at least by your reasoning if cameraplay means camera and press play, then screen play must mean to have a television screen, and then press play. haba! brother! stop disgracing us na.

as for the differences between movie scripts and screenplay. go do your research first. then if you still cant see the differences, then i will point them out to you. one very important one being the action tenses used. and i see tony, that some people have tried to call your attention to your wrong use of tense.

^^not really. a movie script is different from a screen play.

movie scripts, stage plays, story books, comics, etc are in the first category. screenplays, shooting scripts, addendums, etc are in the second category. this means that they are done after the original work has been done. nowadays, it is common in hollywood to see a new second category dept called cameraplay. this is a script that caters for what the camera should see: in order to show effectively.

i have seen it and its good. i give it an A for effort. but quite frankly, it still needs a lot of work and more importantly, the writer, tony, needs to understand the rudiments of scriptwriting. as well as screenplaying. his script is a mixture of both. using point of view of characters as well as camera angles even when not necessary, is a common mistake. this lowers the value of the script.

please lets leave this matter. its unprofitable to argue. old nollywood gave us new nollywood. the greatest attribute of nollywood is its ability to churn out nice movies at little cost, maximising profit. so even though i respect new nollywood, they DO NOT GROSS as much as old nollywood. furthermore ALL new nollywood practitioners owe their success to their appearances in old nollywood movies.

tony, having lynx impression on the whole costing thing is wrong. why not google the cost of purchase of scripts. IT IS A PERCENTAGE OF TOTAL PRODUCTION COST. google and see for yourself. in hollywood we have what is known as the OPTION system. in nollywood, we dont have that system. so, tony, if someone wants to buy your script, find out what his budget for the movie would look like and go for 5percent of it.

@lynx, thats spot on. if you check out the figures you will see that nollywood producers spend an average of 3mill on a movie, hence the budget of about 200thou for script.

as for intellectual props, it depends on you and your bargaining power.

as for providing the base, in hollywood, it is pegged at about 3percent of total production costs. in nollywood, it is about 5percent.

conventionally, it is known that the movie script draws two fees from the producers. the first one is a fee for intellectual property. the second is a fee for providing the base on which production is built.

the first one isnt fixed but the second is.

i really cant see the argument here. i stated earlier that the TYPE of movie determines the specs. so what the point of saying things like- "its not done unless the movie is one that is a race against time"? the fact that its a flick like 24 HOURS, shows its a different type of movie and should be treated as such. and its totally wrong to think that fantasy films obey the same rules of DAY and NIGHT. that is totally a rookie move. lmao.

^^we are all learning but just imagine you are a producer shooting a DAY scene. and you set up location which happens to be in front of a mosque. and the muslims praying in the background are all facing the east. and the real time is 5pm. but your characters lines say its 9am in the morning. a quick look at the shadows of houses and people in frame would expose the obvious fail.

to what alkaline thinks, its hollywood producers that would readily read works with more detailed headings. stuff like the position of the sun light, as well as the background noise, are hidden in the words DAY or NIGHT.

then, we should also not forget fantasy films like harry porter. how do we relate the words DAY and NIGHT in a setting that is magical to say the least? how do we dramatically morph between times of peace and danger? if not by detailing the start of a sequence?
