Foreign Affairs / DR Congo Police Kill Christians For Protesting President's Rule by Skillz92: 12:46am On Jan 02, 2018
Police in the Democratic Republic of Congo allegedly opened fire and deployed tear gas inside churches on Sunday, killing at least eight Christians, and arrested more than 100 people after Christians carrying Bibles and crucifixes joined protests against the rule of President Joseph Kabila.

Eighty-two people, including priests, were taken into custody in Kinshasa, while 41 people were arrested in the rest of the vast African nation, after protests were held against President Kabila's refusal to step down from power, AFP reported, noting that a policeman was among those killed.

The government had banned the protests under the pretext that it didn't have the capacity to police them, and had shut down mobile phone text message and data signals for "state security" reasons, according to The Times.

Kabila, 46, has been president of the Catholic-majority country since his father Lauren was assassinated in 2001.

The president had earlier said he would step down after the electoral roll was updated, and then claimed that the election won't be possible due to security and financial reasons. He had agreed on a church-brokered deal for a transitional government and elections in 2017.

Catholic churches and activists had called for peaceful protests to mark a year since the accord was signed to set a new election date, free political prisoners and ease tensions, according to France 24.

On Sunday morning, police officers dispersed worshipers from a mass in the parish of St. Michael's in central Kinshasa, a witness was quoted as saying. "While we were praying, the soldiers and the police entered the church compound and fired tear gas at the church."

Another parishioner stated, "People fell, first-aiders are resuscitating old ladies who have fallen," and added that the priest carried on saying mass.

At the Notre-Dame of Congo Cathedral in Gombe, north Kinshasa, security forces also fired tear gas as opposition leader Felix Tshisekedi arrived. The parish priest asked worshipers to "return to their homes in peace because there is a heavy presence of soldiers and police ready to fire."
In June, the Catholic Church reported that as many as 3,383 people had been slaughtered in violence in the central Kasai region, stemming from the conflict between anti-government militia and the government's army.
The church noted at the time that the army had destroyed 10 villages in its attempts to put down the insurrection. The anti-government militia, on the other hand, had killed hundreds of people, destroyed four villages and attacked church property.

The conflict flared up in mid–2016 when tribal chieftain Kamwina Nsapu in Kasai called for an insurgency after the government refused to recognize his authority in the province. Nsapu was killed in an August 2016 security forces raid, which prompted his followers to start a campaign to avenge his death, which has resulted in a war with the government.

The Catholic Church's adherents account for close to 50 percent of the population in the country.

Foreign Affairs / Egypt Sentences Ex-president, Morsi To Prison by Skillz92: 11:30pm On Dec 30, 2017
A Cairo criminal court sitting has sentenced former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi and 19 others to three years in prison on Saturday, and fined him 2 million Egyptian pounds ($112,700) on charges of insulting the judiciary.

The other defendants include former members of parliament, activists and three journalists.
Five other defendants, including jailed activist Alaa Abdel Fattah, were fined 30,000 pounds (about $1,680) each.
The defendants had all been charged with making statements deemed insulting to the judiciary.
Morsi had already been sentenced to a total of 45 years in prison in two other trials after the military ousted him in 2013.
In the latest sentence, he was also ordered to pay two million pounds to the head of the judges’ syndicate and another judge, while 22 other defendants were ordered to pay one million pounds to the head of the syndicate.
Morsi’s lawyer Abdel Moneim Abdel Maqsud told AFP that he would appeal the verdict.
Thousands of Islamists have been arrested and put on trial since the military ousted the divisive Morsi following mass protests demanding his resignation.
The crackdown extended to other opponents of then army chief now President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who was elected a year after Morsi’s overthrow.
Morsi, democratically elected after Egypt’s 2011 revolution, was overthrown in mid-2013 by then-general Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, now the president, following mass protests against his rule.
He was immediately arrested and is now serving a 20-year sentence after being convicted of inciting the killing of protesters during demonstrations in 2012 and a 25-year sentence for spying for Qatar.

Religion / Why Did The Wise Men Bring Gifts To Jesus? by Skillz92: 7:43am On Dec 25, 2017
The answer to this question is more important than you ever knew! It reveals vital understanding about the very identity and future role of Jesus Christ!.

The scriptural account surrounding Jesus’ birth tells of wise men traveling a great distance from the east to present the young Christ child with gifts. What is the reason for imparting gifts to a small child? Who did these men believe they were honoring?

Confused customs
First of all, the Bible does not tell us the exact number of wise men, and they were not present for His birth in a manger as is so often depicted in nativity scenes every December.

Matthew 2:1, 11 shows that the young child Jesus was already in a house by the time the wise men visited and offered their gifts. “Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem. … And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.”

This is only one illustration of how Christmas customs have actually distorted the events surrounding Jesus’ birth. Other articles on this website demonstrate this fact in much more depth. Be sure to read some of these eye-opening assessments of commonly held traditions.

The question we are exploring in this article is why wise men brought gifts to a child who was too young to appreciate them in the first place. What motivated these men to feel it was appropriate to present anything? Who did they think Jesus was, and why did they come all that way?

The answer reveals an often overlooked reality about the Son of God.

Gifts fit for a king
Matthew 2:2 tells us that the wise men came looking for a king. They did not ask where they could find the Savior of mankind. They were following the common custom of presenting gifts to royalty or one destined to be a ruling monarch.

Because of 2,000 years of the Christian experience, most everyone today thinks of Jesus only in the context of one who “takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29). And He did that, of course.

Christ’s role as Savior of mankind is made clear in the New Testament. However, there is another often-overlooked role Christ will fulfill, one that is repeatedly emphasized in the Gospels—that of Christ being a ruling king.

Notice the statement to Mary when she was told she would conceive a child: “He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David” (Luke 1:32).

Mary was told her Son would be a king and would sit on a throne. This was precisely the expectation of Jesus’ own disciples (Luke 24:21; Acts 1:6).

Looking for the Messiah …
The Jews had long been anticipating the arrival of the Messiah. He would be a descendant of David who would reestablish the Davidic throne and usher in the prophesied period of restored greatness in a new kingdom (Isaiah 9:6; Isaiah 11:2; Daniel 7:13-14).

When Jesus rode into Jerusalem just before His crucifixion, an Old Testament prophecy of Zechariah was recounted: “All this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying: ‘Tell the daughter of Zion, “Behold, your King is coming to you, lowly, and sitting on a donkey, a colt, the foal of a donkey”’” (Matthew 21:4-5).

The Son of God
Few today consider that when a first-century Jew heard the term son of God, it prompted thoughts of earthly rulership and divine appointment rather than a position in the Godhead. Biblically, son of God could signify any exclusive relationship with God (the angels are called sons of God in Job 1:6, as was the nation of Israel in Exodus 4:22).

Yet the term had an amplified application for the Messiah, the offspring of David.

David was called God’s son in Psalm 2:7. Solomon was also a son of God who inherited David’s throne (2 Samuel 7:12-16).

These sons of God actually acted as agents for God ruling on His throne. “Then Solomon sat on the throne of the LORD as king instead of David his father, and prospered; and all Israel obeyed him” (1 Chronicles 29:23). Fulfilling this role would eventually be a glorious messianic function.

Jesus was the only begotten Son of God with respect to His miraculous birth; God was His Father. And in the kingly or messianic sense, He was the ultimate Son of God—the One who had a divinely appointed destiny to be given David’s throne.

This is why Nathaniel stated in John 1:49, “Rabbi, You are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!” To him, it seems, the terms were synonymous. He began to believe Jesus was the prophesied son of David for whom Israel was waiting; the One destined to restore the greatness of David’s (God’s) earthly throne.

Born—King of the Jews
At the time of Christ’s birth, the Jews already had a king, named Herod. He ruled as a vassal under the Roman authorities, but he was a king nevertheless.

When the wise men came seeking Jesus, what did they say? “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews?” (Matthew 2:1-2). For the paranoid King Herod, this was very troubling indeed! Neglecting any spiritual implications of Christ’s birth, Herod clearly recognized the threat to his own throne and attempted to kill Jesus, unsuccessfully (Matthew 2:12-16).

Jesus was continually examined as to whether or not He claimed to be a king. When the high priest questioned Jesus at His mock trial, he asked, “I put You under oath by the living God: Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God!”(Matthew 26:63). The high priest was likely not inquiring about His divinity, but was looking for a way to charge Him with treason for declaring that He was Israel’s king, the Messiah (Luke 22:67-71). The high priest then told Pilate that Jesus claimed to be a king (Luke 23:2-3).

John 18:33 states, “Then Pilate entered the Praetorium again, called Jesus, and said to Him, ‘Are You the King of the Jews?’” (See also John 18:39; John 19:3, 14). This is why the Roman soldiers shamefully gave Jesus a crown of thorns and why the sign above His cross read, “JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS” (John 19:2, 19). The whole context of Jesus’ crucifixion from the Roman and Jewish perspective was about His claiming to be a king of Israel not a Savior of mankind.

Christ’s Kingdom still to come
Jesus came to give His life as our Savior so that humans can be reconciled to God, have their sins forgiven and eventually be granted eternal life in the Kingdom of God. But He also came as the King of that Kingdom—the King of Kings and Lord of Lords who will reign during the coming millennial age on this earth.

Christ will rule the nations from Jerusalem on the restored throne of David (Luke 1:32; Revelation 11:15). The Old Testament prophecies of the coming King are the reason the wise men were looking for a promised sovereign and why they brought gifts to the Child they knew would one day be King.

Religion / The Validity Of The Bible Old Testament by Skillz92: 9:32am On Dec 23, 2017
The Validity of the Old Testament by Kingsley Onukwube

Must we have blind, unreasonable faith to believe the Bible to be true? Or are there sound reasons that the Bible, and specifically the Old Testament, can be accepted as reliable in every part?

The Old Testament writers believed their message was God-breathed and, therefore, utterly reliable. More than 400 times from Exodus 4:22 to Malachi 1:4, they declared, in just three Hebrew words, “Thus says the Lord.”

Below are facts according to Brother Kingsley Onukwube that proves that the Old testament is still Valid today.

1. It is God’s inspired word handed down to Moses and the prophets and can never pass away nor be abolished. Mat.5:17-19, mk13:31, 1pet 1:25

2. It speaks and reveals the person of Christ. Jn 5:39, Acts 26:22, 28:23, Lk 24:25,27,44, heb 10.7

3. The accuracy of the events: every good student of prophecy will agree with me that every prophecy predicted in the old testament about christ was fulfilled. Some are futuristic.

4. Christ kept the law by attending & honouring jewish feasts & festivals mat 5:17-19

5. All the apostles & saints of old kept the law including paul. Acts 18:18, 21:17-26

6. It is the source of eternal life. Jn 5:39, Lk 10:25,26, 18:18, Deut 8:3

7. Written through the Inspiration of the holy spirit. 2tim 3.16, 2pet 1:21, 1cor 2:10-12.

8. It is pure, infallible, right & to be trusted. Psa 12:6, 18.30, 19.7-9, 119.128,140,142, prov 30.5,6, Jn 17:17

9. They were written for our learning. Rom 15. 4, 2 tim 3:16

10. Written for our warning & admonition 1Cor 10.11.

11. Written to give us hope. Rom 15.4

12. Able to make us wise 2 tim 3:15.

Let us avoid preachers who condemn the law. They are antichrist. Your views & corrections will be highly appreciated

Religion / Salvation Army Pastor Beaten For Wishing Man ‘merry Christmas’ by Skillz92: 11:41pm On Dec 21, 2017
A Salvation Army bell ringer and minister who was collecting donations and spreading holiday cheer in front of a Walmart store in Roseville, California, got the shock of his life Wednesday when he was battered by an unidentified man for wishing him a “merry Christmas.”

“He haymakered me, hit me, got me down on the ground and we started wrestling, at that point I’m fighting for my life,” the Rev. Jamie Wolfe, Sr., told CBS Sacramento.

It was “definitely unexpected,” Wolfe, who suffered bumps and bruises from the attack, said. “I greet everybody ‘merry Christmas.'”

Police say the bell ringer’s attacker is still on the run but there’s hope that surveillance video can identify the man who tried to silence Wolfe’s Christmas cheer.

Lt. Steve Pavlakis with the Salvation Army told CBS, “[The] store says they love him and he’s been the best bell ringer they’ve ever had, so an attack that’s unprovoked is very surprising and very unfortunate. It’s not the call we’d expect to get at night. It’s really saddening that one of our bell ringers would be out there working day after day for us that’s met with hate and punches to the face and kicks to the face.”

The “merry Christmas” greeting has been a flashpoint in the “war on Christmas” debate in recent years.

While on the campaign trail in 2015, President Donald Trump promised that he would do away with political correctness and push the traditional “merry Christmas” greeting at “every store.”

“I’m a good Christian. If I become president, we’re gonna be saying ‘merry Christmas’ at every store,” he promised voters in Iowa in 2015. “You can leave ‘happy holidays’ at the corner.”

Just last month as he lit up the Christmas tree at the White House, he tweeted: “Today is a day that I’ve been looking very much forward to ALL YEAR LONG. It is one that you have heard me speak about many times before. Now, as President of the United States, it is my tremendous honor to finally wish America and the world, a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!”

Religion / Halleluyah Challenge: Lady With Advanced Breast Cancer Gets Healed by Skillz92: 10:43pm On Dec 21, 2017
God is still working miracles!

Gospel artiste Nathaniel Bassey shared this testimony of a lady identified as Ndanatswa-Maggie Masek, who had advanced breast cancer and had a short time to live.

In spite of various medical treatments, the cancer remained. However, after participating in the two editions of Nathaniel Bassey’s ‘Halleluyah challenge’ and having strong faith in God, the unbelievable happened.

Here is her testimony as shared by Bassey:

“Dear Pastor,

I am leaping with joy , my name is Ndanatswa -Maggie Maseko and please do not hide my name . I have sent you pictures on instagram . It’s been a long journey and l will try and summarise. I was diagnosed with locally advanced invasive lobular carcinoma left breast, grade 2 ER 8/8 HER2 negative, 5/8 nodes. I went through chemotherapy and radiotherapy only to be told that the disease was MORE locally advanced, the tumour was fixed to skin and chest wall. I was told that there was nothing which could be done anymore for me, the cancerous tumour was inoperable as it was attached to my chest wall and l should continue talking letrozole.

In other words, it meant that it was only a matter of time before l went to glory. Try and imagine how difficult it is to be told that you are going to die. I continued as normal because l refused to accept this terrible report, l told my family and close friends. I chose to trust God over what the doctors were saying. KICC(Chatham) is the church that l go to, pastor Matthew A Ashimolowo (2016) prayed for me and the whole church was in agreement. He rebuked the spirit of death, cursed cancer and l kept thanking God for prolonging my life.

Then pastor Nathaniel Bassey (2017) led the Hallelujah Challenge (Olowogbogboro and Open Heavens ) and l participated in both . Pastor Nathaniel came to London during the Olowogbogboro and l was ill, could not attend but my friend Sophia Francis attended and asked Pastor Nathaniel to pray for me over the phone and he did. During the Open Heavens people with cancer were prayed for, it was one of the diseases which was placed in Pastor Nathaniel’s spirit. Pastor Nathaniel was given a word by God and l quote, before this year ends 2017, you will hear a sound that will cause everything around you and within you to leap for joy. I kept reminding God of His word.

Yesterday (17/12/2017) pastor Mathew Ashimolowo shared a testimony of a man who was supernaturally healed of cancer. I tapped into the anointing and l danced before God for my healing. Today (18/12/2017) l went to Royal Marsden hospital.

Last week l had all sorts of scans and tests done. To the glory of God, the results show 2 EXTREMELY SMALL patches in my breast of which they are not even sure if its active cancer and that cancer never spread in my body. The consultant said it’s as if l have never had cancer. I broke down, cried and thanked God in front of the medical professionals. I was given a year to live, was told that my case is hopeless, and nothing can be done. I had cancer all over my left breast and under my armpit. Don’t tell me that God is not real. Will be having surgery to remove the EXTREMELY small patches, but l believe God will take the small patches too. So much l could have written but l had to summarise. I am leaping with joy, God is more than able and He is faithful. Just believe God one more time, He is a God of hopeless situations. Cancer met JESUS CHRIST .

2 years 6 months l had cancer and it was an aggressive type of cancer but it did not spread in my body . No-one can tell me that God is not real , l will call that person a liar . I know Olowogbogboro for myself and no-one can tell me otherwise . Everything around me and within me is leaping for joy.

Music/Radio / How To Get Your Music Heard by Skillz92: 2:05pm On Dec 20, 2017
There is a lot more to being a serious artist than just making music. If you have any aspirations of having a career or getting on someone’s radar, professionalism is a must. There is a point where talent can only take you so far, and for some, that talent is never even realized by anyone because of a complete failure of simple and concise communication.

The number ONE way to get your music heard in today’s world is through the Internet. Sometimes you get lucky and a song on Soundcloud or YouTube blows up organically or gets playlisted but what does everyone else who isn’t so fortunate do?

Enter, the elusive (especially in hip-hop), press release.

A press release is your entire brand, identity, career, and “handshake” in one shot. Think of it as a resume of what you’re currently doing, and whenever you send one out, it’s like sending a job a resume…remember, first impressions and the aforementioned “handshake.” You might only get one shot.

But before we dive into a press release, let’s talk about publications.

Many times your submission, which let’s be honest, it’s really a pitch for coverage, is going to a submission box or a busy editor. A generic submission box might get a few hundred emails a day. It takes a lot of time to sort through these emails if they can even be kept up with at all. The same goes for editors. If you don’t hear a reply, 75% of the time it’s because they didn’t A) see your email or B) don't care enough to click it because they didn’t recognize the name. There are two ways to combat both points, STAND OUT!

This next part is time-consuming but very crucial, DO YOUR RESEARCH. Look on the blog, website, magazine, etc. for any keys to how to submit. If they list 1 - 8 steps to follow, nail every single one. They are saying, “Do this and we’ll notice.”

If you are trying to get in touch with a certain section, editor, writer, search the site for contact information or an email to send to. Try to avoid stalking them on social media, and messaging them on every platform. It can come across as annoying or off-putting. (Twitter is least invasive for hitting up people you don’t know F.Y.I.).

Now, browse the website. Look at what kinds of articles they post, and check out their writing style. Look for artists who fit into a similar mold as yourself and see if they even cover that. For instance, and this happens ALL THE TIME if you’re pitching to a Christian website, maybe don’t submit music littered with profanity or graphic sexuality. In the same vein, if you’re music is explicitly hardcore Christian, you probably won’t get your video posted on to WorldStar unless you pay…but you might if you’re good enough. Learn how to gauge and read what a website will publish and figure out whether to invest your time or not.

Also, make sure you get the genre right. Don’t submit a mixtape to an alternative rock website. Don’t send a Christian hip-hop site your death metal cover of one corner song. Be aware of the formats.

Also, the kiss of death in an email is to write, “[Publication] is my favorite, I read it all the time and have been following for years.” Then the next sentence or even the music indicates that this statement isn’t true at all and that you just swap the name out every time you send. Having a template is great, but sometimes scenarios dictate a little more than a name change and email address. Be as personable with someone you don’t see or know to the best of your ability.

Now, let’s talk about that “nice to meet you email.”

It doesn’t matter who you are or what kind of relationship you have with the person who is going to post your stuff, keep it consistent from the first handshake to them being the best man at your wedding. Why should you get less professional as you go?

DO NOT just drop a link to a video or song with nothing else. That says nothing of who you are, and will usually get ignored.

DO NOT say, “Yo sup guys?? Peep my mixtape.” Would you introduce yourself like that at a job?

DO NOT make your whole introduction but not supply the needed information. Remember, you may only have one shot to be seen. That first email should include everything the person needs to know who you are. They shouldn’t have to respond with, “Please send me a picture, please send music for download, etc.”

DO NOT litter your email with typos. Ex: getting your name, dates, tracks, etc. It’s happened.

DO NOT send an email that has all CC’s attached or says forward on the subject. It shows that the person is just “another” place to pitch and lacks that one to one feel.

DO provide a summary of who you are with the most important details or accomplishments you have.

DO provide links to where your music can be heard.

DO provide a high-res photo of yourself and artwork.

DO provide all relevant social media links so they can link people to you.

DO be clear and concise in the heading. EX: “ATTN: Young Clueless Drops Debut Single ‘What am I Doing?’: Music Video Debuts 1/1/18”

Remember, if you provide all the info, it’s less work the writer has to do. If I never heard of you and I have to spend 20 minutes looking up what you’re all about, I’m going to pass. If I never heard of you, but your entire story is written out, I can take that 20 minutes and post you.

Don’t make the publication put more effort in writing about you than you writing to them. Writers have a limited amount of time and deadlines to hit, they can just move on to the next more professional submission even if your music is better.

Now, for the 25% of the times, the publication doesn’t answer.

Sometimes your press release is perfect but the person reviewing doesn’t like your music. Sometimes everything is perfect but maybe that place isn’t posting new artists right now. Everything could be perfect but your music does not fit with the direction of what the site posts. And sometimes, and this is tough to swallow, your music just isn’t up to snuff. Maybe the quality is bad or maybe the talent is lacking. Remember, this is subjective though. So perhaps another place will like your music.

Don't give up! One to two follow-ups are perfectly fine over a two week period. Do not do it the same day or even the next day. Also, don’t just copy and paste or forward the same email every time, change up your approach. What you did the first time didn’t work, why would you do it again?

Often times, emails get lost or piled up, and that second email could be a good reminder of someone the publication wanted to post but it got lost in the abyss.

Also, don’t expect a reply. If you are fortunate enough to receive one, great, if not, don’t email demanding one or asking for a review of your music. If they don’t have time to post it or like it enough to post it, they aren’t going to give you a list of reasons that you’ll probably object to anyway.

If you don’t think you are able to write a press release or an introductory email before the release, find someone who can do it for you. Sometimes a professional look is the best thing money can buy for an artist!

Now before you conquer the world with your shiny press release and music resumes, let's cover a few other things…

Artists, remember, a publication does not work for you. They are not responsible for marketing or promoting your product, YOU are. Present yourself in the best and most professional way possible regardless of where you're at. Invest in your craft, don't make others do it for you. If they offer packages and you can afford it, figure out the best one to advance your brand and weigh your options. If you don’t think you need that, then don’t feel pressured to do so.

Also, don’t take shots at a publication if they don’t post you. One day they might want to and will remember your negative chatter on social media. Just like people who get fired from their jobs for old social media posts…same thing.

Don’t submit old songs or news. If your album came out two months ago, don’t send out press releases now. You missed your window. Singles have a bit more leeway, but if it’s more than a few weeks, it’s over. One exception would be in a music video or song suddenly went viral.

Also, make sure you send over the music that is the best representation of who you are all the time. If you’re a conscious rapper and send over a trap song to try to make it on a trap site, you’ll eventually be found out. In reality, don’t send over something whack! One making that first impression send the best and newest thing you have.

If you are an artist or band who keeps your music social media pages on private - open them up!. How are you supposed to get your name out if no one can see it? The same can be said about a serious artist who uses their non-artist name to push music. It’s fine to have an artist page and a personal page, but don’t confuse the brand by making it into one or pushing stuff through different names.

Lastly, in music journalism, everyone wants to be your "bro" until you don't write about them or for them. Then, you just never existed or are a hater. This person’s job is to write about music. You can’t make someone like something they don’t like. Just get tough skin and move on. It’s nothing personal, writers are thinking of what’s best for their audience. Agree to disagree and keep moving. Use it as fuel to prove why they missed out on posting.

That’s it. If you have any other questions, hit the link below

Religion / 10 Easy Ways To Create A Safer Church This Sunday by Skillz92: 11:15am On Dec 02, 2017

Starting a safety and security program at your church doesn’t have to be complicated or costly—it’s important to do what you can. “Many churches don’t know where to start, or think that a huge budget is necessary to develop a team,” Parmelee says. “There are many things churches can do right now that are low cost or no cost.”

Is your leadership motived to make changes today? It’s possible to make quick, meaningful changes. Jump-start your plan with these 10, do-it-today action steps:

1. Assign roles.

In an emergency, determine who will call 911, who will talk to authorities, and who will talk to the media. Assign backups for each role.

2. Identify trained professionals within the membership.

Look for trained medical professionals, current or former law enforcement officers, and members with military or security backgrounds.

3. Invest in two-way radios.

Two-way radios eliminate spotty cell service and scrambling to locate a list of internal phone numbers. Ushers, day care workers, and office staff equipped with two-way radios can relay information quickly throughout your building or campus.

4. Create a single entrance into the church.

Assign an usher or team member to lock doors once your service starts. Any unlocked doors should be actively monitored. All other entrances should be inaccessible from the outside of your church. Ensure that the exit doors remain unlocked from the inside.

5. Monitor doors and lots.

During services, assign a volunteer to monitor an unlocked door or two volunteers for the parking lot. Equip your volunteers with two-way radios.

6. Move your pulpit.

If your pulpit is in the middle of the stage or platform, consider relocating it to the side. By doing this, pastors and other groups facing the congregation can be closer to an exit or side room. Position people at the front of the congregation who can observe comings and goings during the service.

7. Draw attention to the exits.
This may seem obvious, but in an emergency, it’s easy to forget about side or back exits. Start your message this weekend by pointing out all exits to your congregants.

8. Ask, “what if it happened here?”

Schedule a leadership or staff meeting to spur discussion. Brotherhood Mutual offers several free resources to help guide you through difficult topics.

9. Obtain a list of area crimes.

Your local police department can provide a list of crimes that have happened near your address.

10. Knowing is half the battle.

Invite local law enforcement, a fire marshal, ambulance service, or your insurance agent to your campus to identify trouble spots. They’ll help you better understand potential risks and offer solutions to help you create a safer church environment.

Religion / Can Man Be Moral Without Jesus? by Skillz92: 11:01am On Dec 02, 2017
Man was created in the image of God. And so by nature, man is a moral being. Unfortunately for man, sin is also part of his existence, and sinful desires lead man to disobey God’s commands. At the same time, billions of people who don’t know Jesus live according to their favorite moral code.

We all have favorites, even in the realm of morality. We make choices based on our perceptions, our beliefs, and the cultural norms of our society. Mulitudes of people who do not profess faith in Christ are nevertheless seeking to live moral lives in whatever way they perceive to best fit their worldview and their approach to ethics.

So can man be moral without Jesus? Of course. Morality merely involves living according to a particular system of values and principles of conduct. For example, many people in the world do not engage in theft because it is unjust. It unfairly takes advantage of others, and it also tends to go against man’s conscience.

Man’s conscience is part of our Creator’s design for human beings. And when someone goes against their conscience, it can result in a violation of God’s law and perhaps even man’s law. It is important to know that your conscience can be seared by continually going against it. In that situation, your conscience essentially becomes your personal defense attorney. On the other hand, your conscience by nature serves as the prosecuting attorney if you are quick to respond appropriately when it presents a case against you.

The apostle Paul explained how this happens to those who become “a law for themselves…their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts now accusing, now even defending them.” (Romans 2:14,15)

And so unbelievers, like believers, all have a conscience and are accountable to God’s law. This is true regardless of whether or not a person acknowledges God and His Word. If you break the law by speeding when traveling down the highway, you may be pulled over by a state trooper. Even if you were unaware of the speed limit in that area, it doesn’t change the fact that you broke the law and you may be held accountable.

When it comes to God’s highway, everyone in the world is accountable to God’s Law. You may say, “But I don’t believe in God.” Well, whether you “believe in” state troopers or not, they are going to hold you accountable to their laws when you enter their jurisdiction. Likewise, you entered God’s jurisdiction when you came into His world, and God always abides by His Word. “It is impossible for God to lie,” (Heb. 6:18) and it is impossible for God to “lower the bar” or ignore His standard of perfection.

As God looks down from heaven upon man, He sees plenty of moral acts being carried out by people all over the world for a variety of reasons. He also sees that each one of us is a lawbreaker who deserves to be punished.

Scripture declares that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

So what is God to do? Ignore His own Law? Just forget about it? Obviously not. Such behavior would make God less than perfect and less than just.

Since God is perfect in justice and perfect in love, He did what was needed to spare us from being punished for our sin, while at the same time maintaining His perfection on every level.

“The law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.” (Heb. 9:22) And so God provided what was needed. “Christ entered the Most Holy Place once for all by His own blood, having obtained eternal redemption…..How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!” (Heb. 9:12,14)

While man can be moral without Jesus, he can never be unblemished before God without Christ. Only the Savior lived a perfect life and died a holy and sacrificial death on our behalf. In fact, if Jesus had sinned even one time, He could not qualify to be anyone’s Savior. Instead, He would need a Savior Himself.

Thankfully, Christ came to earth to redeem those who fall far short of perfection. As sinners, each one of us needs the blood of Christ to be applied to our sin through faith. It’s the only way to gain entrance into God’s family and into the Lord’s eternal kingdom.

You see, there is something far more important than simply living a moral life. You and I were created to live a life that God accepts as pleasing in His sight. So are you accepted by God, or are you still trying to earn the forgiveness of your sins by your best efforts at living a moral life?

Since you were created in the image of God, you are a moral being. But just make sure you understand that natural morality is not synonymous with Christian morality. One stems from a person’s conscience, while the other is rooted in the cross of Christ and in the Word of God.

And while man can certainly be moral to a certain extent without Jesus, he can never be declared righteous in God’s sight by his own righteousness and morality. As the apostle Paul wrote, “We maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law.” (Romans 3:28) That is to say, man is justified before God on the front end of his relationship with the Lord at the moment of his conversion.

Charles Spurgeon is known as the “Prince of Preachers.” Spurgeon famously said, “Morality will keep you out of jail, but only the blood of Jesus will keep you out of hell.”

Morality has never washed away even one sin. Only Christ’s blood has that kind of power, (1 John 1:7; Eph. 1:7) and only the cross of Christ provides the necessary foundation for living the Christian life. (1 Cor. 3:11)

So what is the basis of your personal morality? Is it your conscience? Or perhaps the culture around you? Or is it the Lord? For every believer, “no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.” (1 Cor. 3:11)

And once the foundation is laid through faith in the Savior, Christians are instructed in God’s Word to “make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (2 Peter:5-cool

And so you see, Christian morality is on a completely different trajectory than “Christless” morality. There truly is a narrow road to heaven, and a wide road to hell. (Matt. 7:13,14) Otherwise, Jesus wouldn’t have told us about these two extreme destinations. And both roads have plenty of people who are trying to live a moral life.

With that in mind, which spiritual highway are you on today? The broad road, or the narrow road?

Celebrities / Kierra Sheard Reply Critics After Being Called Out For Attending Jay-z Concert by Skillz92: 2:44am On Nov 25, 2017

Kierra Sheard responds to critics after being called out for attending Jay-Z Concert.

Kierra Sheard has a response for some of the criticism she received for attending and enjoying a Jay-Z concert.

Sheard took to Instagram to post an image of the rap mogul Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter performing at his current 4:44 tour, which she attended.

“So inspired by the fun and talk that Uncle gave last night,” Sheard captioned the image.

Several people disagreed with her support of Jay-Z since the rapper has lyrics that some Christians view as blasphemous like “Jesus can’t save you life starts when the church ends” from his 2009 hit song “Empire State of Mind.”

A number of Sheard’s followers told the 30-year-old gospel singer and fashion designer that they were concerned with her attending the concert so she decided to defend herself with Scripture when responding to one comment in particular.

An Instagram follower named tgxfit commented on Sheard’s picture of Jay-Z by writing, “Corinthians 6:14 Darkness and Light” to which the gospel singer responded with “1 Corinthians 9:20.” However, she took things one step further in her response when the critic asked if any Christians at the event used the opportunity to share the gospel.

“How many Christians or church goers actually witnessed or challenged someone last night to give their lives to Christ and attend a service this morning,” the comment reads. “I can almost guarantee none.”

However, Sheard decided to prove the critic wrong.

“Actually I had one right next to me. She was in tears with a cup in her hand,” Sheard replied in the exchange. “I hugged her, prayed for her, and WE went on rapping and singing. I’m sure she’ll remember that moment and it’ll weigh in on her spiritual decisions.”

Sheard said that she didn’t initially post about the experience, but went on to challenge her critic to grow in their relationship with God.

“Grow in your relationship. The church isn’t a building,” she wrote. “It’s a body of people. Stop waiting for them to come to you, live life freely and with accountability, and find yourself where they are. Be the church!”

The singer went on to call for people to stop making judgments without being loving to others.

“Stop judging and not displaying love. We act like condemnation–we point the finger but don’t give a solution,” she wrote. “We should act like the Holy Spirit/conviction–show the hinderance and give a solution.”

Sheard previously said she believes that people feeling judged contributes to keeping millennials away from church.

“What goes viral is when someone is actually being themselves and they’re being honest with their audience. I think that’s what will encourage millennials to come back [to church] because we eliminate the element of judging others,” she previously told The Christian Post. “I think that we’re so quick to judge people. I think that our approach is heavy and it allows us to push people away.”

Music/Radio / One Reason Why Millennials Are Leaving The Church – Kirk Franklin by Skillz92: 2:21am On Nov 25, 2017

Kirk Franklin believes he knows one reason why millennials are leaving the Church.

The 47-year-old gospel music artist, songwriter and executive who heads the Fo Yo Soul record label is currently co-headlining The Rebel The Soul & The Saint‎ tour along with soul singer Ledisi. This week, he spoke about an issue he feels is driving many millennials away from houses of worship.

“One of the reasons why I feel millennials are leaving the Church is because we showed them our scriptures without showing them our scars,” Franklin wrote on Instagram.

Franklin’s fellow gospel music artist James Fortune backed his industry peer’s statement by writing, “I agree” in his comment section.

The problem of millennials leaving the Church has been a topic of conversation for several years. In 2015, a Pew Research Center poll found that fewer than six in 10 millennials identify with Christianity. David Cox, PRRI’s director of research, supported those claims when he told The Christian Post last year that an estimated 39 percent of young adults between the ages of 18–29 identify themselves as nones, or religiously unaffiliated.

Kierra Sheard, a 30-year-old gospel singer, clothing designer and blogger, previously shared Franklin’s sentiments in an interview with The Christian Post. She emphasized that transparency within the Church can enable younger generations to feel less judged.

“I think in the Church we have to be transparent. We have to be open because at the end of the day we’re still questioning mothers on the front row who have five kids from five different men [but] we’re not going to ask them [about it],” she said. “We’re discussing it among ourselves, [saying], ‘Well she knows about the nasty. She knows what I’m struggling with because she’s been with five different men, but she’s the mother of the church.'”

Apologist Alex McFarland, co-author of Abandoned Faith: Why Millennials Are Walking Away and How You Can Lead Them Home, previously spoke to The Christian Post about another reason why young adults could be pulling away from the Church. According to McFarland, broken families are partially responsible for millennials leaving the Church.
He added, however, that genuine love and relationships could change things.

“We have to love people, build relationships, cultivate that trust, honesty and respect even if they never come to Christ,” McFarland said. “But the more our culture has drifted from any acknowledgment of a Christian foundation, the more you have to build a trust, a respectful relationship before you begin to even hope to share any content.”

Billy Graham Set to Mark 99th Birthday; Son Franklin Gives Update on Health, Plans for 100th Year
World famous evangelist Billy Graham is set to celebrate his 99th birthday on Nov. 7, with son Franklin Graham announcing that the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association will mark the major highlights of his life throughout the next year.
Nov. 7 will be a big milestone for my father as he turns 99 and enters his 100th year. As a family, we are just so very grateful that he is still with us. His mind is good but he’s quieter these days. He can’t see or hear well, but his health is stable,” Franklin Graham said Wednesday.
“On his birthday, some family will be with him and we’ll give him his favorite cake — a lemon cake with lard icing. He loves those cakes — but it has to have the lard icing,” he added.

At the Billy Graham Library we’ll have a special celebration that day, as this year is also the 10th anniversary of the opening of the library. We’ll have birthday cake for everyone who comes by.
Franklin Graham explained that as his father enters his 100th year, the BGEA will be marking the major moments from his eight decades of ministry.

Religion / Uk Church Appoints Transgender Man, Nonbinary, As Associate Pastor by Skillz92: 7:46pm On Oct 01, 2017
A UK church has appointed a transgender man, who says he is neither exclusively male nor female, as a new associate pastor.

The Rev. Peta Evans, who identifies as a non-binary, has been named as an associate pastor by the Village Metropolitan Community Church in Brighton, according to Premier.

“Returning to Brighton, I am excited to serve again in the community which first welcomed me and supported me in both my ministry journey and my gender transition,” Evans was quoted as saying. “I would love to see the sincere passion and integrity of The Village MCC reach out even more widely to people of all ages, gender identities and walks of life.”

Attending the Village MCC between 2003 and 2010, Rev Evan left the church to train as a clergy intern in north London. Rev Evans has also worked as a care worker and a tailor.

Music/Radio / Tasha Cobbs’ #heartpassionpursuit Album Hits No.1 On Billboard Charts by Skillz92: 6:52pm On Sep 07, 2017

Tasha Cobbs Leonard’s album, #HeartPassionPursuit emerges as the #1 Gospel Album and #1 Christian/Gospel Album on the billboard charts.

The singer who is signed to Motown Gospel took to her Instagram page to thank her fans and prayed that the album keeps blessing them.

“Hey Guys! Thank you for all the love and support you’ve shown for #HeartPassionPursuit!

I pray that this album continues to lead you to the feet of Jesus!!! If you don’t have it yet…Run and get it now!!! I Love You ALL!!! ❤️❤️❤️”

This good news comes after the huge amount of controversy surrounding 1 out of the 10 track songs where she collaborated with circular rapper Nicki Minaj ‘I’m Getting Ready‘.

The American Gospel Artist, received backlash from the church but Tasha wasn’t going to be bullied as she released a statement announcing that the single is directed towards a particular audience, those who have never experienced God.

“I’ve seen the Nicki that is off the stage and that Nicki has a great relationship with God.
My assignment with this song was for a particular audience,”

“Some [of the listeners] have never experienced God ever and she exposed that audience in her way, to the God that she loves.”

The album was produced by Kenneth Leonard. Tasha who is proud of the impact her collaboration made on her listeners said she will definitely do it again.

“The testimonies that have come because of this – I would absolutely do it again.
I’ve had thousands of people say to me, ‘This is the first time I’ve ever bought a gospel album.

This is the first time I’ve ever felt God. I didn’t believe in God until I heard this song.’”

This doesn't make any sense.

Op you quoted this verse...

Jer 1:5 KJV, “You saw me
before I was born and scheduled each day of my life before I began
to breathe. Every day was recorded in your book!” Ps 139: 16.
Before any human was created, God has already designed and
fashioned what such a person will be.

From the above, it's pretty obvious God already knows how your life will end up, and the little steps or things you do won't change that. Going by this assertion, it's safe to say that Hitler and Osama are just mules in the grand scheme of things. They fulfilled their destiny. Also, the thousands of people they killed also fulfilled their destinies - since God already had their lives planned out.

In conclusion, we are just robbots. Your actions doesn't change anything. He already knows who will go to heaven/hell, become a politician, doctor, lawyer; and He knows how we will end up to - whether by HIV, bullet wounds, Jungle justice, sickness, ebola etc.

That is why religion doesn't make sense.

Humans will always a product of their actions. It is what you do that defines our destiny. We don't just walk o our destinies, we create them

In the wise world's of Kal Max--- "Religion is the opiate of the masses"

this is the things paul saw and said that our weapons of warfare are not carnal but are mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds and of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. 2cor 10:4

people like Kal Max has built strongholds in your mind.
