EgunMogaji: Than you Sir.
1) I've used roofing plywood sheets that were backed with thermafoil before here. I though the roofing materials in Nigeria are treated already?
2) I was intending to do a network cable wiring style.
I follow your builds attentively. No the roofing materials are not treated already. As for your network cable style idea, its only advisable when you have a huge amount of wire network, on your roof. that you know will be too stressful and almost impossible to start running them one by one via pipes. once in the case of just some light points from one location to another, you can have the time to pipe them. Infact what people do with lots of wire bundles networking from one location to another is to wrap them ups in foils or bigger pipe that can take a bundle of network. as you can see in below picture of big projects.

i dont blv we have them in nigeria until i saw it here. It cost #50 per one here. At least you understand the challenges we face in the country. Its not like the builders are not talented, just that the machinery, tools, and Materials are not easily accessible. |

Oga, are this building in Nigeria? This is the type of blocks they use here, very light, strong and cheap. Yes sir! building in Calton gate Estate, Chevron drive. I agree that the Bricks and very light, strong, but very expensive. As at the time of this project, the bricks cost N480. |

EgunMogaji: I saw this circle windows on Houzz and I want to see if I can recreate them in my courtyard.
In the Nigerian context, how can I get this done the most straightforward way?
Here I would simply create a circle in a square form with cardboard and pour the concrete, when it sets then I'll have the circle window.
Thanks. An example of one circle Design

EgunMogaji: Two questions on this picture Sir
1) is that foil that I see on the underside of the roof?
2) do I have to run pipes for wires? We just run the cables over here.
Thanks.
I love the roof substructure. Yes sir, that is heat insulator foil, installed underneath roof sheet. Its advisable to run pipes before cables as it serves as a channel point, instead of just throwing wires all around inside the roof. |

Now finally connect a pipe linking the septic tank water to the soakaway. The idea is that once the toilet stool water fills up to that link pipe point, it drains into the soakaway, and suppose to soakaway from there into the soil from there via the little pipes.
Note that there are situation where the water lever might increase the water in the soakaway higher than the pipe such that the water is suppose to go back into the septic tank, that can be solve by putting what is called a no-return valve, on the pipe so that water goes out of the septic tank but do not come in. |

Secondly your septic tank must be divided into 2 partitions (1-Septic tank 2-soakaway) Septic is for Toilet waste, while soakaway is for waste water. The soakaway part must have holes, which will allow water in and out of the pit. but not that part will always have water coming in from the holes below the water level, hence the reason why you need a high foundation so the septic tank and soakaway are not buried too low.

sunite1: This is a water logged area. Hollow bricks cannot be used here. It will collapse on it self.
Thanks. so how will waste water be disposed? water from bathroom and toilets. won't the septic fill up within a short time? First thing First. Get a high foundation which we have done. As I take pictures of dry compound, the whole area is flooded. So like i said get a high foundation, so that you do not have to sink your septic tank to low.

bjcole: That composition usually gives challenges after a while. Have you experienced any problem with it after some years. We have been advising civil engineers and builders that there are specific and ready made materials for screeding.. A screedy putty that can stand test of time. Where is the origin of that mixture? Let's discuss this pls andI have been calling you, no response, even my Wassap message. We've used these method on all our projects, and has never had any problem. |

Bros forget all these oo!! its already too bad from the way i see it here, you're making it worse by adding insult to the defense. |
