I have being seeing so many people abusing and causing Wasiu Ayinde K1 because of his change in supporting Sanwo-Olu instead of Ambode. My question why is it now we are seeing something bad in K1's action. This is a musician that is supposed to be a legend like Bob Marley, Micheal Jackson, Fela Anikulapo, Mohammed Ali and so on. This are people that were approached by politicians to help them influence people because of there popularity but they refused. some of them were punished for this but they remain a legend. When K1 started collection millions from Tinubu from the Lagos state purse to sing election songs for him and after the same thing for Fashola. We are all enjoying the music and the man is saying he is collecting money for his job. If we have influence in the career of Nigerian musicians his career will have ended by now. Now that the Jagaban has asked him to change is mouth who do you think he will listen to.Do you think he will look at the consequence from the public that never bothered. Our leaders are a product of we the followers. Now another form of it is happening with Davido. This is a boy that was forced to go through school because his father owns a university. The father even had to create a course for him just to make sure he gets one irrelevant degree. That same boy is influencing his uncle who has Masters in F9 and we are all praising the boy as a good influence. The future will tell in Osun. Even if Aregbesola has failed in Osun which I accept so the next thing is to vote for a failure who has no sense of a responsible public figure. A man who is even afraid of a common debate only to tell us a lie a 5 year old will not believe to cover is absence. The 2 parties that has been ruling us has given us more pains than any tiny joy we can think of but I know for sure they will still be coming back with there little money to buy votes and my people will keep allowing them. My only prayer and hope is that how children will not be as weak as we are and they will stand up for good governance which we we never worked for.

The National Conscience Party (NCP) has lamented the suffering being unleashed on the masses of Lagos due to anti-people policies being implemented by the Governor Akinwunmi Abode of Lagos State.

Comrade Fatai Ibu-Owo, the NCP’s Lagos State Chairman, who spoke at the party’s political education programme on Saturday, lamented that the state administration had been inflicting pain on the people through heavy taxation and draconian policies.

Ibu-Owo cited the state’s water policy and the recent Land Use Charge, which he said were not only constitutional, but were skewed in favour of the government and the rich to impoverish the masses.
The NCP chief tackled the members of the Lagos State House of Assembly, who he described as rubber stamps and stooges to the executive and do not have the minds of their own.

He wondered why honourable lawmakers could be passing what he termed as anti-people and obnoxious bills, instead of laws that should put the state and its people in the right direction.

Ibu-Owo said: “I want to draw the attention of the people to the rubber stamp Lagos State House of Assembly. These 40 members are the major problem and people behind all the obnoxious laws.
“Comrades, we need to challenge these men to put Lagos in the right direction. Ambode cannot pass any law. He can only perform executive functions

“Members of the Lagos House of Assembly are dummies; they do not reject or question any proposal from the governor, thereby making them to be ‘sit don look’ lawmakers.”
Ibu-Owo called on Lagosians to use the opportunity provided by the 2019 elections to pass a vote of no confidence on all the lawmakers in the state House of Assembly and ensure that none of them is returned.

He also urged Lagosians to support the NCP to produce a capable replacement of Ambode in the next election, who would provide purposeful leadership for the people and bring to an end the regime of anti-people laws in the state.

Comrade Gbenga Komolafe, the General Secretary of the Federation of Informal Workers Union of Nigeria (FIWON) , in his keynote address, said the time has come for the NCP to participate in elections and win.

He called on the party to focus not only on the presidential and governorship positions in the next election, but should ensure that they elect people into the state and federal legislatures.

This, he said, would ensure that anti-people bills do not sail through in the legislature, but will also end the implementation of draconian and anti-people policies.

I have been following the work of Tinubu led political parties since he became a governor in Lagos and after he left predecessors there. Many Lagosian will say they tried, they did good but at what cost and at who's suffering. Another of my concern is ikorodu. They did almost nothing in Ikorodu not minding the amount of votes they get every election year. This has to stop because they keep promising and keep getting the vote without doing nothing. I have decided to join National Conscience Party (NCP) to force them to do the right thing or even vote them out of office. Please whatever you are capable of doing in your capacity do it to make ikorodu benefit from the dividends of democracy. Together we can do it right.

What are the various kind of hijab?

Hijab ( حجاب): The first type of hijab that is most commonly worn by women in the West is a square scarf that covers the head and neck, but leaves the face clear. This form of hijab is most commonly referred to as hijab.

Shayla: The shayla is a long, rectangular scarf that is wrapped loosely around the head and tucked or pinned at the shoulders. Like the hijab and al-amira, this form of hijab covers the head but often leaves the neck and face clear.

Khimar ( خمار): The khimar is a long, cape-like scarf that is wrapped around the head and hangs to the middle of the back. This type of hijab covers the head, neck, and shoulders, but leaves the face clear.

Chador ( تشادر): The chador is a long cloak that covers a woman’s entire body. Like the khimar, the chador wraps around the head, but instead of hanging just to the middle of back, the chador drapes to a woman’s feet.

Niqāb ( نقاب): The niqab is a face-covering that covers the mouth and nose, but leaves the eyes clear. It is worn with an accompanying khimar or other form of head scarf.

Burqa ( برقع ): The burqa covers the entire face and body, leaving a small mesh screen through which the woman can see through.

Why do women wear hijab?
Muslim women choose to wear the hijab or other coverings for a variety of reasons. Some women wear the hijab because they believe that God has instructed women to wear it as a means of fulfilling His commandment for modesty. For these women, wearing hijab is a personal choice that is made after puberty and is intended to reflect one’s personal devotion to God. In many cases, the wearing of a headscarf is often accompanied by the wearing of loose-fitting, non-revealing clothing, also referred to as hijab.

While some Muslim women do not perceive the hijab to be obligatory to their faith, other Muslim women wear the hijab as a means of visibly expressing their Muslim identity (Haddad, et al, 2006). In the United States, particularly since 9/11, the hijab is perceived to be synonymous with Islam. Some Muslim women choose to appropriate this stereotype and wear the hijab to declare their Islamic identity and provide witness of their faith. Unfortunately this association has also occasionally resulted in the violent assaults of Muslim women wearing hijab.

While most Muslim women wear the hijab for religious reasons, there are other Arab or Muslim women who choose to wear the hijab as an expression of their cultural identity. By wearing the hijab, Muslim women hope to communicate their political and social alliance with their country of origin and challenge the prejudice of Western discourses towards the Arabic-speaking world (Zayzafoon, 2005). In many cases, the wearing of the hijab is also used to challenge Western feminist discourses which present hijab-wearing women as oppressed or silenced.

Why do some Muslim women not wear the hijab?
Like the women who choose to wear the hijab, those who choose not to wear the hijab do so for a variety of reasons. Some Muslim women believe that although the principles of modesty are clearly outlined in the Qu’ran, they perceive the wearing of the headscarf as a cultural interpretation of these scriptures. These women sometimes believe that the values espoused by the wearing of the headscarf can be achieved in other ways. Some women believe that while the hijab allowed women in the past to engage in public society without garnering attention, the headscarf in contemporary Western society brings more attention to women and is thus contradictory to its original purpose. Others believe that the hijab and other external practices have become inappropriately central to the practice of Islam, and instead choose to focus on their internal and spiritual relationship with God.

While some women might choose not to wear the hijab, most Muslim women agree that it is a woman’s choice whether or not she wears the hijab. Many Muslim and Arab women who have chosen not to wear the hijab are often staunch advocates of a woman’s right to choose to veil.

The former Central Bank Governor, and Emir of kano His royal highness muhammadu Sanusi the second , surprised guests present at the Muson Centre for the launching of the book of Sir Olaniwun Ajayi.

Below is his unedited speech.

“Let me start by saying that I am Fulani (laughter). My grandfather was an Emir also fulani my uncle and guardian was also the immediate late Emir of kano Alhaji Ado Bayero and therefore I represent all that has been talked about this afternoon. Sir Ajayi has written a book. And like all Nigerians of his generation, he has written in the language of his generation.

“My grandfather was a Northerner, I am a Nigerian. The problem with this country is that in 2009, we speak in the language of 1953. Sir Olaniwun can be forgiven for the way he spoke, but I cannot forgive people of my generation speaking in that language.

“Let us go into this issue because there are so many myths that are being bandied around. Before colonialism, there was nothing like Northern Nigeria, Before the Sokoto Jihad, there was nothing like the Sokoto caliphate. The man from Kano regard himself as bakane. The man from Zaria was bazazzage. The man from Katsina was bakatsine. The kingdoms were at war with each other. They were Hausas, they were Muslims, they were killing each other.

“The Yoruba were Ijebu, Owo, Ijesha, Akoko, Egba. When did they become one? When did the North become one? You have the Sokoto Caliphate that brought every person from Adamawa to Sokoto and said it is one kingdom. They now
said it was a Muslim North.

“The Colonialists came, put that together and said it is now called the Northern Nigeria. Do you know what happened? Our grand fathers were able to transform to being Northerners. We have not been able to transform to being Nigerians. The fault is ours.

Tell me, how many governors has South West produced after Awolowo that are role models of leadership? How many governors has the East produced like Nnamdi Azikiwe that can be role models of leadership? How Many governors in the Niger Delta are role models of leadership? Tell me. There is no evidence statistically that any part of this country has produced good leaders.

You talk about Babangida and the problems of our economy. Who were the people in charge of the economy during Babangida era? Olu Falae, Kalu Idika Kalu. What state are they from in the North?

“We started the banking reform; the first thing I heard was that in Urobo land, there will be a curse of the ancestors. I said they (ancestors) would not answer. They said why? I said how many factories did Ibru build in Urobo land? So, why will the ancestors of the Urobo people support her?

“We talk ethnicity when it pleases us. It is hypocrisy. You said elections were rigged in 1959, Obasanjo and Maurice Iwu rigged election in 2007. Was it a Southern thing? It was not. “The problem is: everywhere in this country, there is one Hausa, Ibo, Yoruba and Itshekiri man whose concern is how to get his hands on the pile and how much he can steal.

Whether it is in the military or in the civilian government, they sit down, they eat together. In fact, the constitution says there must be a minister from every state.

“So, anybody that is still preaching that the problem of Nigeria is Yoruba or Hausa or Fulani, he does not love Nigeria . The problem with Nigeria is that a group of people from each and every ethnic tribe is very selfish. The poverty that is found in Maiduguri is even worse than any poverty that you find in any part of the South.

The British came for 60 years and Sir Ajayi talked about few numbers of graduates in the North (two as at independence) . What he did not say was that there was a documented policy of the British when they came that the Northerner should not be educated. It was documented. It was British colonial policy. I have the document. I have published articles on it. That if you educate the Northerner you will produce progressive Muslim intellectuals of the type we have in Egypt and India. So, do not educate them. It was documented. And you say they love us (North) more than the south.

“I have spent the better part of my life to fight and Dr. (Reuben) Abati knows it. Yes, my grandfather was an Emir. Why was I in the pro-democracy movement fighting for June 12? Is (Moshood) Abiola from Kano ? Why am I a founding director of the Kudirat Initiative for Nigerian Development (KIND)?

“There are good Yoruba people, good Igbo people, good Fulani people, good Nigerians and there are bad people everywhere. That is the truth. “Stop talking about dividing Nigeria because we are not the most populous country
in the world. We have all the resources that make it easy to make one united great Nigeria . It is better if we are united than to divide it.

“Every time you talk about division, when you restructure, do you know what will happen? In Delta Area, the people in Warri will say Agbor, you don’t have oil. When was the Niger Delta constructed as a political entity? Ten years ago, the Itshekiris were fighting the Urobos. Isn’t that what was happening? Now they have become Niger Delta because they have found oil. After, it will be, if you do not have oil in your village then you cannot share our resources.

“There is no country in the world where resources are found in everybody’s hamlet. But people have leaders and they said if you have this geography and if we are one state, then we have a responsibility for making sure that the people who belong to this country have a good nature.

“So, why don’t you talk about; we don’t have infrastructure, we don’t have education, we don’t have health. We are still talking about Fulani. Is it the Fulani cattle rearer or is anybody saying there is no poverty among the Fulani?”, he said.

This is a great message to our generation.

7. The greatest bear on Wall Street,

That's a pretty impressive line-up of people by anyone's yardstick.

Yet, 25 years later, where were those nine industrial giants?

Let’s examine what happened to them 25 years later.
1. The President of the then largest steel company (Bethlehem Steel Corp), Charles M Schwab, lived on borrowed capital for five years before he died bankrupt.

2. The President of the then largest gas company, Howard Hubson, went insane.

3. One of the greatest commodity traders (Wheat Speculator), Arthur Cutten, died insolvent.

4. The then President of the New York Stock Exchange, Richard Whitney, was sent to jail.

5. The member of the US President’s Cabinet (the member of President Harding's cabinet), Albert Fall, was pardoned from jail just to be able to go home and die in peace.

6. The greatest “bear” on Wall Street, Jesse Livermore committed suicide.

7. The President of the then world’s greatest monopoly, Ivar Krueger, committed suicide.

8. The President of the Bank of International Settlement, Leon Fraser, committed Suicide.

9. The president of the largest utility company, Samuel Insull, died penniless.

What they forgot was how to "make" life while they got busy making money!

Money in itself is not evil; it provides food for the hungry, medicine for the sick, clothes for the needy. Money is only a medium of exchange.

We need two kinds of education:

a) One that teaches us how to make a living,

and

b) One that teaches us how to live.

There are many of us who are so engrossed in our professional life that we neglect our family, health and social responsibilities.

If asked why we do this, we would reply that "We are doing it for our family".

Yet, our kids are sleeping when we leave home. They are sleeping when we come back home!! Twenty years later, we’ll turn back, and they’ll all be gone, to pursue their own dreams and their own lives.

Without water, a ship cannot move. The ship needs water, but if the water gets into the ship, the ship will face existential problems. What was once a means of living for the ship will now become a means of destruction.

Similarly we live in a time where earning is a necessity but let not the earning enter our hearts, for what was once a means of living will surely become a means of destruction for us as well.

So take a moment and ask yourself, "Has the water entered my ship?"
I hope not!
