10-man Benin stunned Africa Cup of Nations title contenders Morocco in a penalty shootout on Friday to reach the quarter-finals after a 1-1 draw in Cairo.


Moise Adilehou forced home at a corner early in the second half to put Benin on course for a shock win but Youssef En-Nesyri equalised for Morocco before Ajax star Ziyech blew the chance to snatch victory by striking the post from the spot in the 96th minute.



Benin were forced to play most of extra time a man down after Khaled Adenon received a second yellow card for dissent, but they prevailed 4-1 in the shootout following misses by Sofiane Boufal and En-Nesyri to set up a clash with Senegal or Uganda on July 10 for a spot in the semi-finals.


With this, Benin have now played a total of 13 games in the history of the African Cup of Nations without winning a single game. This year they only scraped through to the knockout rounds on the back of three draws after holding both Ghana and reigning champions Cameroon.

A man has confessed to raping his wife occassionally. The Facebook user made this revelation while reacting to a post about the recent rape scandals trending in Nigeria.



He said "some women must be raped for peace to reign in the family". He went on to reveal that men who are married to women with low "sexual urge" that doesn't match their husband's will need to be raped.

Just when you thought you've seen it all, this British Instagram model and social media influencer is selling her used bathwater online for $30 a pop.


The model known as Belle Delphine who has an impressive 3.9 million followers on Instagram made headlines after she launched her latest business venture “GamerGirl Bath Water” which she insists has been “bottled while (she’s) playing in the bath”.

“I will be making some more soon but its been honestly a weird couple of days taking SO many baths,” she said on Instagram.


“Disclaimer: This water is not for drinking and should only be used for sentimental purposes,” she writes online.


The Instagram star also revealed on Twitter that the used bathwater is already sold out saying she “didn’t expect so many people to be interested” and assured her fans a restock would happen “soon”.

"I didn't expect to sell so many or to have THIS many baths either LMAO.

"For anybody waiting on one don't be worried if they're a lil late im working on getting them to you as fast as I can!"

The bizarre business has since sparked widespread disgust online.

“Anyone who pays anything for this is the definition of pathetic,” one critic wrote.

“People reaching new levels of stupid I see,” another said, with a third simply stating: “This is sad.”

A federal high court which sat today in Maitama, Abuja, adjourned the trial of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal and five others linked to the IDP grass cutting scandal, to September 18.



The former SGF alongside his younger brother, Hamidu David Lawal, Suleiman Abubakar and Apeh John Monday, two companies; Rholavision Engineering (fifth defendant) and Josmon Technologies (sixth defendant) was arraigned on a 10-count charge, bordering on fraud, diversion of funds and criminal conspiracy to the tune of over N500million.



At the resumed trial on Thursday, July 4, 2019, the first prosecution witness Hamza Adamu Buwai, a civil servant with the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, who was the Head of Finance, Presidential Initiative for North East (PINE) under the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) concluded his testimony. He also revealed that there was yet another grass cutting project which started in 2016, covering 250km, which involved irrigation on motorised boat in Yobe State, along the river.



According to Buwai, the grass cutting contract of N258 million was awarded to Josmon Technologies (the sixth defendant), with Rholavision (the fifth defendant) as the consultant. He said N225m was initially paid, while the balance came at the completion of the project.



"When the documents of procurement came to me for request for payment to the contractors for the sum of N225million through the Permanent Secretary, Special Service Office in the office of the SGF, the approval was given and payment was made to Josmon Technologies and on completion of the project, a final evaluation certificate was given by Rholavision the consultant for payment in favour of Josmon Technologies."



Justice Okeke however adjourned the matter to September 18 and September 24, 2019 for continuation of trial.

The attachment we feel with our pets varies widely among individuals, depending on the function the animals have in our lives, the personal needs they fill in us and the strength of the emotional bonds we have with them. One of the BBNaija 2019 housemates, Omashola has been spotted expressing teary emotions after his pet died.

It’s incredibly painful to lose a beloved pet that you’ve built a close relationship with and it was evident in Omashola’s voice when he shared a video of the dead parrot on his Instagram page. He added a short caption, simply saying, “What a fucking nightmare” with crying emoticons as well. The oldest housemate in the show was crying because his pet parrot died! Wow! Such raw emotions.

You’d be a poor pet owner if you weren’t emotionally involved with your pets. If the pet doesn’t evoke feelings of contentment, happiness, pride, compassion and enjoyment, then something is wrong somewhere! There is nothing unhealthy about being attached to our pets, unless the attachment is unreasonable, interferes with our ability to relate to others or gets in the way of our daily functioning. Wonderful as it is, love for a pet is not a suitable substitute for human companionship.


When the pet’s death comes, as it inevitably will, the overly attached person may be devastated, socially isolated and at risk for a complicated grief reaction. The pet’s death may signal the end of the most meaningful relationship in the person’s life. If the pet was seen as an extension of the self, the death can symbolically represent the individual’s own demise, as if an essential part of the person has died also.

The Rivers State Police Command says it has arrested nine persons in connection with the gruesome murder of two Mobile Police men around the Mile 2 Diobu axis of Port Harcourt, the state capital yesterday Monday July 1st.



The officers who were attached to a Beer Distribution Company, popularly known as “Paddy Man” located at Nwachukwu/Ojoto Street in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State. They were on their way to deposit cash for the company in the bank alongside some other administrative staff when they were ambushed by masked men who shot them dead.



A statement issued in Port Harcourt by the Police Public Relations Officer, Nnamdi Omoni said the command swung into action immediately after the incident and has been able to apprehend the suspects.

The statements reads

‘’The Rivers State Police Command in less than 24 hours after the tragic killing of two Mobile Policemen at Ojoto Street in Mile 1 Diobu, PH, arrested nine (9) suspects, who are currently being investigated in connection with the dastardly act.’’

“Their arrest was made possible barely 12 hours after the Commissioner of Police, CP Usman A. Belel, issued a marching order to all the Commanders of the Tactical Units to arrest with immediate effect the perpetrators of the heinous crime.”

The police spokesperson appealed to the public to support the police with credible information that could lead to the arrest of other members of the gang.

“The public can therefore reach us through the following dedicated lines: 08032003524; 08098880134 and 08182157778,” the statement said.

Senior Pastor of Daystar Christian Center, Sam Adeyemi, has reacted to the rape allegation leveled against COZA founder, Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo, by wife of singer Timi Dakolo, Busola.



In a statement released this afternoon, Adeyemi expresed sympathy for Busola Dakolo and all those that have been affected since she came out to relieve her experiences with the clergyman.



Adeyemi asked for patience while legal processes are instituted to unravel the truth. Read his statement below

My attention has been drawn to the allegations of rape made against Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo by Mrs Busola Dakolo. These are, no doubt, serious allegations. Rape is a crime and I say a firm NO to rape.
As Christians, it is only appropriate for us to seek for truth, justice, healing, and restoration for all involved. The Bible instructs us to do this with humility (Galatians 6:1).

While these are still allegations, I emphatise with Mrs Dakolo and everyone that has been affected, and I pray God’s peace for them at this time.

While the allegations have been refuted, I hope there will be a process, legal or counseling, to establish the truth in these circumstances.
Meanwhile, let us pray for peace and strength for everyone hurting in this process, for the families of the accusers and the accused, and the Church.

Michael de Adder, a Canadian cartoonist has lost his job just two days after his illustration of President Donald Trump playing golf over the bodies of two drowned migrants went viral on social media.

Michael de Adder said on Twitter that he had been let go by a publishing company in New Brunswick, Canada. His illustration depicted President Trump asking the two dead migrants, "Do you mind if I play through?"

The cartoon refers to the image of Oscar Alberto Martínez and his 23-month-old daughter, Angie Valeria, lying face down in water surrounded by reeds. The two drowned while attempting to cross the Rio Grande River to get into the United States.

"The highs and lows of cartooning. Today I was just let go from all newspapers in New Brunswick," De Adder tweeted. He later clarified that he had technically been under contract to work for Brunswick News Inc., and wasn't an employee who could be fired.

Brunswick News Inc. responded in a statement on Sunday that "it is entirely incorrect to suggest" that it canceled a freelance contract with de Adder over the Trump cartoon. "This is a false narrative which has emerged carelessly and recklessly on social media," the publishing company wrote.

De Adder tweeted that he would bounce back from losing the job and that he just had to "recoup a percentage of my weekly income.

Wes Tyrell, President of the Association of Canadian Cartoonists, a professional group for artists, claimed that the Brunswick newspapers avoided Trump as a subject of its cartoons and de Adder "was doing them with regularity for the last couple of years, like any cartoonist."

The Ogun state police has arrested 30-year-old Olawoyin Segun, for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl in the Ibafo area of the state on Friday June 28th.



A statement by the command's spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, says the suspect allegedly visited the victim’s home about 1:30 pm on June 28 and asked after her parents and upon realizing that they had gone to church, seized the girl and raped her.



The victim later reported the matter to men of the Ibafo police station who immediately effected his arrest. The police spokesperson said the victim told the police that the suspect “grabbed her forcefully” before “having canal knowledge of her.” Oyeyemi said the victim attempted to free herself from the sexual assault and even resorted to biting the suspect seriously, but he still over powered the girl and had his way.



"Upon the report, the DPO Ibafo Division, SP Abiodun Ayinde, detailed his detectives to the scene at Mapara, Makogi area of Ibafo, where the randy man was promptly arrested. On interrogation, the suspect, who confessed being a friend to the family of the victim, claimed not to know what came upon him to do such a thing to a girl who sees him as her brother" Oyeyemi said



According to Abimbola, the suspect would be charged to court soon.

The new Governor of Bauchi, Bala Mohammed, governor of the state, accused his predecessor of spending N2.3 billion on funeral materials in five months.

In reaction, Mohammed Abubakar, former governor of Bauchi state, says he only spent N1.2 billion on funeral materials and not N2.3 billion as alleged.

Speaking through Mukhtar Jibril, his media aide, the former governor said he inherited the practice of buying funeral materials from his predecessors due to its impact on the people.

Jibril noted that the purchases passed through due process and awarded to qualified contractors.
