that targeted civilian populations in Gwoza, a Local Government Area of Borno State.
Reacting in a post on its official X.com account on Sunday, @USinNigeria, the mission said the violence showed cruel disregard for human lives, noting it would be working with Nigeria to bring the perpetrators of the violence to justice.
The mission wrote: “The United States condemns in the strongest possible terms the horrific attacks that took place in Gwoza, Borno State on June 29. These reprehensible acts of violence show a cruel and heartless disregard for human life. We offer our deepest condolences to the families and friends of those killed and wish a full recovery to the injured.
“These abhorrent attacks are a stark reminder of the ongoing threat posed by terrorism in the region. The U.S. Diplomatic Mission in Nigeria is committed to our partnership with Nigeria as it works to defeat terrorism and bring the perpetrators of these heinous acts to justice.”
Also, the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, Mohamed Fall, in a statement on Sunday, expressed his horror and condemnation of the attacks in the strongest terms.
“I am horrified by this attack on civilian populations and condemn such acts in the strongest terms. I stand in solidarity with the Government of Nigeria and the families and communities of all those affected,” Fall stated.
Fall also reminded all parties involved in the conflict of their obligations under international humanitarian law to protect civilians from harm.
He emphasised the United Nations’ commitment to supporting the victims of the attacks and conveyed his condolences to the Borno State Government.
“I have reached out to the Borno State Government to express my condolences and offer any support that the United Nations and the humanitarian community can provide to aid the victims of the attack,” he added.
Northern govs urge collective resilience
The Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Yahaya, called for collective resilience against terrorism as they sympathised with victims, government and people of Borno State over the Gworza bombings.
Describing the attack as cowardly, Yahaya emphasised that such acts of terror had no place in a peaceful and progressive society.
“These cowardly attacks by bloodthirsty terrorists will never break the spirit of the peace-loving people of Northern Nigeria and our great nation,” he declared.
Yahaya acknowledged the relentless efforts of the Tinubu administration in combating terrorism and the pressure being mounted against the criminal elements.
He expressed his firm belief that with sustained efforts and cooperation among security agencies, the menace of terrorism would be effectively curtailed.
“We must ensure that our security apparatus is always a step ahead of these terrorists. Enhanced intelligence and proactive measures are vital in preventing such tragic incidents,” he stated.
The governor also commended the Borno State Government for its swift response and measures taken to stabilise the situation and reassure the affected communities.
“Governor Babagana Zulum and his administration have shown exemplary leadership in the face of this tragedy. Their prompt actions have helped in calming the situation and providing immediate relief to the victims,” he said.
Yahaya called for collective resilience and unity among the people of Northern Nigeria, saying “We must stand together, undeterred by these acts of terror. Our unity and resolve will ultimately defeat the forces of darkness and ensure lasting peace and security in our region”.
The NSGF Chairman reassured the victims and their families of the support and solidarity of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, stating that “Our hearts go out to the victims and their families. The NSGF stands united in solidarity with you and remains committed to working collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure peace and stability prevail across the region and the nation in general.”
Also, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, expressed concerns over the incidents of terrorism resurfacing in the North-East.
In a statement on Sunday issued via his X handle, Atiku said the suicide attacks in Borno were sad, condemnable and worrisome.
He wrote, “It is a sad development that the ugly incidents of terrorism are resurfacing and, indeed, metastasising in the North-East.
“The reported attack by suicide bombers at a wedding reception, funeral procession, and a hospital on Saturday stands condemned.
“It is unfortunate that much of the pushback that had been achieved against the Boko Haram terror sect is being cancelled, owing mainly to the government’s lacklustre posture to hold firmly on the frontline.”
Atiku, therefore, asked the Federal Government to ensure that the North-East did not slide back into the hands of terrorists and become the theatre of extreme violence.
He added, “It is thus important to call on the federal authorities to wake up to their responsibility and to make sure that the North-East does not slide back into a theatre of terrorism and extreme violence.
“My condolences go to the families of victims of these attacks, and it is my prayer that God grants a peaceful repose to the souls of the departed.”
CilicMarin: Can they just sell this country and share the proceeds? I don tire
It is possible Buhari has already sold it and pocket the money. He took loans in Billions of DOLLARS but did nothing with the loan that our grandchildren would pay back with interest rate... In addition, our oil was sold in advance.
The Federal Government plans to conduct a drug use survey as part of its efforts to combat drug abuse and develop preventive measures, The PUNCH reports.
It said the survey to be conducted soon would help the government break the vicious cycle of drug abuse, safeguard teeming youth from falling prey to the illicit act and ensure proper resource allocation to address the issue effectively.
President Bola Tinubu said this at an event held on Tuesday in Abuja to commemorate the 2024 United Nations International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking themed, “The Evidence is Clear: Invest in Prevention”.
On December 7th, 1987, the United Nations General Assembly set aside June 26 of every year as the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking to raise awareness about the major problem that illicit drugs represent to society.
Drug abuse refers to the harmful or hazardous use of psychoactive substances, including alcohol and illicit drugs. It leads to addiction, a chronic, relapsing disorder characterised by compulsive drug seeking, continued use despite harmful consequences, and long-lasting changes in the brain.
The annual event with support from the MTN Foundation encourages governments, organizations, and individuals to come together to combat drug abuse and illegal drug trade through education, prevention, and treatment programmes.
The Country Representative, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Oliver Stolpe, highlighting the impact of drug abuse said that 292 million or 5.6 per cent of the world population aged between 15 and 64 engaged in drug abuse in the past year.
Speaking during his keynote address, Tinubu represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, said that the increasing spate of drug abuse is a stark reminder of an urgent assignment to save humanity.
He stated that the social, economic and health consequences of drug abuse do not only destroy lives but also put a strain on the healthcare system adding more burden on the government to provide proper rehabilitation.
He said, “Our gathering here on this significant occasion to commemorate the International Day Against Drug Abuse and the National Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, a day dedicated to raising awareness about the global challenge of drug abuse and trafficking is a stark reminder of an urgent assignment for humanity. It communicates the need to allocate more resources in the collective and coordinated quest to stamp out the consequences of the abuse of illicit drugs.
“The social, economic and health consequences of drug abuse are not only devastating to lives but also put a strain on the healthcare system. Drug abuse imposes a burden on government and people and the ramifications of these consequences reverberated across generations.”
The president stated that preventive measures remain the most potent weapon to save lives and promote healthy lifestyles adding that the intervention is not merely a moral imperative, but a solution to safeguarding our future.
“In the face of this formidable challenge, prevention is the most potent weapon that we can deploy. Prevention not only saves lives, it also saves resources that would otherwise have been spent on treatment and rehabilitation. It empowers individuals to make informed choices, promotes healthy lifestyles, and creates resilient communities, capable of withstanding the pressures of drug abuse.
“Preventive intervention is not merely a moral imperative, but a solution to safeguarding our future by allocating resources towards various prevention programs, we can break the vicious cycle of drug abuse and protect our youth from falling prey to the menace.
“Prevention efforts must be comprehensive and must target all the elements of society, namely, schools, markets, motor parks, workplaces and communities. It must involve all stakeholders because the drug problem requires the whole of society approach and no single entity can tackle it alone.
“On this note, I enjoy all and sundry support for the war against drug abuse initiative, otherwise known as the WADA campaign, done by NDLEA three years ago. This government will support the NDLEA to build on its success recorded in the past three years. We shall work with all relevant stakeholders to ensure that we have positive statistics from the next national drug use survey to be conducted in the country. Together we can build a country where every individual has the opportunity to live a drug-free life where communities thrive and where hope replaces destruction.”
In his address, the Director General of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Mohamed Buba Marwa, said operatives of the agency have 52,901 drug traffickers, including 48 barons, and obtained over 9,000 convictions of suspects in the last three years.
Marwa said the agency’s offensive action had resulted in the seizure of over 7.6 million kilograms of assorted illicit substances, including cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, and cannabis.
The NDLEA boss said efforts to achieve a drug-free Nigeria are being led with preventive steps, one of which has been blocking distribution channels.
He said, “The imperative to invest in prevention is dictated by evidence-based results that have shown that prevention is far more cost-effective than dealing with the consequences of drug use disorder. Because, after all, prevention is better than cure.
“At NDLEA, drug use prevention lies at the heart of our strategy in addressing the drug problem as it is: far more effective and cost-efficient to prevent drug abuse than to deal with its consequences. As part of the reforms being undertaken in the Agency in the last three years, with the support of the Federal Government and various stakeholders, we have invested in prevention programmes”.
Edo Speaker walks Igbinedion’s grand-daughter out of plenary over improper dressing
Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku on Wednesday ordered the Deputy Majority Leader of the House, Natasha Osawaru, out of plenary over improper dressing and wearing of dark glasses.
Osawaru, who represents Egor Constituency in the House, is the granddaughter of billionaire businessman, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion.
The member representing Ikpoba Okha Constituency, Nicholas Asonsere, who earlier raised a point of order, noted that the Deputy Majority Leader’s mode of dressing was against the rules of the House.
His words: “This hallowed Chamber is a sacred home. We will not continue to accept or allow anybody to bring it to disrepute.
“We have tolerated enough of the attitude and behaviour of some honourable members, so to speak, and if we do not correct this now, it would become a precedent for others to emulate, if not now and in the near future.
“Please, Mr Speaker, if I have the permission, I want to crave the indulgence to read some rules of the House sections and subsections.
“We have our own Bible which is often referred to as the rules of the Edo State House of Assembly, upon which we are being guided. Any member that violates or contravenes the rules is punishable by the law.”
In response, the Speaker of the House, Agbebaku ordered the Deputy Majority Leader to leave the chamber.
He said the action was in accordance with the House rules and not his own making.
“Improper dressing and wearing of dark [glasses] is not allowed in this House. It is not me that said it, but the House rules. So, please, let us always comply with these our rules,” he added.
‘We inherited a dire situation’ – Shettima defends Tinubu’s policies
Vice President Kashim Shettima says President Bola Tinubu’s administration inherited a dire situation when it took over in 2023.
Shettima stated this on Thursday in Abuja when he hosted a delegation from the United Nations System in Nigeria on a courtesy visit.
According to him, fuel subsidy had been an albatross around the neck of successive governments in Nigeria.
“We had two options: either we get rid of subsidy or subsidy will get rid of the Nigerian nation.
“We have to be our brother’s keeper, but we were literally subsidising the fuel of the entire West African region,” he said.
He said that President Tinubu’s decision to abolish the subsidy and unify the exchange rates to allow the naira to float freely “created a lot of challenges from the humanitarian end”.
Shettima added that removing fuel subsidy and unifying exchange rates were tough but necessary decisions to rescue Nigeria from economic disaster.
The Vice President, however, assured all that Nigeria would work closely with the UN to address the country’s challenges.
He also promised the UN delegation that Nigeria would close ranks with the global body.
Earlier, Mr Mohammed Fall, the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, had said that the global body would collaborate with President Tinubu’s administration to attain the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Nigeria.
He said that the UN was of the conviction that the success or failure of Africa depended on Nigeria.
According to him, the progress of Nigeria translates to the development of Africa.
“If Nigeria doesn’t make it, there is no chance for any country to make it.
“If Nigeria lifts it here, not only our sub-region but the entire continent and the world at large will be on track for the SDGs.
“If we succeed in Nigeria today, the whole of the continent succeeds, but if we have challenges or difficulties to succeed in Nigeria, I am sure it is all of our continent that will be pulled down,” he maintained.
On the proposed humanitarian response plan for Nigeria, Fall said that the plan was beyond helping those in need.
“We want to set the ground for a transition towards medium- and long-term development.
“We need to act now. It is the only way to sustain the successes recorded by the government and other partners to reduce vulnerability in society.”
He commended the measures so far taken by the Tinubu administration to reposition the economy and emphasised that Nigeria was critical to the progress of Africa and must be supported to succeed.
Fall pledged the UN System’s support for the reforms undertaken by the Tinubu administration.
He sought the partnership of the Federal Government to initiate a social safety programme that would mitigate the impact of the reforms on the most vulnerable in society.
“Your decision is commended everywhere, but we (at the UN) felt that before we get the results, there is a high risk that it could impact harshly on the most vulnerable segments of our community.
“And, at the UN, we stand next to you to try to look for solutions on how we can mitigate those impacts on the most vulnerable people.
“This is what we want, and that is our first initiative—how we can work together to step up our work on the social protection front.
“We want to make sure that a safety net is in place; we want to bring coherence, bring consistency in a way that helps us address vulnerability that is still prevailing in the country.
“The humanitarian situation in the north has improved, and this is thanks to your leadership.
“But, as we speak, there is still a humanitarian need; there is still a need to save lives; there is still vulnerability,” Fall said. (NAN)
I don't know how true the statement is, but a man like Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole would still have influence over the NLC till tomorrow (so the accusation is not all that far-fetched).
Oshiomhole is the brain behind our problems” – Labour Party deputy chairman alleges
The Deputy National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Comrade Ayo Olorunfemi, has pointedly accused a former national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, of being the brain behind the crisis in the LP.
Oshiomhole, a serving senator, is a former national chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
The NLC and the leadership of the LP have been at loggerheads over the ownership of the party.
In an interview with a national newspaper, Olorunfemi said Oshiomhole’s ‘boys’ created a crisis between the NLC and the LP.
His words: ”This party rose from the ashes when former Governor Mimiko won election twice and used it to better the lots of the people of Ondo State.
”He left because Adams Oshiomhole will always seek to control the soul of the NLC. At that time, I was not too active in the party, but now, we will not allow Oshiomhole to take over the party.”
Asked if he was certain Oshiomhole was behind the crisis in the LP, Olorunfemi said:
”He is not playing it openly, but we can see his hands and his imprimatur everywhere. We can see the roles being played by his people and his numerous supporters since the crisis began.
”The people fomenting this crisis are his boys. We know him, we know what he can do, and we know what he has done in the past.
”We saw how he frustrated former Governor Mimiko and others out of the party. We told them that it was dangerous to allow Oshimhole to have a field day. We want Mimiko back in our party, and after this war, we will bring him back.
”That was what the party could not do at that time that made Mimiko and others leave the party.”
Bandits Kill Two Security Operatives, Burn Nigerian Military Vehicles In Zamfara
Bandits have relaunched another attack on Tsafe town, the headquarters of Tsafe local government area of Zamfara State where they burnt two operational vehicles of the military and killed two members of the state security outfit, Community Protection Guards (CPG), in the area.
A source, Malam Usman Tsafe, said the the bandits had besieged the town wielding sophisticated weapons.
According to him, the bandits divided themselves into three different groups with the first group attempting to attack Zamfara State College of Health Science and Technology located in the area, Leadership reports.
The other groups went straight into the town, shooting sporadically into the air for them to get easy passage to kidnap residents and the students of the State College of Health Science and Technology located in the town.
“During the gun duel, two CPG operatives lost their lives and two operational vehicles belonging to the military and Zamfara CPG were also set ablaze by tye bandits,” he stated.
He, however, added that the quick response by a joint team of military, Police and CPG thwarted the bandits’ attack and forced them to retreat back to the forest with gunshot wounds.
